Thought i would start the offical May 2007 thread as it is May and we have now had our first offical May baby - even though we have 6 naughty babies who queue jumped and arrived in April .

Probably be a while before there are many messages but a least we have a thread now

evenin' all. Took my 1 week old for a walk in the park today. Nearly finished me off!

thanks for tips re BF. however much we 'wind' her cue us holding to shoulder and patting, lying on front on lap & patting, laying at 45 degree angle on knees and watching...have never managed to get a single burp. she does get hiccoughs sometimes though. hmmm. did do the jigging around between boob feeds tonight and no puke yet so maybe its doing something that i'm missing .

just had yummy 10 minute gorgonzola pasta (heat cheese, lump of butter, milk, nutmeg & black pepper in pan til boil then switch off, add chopped red pepper. stir through spaghetti and leave to infuse for 5 mins before serving. have with toasted sunflower & pumpkin seeds and salad.)

anyone else around tonight?

AbbyLou · 20/05/2007 22:14

Hi, I'm here. I'm proud of myself for finally getting round to completing my profile and adding some pics of my two - it's taken ages!
We've had a day in the garden today as the weather has been ack to lovely again. Ds loved planting the flowers he chose from the Garden Centre into a pot and was proudly watering them for ages. He looked so cute with his little tools and watering can.
R was out with us in the pram laying in the shade with her pram shade over her. I think the fresh air completely zonked her out though as she lept for ages and then didn't want to go to sleep tonight!

BefnalBub · 20/05/2007 23:06

Lovely pics AL!

Finally done the 8th feed in 2 hours, DP is doing the 5th nappy, and she appears to be sleepy.

going to bed in hope!

night night

AbbyLou · 21/05/2007 09:15

Morning everyone, hope you've all had a decent night's sleep. Ruby was really good last night. She had a cluster feed from about 6-7, then a bath and then another little drop of milk. It took a while to settle her but she only woke at 12.10 and then 4.50 so I was well pleased. The problem is ds has a terrible cough which is waking him up early in the morning. He's had it for weeks now and it's really geting on his nerves. He doesn't realy cough much during the day it just seems to be in the evening and early morning. We're off to toddler group this morning so he can let off some steam. Looks like being another nice day so hopefully we'll get out in the garden again.

LupinsBigLump · 21/05/2007 11:06

Will catch up with you all bit later, eyes too bleary to focus let alone take it in have has about 2hrs sleep, feel zoned

Right off to try and get something done today

aprilmeadow · 21/05/2007 13:31

Hi there

Last night was pretty much the same as any other night so no complaining here. Although we were woken up several times by the bloody cat trying to dig her way through the door into our room

Both dc are asleep so all is quiet for now!

Lupins, sounds great! Have marked it in diary. What time??

OP posts:
AbbyLou · 21/05/2007 17:17

This thread is very quiet isn't it? MAybe everyone's is still too zombified to come and post!!
Ruby has had a very unsettled day today. We went to toddler group this morning and she was fine there. She had a little whinge but when the older children started singing it sent her to sleep - goodness knows how! She woke up at 1pm and was fed and she has been awake ever since. She's had a few little cat naps of about 10 minutes but keeps wakingup crying. I had forgotten about that bit. The times when you've fed them, burped them, chaged their nappy, played, cuddled and STILL they're crying! Ds has actually been very tolerant of her seeing as though he has not had much attention today. R has finally fallen asleep just now but I don't know how long for. Hopefully it means we'll have a quiet night as she catches up on her sleep....

