you choose - for you or for your bubba

I can't believe the May thread is so excited that their babies are arriving. That time in our lives seems like soooooo long ago .

just been looking on t'net for inspiration for...seriously,are there no such things as dresses with sleeves these days

and dp is planning to write his own vows...i think im going to need some help from MN here somehow!

divastrop · 12/06/2007 22:42

inspiration for a dress for me,that was meant to say.dont know what happened, been away with the fairies all day.

CallieNewMum · 12/06/2007 22:52

Lovely dress Diva.

Amie, I've taken Jordi to baby massage twice and he seems to like it - likes nosing at all the other babies anyway!

TheBlonde, DS slept for about 2.5hours from morning to early afternoon, fed, was awake for about hour and a half, then slept for another 2.5hours. Fed, cried, bathed, cried, fed in his sleep and is zonked - oh please for the night!

Boo, I know what you mean about feeling more tired after getting a good night's sleep. however, I was getting used to having about five in a row generally before the past few nights and now have no idea what it'll be again. .

My wrist has started to hurt today from carrying the baby, I fear. Oh dear - he's not going to get any lighter... My sister said she needed wrist supports with her second child.

I've never been smart so nothing has changed since having DS, expect I was less likely to have sick stains on my top before. However, I am determined to get my hair cut this week after six months before the split ends reach my roots. That's another thing I missed from my "maternity leave" - ha!

Kitty, the job is working on campaigns and education for a charity. I'm debating whether to apply atm.

Foxy, your boss is pathetic. Give him hell.

Shrinkinglily · 13/06/2007 07:20

Callie, apply, then if you get the job offer you can decide whether to take it. If it was me, I'd rather do the most interesting job and put up with less money for a happier life!

My hair is really thin from the hairloss now. It is fine anyway but my sister gets actual bald patches after birth And at least my hair is very shiney at the moment...must be all the fish oil I'm taking

Diva my sisters man has already written his own vows to say. He's really romantic but my sister turns everything into a joke, she is very funny, but doesn't know where to start with her 'special words'
Maybe I should get her to come off her online game and come on mumsnet to get some ideas.
She also hasn't found a dress yet and is getting married on 4th August!

Mossie · 13/06/2007 07:59

Diva that dress is ever so cute! Where are you getting married?

Those of you looking for new jobs... I'm in the same boat... started sending off for application forms today for part-time learning assistant jobs, they start in September which is closer than I'd realised!

Can't wait to get one and then send my resignation letter.... ah that will be wonderful!!

Oh bugger thought I could write more but I hear kerfuffling... if not checked it will turn into a wail and then a scream....

Mossie · 13/06/2007 08:17

Diva... this is what I got married in... whatdaya reckon?

TheBlonde · 13/06/2007 08:34

Callie - go for it, apply for the job

Shrinkinglily · 13/06/2007 08:49

Wow Mossy, that dress is something else! You'd look fantastic in that now with your pillar box red hair and huge cleavage

Mossie · 13/06/2007 09:08

Shrinky I've gotten rid of the hair now, it was annoying me. Not the colour but the cut, it was a really messy bob. I actually went and had it lopped off; now it's really short and the red was only in the ends, so it's goodbye!

I might try on my dress again, it's upstairs, probably covered in cat hairs, see what it looks like with the cleavage!

Callie I think you should apply for the job too... nothing ventured, nothing gained!

Diva I got married October 18th, it's a wonderful time of year, all the photos with the colourful leaves!

Today I'm going to baby massage... got to keep busy, stops me going mad! I hope Bertie likes it, he's a bit of a weird baby in that he doesn't like being bathed like babies are meant to, so we'll see!

Right I think I might have got him to sleep, in which case I'm going to have a cup of tea and watch some telly!

Mossie · 13/06/2007 09:08

Shrinky lol at the pj thread! I thought that pj's were just a scouse thing; obviously not!!

Booboobedoo · 13/06/2007 10:05

Well, fifth bad night in a row (he woke up every hour last night), then DH was horrible to me this morning.

He wasn't really snotty last night. His startle reflex appears to have returned really strongly, and when he goes into his light sleep he starts punching himself really hard in the head! If I leave him he really wakes himself up, so I have to hold his hands still until he resettles. Might start swaddling again...

Any ideas anyone? If not, any coping strategies for being so exhausted you can barely see?

Will reply properly later. Am too mired in self-pity right now.

Mossie · 13/06/2007 10:12

"Any coping strategies for being so exhausted you can barely see?"

Prozac?

It's what I use anyway!

But seriously? Why not take little Jonny to bed with you for a mid-day nap? I do think he and Bertie might be twins; Bertie does three / three and a half hours... then wakes up every hour. If swaddling works, keep doing it... I do anyway!

Have you tried co-sleeping? Sometimes Bertie loves it, other nights he's just as bad whether he's in my bed or in the moses basket, but it could be worth a try?

Booboobedoo · 13/06/2007 10:48

We often co-sleep. In fact he was always in our bed for the first month! Love waking up to his little face in the morning.

I'm fed-up with day-time sleeps. You feel like you're permanently in some twighlight zone, don't you?

Must go. The baby-gym's charms are rapidly waning...

