you choose - for you or for your bubba

I can't believe the May thread is so excited that their babies are arriving. That time in our lives seems like soooooo long ago .

Jay - SO good to hear from you, had really been wondering how things were going. I'm glad you are making small steps forward. Hope they turn into great leaps asap.

Piffle - wow, you were brave. I loved riding but was never the boldest rider even though I once had dreams of winning Wembley (when I was about 8, I think..). I gave it up when the pony I used to exercise went lame for a while, and somehow I never went back - had started discovering the delights of boys and being a layabout teenager I think.

My AF arrived yesterday and as a result I am Mrs Emotional once again. Everything is making me well up.

Kiwi - nice to have you back, hope you had a great time in Oz. Kate sounds like a natural globetrotter already. I don't think Jordi would have prompted quite the same response from fellow passengers... although who knows, he is sleeping loads atm. He seems to have permanent snuffles, so I don't know if it's just one cold merging into the next or what.

Had him weighed yesterday - dear god, you'd never think he was premature. 16lb 6oz (7.4kg).!!!!! Is he the heaviest baby on this thread? And I haven't even started giving him solids yet.

A workmate of mine's partner, also a workmate but in a different dept, had a baby early this morning. Another boy - you lot aside (and let's face it, we had enough between us), every person I've known who had been pg this year has had a boy - that's the 7th in a row, including mine. One more friend is due next month, so I wait to see if she can make it a clean sweep of males.

Oh my god, just had a massive flash of lightning and rumble of thunder. Think the storm must be right overhead.

CallieNewMum · 15/06/2007 13:38

Oh and Dolly, have a lovely holiday.

Piffle · 15/06/2007 14:03

Ah jays good to hear from you- did you give them an " I told you so" face when they finally diagnosed it, you knew something was not right. 3 + bloody week of suffering, hope he improves from here on in, don't beat yourself up about the breast feeding, you were run ragged - happy mum = happier baby IMO happier baby =happier mum..

Nope do not ride at all now, still well up when I see or smell a horse though - I might live it vicariously through my kids, but ds1 is allergic, dd has SN and balance issues and Finn looks like he is cut out for rugby to be honest.
12 wks and 15lbs 2 he is a sturdy little fellow he is quite tall I think 69cms? Really long in the torso it seems.

Shrinkinglily · 15/06/2007 14:16

Dolly have a great time in Italy, happy travelling

I am feeling lousy today and wonder if it is a month since I last felt this way because it feels like pmt. I was hoping the omega 3 would help.

And lol at all the pet insects -cute but yuch

Piffle I used to know a guy at art college and he made loads of money doing dressage in the holidays and used to spend a fortune on lovely clothes and the rest of us were wearing scruffy second hand stuff. (ooh and I still am ) I hope your new buggy does the trick. I saw that for sale thread and it looks gorgeous

Kiwi well done with that travelling, quite an accomplishment. I always have trouble getting my babies to take bottles. I'm sure I'll have the same problem because I've been too lazy to express.

muppethasakitten · 15/06/2007 14:38

Jay - SOOOO good to hear from you. I can appreciate why you would feel sad at stopping bfeeding - especially as you had supply-a-plenty and you say the latch was good - but it sounds to me like you would have had your work cut out and at the end of the day you have to think of saving your sanity and having something left for your dd too! I hope little Jensen continues to improve - silent reflux sounds painful - are the medicines helping?

shrinky - sorry your feeling blue. Have you got af's back then?

callie - jordi is doing hilariously well isn't he! I'm alway amazed at how he's piling on the weight and it's astounding at how early he was yet he's the same as Samuel (they were due at the same time weren't they?) - he's dead on 17lbs this week. Unlike piff's baby he isn't long in the torso... just dumpy!!! Keep wanting to stretch him! He's in 6 - 9 month clothes but that's just cos the 3-6 month ones wont go over his thighs or fit round his tummy!

Piff - If ever you're down my way you can come for a ride at our local stables and have your pick of the numpty horses. No danger of them chucking you off... you'd be lucky to get a trot!!! Sounds like you'll have to get the mighty Finn a pony... he'd prolly need one with sturdy legs though!!!

Piffle · 15/06/2007 14:41

ahh even better lily I popped my other pram on ebay for buy now of £210
it was not taken and auction ended at £250.

So am very pleased, hope the bugaboo is worth it though if its not easy steer I may need surgery which I was hoping to avoid while breastfeeding

divastrop · 15/06/2007 15:01

hi all...just a quick one as herself is crying and wont stop(wind, teething, hunger but wont take bottle due to teat fussiness, sore throat?take your pick).

jay-good to see you back and that you are making some progress

dolly-have a good holiday.

piff-nice one re.pram

bella-gald you had a nice time and Kate was good.im having trouble getting Elsie to take a bottle atm and she was ff from birth.strange,i never had any trouble feeding boys

i am shattered as elsie has been waking twice a night instead of once.she woke at 10.30 pm and 4am.then ds2 woke up at 5am.its been like that the last 3 nights and i am away with the zombies now.

hope everybody else is ok.

Shrinkinglily · 15/06/2007 15:38

I want to sell my buggys now and buy a superdupery one.