BefnalBub · 21/05/2007 23:14

AL hope you have a quiet night! We took L to Oxford street today and she was very good. Just about getting the hang of B'feeding in public - by no means easy when she loves to open her mouth widest when she is facing away from the nipple! Getting L weighed by the midwife tomorrow - bit nervous... on the upside, i've lost 10 kilos already so she must have got some of it .

night night

LupinsBigLump · 22/05/2007 07:58

Yipeeee I feel human again, changed his milk to sma gold and a good swaddling, feed 8.30 - 12.00 - 3.00 - 6.00 yipeeeee that'll do nicely thankyou

Abbey we went to childrens disco sunday and A slpet all the way through (aoart from feeding time) strange things, must be a myth shhh you'll wake the baby lol

Befnal good luck with the public bf, I never got the hang of it

AM I can be in town anytime after 11am, will be sure to all be washed and dressed by then (not going to have breakfast, need donut room and calories lol)

Took me 3 hours to clean up dd's room yesterday, dont quite know how she makes such a mess, anyway she now has a dressing up rail so everything doesnt get tipped out, carpets been scrubbed mattress freshened, toys and curtains febreezed, I am tempted to not let her back in as it looks nice now, just need a new wardrobe (canvas cover shrank in wash)

aprilmeadow · 22/05/2007 08:19

Hello

BB - i am a lot more confident with bf in public this time round. Might be down to the fact that Ella knows what she is doing whereas Jack faffed, or might be the tops i have this time. Didnt have any bf'ing tops last time. Ella also seems to think that i have a floating nipple, either in mid air or on my arm!

Abbey - Ella does the whole sleeping for 10mins then wakes crying for no particular reason. With Jack we used to pick him up all the time, but this time i let her cry for a bit to see if she goes back to sleep - obviously once i have checked for wind/poo/wee etc and knowing that she has just been fed

Lupins - how about 12pm? Good excuse for KK's for lunch

Meant to say, great news on the sleep front Lups

AbbyLou · 22/05/2007 08:38

Morning all! BB well done on losing 10 kilos, you have done rerally well. I didn't put much weight on this time - I couldn't afford to as I hadn't lost what I put on last time! When I got home from hospital I weighed less than I did when I fell pregnant but I've still got soooo much flabbiness round my tummy. Once I get to 6 weeks I think I'm going to start jogging. We live in a nice quiet neighbourhood now and I see lots of people doing it. There are lots of short 'blocks' I could jog and build up to more over time. I've got to do something as I want to try and get back to something close to what I was before I had Charlie.
R had a good night last night and only woke at 10.30, 2.30 and then not until 7.20 so I am very pleased with her at night time. I hope she has a more settled day today. I don't have much planned today. C is at the cm so I think it's housework a go-go today. I am hoping to take R into work this afternoon and show her off to the kids. I keep getting texts from the staff asking me when I'm going in. I thought today woiuld be a good day as there is a toddler group in the school hall so if she kicks off I can go and hide in there!

aprilmeadow · 22/05/2007 09:15

Oh yes well done BB on the losing 10kg!

Abbey, i am the same as you. I didnt put too much on (21lbs) and so far have managed to lose 14lbs which means that i am only half a stone away from pre-pg weight, however i am still another half stone heavier than i was before falling pg with J. So ideally i would like to shift another 14lbs which will take me to what i weighed on my wedding day 3 years ago.

Ella is 6weeks old today, so once i have seen the dr tomorrow its excerise all the way. Just need the weather to be nice then i will be laughing!

Morning ladies, gosh you all seem to have lost loads of weight already, I haven't checked yet but i know for sure I am still a wobbly blancmonge like mess, it normally takes me quite some time...

Yesterday I managed several hours in a shopping centre in Bristol and then went to dd's ballet lesson and was very sore by the time I came back! This is the perfect age for shopping as J was very good, we just stopped for one small feed in the shopping centre and one in the car park at school! I'm a big bf in public person, if someone really wants to have a look at my norks, let 'em, they hardly look sexy at the moment

J doesn't seem to sleep for much longer than 2.5 hours a stretch at night, then from 5.30 this morning he decided to sleep until 9am! Cheeky blighter and he had the world's fullest nappy. Anyway he is now awake and has found his fingers, very cute!

Its a beautiful day here.

SKYTVADDICT · 22/05/2007 10:21

Morning all

Haven't had time to catch up but just wanted to show my face after so long! Callum doing really well, going to add some better piccies when I get chance.

