Hi all,

Adam has finally mastered crawling forwards after a month of backwards He is definatly keeping me on my toes now, but it is just sooo cute. We have also got our first tooth!

Marthahm - advice I got from friends today is that parasols are rubbish. They said it is really hard to get them in a good position and as soon as the LO's can reach them they don't last 5 minutes, so all in all a waste of time.

Weaning is going really well now, adam eats nearly everything. He was sat on my lap sucking on a whole chicken leg on sunday much to the amazement of all my family

Samsmam - Hope everything is ok with your grandad, my nan only has to look at a hospital and gets MRSA (has had it twice but luckily not seriously)

Bendy - Your brother sounds like a character

Emzickle - Good luck, we haven't said we are definatly trying but we have stopped being careful so its just a matter of time now! [excited]

Hope all the other LO's are doing well.

Emzickletodoitallagainsoon · 19/04/2007 08:21

gingeme you have me interested now, what were you going to say?

samsmam · 19/04/2007 09:09

at TTC. Good Luck Emzickle.

Like Purpleflower we have stopped being careful but was thinking a spring/summer baby would be nice at least the weather will hopefully let you go out more- to show them off!
I really need to get my iron levels back up and my weight down by another stone!

ujtdkiutin ,kdttt (that's from LO!)

Glad work was ok Marthahm. On the sun thing I've bought a parasol from mothercare- cost £15.99, seems really sturdy and it folds compact so that you can still fold the buggy with it on. Never though about LO grabbing it though.

Emzickletodoitallagainsoon · 19/04/2007 09:17

why is everyone being so weird about DP and I TTC?

gingeme · 19/04/2007 10:27

Sorry Emzickle that wasnt a pop honey. I had my first two ds's close together and it was brilliant. Theyre still realy close now. Plus you have all the baby stuff from dc1 to pass on which saves heaps of money
Had a rough day with lo yesterday. He was a real grumpy grots all day. Have just spotted a rash on his face and tummy. Just hope its not chicken pox
Hes trying to roll from his front to his back now. So funny looks like hes sky diving!
I just put a hat on lo and smother him in sun cream. I find parasols no good as you have to keep moving them each time you change direction.
Lol though at you ttc. Im off to the docs to get the depo injection to totaly avoid getting preg again. Dh has been so paranoid about it our 'love lifes' been pretty rubbish. Hes got a consultation appt in June about his 'snip'.
Anyway were off to Clown Town for their toddler morning.
Enjoy the sun xxxx

samsmam · 19/04/2007 10:56

I'm envious Emzickle! Wish we would make a definite decision to just go ahead as I want my LO's close together.

Emzickletodoitallagainsoon · 19/04/2007 11:11

DP said if i got PG again, it would take up the slack of my tummy... i didn't find it funny, but i'm holding him to it!

taffy101 · 19/04/2007 21:35

Good to hear from you emzickle and good luck with tcc. I was broody up till a few weeks ago but am over it now (hormones). I will never say never though (i have 2 kids). Siblings close together probably have more in common and play nicer together (ginge may well correct me there!)

samsmam - hope your grandad gets well soon - bloody mrsa, its rife isn't it.

Bendy my lo nearly escapes out of bumbo by arching his back - v. scary, i can't take my eyes off him when hes in it now. He is at last enjoying his playnest. He used to arch his back in there and just cry but today he sat nicely and played with his toys for the first time!

have introduced lo to a spoon but not much interst. He's 6 months in a couple of weeks so will try again soon.

Rumpel - how do you have time to study? I am full of admiration for you

taffy101 · 19/04/2007 21:41

re parasols - ginge is right you do have to move them everytime you change direction. There are canopy ones that are better - hard to find though. I got one on ebay for dd, i'll have to see if its in our loft!

BENDYB · 20/04/2007 08:01

morning all,

crappy weather here 2day!

yeah taffy thats what kai kept doin, arching his back, & then the other day he done it & it just tipped over! Havent put him in it much since then, well just to feed him, its scary!

had 2 have another blood test on tue & its said that i'm still aneamic, doc said it should've started going back 2 normal now so they have gotta put me on a higher dose of the iron tablets, i hate them, make me feel really really sick!

have a good day everyone.x

HoratioMcCain · 20/04/2007 16:18

Hi all,

Anyone got anything exciting planned for the weekend?

Inthehouse - thanks, her name's even better when people prononce it correctly. You wouldn't believe some of the bizarre names people come up with
On the day time nap front, dd is sleeping better in the day since starting solids. I think the concentration of trying to get food to mouth (we're blw) is tiring her out.

BendyB - big sympathies re; iron tablets, I've only just stopped taking them, and they were bloody awful!

Emzickle - good luck ttc, am very jealous (single parent so no hopes in that dept)
There was a thread on weaning asking the same q re; constantly feeding and the general consensus was that by about 18 months it calms down a bit (only a year to go then ...)

Marthahm - I have a parasol and it needs a bit of tweaking when changing direction. Have heard mixed reviews about the shade-a-babe but am personally sticking with my parasol and just hoping dd doesn't pull it off!

Hope everyones bubbas are well

majormoo · 20/04/2007 20:16

hello all-hope you had a good Easter. Your meet up photos are great.
DS is enjoying his food but driving me mad grabbing the spoon and SCREAMING if I take it off of him. He and DD had their first meal together today (fishcakes and veg for her, he just had salmon and potato mashed together) and it was lovely to see them sitting together but my god the combined mess!!
Sleep seems to be improving a bit here since weaning started properly but think it is more to do with the bottle of formula at 11ish than anything else.

