KaybeeandZak · 09/07/2007 19:25

hi everyone
hope you are all okay
sorry to hear about your gran Podglet and hope you're feeling better now NJ
everyones bubbas look adorable

Zak still has no teeth but i am sure they must be on their way as he has been pretty grizzly lately and not been sleeping well. I feel like i am way behind on this eating thing, Zak hasnt really got to grips with chewing, so if i give him pieces of everything he just tries to swallow it and then chokes! How can i teach him to chew properly???? About all he can cope with are rice cakes and banana. . . . .

have added a couple of new pics of Zak

AlfieJacksmummy · 09/07/2007 19:31

Ahhh Kaybee Zac is such a cutie!!

Does anyone know what to do with a pysco baby? Alfie used to be the most content laid back baby ever, the last 2 weeks he is so stroppy and kicks and punches when having one of his hissy fits and goes purple in the face and screams!
It takes me ages to calm him down and he is doing it more and more, Im exhausted!!!!
What do you do when they have a mind of their own so to speak but are still to young to reason with please help!!!
Also is anyone having their babies sleeping in their own room yet or considering it yet?

KaybeeandZak · 09/07/2007 19:42

thanks ajs mummy we think so

Zak has been in his own room since 4 months. He is right next door to us so i can hear him just fine so thou it was scary at first not having him with us, we havent been worried at all. . .

Can't really help re the tantrums, thou Zak is pretty stroppy sometimes he's not having full on tantrums just yet

podglet · 09/07/2007 19:57

Hi Kaybee, lovely pics not sure about the choking thing I'm afraid, I give DS quite chunky bits of food that he has to bite bits off or post tiny bits in for him (though he hates that - much prefers to do it himself)

AJM - re the strop thing, with DS if he has a paddy, he gets popped in his cot with nursery rhymes on the tape player and then I leave the room. I only go back when he's A)quiet or B) it's gone on for more than 5 - 7 mins. TBH it has never gone on for more than a couple of mins, most of it is attention seeking and so if I ignore him, he cottons on to the fact that mummy much prefers the happy smiley boy

AlfieJacksmummy · 09/07/2007 20:41

Thanks Podglet will give that a try, must admit I did put him in there with his lulabys playing earlier cos he got himself in such a state he did calm down so will keep doing that I think.
Kaybee - Thats the good thing about our new house, I was going to start him off straight in his own room cos the bedrooms are close togther and I can shut the cats downstairs so can leave his door open although Im dreading not having him next to me I know he will sleep better cos dp's snoring and getting up for work early! (think I might sleep in with Alfie actually

Another proble (God dont I half moan!) he ALWAYS pulls my hair, basically it is so long nowe cos I havent been to the hairdressers for yonks it doesnt hurt too much anymore if he grabs a big handful, but his new trick is to pull the little baby hairs at the back of my neck and it makes my eyes water! Im really close to having it all cut off, I would love too but it is so thick and wavy it wouldn't go and my face is too round (huff huff huff!!)

KaybeeandZak · 09/07/2007 22:20

ha ha ha i know exactly what you mean about the hair pulling, Zak is exactly the same, he pulls all my baby hairs or whispy bits! It's so annoying as it really hurts.
He also likes to pull dh's leghairs or chest hairs if he can get to them! Grandpas beard is another favourite

Charlee · 10/07/2007 07:26

I know what you mean about hair pulling, i get that along with face scratching and pinching! ouch! I just remove his hand, look him directly in the eyes and firmly say 'no', it doesn't work but i figure as he gets older it might do. It bloomin hurts though, Jack never did it!

Harry has a new game now, he likes to hold onto the side of the coffee table or onto my shoulders while he bounces up and down manicaly! He is still not crawling properly but can get around he rocks so violently whe he is on fours it kind of propells him across the room!

I had anther yoga session yesterday, they have this amazing relaxation/meditation session at the end i come out of it feeling all light and floaty and completley relaxed its great!

