Probably be a while before there are many messages but a least we have a thread now

Hello all. Good to hear from you Charley and lovely to hear little George is doing so well. Agree with Lupin re talking about George, it's up to you to decide and you certainly aren't letting him doen by not mentioning him. Sometimes you will feel stronger than others I guess.
Lupin glad that dh is ok, it must be lovely to have the Portugal move on the horizon and a reality. So many of us talk about how lovely it would be to up sticks and move to another country so I really admire you for actually doing it. Think of all those long, warm, sunny days! We had a bit of a scare last nioght as our town was the only area in the East and West Midlands to be put on severe flood alert. Our street is directly in the middle of the River Trent, the River Erewash and the canal - we were worried to say the least. We took some stuff upstaris last night in case we were marooned but woke up this morning to find no water so we were very relieved!
R has had a good night and had settled well this morning but I can hear her stirring now so I had better go. Hope to catch up later!

A quiet moment in the Cam household, bliss

Charley how lovely to hear you and hear that George is doing so well, the time really flies doesn't it? Lupins advice seems spot on, whatever you decide to say in each different situation, you musn't feel bad about what you say or don't say.

Lups you sound very upbeat today, I'm sure things will soon get better for your dp and a new future in Portugal is soooo exciting for you all. FWIW I would put dd into school, certainly if she is quite confident about going, because it keeps her life consistent, going everyday and being with her friends, while you are getting things packed and ready to leave and she will then get used the idea of school and will probably slip into a new one in a new country quite easily, rather than the idea of school, plus new country, new house etc all coming together...

Scoot, hope you and Lily are finally feeling better. Great news on the house front too. I am

Good to hear from you Pink, sounds like you are all coping well and LW, hope you are feeling better.

Sorry for all those deluged with rain and floods, I guess April there is not much gardening going on at yours? I have posted a pic of our flood damage, now we have to wait for a loss adjuster to come tomorrow to have a look, to top it off the boiler broke down this am and we have 2 viewings today, the first ones in 6 weeks. I'm not holding out much hope

J is sleeping much better and is generally a very good little boy, loves being cuddled by various adoring mummies and little girlies. He is still mega spotty, even on his chest and back and also is looking monk-like with a tintin-esque mini quiff at the front.

Pebblemum · 26/06/2007 12:23

afternoon

i had started to write a post earlier but Alana decided to fill not only her nappy but her sleepsuit as well, you wouldnt think so much could come out of anyone so small, it went from above belly button to halfway up the back and down to her knees im normally ok with dirty nappies but this one nearly beat me. It was straight in the bath for her, she is now nice and clean and asleep!!

I think it was the indian dh cooked me sunday night that may have done it, A was quite restless during the evening last night and up until her last feed aT 11pm she just would not settle. After that though she slept right through until 6.30am fed then slept until 10.30am so we had a good nights sleep although when i woke at 6.30am i found ds2 in bed beside me, have no idea when he climbed in but he must have been very quiet otherwise i would have woken up.

Charley great to hear from you and to hear that George is dping so well. I understand it must be hard not knowing what to say about Benjamin, but do what you feel is best at the time. He will always be in your thoughts but dont feel you have to talk about everything that happened if you dont want to.

hi charley - good to 'see' you! CM lol at the tintin quiff - come on, lets see a photo - L is looking a bit like neil kinnock today. pebble, i reckon bath IS the only way to deal with a power poo - find coffee has that affect on L!

great day for me today. just been signed off by the hospital post c-section. BP is back to a good 100/60 so officially off the medication (unofficially stopped taking the adelat 2 weeks ago anyway - had myself taken off the lavetalol after the second week as it was making me knackered when i tried to walk anywhere)

yay - that means it was pregnancy induced high bp and i'm back to normal now.

L is whiffling

xx

think its time for a new thread

charleymouse · 26/06/2007 13:59

HV has just left and Porky G is now 7lb 8oz (only another 7oz to be DD birth weight)

Thanks ladies I know what you mean re talking about Ben, I think I should judge each situation on its merits.

Lupins I agree with CM you may as well get dd settled into the idea of school and also will give you time to get things sorted. I cant believe the speed at which a poo can leave such a small person. Glad to see your dh is getting sorted and getting a bit more enthusiatic about things.

Pinkjenny love the idea of vienetta for brekky, have a good lunch. G seems to be rubbing off the hair on the back of his head but as he is fair it is not to noticeable.

Abbylou the floods are a nightmare aren't they I hadn't realised how serious it was until I caught the news late last night I just thought it was an overreaction to the rain and was cursing the traffic last night. Glad you weren't affected.

Cameroonmama sorry you have been affected by the flooding - it is sods law isn't it that it happens when you have a viewing.

Pebblemum glad you got to grips with the poo, the bath is always easiest in that situation.

Befnal well done on being signed off from the hospital. Glad it was all just pregnancy related.

Can I just ask do those of you that have had a c section have a follow up apt with anyone? Should I just book in with my GP for a once over as have not got anything booked in.

Dh not at work today due to floods so got to bumps and babies this morning, it was lovely. Plus no trekkng around for me and G today, it also meant dh could get on the computer whilst I was out and I can have it now . I feel G misses out compared to dd but I suppose them is the breaks second time around.

Anyone doing/done the race for life and if so am I allowed to post the sponsorship link on Mumsnet? Shall I just risk it? DD and I are doing it for the second time this year, she was the youngest competitor in Sheffield last year at 18 months but not sure she will be this year at 2 1/2.

hello all
have not managed to catch up much - have only read the last day or so...I have a wriggling little thing on my knee who makes it difficult to stay at the computer for long! Hooray - he slept 12-5.30 for the last two nights and is settling better. HAving said that it is not worth me going to bed before midnight because he does not settle until then - it will come. In many ways I do not mind - we had such an awful time getting to this stage with all the miscarriages that I think I am still on a bit of a high.

CM - I was surprised that I did not have a followup appt with the hosp after my cs - and yet I did with ds1 when I had a tear. I have had my 6 wk check with the dr and that is all. I have got him to book me in with the physio (had probs with back last time) and will be asking about useful exercises for post cs - will post them here when I get them - mind you, it looks as if my appt will be late aug!
With regards to Ben and how to answer people - it is v difficult because you do not want to deny his existence but sometimes it just seems easier to gloss over things with strangers. My brother died 15 years ago and I still feel guilty if I do not say I had a brother when asked. I think this is the british reserve coming out in all of us. I have found over the years that saying something like this has helped: "i had a brother who died but we always enjoyed playing hide and seek when we are children" (really bad example but can't think of another) - that means that I am letting people know of his existence but also finishing the sentence with other info that they can pick up on and so I do not have that uncomfortable silence. I hope all that makes sense and also that you do not think I am being presumptious saying this.