Piffle · 13/06/2007 10:49

mossie Finn only started enjoying his bath on tuesday and I mean he raised one smile, then howled
He detests it and he is a very happy settled baby and 12 wks old!
Finn is also taking a loooooooong morning nap 2 hrs + and 2 short afternoon ones 45 mins and one snooze in the sling.
Well tis so hot today [phew]

muppethasakitten · 13/06/2007 10:55

Boo - Samuel has really strong startle reflex... always has... he constantly wakes himself (and me!)... I also have to hold him till he resettles... the other thing i've done is tuck a cuddly up against him so when his right arm flies up it hits the cuddly and not him... helps a bit... however... he now is getting very attached to said cuddly and will prolly soon not go to sleep without it... so prolly shot myself in the foot there.

Piff - lol at you swapping your flash car for estate and being ostracised!! I've always had muddy estate car covered in horse and dog hair so no worries there!

Diva - know what you mean about sleeveless dresses being the only option at the mo... they're everywhere!

muppethasakitten · 13/06/2007 10:55

and the big question on everyone's lips is.... will it be Kitty today????

Mossie · 13/06/2007 11:37

of Finn's naps!

Bertie takes one nap if I'm lucky, for about an hour and a half, in the morning. After that it's open season... the crying game begins. I can distract him though now he is a bit older, by making silly faces at him and the suchlike. He's not fooled for long by cot mobiles, play gyms that kind of thing.

Yesterday I took him to baby signing. He's far too young of course but he loved seeing the other babies and enjoyed all the fuss. If I keep myself active and try to get out at least once every day, it stops me losing it!!

Muppet... let's hope it's Kitty today! That would be good!!

Booboo ikwym about the twilight zone. Luckily dh is being more supportive these days; when he gets in he takes Bertie for an hour or two so I can get a kip. Trouble is, I know that as soon as I wake, it'll be sore nipple time again.... still, it's a sleep, and it stops me running along the front of the terraces in my jim jams screaming blue murder...

Shrinkinglily · 13/06/2007 11:57

You see when things start to get easier..you start getting more sleep, baby is happy and settled...ooh it is so fantastic.

I'm as high as a kite everyday because I have an easy baby and a couple of years ago I was almost suicidal with lack of sleep.

Booboo, just be kind to yourself today. I really hope you get a better sleep tonight.

Mossy, I bet you look cute with a short hair do. I used to have my hair really short but with my big nose, broad shoulders and height, I was be mistaken for a man all the time. A very handsome man obviously

Mossie · 13/06/2007 12:02

Oh horlicks it isn't Kitty again!!

Will have to find something else to watch with grizzly baby now!!

Rosy I look as cute as it's possible to look with bags under my eyes down to my chin!

Mossie · 13/06/2007 14:21

I have washed the baby sling and it has shrunk in the wash.

ARRRGH!!!!

muppethasakitten · 13/06/2007 15:06

Mossy that's the sort of thing I do all the time. I'm lethal with a washing machine.

When oh when will it be Kitty!

Did something stupid today at riding. Was talked into putting the horse back in her field be riding her there bareback with just a headcollar on holding the leadrope like a rein. Well she spooked at a tractor and I got royally dumped. Don't think anything's broken but my back is bloody killing! So stupid of me to have done it... keep thinking how much worse it could have been and how would I have been able to look after Samuel if I'd broken my arm (or worse).

I'd be interested to know if you all think it's a risk I shouldn't be taking at the moment???

divastrop · 13/06/2007 16:42

wow mossy that dress is gorgeous!i want one,and its within my price range.what are the sizes like, are they normal or do they come out smaller or bigger?

rosy-what online game does your sister play?i really dont understand the attraction of those things, but then dp doesnt understand my obsession with my 'moany old women' site

mossy(again)-how long have you been on prozac?i had my dose upped to 40mg just over 3 weeks ago and im still waiting fot it to kick in.i was atlking to a friend about it yesterday and she said it takes 6 weeks like it does when you first start taking it.

i was wondering why i still felt like crap even though af's been and gone

where was i?i just had to go and wake ds2 upi hope he isnt coming down with something again.

muppet-i dont know anything about horses but i wouldnt say you were taking silly risks personally.accidents can happen anytime, anywhere.

Mossie · 13/06/2007 17:42

Muppet I'm with Diva, you take a risk just by crossing the road... I think as long as you're careful you should keep doing the horse riding.

Diva I've been on the Prozac for three weeks now, kicked in after the second week, 20mg per day. The first two weeks were horrible though, I actually felt much worse!

The dress ... well it was 2003; I think I got a size sixteen - I was a big sixteen back then and it fit really well, so I suspect they are a teeny bit on the large side.

They have dresses in white, too, if you want a more traditional feel.

muppethasakitten · 13/06/2007 19:36

I just looked at the website mossy - (not that i'm planning on getting married again!) and they have some amazing dresses on there (obviously yours is the best!) and I saw the ones in white - they looked cool as well.

sazzybee · 13/06/2007 20:06

muppet I think you should carry on riding too but maybe avoid tractors?

we had a good day today - had a few friends over for lunch with their babies and they were very impressed that Elliot was down for a nap during the day and made me feel quite the supermum My poor friend Nic's baby is nearly 6 months and still wakes twice a night for feeds and she's got two other kids.

diva - that bridesmaid dress is gorgeous as is your wedding dress mossie. It's only the dresses that make me sad I've never got married

I was going to wear the dress I got to go to the 'do' to a birthday picnic on Sunday as you're supposed to dress like you're going to henley but realised last night I can't bf in it. I have nothing pretty to wear that I can bf in discreetly
