EAH - Wilkie, Rgee and I were talking about the ever impossible to arrange Jan MN meet up and as I drove home I was thinking you would be the perfect organiser! I think Wilkie's idea of a big January birthday party is good one.

I have despatched pictures from today to Wilkie and Rgee already as I and my laptop and incapable of putting online. We did think of you all while we gossiped away and my mum fed us and fed us and fed us and fed us.....

Catch up properly later

Wilkie · 05/06/2007 19:21

Just uploaded the photos of our meet up onto my profile.

Thanks for sending Vino xxx

ellieandhattie · 05/06/2007 19:28

ooooo a big birthday meet up good idea now I need an idea of a central ish location (pmsl at 2nd picture of Jacob with his arms over his 'lady friends' as if to say 'they are mine!!!!')

ellieandhattie · 05/06/2007 19:33

Sorry PCF I think Doctors is a good idea - I thought hernia as well although friends little boy had a hernia that dissapeared at 7 months

Wilkie · 05/06/2007 20:10

EAH - Peterborough?

RGee · 05/06/2007 20:21

Hi all!
Had a FAB day today. Vino and Wilkie are smashers (but not as smashing as Grannie Vino who seemed to think we needed to eat lots of cake. I was far too polite to decline the homemade ginger cake, victoria sponge AND scones...nom nom ). J is a charmer, if not slightly too loud (like his mum ) for delicate Pippa. I was most amused that after J had rolled on top of Ellen as part of his pulling technique, Ellen just pushed J off her and continued playing as though nothing had happened! V cute the three of them together. Naturally, we gossiped about you all .

PCF - agree with the others. Best to get it checked out.

LaL - ta for the link. Know who he is now! And may just browse that website too!

Trixy - hope you managed to get lo to sleep in the end, and all works out well with your stair gate.

Hiya Loubie - Scary rash and hospital stay. Glad all was well though. And keep posting!

Carrot - you bored of your name by any chance?

EAH - brilliant! Loved the boot sale prep. Although I chuckled, I bet you sell loads more by doing it this way. Am pleased to report that my Newborn, 0-3, and 3-6 month clothes are neatly washed and folded (not ironed though - don't really do ironing) in plastic box with a lid. Haven't labelled them yet. Meant to ask if you'd do a nice laminated one for me to stick to the box....

JodieG1 · 05/06/2007 20:51

PCF - def get that checked out asap, tomorrow, say it's an emergency as you really don't know what that could be.

I like the idea of a birthday meet. In the meantime would be nice to meet Mrscarrot, you said you could get to Cambridge? Or anyone else nearby too. Sure we could all arrange something for Jan too although maybe Summer would be better as we have less chance of snow hehe.

JodieG1 · 05/06/2007 20:52

Glad you 3 had a good time meeting, so what was the gossip about then? I didn't feel my ears burning so it couldn't have been me lol.

ellieandhattie · 05/06/2007 20:54

rgee - of course i will (although you'll have to wait till july for laminated ones as do those at work have made signs on computer for moses basket/nursery stuff and electric swing. I can't believe how many clothes they had from newborn to 0-3 its embarrasing, I'll update you on amount raised on sunday (have lovely market stall money belt and ordered £50 change from bank for my float and have lots of carrier bags to put people purchases in) hopefully mine will be the classiest best presented stall

CarrotMisses · 05/06/2007 21:03

I would ring them tonight and explain, they will want to see you if they think it's an emergency, if not go in the morning anyway.

If you hadn't said it was like that before I would have said take him to A and E but it's hard to gauge from a photo tbh. What are your instincts?

Peterborough, Cambridge, any of those meet ups are fine by me

Rgee- am very bored of name!

2Happy · 05/06/2007 21:37

Only prob with a Jan meet is it would have to be a weekend, and a lot of people would presumably be arranging their own birthday thingies with family etc at weekends IYSWIM so Feb may be better (except for the silly sods who went and held onto their babies until feb )

PCF - hard to tell from the pic, but if it's new/worsening or just plain concerning you you need to get it checked. Hope you get appt tomorrow and it goes ok, keep us updated x

Dragonhart · 05/06/2007 21:38

Hi Loubie- That sounds really scary, glad lo ok now though. Welcome back

EAH- thanks. They are all in bags for age groups and labeled (very organinsed for me) Just wasnt sure what to do with them after that.

Pink- I would ring tonight too. NHS direct has been really good in my experience, mostly just to put my mind at rest. Hope he is ok. xxx

Glad Rgee, Vino and Wilkie had a good day. All your los look huge compared to Ruth. Made me realise that she has no friends the same age as her poor love!

2happy- Are you planning a party? We were not sure whether to do one or not as I wasnt sure if he would 'get' it. He loves playing with other children though so sure he would enjoy it. Luke doesnt really have that many friends either (do you think tha tmakes me a bad mum or just a busy one!?) so there wouldnt be too many people there. Just not sure if I wanted to go to all the hassle and expense when I have years of parties to organise!

