Oh and i've got fingers x-ed for the weather tomorrow Mels.

MonkeyandBabyBoo · 08/07/2007 11:58

Melsy - I know what you mean - I kept thinking what could have happened to her - it could have been far more serious - DH kept implying it was her fault but she knows no better, it was our fault for not moving the damn things!

I also think your DH could be my DH - he has now disappeared to the tip just as lunch time is approaching and yesterday spent most of the day washing the cars and cutting the hedge back - never in the house when I need him!

Snow - sounds like you had a good evening with all the wine - you could have shared . Hope you're not suffering today as a result

Snowrainandhail · 08/07/2007 21:04

Hi Monkey! Surprisingly i woke up without a hangover, definately a first. Instead i have the boys colds and coughs. Bless em. ds1 said its because he likes to share with me

As accidents go, don't worry. If you spend the whole time with what ifs you'd never get anywhere. The voice of experience here. I'm off to doctors tomorrow with Aust who has got an infection in his thumb of all places. But he will go sticking his fingers where they don't belong. I'm hoping he'll learn soon lol!

Well its less than two weeks til my hols and i've got lots to do. Got to go drs, get clothes washed ironed packed, two meetings at ds1 school, bcg for Aust, get my hair done (most important of course!) and go shopping for various bits. Have any of you been to Menorca? Trying to find someone who has been to get an idea of what i need to take......

dressedupnowheretogo · 09/07/2007 08:21

MonkeyandBabyBoo · 09/07/2007 09:08

Thanks snow - at least its not just my little monkeys getting in to trouble Never been to Menorca so can't help you there. Have a great time though.

We're just as busy for next couple of weeks - its the village carnival on Saturday so me and ds are on the preschool float - Fireman Sam is the theme! Frantically trying to get costumes sorted. I'm also on the preschool committee as well so got a meeting tonight for that and got to sort the float out for Saturday so probably will have a couple of late nights towards the end of the week.

Its also my friends ds's 1st birthday on Sat aswell so we are having a picnic for him at the carnival - weather permitting - she and her dd are on the toddlers float.

Then weekend after its my niece's 1st birthday so big party for her on the 21st.

Plus a few big things on at work this week - its results week for the students so at least there will be wine and nibbles on Thurs

Congrats Dressedup on CJ walking! Thats a big milestone - can't imagine Emily walking yet - she started pulling herself up on things a couple of weeks ago but I think it will be a while before she'll be walking independently.

olivo · 09/07/2007 10:52

Snow- i have been to Menorca, as a child and then when i in my late teens. It is hot (of course!) but cooler in the evenings. think you might need mossie stuff too. but other than that, bikinis, strappy tops and bags of suncream! i'm soooo where are you staying?
so, its another rainy day here after a fab weekend. i'm back at work but can already feel my voice wibbling and my sore throat is still here, six weeks later so i am back to the doctors later in the week

Congrats to CJ for walking!!

Nbg · 09/07/2007 11:01

We have ringworm here!

How delightful

Snowrainandhail · 09/07/2007 13:03

Oh Monkey. I'm jealous of you r carnival. Our one this year exceeded all expectations as they had 3 FLOATS! Yes, thats right 3! It took all of 5minutes to pass us.... And we are paying for it in our taxes.

Olivo, dh is wishing i'd lose my voice for a bit. Been nagging him all weekend. Not sure why really. Just cos i can Hope you feel better soon.
We're staying in Santo Tomas, not sure where. All they tell me is the country and the flight time otherwise i get too worked up. Hate hate hate flying . Hey ho, won't complain. Right, will have to squeeeeeze into my bikinis and strappy tops.

Nbg, poor you! Who has it? And where from? My brother had it as a child, fell in dog poo .

Dressedup, well done on CJ!! Theres no stopping her now We need a proud mummy emoticon on here really....

Have i forgotten anyone?
I wonder how Pink is.....

sarahlou1uk · 09/07/2007 16:43

Snow - when we go abroad, we don't take mossy spray. I found that Dove shower cream keeps them at bay as it leaves a coating on your skin that they either don't like or can penetrate. Just a little tip . God, I'm jealous - I haven't had a holiday for 3 years now . Oh well, here's to next year

sarahlou1uk · 09/07/2007 16:43

Sorry, that should read can't penetrate

sarahlou1uk · 09/07/2007 16:44

Dressed up - congrats on walking front. Molly is crawling everywhere. I had toyed with the idea of putting a bell on her so that I know where she is! She is like lightening these days!

BigHotMama · 09/07/2007 19:02

Snow, we have bought a mozzy band to stick on the buggy they have come highly recommended and keep the nasties away, never heard of the dove shower tip though, smell great and keeps 'em away must be good stuff

WELL DONE to CJ walking! Dont think ds will walk yet as he's constantly up on his tip toes, my mom reckons I should invest in some 'proper' shoes from Clarks and he'd be away? Surely he will just start when he wants to? Been cruising the furniture for a good 2 months now?

