@lydiangel83 I was struggling with day sleeps until about 2 weeks ago when it all sort of clicked into place. It doesn't come without problems though, Bea wants to sleep at the same time our baby groups are on.

And if something disrupts the routine I pay heavily for it! Yesterday it was my grandads funeral, Bea was looked after by DSIL who did a wonderful job of looking after her, but it through Bea out and she woke up at 3am demanding a bottle. I feel like a zombie right now.

I have found Bea tends to be awake for around 1.5/2 hours then needs a nap.

Hazandduck · 19/05/2018 07:54

Sorry for your loss, @sock, hope the funeral went ok.

I feel like we are going backwards sleep wise! About a week ago it was like having a newborn again. I am trying to move Matilda from the Moses basket to a Next to me cot because she is just too big for the Moses now! Any way, she hates it being so spacious, she actually wakes us up screaming a few times a night now when she had been sleeping through from about 8pm until 7am. It just makes you feel so drained! I know it’s frowned upon but the last week or so she has slept in my arms from 4am until 7 because I just can’t put her down and I am too tired.

Strangely though she had naps in her own room in the much bigger cot yesterday without any problem for nearly 2 hours each time. (She is down to about 3 naps a day now, 2 big ones and one or two micro naps.)

We are off to Ibiza tomorrow and I feel like I am mad to be taking a 6mo abroad! Need to get packing xx

Topsyloulou · 19/05/2018 13:11

We're struggling a bit with naps too. I think she's ready to drop from 3 to 2 but she's not quite having long enough on her long nap, only about 1 hour & 20 minutes & is really want her to be getting closer to 2 hours. She's done a couple of days this week where she's been awake from 1pm until bed at 7. That's been hard going especially with DS needing dinner etc. Luckily DP has actually been at home this week so has been able to take over when he gets back from work. She's also waking up at 4 most mornings, she goes back to sleep until 5.30 but then she's awake for the day & it's now waking DS up too so I've got both of them up from 6am.

@Hazandduck if she's settling in the cot I'd skip the next to me & just move her into there. Im impressed that she's fitted in the Moses basket so long, Iris was out by about 12 weeks but she is super long, her 6-9 month sleep suits & leggings don't have a lot of room left already!

How's everyone getting on with weaning? Iris is starting to get the idea, so far cheese is her favourite! She's only eating tiny tiny amounts & she's going less & less time between milk feeds now so I know she's needing more it's just a struggle to get it into her. I'm going to try 3 meals a day this week & see if that makes a difference. It's hard fitting it in around naps & milk.

Hazandduck · 21/05/2018 22:07

Haha she has barely fitted in it @Topsy! Her face is always squished in the side, but she actually likes that and cries if I move her. Ah I would totally do that but we bought the next to me so we could take it on holiday as our travel cot and I wanted her to be used to it before we got here.

It’s rubbish isn’t it! I have tried to put off properly weaning until we get back from holiday just because of the hassle but she grabs food off us and cries for food now when it gets to dinner time (5pm-ish.) I am loving weaning though, she never refuses food we offer and she loves picking up those melty crisp things and eating those which is good to entertain her whilst we eat or prep her food. X

GingerHanna · 22/05/2018 19:51

We’re doing baby led weaning and Joseph is doing really well. We give him something half an hour after his milk feed and so far so good.

Yesterday we found he really likes asparagus but not raspberries! He is very messy, as you would expect. These pictures are from Mother’s Day (different date here in the Netherlands) when we had pancakes and strawberries.

Ahh such cute pics @gingerhanna!
We're on 3 meals a day with a mixture of purees and finger food depending on Freddie's mood because sometimes he just won't let me feed him. I've been cooking a few Pinterest recipes which have been good.

We're going camping this weekend - I'm feeling slightly daunted by the prospect of camping with a baby but also looking forward to it.

butterybollocks · 23/05/2018 10:10

I should also say that we've stepped up to three meals really quickly because it's always been a battle trying to get F to take his milk... But thankfully he is loving having solids!

GingerHanna · 24/05/2018 17:24

Oh my word the nappies! My supply died a death when I had my first period since getting pregnant (one month ago) and this is now aligned with him really eating so the contents are no longer weirdly sweet smelling breast milk 💩 but stinky formula and real food nasty stuff! 😷

I’m told it gets worse when you feed them meat. Joy.

In other news he has been playing roly poly today so it seems we will need to babyproof the place this weekend. Dammit. At least we got to just about seven months before it became an issue!

