BENDYB · 23/04/2007 15:38

hey everyone,

yeah kai does that too, he can move himself all around the whole room now, in just a few mins! Have started moving all our stuff out of his reach now,i guess we had better sort out getting stair gates stuff like that.

my bro was allowed out of hospital for few hours on sat, coz it was my niece's bday, we were just gonna visit him but they said as he is doin well he could go out. It was really nice, he just seems the same now, just tired & still a bit confused. My niece was so pleased to have her daddy there!
He didn't try & run off & didn't complain about goin back either so they let him out for a few hours yesterday aswell!

Evening All...

Hope you're all ok today. I feel like death, just got back from the gym I ran 6 miles ooh it hurts!

I'm taking LO swimming again in the morning. I bought a disposable under water camara from Tesco, only cost a few pounds and I got some lovely photos of her underwater, def worth it!

Off to bed now, need to get lots of beauty sleep.

Has everyone else still got a jelly belly? I cant get my fat hips to go

taffy101 · 24/04/2007 13:08

hi
emz - i still have jellybelly, but haven't done anything about it yet need to exercise. does your baby swim underwater? How do you get them to do that? I have heard they should naturally swim but don't know anyone who has tried it.

lol re all your babies rolling round the house! I remember dd doing that - i used to call her dora the explorer (you will all soon learn who dora is on tv), lo is not interested in going anywhere, he is more of a sitting down baby, which is a refresshing change after the manic dd!

Bendy - sounds like your bro had lovely day with daughter and is accepting his situation now.

ginge - when babies get pox at early age i believe they can have it really mildly, so hopefully you've got it over and done with.

I am going to mop kitchen floor now, i am NOT going to click on active convo's...

gingeme · 24/04/2007 23:09

Hi taffy101 no lo doesnt have the pox though he was up at 4am this morning bringing up this kinda watery bile stuff. This continued on and off till about 6 where he wouldnt settle unless he was laying on Mummy so I didnt get any more sleep realy. He was off colour all day and didnt drink much milk though he had lots of juice. Had a high temp this afternoon but thankfully after a couple of doses of Calpol and cool bath and full 8 oz before bed hes sleeping soundly . Just hope hes over it before Thursday as Im getting his photo done at a proper studio.Should be fun as Im taking ds3 too and no hubby !!! Wish me luck.
How did the swimming go Emzickle? Were going Sunday as dh has a long weekend off. Were going to a surprise birthday party Saturday. Cant wait. Im even going to get my hair done for the occasion. What a treat that will be.
Anyway Im off to bed now to catch up on the sleep I missed.
Night all sleep well

Emzickletodoitallagainsoon · 25/04/2007 09:14

Morning everyone... I took LO swimming yesterday with my sister and her DD, ahhh... nightmare.
Sister's DD has a real issue with not being with my sis, its a complete pain, she screams constantly whilst my sister isnt holding her - i.e. she'll hand her DD to me and she'll scream til my sis takes her back, and she does this to everyone, even her daddy! And she's 7 months... any tips to break this?

I went to the gym too last night, worked out for an hour then swam, i feel pretty weak this morning!

Im off to do some thing productive.

Is there a meet up any time soon?

EmilyandLola · 25/04/2007 10:42

Oh, and Ive changed my name, as I'm going to put on hold trying for number two, as that would mean DP and I would actually have to have a bonk now and then ... pah!

BENDYB · 25/04/2007 11:13

lol em!

my nephew was like ur sis dd when he was younger but he grew out of it in the end, sorry no helpfull advice!

oh, i've still got a major jelly belly aswell, cannot get rid of it!

my bro is allowed home 4 a few hours every day now, they are really pleased with his progress, he may not even have 2 go into the rehab place now so its really good news!

i'm off 2 my mums for the day 2day, b nice 2 get some fresh air, been stuck indoors for 2 days waiting for my new buggy 2 turn up! & it still hasn't!

have a good day everyone x

Rumpel · 25/04/2007 12:56

Hi All,

Havent posted for a while as Ive been very busy. Last week I managed to smash the back window of my car, then I lost my bank card, then I broke the hoover (AGAIN) then I threw a pint of water over the laptop!!
Thank God it is working again, however, the apostrophe button is knacked.