Good luck emzickle with TTC. I'd love to try for another one later this year
BendyB-can't believe your brother keeps escaping-that security is rubbish

martha I found parasols a nightmare last time-kept bashing into people and they hardly covered the buggy. So I may try an all over sun shade thing

majormoo · 20/04/2007 20:18

oh and I am so excited about tomorrow. Years ago at university I shared a house with 5 other girls. We hardly manage to meet up these days as most of us have kids, but tomorrow 3 of them are coming down to Brighton and we are having a long lunch with no kids around. Will be so good to catch up.

BENDYB · 21/04/2007 07:46

morning!

majormoo-yeah security is really bad, they just let him go walkinh around onto the other wards aswell, & its 2 different hospitals he's escaped from now!

enjoy your lunch today!

Hope everyone has a nice weekend!
xxx

MrsBlobby · 21/04/2007 08:02

Hi everyone! Long time no speak! Glad to see you are all well - great to catch up on all your news!

Samson is doing well. He has 2 teeth now and has had his first week of solids - so far so good. He is not bad at sitting and really seems like he wants to cut out the whole crawling thing and is desperately trying to stand!

Sleeping is an issue, though. He's never been that good, but it really seems to getting worse. Last night he managed 8.30pm - 1.15am, then fed most of the rest of the night. I've always fed on demand, but this is so demanding! He just seems hungry all the time (during the day, too)! So, if you have any tips, they will be greatly received.

Sorry for the long post.

Swizzler · 21/04/2007 09:08

Hi MrsBlobby

Your DS sounds like mine - into everything, wanting to stand and not sleeping! Finally brought him into bed with us at 3am as he was not settling in his cot. So no tips! Tho sorting out nas does tend to help with the nights. Have you read the No Cry Sleep Solution?

MrsBlobby · 21/04/2007 10:13

No I haven't. I've read some of 'Baby Sleep Book' - I must read the rest!!! I have no excuse for not finishing it!!!

Sorry - what do you mean by 'nas'???

MrsBlobby · 21/04/2007 10:15

Do you recommend 'The No Cry Sleep Solution'??? What kind of things does it suggest?

Swizzler · 21/04/2007 13:15

naps (typing with William in lap!). The No Cry Sleep Solution (E Pantley) gives a wide range of tips to get your baby to sleep and to stay asleep - it takes a while to work though, so depends how much you need your sleep!

Swizzler · 21/04/2007 13:17

Things that have helped me: taking W off the boob before he goes to sleep and putting him down when sleepy but not asleep (for night feeds as well as gettin ghim down for the first time in the evening); having a consistent bedtime routine at the same time each day, having a naptime and activity routine in the day (still working on that one); NOT feeling guilty about feeding William before he goes to bed or when he wakes in the night .

Here we are . Had my parents here for the weekend. Was out and about . My friend had her baby yesterday. She was 11 days overdue but had a waterbirth and had a little girl.
We bought lo a baby walker yesterday. Oh he loves it. He grabs everything now and can manouver it out the living room door and down the hall. He even got in the kitchen doorway today to chat to the cat while he was eating his food
He can roll from his back to his front and back on to his back again. Very clever. Only did that today.
Tried him in the door bouncy thing today too. Oh he squealed with delight. My ds3 loved it too and bounced around in it for ages
Spent the afternoon in the woods with the boys and dh trying to avoid caterpillers as they were all dangling on their silk from the trees. lo had 3 on hid head which ds3 thought was very funny.
Well off for a bath now. Wore my new sandals and my feet ache.
Hope you all had good weekends.
Lost my sunglasses though which Ive had 6 years. I bought them on our honeymoon in Malta and they were brill.

gingeme · 22/04/2007 20:35

Ooh that was a long post wasn't it? he he

majormoo · 22/04/2007 20:43

hi everyone. Hope you are all well.
Mrs Blobby I don't really have any tips on sleeping, other than the fact that now DS have a bottle about 11ish he is sleeping much better and I suppose this has co-incided with weaning. Maybe it will improve now he is eating fingers crossed.

This morning I left DS on a mat in the middle of the living room and went into the bathroom. DH came downstairs asking, where is DS? I came into the room and he had disappeared. I had a mad moment of panic (i.e someone had obviously broken into our house within that two minutes and stolen him) before finding him happily playing under the dining room table!!! He had managed to move himself around backwards all around the room (although I hasten to add living room/dining room is one and the same room-he hasn't managed to scale round doorways.)

I had a lovely lunch yesterday with old uni mates. Felt a bit bad for one of them who is expecting her first baby. The other two had horrendous birth stories, and because of this I didn't want to go on and on about how wonderful birth can be. However, I felt a bit bad she's only really heard negative stuff. I'd do it again happily.

gingeme · 23/04/2007 10:11

Good morning ladies. Yes I know what you mean majormoo I often leave lo on his playmat to pop to the kitchen or something and come back to find hes turned in a complete circle. Im sure he stands up moves then lays back down again
Tyring something new today. Lo usually gets grumpy this time of day and I have been cuddling him eventualy to sleep. I have just put him in his cot to see if hell go to sleep. If it works this will be his morning nap time. Never realy tried this till my boys have been about a year old so if it works it will be good.
Still not sure if he has chicken pox. The spots on his face seemed to have blistered which pox are meant to do but he only has other spots on his belly which are realy realy tiny like a rash. I asked ds3's nursery teacher as shes seen pox in many stages and she said it looks just like a heat rash......
Wow cant believe hell be 6 months old tomm its gone so quick.