Zampa · 25/05/2018 10:47

Morning all! We're just back from a camping trip. I'll admit that I'll not be doing it again in a hurry! LO is still waking up 4/5 times a night and was up for the day at 0530 due to sunrise. Will wait until she's not breastfeeding before trying again, I think.

The good news is that we've got to 6 months old and she's finally understanding weaning. She's gobbling up food and is desperate to feed herself. I'm not going to tackle BLW just yet as she's not dextrous enough but she's a bit annoyed with me about that!

The nappies definitely get worse @gingerhanna! Toddler poo is grim!

Have great holidays @hazandduck and @butterybollocks.

Just popping in to join in the nappy talk, due to Bea really enjoying weaning we are getting multiple stinky nappies every day. I hope it calms down soon!

We are just on our way home from Cornwall, our first family holiday. Bea enjoyed the beach, the swimming pool and a her first lick of an icecream.

lydiangel83 · 25/05/2018 20:23

We have Liliana's christening on Sunday, she has a horrendous chest infection and has barely stopped crying all day :( can't be worse timing lol. Hope you guys all ok did

Zampa · 25/05/2018 22:50

Hope she gets well soon @lydiangel83.

Please can you remind me so if your Instagram names? I've rejoined for something to do since cutting back on my Twitter. Swapping one vice for another, it seems!

PerculiarGinger for me...

Zampa · 26/05/2018 19:53

I've followed you both. Some very cute baby photos!

@theotherendofthesockportal I accidentally unfollowed you (Luddite!) so think you need to approve me again!

Current sulking in my room after an argument with DP. He's always using a screen at dinner time and it really annoys me!

theotherendofthesockportal · 26/05/2018 22:41

@GingerHanna I've followed you and @Zampa I think we should be connected on there again?

theotherendofthesockportal · 26/05/2018 22:48

P.s @Zampa I hope everything is ok with you and your DH now? I get annoyed with mine all the time, things are good at the moment as being on holiday made us friends again.

Zampa · 26/05/2018 22:50

I've been watching films in bed whilst DD2 sleeps next to me. It'll be fine tomorrow!

@lydiangel83 hope the christening goes well today & you have a lovely day celebrating. Hope Liliana has recovered enough to enjoy it.

lydiangel83 · 28/05/2018 00:18

Thanks so much all we had a very poorly baby at her own christening but she put on a good show at the critical moments bless her and worked out ok. I am beyond tired have barely slept all week plus family around plus a tragic bereavement last weekend to put it all in perspective. A great friend of mine lost her baby girl at 39+5 :-( hope you're all ok my instagram is mamasinpyjamas xx

Zampa · 28/05/2018 09:25

That's such awful news @lydiangel83. I hope that your friend gets some answers as to what happened and can find peace in the future.

Glad to hear that Liliana was a good girl.

Awful mothering day today.

I let lo roll off the bed and then she threw up whilst gagging on some cheese muffin.

Just when I think I've got it together!

theotherendofthesockportal · 29/05/2018 18:30

@Zampa I've had a shit day - literally. A bird pooped through the open window on my car and it went all the down the inside of the door. Luckily I had baby wipes and antibacterial and gel in the car, a clear bonus to being a mother. Then Bea was sick down my cleavage, inside my t - shirt. As a result of all the above I haven't exactly being my usual bright and cheery self so worry I'm not being interactive enough for my little girl.

@lydiangel83 pleased to hear the christening went well. I hope Liliana feels better soon.

I want to go and lie in a darkened room and mope but DH is putting down new flooring and it's loud, but needs to be done.

Hazandduck · 31/05/2018 10:49

That’s awful @lydia :( so sorry to hear that about your friend.
Omg @sock that is terrible luck! How does that even happen lol.
Sorry people are having crappy days, we’ve been having a bad week sleeping wise! We got back from holiday on the weekend and decided it was time for Tildy to go in her own room. She’s been napping in there fine, but wakes up so much in the night now when she had been such a good sleeper.
Last night, miracle, she went down at 7pm and slept until 4...except she kept rolling on her front! Gave me a flipping heart attack looking on the video monitor to see her facedown, I know they say it’s ok but she still hasn’t really mastered the rolling back on the her back from rolling on to her front. So she slept much better but me and DH were up most of the night checking her with hearts in mouths.
She woke up at 4 because she was stuck on her front and when I ran in her room she was really lifting herself up on her hands and knees, think she couldn’t figure out how to move from that position 🙈We said it’s like a new newborn phase this changing bed malarkey!

Hope everyone is well :) has anyone gone back to work yet? I’ve started keeping in touch days doing 9-1 on Tuesdays I thought it would be awful but it is actually not too bad leaving her for a few hours xx