We had great fun in the Garden today. My mum bought Luke some giant chalks and we were drawing on the pathing slabs. Then we got some brushes and painted the wall with water! Luke loved it!

Shimmer · 05/06/2007 21:49

Hi all. Love the photos of the meetup. The LOs are all so cute! Jan meetup sounds fab. Can we do it at the end of Jan? Just to make sure everyones LOs are 1... (and also cos i'm on holiday mid-Jan)

PCF - like everyone says, i'd get the tummy lump checked out. Do try not to panic in the mean time though!

Hi Loubie. Hope you and Ben are both doing well now. You just never know with rashes do you.

Freddie has been a complete nightmare at night for the last week now and isn't showing any signs of being any better so far tonight It's really beginning to get me down and i'm getting really short of sleep, which as you all know, makes everything seem 100x worse! He is absolutely fine during the day and has 2 daytime naps with no problems at all. His bedtime routine is the same as it always was- basically bath, milk, bed - but the last week or so he has been waking up LOADS at night and really screaming until he is picked up and rocked back to sleep (usually for at least 20 mins, but sometimes its an hour or more before he'll fall asleep and be okay being put down) I've really tried not picking him up when he cries but he doesn't settle at all and i'm really not happy leaving him lying in his cot when he's so upset. Wilkie, did J go through something like this? Anyone else got any ideas? He's also started waking at about 5am and wanting feeding, which he never used to. We're going to start him on some puree on Sunday (have been instructed to wait til DP's day off so we can do it together!) so i'm hoping a bit of food will fill him up and see him through the night again. He used to be such a good sleeper. What went wrong?????

P.S. It's my birthday tommorrow! I've reached the grand ol' age of 28. Yikes!

JodieG1 · 05/06/2007 22:53

shimmer the food will fill him up but has less calories so he'll want more milk/food more often to compensate. Maybe teething, lonely at night etc, basically anything we could feel. It won't last forever.

trixymalixy · 05/06/2007 23:19

Hi everyone,

Having a better day than yesterday thank god!!

DS did fall asleep on his own last night and was fine today.

The guy has said he will send me the stairgate after all.

DH - I scared myself last night. Feeling so angry at a little baby. Have been cuddling him all day.

2happy - I think he might be going through a growth spurt as he has been feeding quite a lot today.

Loubie - nice to see you back.Glad DS is Ok, sounds as if you had a scary time.

EAH - I wish I had only a tiny bit of your organisation skills! You are definitely verging on OCD tho .

PCF - trust your own instincts and demand a second opinion. I don't really have a lot of faith in doctors since mine has prescribed the wrong dosage for DS twice in a row .

Wilkie/vino/rgee - sounds like you had a good day. love the pics. Think I'm too far away from everyone to meet up.

Shimmer - happy birthday for tomorrow. Could F be going through a growth spurt?

vinorouge · 06/06/2007 07:41

Height of laziness for Vino this morning who has brought her laptop into bed with her. LO lying happily beside her

EAH - I would love to be as organised as you. I used to like organsiing but since LO I have stopped writing lists cos it scared me how little I got done.

Jodie - I'm using your notebook tip!

Shimmer - my sympathies for Freddie waking loads in the night. Ellen has always done this and I am starting to LONG for a good nights sleep. She wants feeding more often - onMon night Dh and I had gone to bed at 9pm and Ellen woke at 11.45 so it wasn't even the next day yet!
Could it be teething? Ellen is bothered more at night by the 2 teeth that seem to be appearing. I am going to start purees too. Todays job is to go and buy ice cube trays and vegetables then do some cooking. The fence painting can wait.

Rgee - I am bothering to get on the bus and do my shopping at crown point today. Well, when I frag myself out of bed I will!!! And after Ellens' bottle so I don;t have to faff about taking one with me.
There was no traffic when I drove back from yours last night hence my speedy trip, well that and I did text you before I even got in the house cos I was so amazes at my speed!

Wilkie - are you impressed that I might have managed to set up msn??? Not sure its a good idea in case I get addicted !!! But what do I do now? All I've done is set up a sign on with password. Thought I would seek your help next.

EAH - I will be intruiged to see how much you make at the car boot. I've nver been to one but would like to. My plan is that once I stop breastfeeding and my boobs are 'normal' I'll have a big sort through my clothes and then sell everything that doesn't fit/I haven't worn/still got labels in etc along with any other junk in the house. Your total may well inspire me!

BTW, when I pour my water into a bottle ready for feed am I supposed to cool it before putting it into the fridge. Does it need to be cooled under the tap or can I leave it on the side. I get a bit confused!