Feeling a bit more human today but have been taking ages to get over the c section (well 2 weeks seems like ages!).

Hope you are all doing well.

Be back soon. Callum just woke up !!

SKYTVADDICT · 22/05/2007 11:37

I'm back now - after yet another feed.

Callum very good - feeding every 2 to 3 hours in the day and 4 to 5 hours at night. He is being a bit hard work this morning though and has just started to cry again but DP is going to pick him up. My back is killing me from rocking.

DP is now on his third week off and is being a star. Really not looking forward to him going gack to work next week. At least it is half term and I won't have to get the DDs to school.

B/f going well - he lost 5 oz in the first five days then put on 8 1/2 oz in the next 5. Health Visitor coming again tomorrow and will weigh him then.

Its a good job he is a good baby as I have had some very bad days trying to get over the operation and probably wouldn't still be b/feeding if I didn't know I could already do it (fed DD2 for 7 months).

Not been out much either so don't think that is helping.

BefnalBub · 22/05/2007 12:13

afternoon! Glad C is being good for you Sky - I know what you mean about getting over the op - I still feel like I'm wading through mud when we try and go anywhere! DP keeps forgetting to slow down for me.

Has anyone else got a baby thats getting a bit scaley? Should one do anything about it? Only given her one bath so far (this morning in honour of a midwife that isn't coming but didn't let me know grrr).

Off for a sleep and then the wonders of ikea.

x

SKYTVADDICT · 22/05/2007 12:51

Hi BB, yes we have a very scaley baby - leaving flakes everywhere when he is undressed!

Haven't done anything about it - think it will go in time but have it on the list to ask the HV tomorrow.

cameroonmama · 22/05/2007 13:10

Hi Sky, good to hear Callum is doing so well. Sorry you are still feeling a bit raw. I'm now 11 days post section and feeling pretty good, frankly getting out of the house has done me wonders, even just for a short waddle to the playground where I sit on the bench and ds and dd run around me like I'm some kind of grand matriach!

However dh goes back to work next week and my mum goes back home on thurs so I am actually quite glad its half term next week and we can all laze about in our pjs and NO packed lunches to prepare

BB, J is flakey too, we bath him every evening and put on some baby lotion, I seem to remember ds was the same at this stage. Poor little mite has a runny nose too, thats what happens when your big brother and sister love to cuddle you, I guess!

Pinkjenny · 22/05/2007 13:41

Hi everyone!! I've arrived!!

Its very exciting to be here, I didn't even realise we had a May 07 pn thread!

Alexa is being a real cutie, taking 2- 2.5oz at a time, feeding about every 3 hours, which isn't too bad for 5 days old I hope! She is also the world's snuffliest baby, so noisy at night, I spent most of last night staring into her moses basket checking she hadn't choked or stopped breathing. I'm hoping its not just me and that you can offer me some wisdom, as I am worrying so much that I am scared she is picking up on it.

Had my stitches taken out today, and am recovering well from the section, but not able to walk very far yet. TBH, the main problem isn't my wound, its my back. What did they do to my back?

I am absolutely loving being a first time mum, but when will the paranoia end? Am I destined to a lifetime of poking her to make sure she is breathing, and worrying about whether she is OK? Because, frankly, its exhausting.

BefnalBub · 22/05/2007 13:46

PJ -hello! I know what you mean. Take the pain killers and pretend there is no pain for now.

I'm on day 11 and still like to know about the breathing during the night time - when shes snuffling she keeps me awake, and when shes silent she has me worried. Think it goes with the territory. I have the cot next to the bed so just shove in my hand every now and then and give her a little poke. think it will lessen with time but never really go away - part of being a parent!

Pinkjenny · 22/05/2007 15:32

Hi Befnal! Glad its not just me. Just taken her out in her pram which was lovely, although she slept all the way through it. She had her heel prick test today as well, which I had to leave the room for! Glad dh is a bit less pathetic.

juliewoolie · 22/05/2007 15:58

hello mummy's looking forward to Joining you all soon I hope, its getting a bit quiet on the other side.