Went to my bros at the weekend to see my little niece (3months). Her and A are like chalk and cheese. She didn;t like me much - kept crying when I held her. I think she was tired. Was very funny watchingthe 2 of them together though. we are desperately looking for a house further North so we can see each other a bit more but nothing we like on the market yet.

Emz - know what you mean about rumpy pumpy! We havent slept in the same bed for about 2 years now! LO is in my room as her cot is too big for the little room and DH is in the spare room as he needs his sleep and the double bed is too small for both of us as I am a very restless sleeper.

Has anyone else found that they are always hot now? I used to feel cold all the time but since being pg I am roasting. My duvet is about 2 tog and Dhs is 10!

Bendy - glad your bro is doing well. My DH couldnt wait to get out of hospital too - he couldnt escape though as he had too many broken bits! He used to get home for day visits until he was well enough to get home for good. Wont be long for your bro now.

poor A has been very constipated last 3 days - purple face and crying. Ive upped her fluids (watered down her milk) and given her fresh orange and a prune a day. Dont understand it as her diet hasnt changed?

I am very lucky and dont have a jelly belly - I have managed to lose 16lbs now - only 24 to go now! Lost most of it off my tum (I am a pear) and lucky enough to have good skin tone, no stretch marks. Must get back to my sit ups and weights though as I have wobbly arms.

Am all harrassed just now as I have to do this stupid thing for Uni where I am observed by my teaching fellow and I am trying to organise lecture content and place and students and am harrassed as only given very short notice.

Sorry for VERY long post.
Hope all is well with your LOs

Im taking him to have his photo taken tomm. Cant wait. Been sorting through his clothes to se whats best. Will take 2 ourfits with me and see what they suggest.

anyway nite everyone, xxx

Rumpel · 26/04/2007 10:01

Morn All,

BENDY - just after we married my DH was out on his motorbike and some tourists were on the wrong side of the road around a blind corner and hit him head on. He wasnt expected to live as he had serious head injuries, his femur (thigh) split in half, top half of his tibia (lower leg bone) sheared off, broken radius, smashed in face, back fractured in 5 places and 42 stitches down his chest. His heart stopped but as luck would have it the tourists were an a + e surgeon and an anaesthatist so they knew how to resucitate him and keep him going until the ambulance arrived. He was in hospital for months and had to have loads of surgery. It was an undescribably terrible time. We didnt know how he would recover because of his head injuries - he was on a life support machine for days and he was doolally for a long time. He didnt know who I was and it broke my heart. However, he is a miracle and much better now. His character has changed (common with head injuries) but we have a very strong relationship just not much of a social life as it takes all his energy to work. Hence the reason I am relatively old for a first time Mum as we couldnt try until he was well enough.

YOUNGMUM - how are the kitties?

GINGEME - how are your Scots boys - local elections here next Thursday. Is there school being used?

SAMSMAM - how is the iron and weight going?

Beautiful day here today so am washing, prepping and taking A for a walk. Still no rolling, crawling for us. Teeth are almost at the gum edge now. Her constipation is much better now though.

Got some new nappies yesterday. Got 3 different ones to try - the bamboo ones are lovely.

Swizzler · 26/04/2007 10:09

Bendy: back ache could just be from lugging your LO around! Might be worth getting it checked out by osteo or other practitioner who can check your posture. Are you bending over to lift the baby up or (even worse) twisting? If so, stop it!

Mellin · 26/04/2007 12:17

Hi All,

Hope you are all getting plenty of sunny weather over there. It's getting cooler here in Oz as autumn progresses. Although by cooler I mean it was 20 degrees today! Not quite the same as autumn in London.

What is it with this thread & poorly grandmothers? My 94 year old nan has been taken to hospital suddenly and we found out today she needs major surgery. The drs have said that because of her age and health she may have difficulty recovering. But she is a tough bird so the family is hopeful she will pull through.

It has been a strange week with dd also. Her sleeping is all over the place, she's suddenly not interested in food after 2 weeks of weaning and she is really windy. It's like she's got a trumpet in her nappy . I thought we were going ok with the weaning (I have been trying a bastardised version of BLW & purees for the past 2 weeks) and haven't really introduced any new foods in the last couple of days which might have upset her. Maybe the last 2 weeks of solids are catching up with her!