We are officially on the councils housing scheme now, we got a letter in from Jacks specialist. I had a sneak peak at the letter before i handed it in and kind of wished i haden't.
It was along the lines of 'Jack has a limited life as it is, it would be brutal and unjust to leave him in a propertly that will limit it even more.' and even though i already knew that it was really upsetting to read but in the scale of things it may make the council sit up and take notice now.

mygirllollipop · 10/07/2007 08:48

Oh yes hair pulling!
Charlee - I hope the hospital used shock tactics for the council letter, rather than to shock and distress you.
DD3 also stands then squats then stands, she loves to play hide and boo.

podglet · 10/07/2007 08:57

DS thankfully doesn't pull my hair as such, he tugs my fringe as I am changing his nappy and if he is tired and having a cuddle he will reach round to stroke my hair (awww) but Daddy is a different matter. DS loves to yank his chest hair, armpit hair (ha ha) anything he can get hold of really DP finds it far less funny than I do...

Charlee - it sounds like your Dr is trying to make a point to the council (you have to be very clear with them I have found) rather than distress you. As mygirl said, the shock tactic might work in your favour. Have a hug, you need it - I could do with one of your yoga sessions

Re the own room thing, DS has been in his own room since the end of March. He is a fidget just like me and neither of us was sleeping well. Nights have been much better since - if only I could cure DP horrid snoring

mygirllollipop · 10/07/2007 09:03

Oh yeah, grandads mustache was a favourite pulling thing too.
DD4 is getting really fidgety and likes to have a BF with her on her front to go to sleep as of the last week, when we move I am putting her in her own room (well with her sisters!).

Charlee · 10/07/2007 09:04

Thanks i think they dod to, although i do know what they said was true as it was made very clear to us the possible outcome of CF but yes i think the Dr put it so bluntly to get the council moving, they deffo didn't do it to upset me because im not sure i was supposed to read it!

Im ok though like i said before i know it's true but it is alittle upsetting to see it directly linked to jacks name and actually in words.

Charlee · 10/07/2007 09:14

That was ment to be i think the did do.

R.E - sleeping in own rooms, Harry sleeps in what was the boys playroom, he sleeps in there fine. I give him a bottle then put him in his cot with his mobile on and he's asleep in minutes from 6pm - 5am.

I can't wait untill we move though i am going to do both the boys rooms out in themes, i am a good decorator of kids rooms (even if i do say so myself!) Im going to do jacks in an underwater theme and Harry's in a jungle theme as i already have a set of furniture that i have painted Jungle scenes on.

mygirllollipop · 10/07/2007 10:08

Oh forgot to say I put more photots on my profile!
Just listing some stuff on ebay before the big move. Need the space and the money. I love a good clear out.

saralou · 10/07/2007 10:10

morning all!!

i have a hair puller, pincher, grabber too.. it really pee's me off sometimes 'cause it bloody hurts! he swiftly gts put on the floor... he has actually made me cry pulling on my hair so hard and refusing to let go, little s*d!

ryan's been in his own room since he was about 8 -9 weeks old.. theirs not enough room in bedroom for a cot and the piles of clothes all over the floor i always have monitor on so we can hear them (dp is deaf and i'm a heavy sleeper sometimes) even though they're right next door!!

charlee well done on the yoga... i did it once... probably not sensible to do before a night shift, by 3am i was in so much pain and stiff!! i discovered muscles i didn't realise were their!! never again!! sorry about your letter, must have been a harsh read... still, fingers crossed it gets you moved quickly!!

kaybee, zaks very scrummy!

ryan's into the bouncing while standing thing at the moment... loves his door bouncer! hope fully i'm gonna get him weighed today... also gotta get 2 new tyres for the car, had it serviced on satuday and the front 2 are illegal

ds1 has just fallen asleep on one of the dining table chairs under the table... odd child... he's also poo'd and it stinks!!!

Charlee · 10/07/2007 13:39

I have just been looking through all your pictures ladies and i must say we all do have lovley, gorgeous children which i figure must mean we are in turn rather beautiful to?

SleeplessInTheStaceym11House · 10/07/2007 15:17

Hi everyone!