Hooray - LO asleep now I've fnished typing. HE he he!!!!

vinorouge · 06/06/2007 07:42

Hmm a few typos. Forgive me please.

ellieandhattie · 06/06/2007 08:10

Shimmer HAPPY BIRTHDAY hope you have a lovely day and get lots of nice things. Hattie has been waking 3/4 times a night for last 5 days for no apparent reason shes fairly easy to settle (normally about 10 mins) but its a killer when shes been sleeping through for last 9 weeks, shes also biting down on everything so may be teeth (although ellie did this for months and never got a tooth till 8.5 months!) or she has been a bit snuffly so may be that waking her, regardless I am in sympathy with you.

Vin I have never done a boot fair either my mum and dad used to do themloads when we were younger to get rid of our clothes etc, will update you on sunday (fingers crossed for weather!) although my mum is having Hattie and Chris taking Ellie swimming so my dad has offered to come along and help me (he has the 'gift of the gab' so will get loads of people looking and buying. The boot fair I am doing is near lots of farms and you get a lot of the eastern europeans working on the farms fruit picking this time of year and they apparently they like baby stuff and home furnishings and ove boot fairs so fingers crossed.

Got to head into town at 8.30 then ellie and I have dentist at 12 (she doesnt normally show him her teeth but been practicing this morning so we'll see) and then my dad is off work this week so we may go and see him for a bit.

Wilkie · 06/06/2007 08:42

Shimmer - I have symapthy mate, I really do. J never woke up 'screaming' he would just be awake, we'd have to go in, shush him and stroke his head until his eyes started rolling and then he would nod back off. We were having to do this about 4-10 times a night though. He also wold wake at 3-4am screaming and nothing except food would settle him.

He has only started sleeping through since we started 'ignoring' him when he was shouting/grunting for attention. If he was really screaming I would go through but wouldn't pick him up, just stayed by his cot shushing and stroking his head until he went back to sleep.

Hmmm, could be teething or maybe his is ready for some food? I know what Jodie is saying about milk having more calories but I believe that the added 'bulk' of solid food helps them go through the night too. You've nothing to lose by trying it.

It has taken 4-5 weeks of feeding J solids to start going through now though.

Sorry not to be anymore help. You can always MSN me if you want to thrash out some ideas (obv first time mothers so we can dumble our way through the myriad of probs it could be ).

Vino - lazy lazy girl in bed (only jealous)!! Hmmm, what do you mean you have set up sign on and password?? That should mean you are ready to MSN. Little confused.

Also, DH has agreed that Vino's daddy is going to christen J. He is a fab fab funky minister and the church is beautiful (we loked round yesterday) so am very very excited. I didn't want to get him christened cos my experience of church has been stuffy/boring vicars but Mr Vino is FANTASTIC

DH - day in the garden sounds great fun. Can't wait until I can do stuff like that with the little man.

J slept through again although was awake for an hour from 5-6am which was a bit but we just kept going in a shushing him and eventually he went back off until 7am. There was NO WAY we were getting up at that time when he wasn't hungry/ill/dirty - just plain annoying

He also rolled back to front then front to back this morning. He cried when he did it though I think from the shock. Bless him.

Right, must stop this epic post. Am around all day so will keep logging on. (I'm not addicted honest! )

RGee · 06/06/2007 09:16

Dragonhart · 06/06/2007 11:02

Happy birthday shimmer! I am 28 in oct so we are pretty much the same age! Hope you have a lovely day (and night!)

Not much to suggest except that when luke started doing this at about 5 1/2 months, I gave him some teething gel and he settled straight away. Might be worth a try? No signs of Ruth's teeth yet. Maybe she will just wake up one morning with a full set

Laughalot- do you have to do the whole party bags andgames thing? I was thinking that I might just invite afew children and their mums round to play on his birthday and do lunch but dont know what the etiquet (sp?) is?

Also we were told hat you have to get los name down for a nursary place at 2!How scary/exciting about him going though!

Wilkie-Have to say, I am loving having a little boy to play with. We have been out playing football this morning which he found hilarious.

EAH- good luck with the dentist!

Trixy- glad you had a better day. And he is sending you the stuff. Dont feel too guilty- we all have days like that.

Pink- hope lo is ok this morning. xxx

PIL coming tonight so prob wont post much over the next week . Will prob get the shakes in withdrawal!

trixymalixy · 06/06/2007 11:08

What a morning I'm having!!

DS didn't sleep that well last night. Poor boy was soaking when I got him up so it's no wonder.

Borrowed a friend's bumbo, so sat DS in it while I MNetted (after changing him, not in soaking nappy!!). He started grouching so picked him up without looking and sat him on my knee while I continued. Looked down to see the bumbo filled with poo and me as well. Eeeeeew!!

Then put him down to play in his playgym and he whacked one of the plastic toys right into my tooth and has chipped it.

Then the mail arrived and two items I had bought off ebay arrived about 2 months late. Have already replaced the items and now have two of each as have had to repay the original sellers. Bloody royal Mail!!

He's poopin in his nappy again so had best go ahcnge him for the THIRD time this morning!!