Muppet no af just the horrible symptoms.

evenhope · 15/06/2007 15:58

Not got time to read thread (there's a surprise) but did read something about lots of boys this year? Just started at baby massage class and out of 8 babies only 2 are boys. Seems to be a glut of girls locally (and all aged 3-6 months as that is the only gap in the girls clothes at Mcare)

divastrop · 15/06/2007 16:30

rosy-i meant to say,dp doesnt play online final fantasy(dont know why,i assume it costs?)he also used to play the playstation version when he was younger.

mossy-re the boy/girl toy thing,dd2 loves cars,i got her a garage for her 1st birthday, and she plays car crashes with ds2.i somehow couldnt imagine myself producing fluffy girly girls.dd1 likes pretty dresses but she also seems to come home from the park with scratches on her face etc from fighting

kittywits · 15/06/2007 16:50

OMG, had to say Ronnie's been asleep for nearly 2 hours. That's the longest he's ever done during the day since birth!!!
Mostly he cat naps. I've actually managed to wind down a bit and spend some time engaging with my other children rather than snapping at them 'cos Ronnie's made me so stressed with his constant crying and sucking. I know they've been suffering since laughing boy arrived, I certainly have. I really hope he's turning that magical corner now.
I ceertainly don't feel in the slighest bit broody after having to deal with him

foxcub · 15/06/2007 17:54

Hi everyoe - very of some of your babie's sleep patterns

Jay - poor little jensen - I hope you and he have an easier time of it now he has got some meds [hugs]

Callie - your boy is huge!! LOL

that's lovely isn't it? Big healthy strong boy

Well DS1 is in the garden with his friend with about 10 containers, rounding up an assortment of revolting mimi beasts

DS2 came to the hairdressers today and had several hairdressing assistants fighting to hold him My hairdresser did my hair ultra quickly 'cos it was near his feeding time!

Just heard DD in the garden, imitating me, shouting "Boys, come in now, your dinner's ready!"

foxcub · 15/06/2007 17:56

Kitty - its horrible feeling stressed and guilty all the time isn't it? I'm forever saying to mine "...In a MINUTE, when I've finished feeding Monti!"

foxcub · 15/06/2007 17:58

Evenhope - I know of 9 babies born who will be in Monti's year at school (siblings of existing school children) and there are 7 girls and only 2 boys - including Monti!!!

...all those girlfriends!

LunarSea · 15/06/2007 18:10

It's almost all boys around here this year.

sazzybee · 15/06/2007 19:42

Hello all

Jay - glad to hear from you although I'm sorry you and Jensen have been having such a rough time. You know I don't think I've ever heard of a case of silent reflux where the mother hasn't been told by the GP that it's all in her head

I hope this means that you finally get to enjoy one another properly.

Wow I'm so delighted to hear that some of your boys are also a bit on the hefty side. My mum thinks Elliot is too fat. (where's an eye-rolling emoticon when you need one?) I know she has issues with weight but honestly! She said that the fact that he's only having one feed at night rather than two is probably a good thing as he'll slim down a bit! I was thinking that it was a good thing as it means I get more sleep but clearly that's less important. I had no idea she was so weird about weight until I got pregnant and she told me I was fat when I was 32 weeks (and had polyhydramnios) - thanks mum! No wonder my sister was anorexic.

So piffle you're not the only one with an irritating mother. And I have a cot traveller too only he seems to go down as well as up. He started getting really cross the other night as he couldn't straighten his legs and was squashed right down the bottom of the cot. He has so much room in there I'm not surprised!

We've had a lovely day though - went to St James' Park with a friend and sat in the sun and ate nice things. There's a nice (if pricey) caff there and also a really lovely playground. Obviously E is a bit small for going on the swings but he really likes looking at other children so he was very well behaved while we chatted and her little boy did kamikaze stuff in the sand pit.

Have a lovely holiday dolly - hope the weather is good and you get some r&r

Oops - sorry that's a bit of mammoth post

Shrinkinglily · 15/06/2007 19:52

I am barely coping today...

When I was feeding Hasan this afternoon my beasties painted themselves and the kitchen table black and they used up all the squirty soap and spread black soapy water all round the downstairs loo, doors, their hair that sort of thing.

For dinner I made tinned tomato soup, grated cheese and toast.

I couldn't wait for their bedtime.

I can hear an orange parade in the distance. We have 5 seasons here, autumn, winter, spring, summer, and marching season

muppethasakitten · 15/06/2007 19:58

Hugs to you shrinky - can you get the beasties to help with the clearing up?

Shrinkinglily · 15/06/2007 20:29

Oh yes Muppet, they love to help me clean. Ah sure they're sleeping now, it's pure bliss. Then Hasan did his bit and threw up all over the bed. Ah sure, I can have a nice freshly made bed to climb into soon(puts nice positive slant upon fiasco day)

kittywits · 15/06/2007 20:34

oh Shrinky, do we live in the same house ?. I had a day like that yesterday. For example dd3 pooed all over the kitchen table, yuk , and then she pooed all over the hall carpet and trod it through the house. Have a drink

Shrinkinglily · 15/06/2007 20:43

Kitty! You just can't take your eyes off them for a second!
I'd love a drink, none in though.

muppethasakitten · 15/06/2007 21:13

shrinky - not having any drink in the house... now that IS what i call a fiasco

muppethasakitten · 15/06/2007 21:14

Kitty - did you see home grown babies today? Lucky that lady had a midwife living next door!!!

divastrop · 15/06/2007 21:39

rosy-children are great at knowing when you cant move ie when feeding the baby.

mine havent been too bad today...well,apart from dd1 having a toddler-style tantrum every hour about not going to school, and ds2 trying to pull the kittens leg off,and Elsie only drinking 2oz of milk at a time and screaming in between.

oh no,its saturday tomorrow

kittywits · 15/06/2007 22:55

Muppet, she was lucky wasn't she?. That's what it's like in Brighton, the midwives are totally overworked. I've been relatively lucky in having the support when I needed it. But maybe it's because I'm gobby .

Shrinky I cannot believe you have no alcohol in the house, what's going on? I have just consumed lots of lovely red wine and feel rather good
