Thought i would start the offical May 2007 thread as it is May and we have now had our first offical May baby - even though we have 6 naughty babies who queue jumped and arrived in April .

Probably be a while before there are many messages but a least we have a thread now

am registering birth on fri first thing - let me now what you two decide and i'll see if i can make it! still v knackered from c-section so can't do very much...

LupinsBigLump · 22/05/2007 18:44

PJ I know they dont recommend it but I have just put Arlen to sleep on his front - its the 1st time he has slept quietly, on his back he is sooooo noisy even keeps dp awake - who i should add can sleep through the dog barking lol, also did you have an epidural as that can cause backache for quite a while, either that or your boobs have grown so big they are straining your back which i am sure is why i have had a bit of backache

Well done on the weight lose peeps, I have managed to squeeze into a pair of pre preg trousers today, but what hung over the top was not a pretty sight - still am chuffed to have got them over my bum which i couldnt do a month ago

BB olive oil will get rid of the scale, if you want something fancy then waitrose do a really nice cradle cap oil but i have been using it on A all over, and a nice massage will help bonding

SKY 4-5 hours at night OMG that is fab, you lucky thing

Cant believe he is so quiet sleeping on his front its bliss, both of them are fast asleep am off to get picnic food ready for tomorrow, we are hitting legoland!!

Looks like its getting busy next door should be a few more of us in her in a few days

Mrsjaffabiffa · 22/05/2007 20:22

evening all

So glad everyone is healing and coping well.

Jorja is a flaky one too, but it does go in time, i remember it well from H&M.

Not had a very good day today, feeling very tearful, keep bursting into tears for NO reason. Bloomin Hormones. I remember warning AM about day 5 blues. I'm on day 6 but I think they've hit.

"zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz" Expect we all need some of them so thought I'd dish them out.

AbbyLou · 22/05/2007 21:19

Hi guys, how's tricks? Ruby has had a much more settled day today and behaved impeccably on her visit to school to see my old class! They were so sweet, they all wanted to touch and stroke her and she wasn't phased at all. She has slept better during the day today and her feeding has been slightly more regular. I know this is a bit of a gross question but by 2 weeks old should her poo be formed or not? I can't remember from last time but hers is still like yellow sludge! It's just runny yellow liquid - she is bottle fed by the way. She was sick tonight for the first time which threw us a bit. She hasn't been even a tiny bit sick before but she was quite sick after her bath. I think it may be because she had a bottle just before her bath.
Tomorrow we are going into Derby to register her birth and have a wander round the shops which will be nice. We haven't been since moving here a year ago as it's just too much hassle with ds. We have all the shops we need in town here but it's nice to go to the big smoke every now and then.
Well, must go, ironing's calling. Best wishes for a peaceful night everyone. Hope you feel better soon Mrs JB, I had my blues on day 6 too and I was a nightmare!

SKYTVADDICT · 22/05/2007 21:48

Hi AL

Sorry don't know about bottle fed poo. We are b/f so don't see an end in sight to the yellow runny stuff.

We are registering birth tomorrow too and intending to do coffee in the morning and lunch with a different set of friends. Hope I'm not taking on too much.

You all seem to be doing so well post c section - I am 17 days on and still bursting into tears at the slightest little thing.

LupinsBigLump · 22/05/2007 22:06

Abbeylou we are bottle feeding and it is still yellow sludge, dont think it really changes until you introduce foods - urghhhh gross

I did get a bit emotional around that time but put it down to being away from baby, wasnt all teary either was getting very cross

Right off to get night time bottles ready and scoot myself off to bed - cant believe the amount of stuff I have got ready to take 2 kids to Legoland

Creena · 23/05/2007 09:51

Hullo everyone! I didn't realise that there was a May 07 PN thread - d'oh! How nice to see everyone here!

Conor is 2 weeks old today. I can't imagine what life was like without him. We're all still completely besotted with him. He's a really good baby. He's having something of a growth spurt at the moment and fed like a mad thing yesterday. He seems more settled today so here's hoping that he'll go back to feeding every 3 to 4 hours. Breastfeeding going well so far, which is a huge relief. Have got the Health Visitor coming for the first time this morning and the house is a tip. Normally I'd be all panicked about it and running around cleaning but I'm actually thinking "sod it, I've got a 2 week old to look after. She'll have to lump it!"