RIght catch up, cant remember who wrote what so bear with me.

SLeeping in own rooms - ds went into dds room not long after 6 months, i was more worried about him waking her up if he screamed but she pays no attention what so ever!!

sandwiches - ds has cheese spread/jam/marmite as hes not brill at chewing so meats a still a little way off! ds feeds himself with sandwiches etc and gets most of it in now!!

i only trust him with non messy dinners atm tho! if it's anything messy i still tend to feed him as i cant stand too much dinner spread around!

well my zapp has been sold for financial reasons! but im getting a new singel buggy which is cheaper and more suitable anyway, hey ho!

and talking of financial reasons my dad has agreed to pay for my driving lessons for christmas and my 21st birthday! so il be off and travelling soon!

saralou · 10/07/2007 15:41

ryan is 19lb 10oz i really am suprised... i would have guessed around 18lb!!! must be all this food he's eating! so far today, a whole weetabix... 2 rice cakes.... slice of toast with mashed up egg followed by a banana and peach puree... and he's just eaten 2 biscuits! and he's had 3 8oz bottles so far! the pig! i think thats more than ds1 has eaten today!!!

charlee, lol! my boys look like their dad... god knows why their so cute (he isn't)!

LadyAnne1stTimeMum · 10/07/2007 22:24

Hi all

HR lady (who I sort of know) tried to make the meeting as painfree as possible although I did mention that it was a damning report (I've got the third best IT skills in the Team!) but with recurring health problems (old injury on wrist getting worse with all the typing and file shifting) and the deep down fact that I can't stand doing Administration, I basically let them get on with it - I have to have a meeting with the vice principal (another sort of friend - so that'll be tough) and then I'll definitely be leaving the team - whether I work notice or have 'gardening leave' (nice for summer) I don't know. I have been pointed in the direction of the person who runs a department I have more interest in and I had a nice chat - but she won't have anything until the new academic year in September. My confidence is still a bit low so I'll be going in as a learning support assistant with a view to getting my teaching up to date. I have to have a chat with the nursery - I think I may still have a space for Taro regardless - I just need to confirm it. Being in limbo really doesn't help.

Podglet Re: Grandmother - DP's Grandma is in Hospital - she hasn't eaten for over a week and is resisiting all attempts to keep her well. I think she's had enough (she is 87!)it's a hard time and as I have a chest infection - it's not a good idea to go and see her. All we can do is hope that she has her wish to go with dignity and remember the positive times.

Re: Own room - we only have a two bed cottage and with my friends visiting from the US (once in a lifetime holiday for my goddaughter) I've suggested we keep Taro in with us until that is over - luckily he is a quiet baby when asleep. Once they've returned home - Taro has his own room and any other visitor can have either the sofa or pitch a tent in our little garden.

Anyhow - I've gone on far too long - no idea what Taro weighs - haven't even got a HV at the moment and have no idea when he'll get his health check.

Ah well - see you later have a good rest of evening.
All the best - LA

SleeplessInTheStaceym11House · 11/07/2007 10:26

saralou glad your little boy is thriving!

well i start driving lessons on sat, god only knows if we're gunna be able to afford for me to have a car as dd is set on not letting me do my delivering she just sits in the buggy and screams the whole time!!! which doesnt look good when im having to leave the buggy at the bottom of peoples drives. might get dh to look after them some evenings and do it then!

saralou · 11/07/2007 10:50

Happy Birthday AJM - hope you have a lovely day, sounds like a nice start We went out on our own at Eaater and my mum babysat, it was weird but quite nice! I have now been out twice in the evening on my own - that was also weird (didn't know what to do with my hands without a buggy to push)

Stacey - lovely new pics! Good luck with the driving lessons. I am v as I will never be able to drive (registered partially sighted)

LA, glad the meeting wasn't too awful. Hope you get the change of direction you are looking for? If I may be so rude, what's up with your hand? I have just been diagnosed with carpal tunnel in my right hand and tendonitis in the left so I can sympathise.