Bendy: I have lower back pain too, but didn't have an epidural. My sis who is a physiotherapist has been treating me and said it is quite common in new mothers. Like Swizzler said, lugging the baby around and lots of awkward lifting. My sis also told me to watch my pram-pushing posture! Apparently when you use a pushchair you tend to push your arms forward, stick your bum out and slant your back which can aggravate your lower back. I recommend a massage - feels sooooo good!

SoupDragon · 26/04/2007 12:21

I keep reading this as "fanjo" club"...

Swizzler · 26/04/2007 12:24

well it's obviously that

gingeme · 26/04/2007 13:08

Hi Mellin hope all goes well with your grandmother.
Yes Rumpel the boys have got a day off due to the elections. Thats horrid about your hubby. Glad hes recovering slowly bu surely
Took lo for his photo shoot this morning. He was a star though some photos were taken on his front and he would not keep still and kept trying to eat the fluffy rug thing. He was dribbling like mad too so gave up on clothes and took most of the shoot in his nappy which will be dead cute
ds3 was on his best behaviour too. I took drawing and a couple of cars to keep him amused but there were various toys in the studio which he played with.
There are two more lots. One at 10 months and one at14 months. Cant wait.
Off to see my friends new baby girl this afternoon. Cant wait. Ill try not to get too broody

BENDYB · 26/04/2007 18:21

how awful that must have been rumpel! So glad he's ok now. xxx

melin- hope your grandmother's ok.
how you described is just how i walk with the pushchair! oops! better stop!

dont think i'm bending or twisting though swizzler, still will go check it out i think.

not very pleased with dp, he has gone & ordered a huge hd tv & sky hd! After he told me we couldn't get new sofas yet!! Cant afford it apparently

hope you've all had a good day! x

samsmam · 26/04/2007 18:41

Hi all,
Not posted for a while- been feeling a bit down in the dumps. Not too sure what caused it.

I got my blood test results and I am definitely anaemic. Iron tablets three times a day for at least three months. Nasty side effects.

LO has her first tooth- we had lots of tears to get it- how many more to go!!!

On the weight front- things are going slowly- I didn't go to slimming world this week as I have been totally useless.

DP back to work on Monday!!!

gingeme · 26/04/2007 21:24

samsam glad your feeling better. In answer to your question lo has 19 more teeth to go. Sorry!
Oh bendyb thats obviously where your dh's prioritys lie. Tell him he cant watch it without any comfy sofas to sit on
I cuddled my friends new dd today. Oh shes teeny. She was 7lb 2oz and my friend had a male midwife. Made my lo look huge. He had his first dinner in his high chair this evening. Forgot how so little food goes so far around the room. Think ds3 got a bit jelous as he started messing about with his food. Only natural I guess.

marthahm · 26/04/2007 22:17

bendy i had a bad back after my epidural. the pain was right over the place they put it in. now have bad back from all the bending over the cot and pushing the pushchair as described. at the moment lo really hard to settle. she seems to be most likely to go to sleep if i let her pull my hair whilst i bend over the cot singing silent night-my god, how desperate can you get, it really hurts... (prob hurts nextdoor neighbours ears too). i keep thinking a tooth is coming and then nothing but tears and hands in mouth etc. well done samsmam on the first tooth. being anaemic will make you feel rubbish. so not surprised you've been feeling down, plus you've been under lots of pressure with your dh off work.
gingeme really good idea having them photographed, sounds like he's going to look really sweet.
going to work has been so great, weird thing is monday seems to come so quickly and it's a work day again. lo stayed awake more or less whole night on monday after work. horrible as she re-woke just as i said goodbye to childminder at 6.30 and carried on from there.
mellin seems like you've been in aus for ages and ages. could be the teeth that's upset her. h stopped eating with the teething and then couldn't go to the loo for ages.
fantastic to hear from you again dogsmum. how's the lovely dog getting on with samson?
how silly is this-suddenly really keen for lo to crawl just because mil said bossilly that she wouldn't be crawling for another 3 months.

marthahm · 26/04/2007 22:19

rumpel what happened with the tourists, did they stay in touch to find out if your dh was ok when you got to hospital? did they admit straight away it was their fault?

Swizzler · 27/04/2007 08:39

Marthahm: ignore the MIL

Samsmam: sorry you've been having a rough time, anaemia would make you feel crap and teething is hellish! Glad your DH is back at work soon

EmilyandLola · 27/04/2007 09:55

did any of you watch that lifeline programme last night - quick question, does any one really have sex like that? If so... I want to