Sorry to hear some of you are feeling poopey. I'm just glad the sun has come out!

We got 3 wks for our holiday in Portugal and am counting the days and my calorie intake lol .

Oh another tip Snow, am sure somebody mentioned baby wipes with sunscreen in them? Not sure which ones though so not really much help am I?

Hope everyone else doing good x

snowboo · 09/07/2007 22:15

Thanks for the tips.

BHM its Pampers sunwipes i think. Only thing is ds1 is highly allergic to most makes so i have to watch what i use

Oh Austin u=is crying again. Just won't settle....

olivo · 10/07/2007 09:09

ooh, i like the sound of sunwipes- my dd is such a wriggler, i end up covered in suncream. will they have then in boots do you think? otherwise, will have to stock up when i go to england!
am so of all your holidays! Because the weather is supposed to be so nice here in the summers , we dont go away in the summer hols. but i am driving over to england with dd for two weeks to catch up with family and friends and will be able to go shopping in tesco and asda and toysrus ann ikea and all those other shops that we dont have - how sad am i?!

on the other hand, we are off to madeira in october so i cant really complain!

Nbg · 10/07/2007 09:56

Think the ringworms come from a Cat or Dog of a friends last week.

Just thinking, will I need mosquito stuff for the kids when we go to Europa. Its Germany and we'll only be there one day but 2 nights.
Dont think it will be as hot as Spain though.

olivo · 10/07/2007 11:16

think you'll be nbg, unless its in the middle of woods or something? if so,i'd take something just in case.
(and stop rubbing it in, that you won a competition)

micku5 · 10/07/2007 11:30

Morning all, It's been bloody ages since I've had a chance to come on mumsnet and post.

Ben trying to catch up with evveryone's news but fighting a losing battle there's so much happening.

Quick update on Talia, she is doing well atm. We are seeing her cardiologist on Thursday and hopefully he will say that she doesn't need an op to close the hole (she had a detailed scan and everything looked good)

She still has lots of problems with her breathing or rather I should say she has a constant wheeze and after Thursday nite in hospital they can changed her medication. Seems to be working, so I only have to use her reliever inhaler twice a day instead of 4/5 times.

We are also seeing an immulogist in August, something that I have been pushing for ages and am annoyed that it wasn't done in November when I first mentioned it and before all the hospitalisations.. but what's done is done and we'll have to see what her immune levels are and take it from there.

I know most of the babies on this board are already crawling and some walking. Talia's not far behind, I try very hard not to compare her to a 12 month old but it is difficult. I am just happy that she is growing and developing well. She's still not on more lumpier food. I am scared she will choke. Any tips as to what I do? Or what foods I can give her to see if she can manage on her own.

It's her birthday next Saturday (21st) can't believe it's already been a year!! I'll have post some updated pics of her and her sister. Maybe she'll start walking by herself by her birthday and not be glued to my hip LOL (chance would be a fine thing)

sarahlou1uk · 10/07/2007 18:03

Hi everyone. Just got back from taking Jack to doctors for his pre school boosters. Not as bad as I thought - no tears. He was a very brave boy!

snowboo · 10/07/2007 19:48

Oh gosh Sarahlou. Waiting for ds1 appt to come through. Nervous as hell! And Austin has finally got an appt for his BCG tomorrow and dreading that also. As well as the appt at doctor for his infected thumb, eczema and cough. Phew....!

Micku, so glad Talia is doing really well. Have you tried her with toast? Austin was eating that as a first stage food and had no problems. I put Marmite on it for a bit of taste.... Or cooked carrots, or banana. Can't think what else i give Austin, he normally picks things out of the bin to eat (We do feed him, honest)

rattleskuttle · 11/07/2007 12:24

good luck with your appointment tomorrow micku. when ds started eating lumpy foods he used to gag a lot. now he manages quite well even 'though he's just got two teeth (at last) he mostly has the same meals as us in the evening and i just chop it up quite small, like spaghetti and veg, or leave the pieces really big for him to pick up and gnaw, like a whole tomato.

Nbg · 13/07/2007 14:49

Hiya everyone

just a quickie to let you know I had my 20 week scan today. Everythings ok and we're having another boy.

MonkeyandBabyBoo · 13/07/2007 14:57

Congratulations nbg. Glad the scan went well.

sarahlou1uk · 13/07/2007 16:09

Congratulations NBG! You'll have to start thinking of names yet again!

sarahlou1uk · 15/07/2007 22:59

Ok. That must have been the biggest thread killer for a while. Nearly 2 days without someone posting????? What's going on?? Have we all got lives outside mn or is msn getting hammered???

snowboo · 16/07/2007 12:50

Oh i've been busy trying to pack. We go tomorrow noghtish..... Arghhhhhhh!

NBG Congrats! Want my old list of names? I'm sure there will be one on it you like. (There are of course 30 names on it )