Conor has some dry skin too but slathering him in oil of an evening seems to be sorting it out. Anyway. Must dash - sounds like Conor's gearing up for his next feed. Catch you all later!

juliewoolie · 23/05/2007 10:44

hey, you all seem to be doing fab babies feeding well etc.

Quick one for BB, JL and I cant do this week but do you fancy Tues lunch? That is our due dates so we figure arranging something then might spur on the babs to make an appearance.

BefnalBub · 23/05/2007 11:30

good idea JL.

just been to doctors and they are taking me off the beta blockers for high BP which i've been taking since pre-birth. they make me feel like i'm walking through mud and i thought that was from the op. hopefully by this time tomorrow activity won't seem such an enormous drag. isn't exactly helpful when you are looking after a newborn. we shall see.

on that note... off for lunch

anneme · 23/05/2007 12:30

hello all - just been catching up on the antenatal thread - sounds like there will be LOADS of people streaming onto this thread in the next 24 hours.

Scary moment last night. Was reading to DS1 in bed - he went off to the loo and called me to wipe his bottom (I love the glam bits of motherhood). Put Samuel down in the middle (I know you are not meant to but it was better than the floor) of the bed and went to help. DS1 ran back into his room and pulled his duvet off his bed - AAARGH didn't notice Samuel lying there. I came in to find DS1 on floor hiding under duvet and Samuel lying on bed rocking slightly from having the duvet pulled from underneath him. I think DS1 did it so quickly (like those magicians who pull tablecloths off tables leaving the crockery) that Samuel was virtually untouched. I, on the other hand, was a gibbering wreck. THE GUILT!!!

Will come back soon - off to feed S again. Have been told to do so as much as poss to get rid of jaundice. Seems to be doing a good job on my baby blubber too! S doing well - dropped a bit of weight last week but had his two week weigh in yesterday and is 10lb 1oz so is over birth weight. NOte to self - must go and eat more chocolate....

AbbyLou · 23/05/2007 14:20

Afternoon everyone, hope you're all ok. We've been to register Ruby this morning and had a wander round town which was nice. I couldn't resist just one little outfit for her - I thought that was very restrained! Dh has gone off to work now and ds is at the cm so it's just me and Ruby. The house seems so quiet when ds isn't here but it's nice to have some time alone with Ruby and actually get some housework done! It's a beautiful day so we may venture out into the garden in a bit and find a nice bit of shade to relax under.

aprilmeadow · 23/05/2007 17:19

Hi there lovely ladies

Well we both had our 6wk checks today and are both fine and dandy Then then the HV came and weighed Ella, she now weighs in at 8lbs 10oz - thats a 3lb gain in 6wks and all my own doing so very pleased

Managed to get her to sleep in her basket in our room for 2.5hrs this afternoon which was a first. Had to go and poke her several times to make sure she was ok even though i have the monitor wired up!

MrsJB hope you are ok...... if you wanna chat i am only at the end of the phone/ Glad you like the outfits Will be nice for you to see L tomorrow though

Cant wait to see how many more babies arrive this week.

Just going to feed E and sit in the sunshine.

Love to all xx

Creena good to have you with us, glad all is going well

Anneme I have been in stitches at duvet incident, I bet your heart sank at 1st didnt it, Willow had moved arlen the other day, had to get her to show me how she did it as I had visions of her dragging him

AM OMG at the weight of your little one, you are doing so well, really looking forward to seeing her next week

We will get to Legoland eventually - we drove all the flippin way there and it was bloody well closed, dp said "unlike you to check that kind of thing" wtf is a place like that doing being shut on a day like today anyway we are trying again tomorrow - if anything goes wrong this time i am ripping up annual passes and swearing loudly while stamping feet

Can you tell i am feeling tense today, having a fed up day, altho have been enjoying the sunshine, would have been much worse if i had been cooped up inside, must get round to chaning my user name

AbbyLou · 23/05/2007 19:39

Oh Lupin, sorry you didn't get your day out after all that organising - you did very well not to slap your dh after that comment.
We've had a difficult day today. R seems to be increasingly crying and is so hard to settle in the afternoon/evening. She's brilliant at night so I am getting some good chunks of sleep but she is like a different baby in the day time, particularly afternoons. She cries and fusses so I feed her then she won't take the whole bottle. She then falls asleep for 5 minutes and wakes up crying again. I feel like I'm constantly feeding her to calm her down. I just wisj=h she would be like she is at night - wake hungry, drink whole bottle then back to sleep. When she is awake in the day she seems to want to be held all the time and it's really hard work. I feel awful because I left her to cry tonight. I was in tears sitting here listening through the monitor but I think she has finally gone. I'm not sure what I really think about leaving her to cry. I did do it to an extent with ds but he always settled fairly well. It seems to have worked tonight but I had to left her quite a while. Hopefully it will teach her to settle herself to sleep but I don't know if that is too ambitious or cruel!

juliewoolie · 23/05/2007 20:19

Abbeylou you are not being cuel you just need a break.I know when I was nannying I had 2 boys and the youngest one wouldnt settle during the day for ages and I had to put him in his cot and walk away for half an hour I even turned off the monitor as it was difficult listening to him cry. Its hard going but R will get better. Good luck

AbbyLou · 23/05/2007 20:38

Thanks Julie. I know I'm doing the right thing, it's just so hard when she's so little! Because ds is older now I have forgotten the early days I think, he just goes to sleep now without any problem. I've just checked them and they're both sound asleep and look very peaceful so I feel better.

juliewoolie · 23/05/2007 21:11

good now get yourself in the bath and have a soak and relax.

Lupins71 · 23/05/2007 22:21

Abbey have you tried giving cooled boiled water instead of milk maybe she is thirsty rather than hungry also it will fill her a bit but not really then when you offer milk soon after she will be properly hungry, it will also help with poos in case she is uncomortable because of that, my hv said bottle fed babies should b offered water every day, hope tomorrows a better day xx

nannyjo · 23/05/2007 22:28

Hi all.

I should have had a june baby (11th) but had a May baby instead (14th) so i'll have to move over to this thread if tat is ok with everyone?

So far so good with DS. He was born exactly 4 weeks early but shows no effects of that what so evr except slight jaundice. He is feeding well but gets unsettled at night ( i think it's too quiet!) But has been better the last 2 nights running so i feel slightly more human today

I hope you guys are all well too and tat you are enjoying baby.

nannyjo · 23/05/2007 22:38

Does anyone have any ideas on where to get a keepsake box and baby record book by the way. I went ino whsmiths today and it was £20 for the book!!!!!

I'm sure i never paid that when i got one for DS1 but i can't remember where i got it from

aprilmeadow · 24/05/2007 06:22

Hi NannyJo, i have bought boxes from The Beautiful Box Co they are really lovely and you can have the baby's name and dob put on it. Welcome to the thread!

Abbey - dont beat yourself up about letting R cry. I have started to do the same thing with E. As much as i love cuddling her, i cant do it 24/7! How is she at bringing up wind? My hv said to try giving E Infacol before feeds as she was not giving much wind then crying as if she wanted more milk but would only suck for a short time then either vom or go to sleep. Could R have a touch of colic?? How old is she?? Dont know if i am making sense or have been any help.....

Bloody Army were setting off explosives between 4.30 and 5am this morning woke me and then woke ds hence being up and on line at this stupid time!

Hope you manage to get a bit more sleep. Have a great time at legoland. We were thinking of taking J there for his birthday last month but decided that he might be a little bit too young to enjoy it.

Hi all,

we finally seem to be taking off as an antenatal group.

I haven't had much time for MNetting. I am finding life with three busy but really good!!

DD is a little gem. Feeding four hourly on the bottle and breastfeeding in between. She was three weeks old yesterday - still a little dot. See my profile for a new pic. She is still under 7lbs and not regained her birth weight. She's feeding very well though so I am not too stressed about it. Just a shame that she doesn't fit into any of the gorgeous clothes which were showered on us before she arrived.

The DS's seem to have settled down now - thank goodness. DS2 in particular, was a real handful after her arrival.

Anyway, so glad to hear that all the May babies are doing well.

Love
Dejags
xx

dejags · 24/05/2007 10:39

duh... that should read postnatal group... duh
