Hello, hope everyone had a great weekend. Had a nice sunbake in the garden

Seb not very happy as he has a fever, I think it is probably due to his immunisation last week (a bit late as there is a different schedule in Australia).

Swizzler how do you manage to get your DS to take Calpol? Seb hates it, either spits it out or chokes on it. I've been trying to give him some but I don't think much has gone down his throat.

Can sympathise with your friend Gingeme, Seb was two weeks late and I couldn't wait to get him out! Gets so uncomfortable towards the end.

Good luck with the childminder ITH, have been thinking about finding one for Seb to have one day or afternoon off a week. I miss having my mum here for babysitting duty!

Welcome Horatio, and congrats on your win Bendyb!

Swizzler · 16/04/2007 19:16

Bubble: William loves the taste of Calpol and licsk the spoon - think he might have my sweet tooth. Try a syringe instead of a spoon (you can get them from Boots) and squirt it into the back of one cheek. Or you could try a different brand - Boots do an own brand paracetenol which he might prefer. Sorry to hear he isn't well. William a bit grumpy as well - think it might be the heat.

samsmam · 16/04/2007 21:17

Samantha loves Calpol too! She shark attacks the spoon.

Swizzler is right- get a syringe and squirt into the jaw hinge, a baby is not able to phyically push anything out that way- something I remember from my Pharmacy training!

My grandad is not well now- they think he has MRSA in lungs.

Still no rolling here. She does sit up quite straight in her highchair though- think food is the incentive for that!

BENDYB · 17/04/2007 16:31

hi all,

sorry 2 hear about your grandad samsmam.

hope everyone else ok, nothin much goin on here, my bro is still improving he is waiting to be moved into a rehab kind of place where he will be allowed home at weekends so that'll be better, but again its very far away from us so wont get to see him much.

Swizzler · 17/04/2007 19:22

Sorry to hear about your grandad Samsmam .

Bendy: good news about the move, shame it isn't closer. Has he repeated the Great Escape? Sounds like he's recovering really well and getting the support he needs.

Not much to report here: week 2 at work going fine (day off omorrow) though was a but stressful yesterday as W wasn't v well and I was stressing at work and DH was stressing at home. He's fine now though.

BENDYB · 17/04/2007 23:02

swizzler, lol na he hasn't tried escaping but he has been annoying everyone on the ward, he kept throwing sweets at them! so he has got his own room now, he does keep wandering off down onto other wards though, think he is just really bored, bless him.

glad work is goin ok. x

Mellin · 18/04/2007 05:46

Hi all,

Well I am getting plenty of time to mess around on the computer now that the entourage of grandparents and relatives keep whisking dd away. It's great to have so much "me" time but it's starting to get a liiiiitle claustrophobic, I think everyone is wanting to make up for the fact that they didn't see her for the first 5 months of her life. Hmmm maybe that sounds a little ungrateful, I'll miss it all when we go back to London!

Her sleeping pattern has gone really erratic in the past week and a half, this morning she was awake at 3am and wouldn't go back to sleep. We started solids about the same time so maybe that has something to do with it....unfortunately I was hoping that introducing solids was going to be the catalyst for her to sleep longer, not less!

Samsmam: our dd's sound similar, Nina hasn't rolled over and shows absolutely no interest. About the most active she gets is shoving her feet into her mouth while on the playgym. She isn't sitting yet either.

Swizzler · 18/04/2007 08:19

Mellin: I found that solids upset William's sleep (even more!) for a few days. He soon settled down though. Has had 2 nights of doing 1 5-hr stretch - really hoping this will last.

Beny:lol at your brother agitating the ward - hope the move to the new centre goes well.

Emzickletodoitallagainsoon · 18/04/2007 08:39

Hi Ladies, hope you're all well. I cant believe how big LO is now, she's sitting up and babbling the whole time. How is everyone getting on with weaning?

All I feel like I do all day is either make food, heat food, make bottles or feed her!

Any tips to make my life easier, or will it better itself in time?

BENDYB · 18/04/2007 10:04

hey emzickle! nice 2 hear from you again!
sorry no advice really on weaning, have only just started kai on solids.

totallyfloaty35 · 18/04/2007 10:59

Morning ladies, hope you all well,i not been posting much as very busy getting ready for DH to go on tour again,he gonna be away for over 3monthsI so dont want him to go,he is going to miss so many milestones of LO's But at least he has been home for most of her first 6months.
She is just starting to roll from back to front, she has been going from front to back for ages,as i think she hates tummy time so much she learnt to turn to get out of it.She cant sit up but she is trying hard too.No teeth yet but she is teething and has her Nelsons powders most days and loves them.
Emzickle, when we first started weaning her sleep pattern was all over the place too,she was waking 2-3 times a night, but now she back to sleeping 7-7,so it will go back to normal.
Sorry for long post, off to help with dh packing now,bye all

totallyfloaty35 · 18/04/2007 11:02

sorry that was to Mellin not Emzickle
Em,im doing baby led weaning, she loves it,she has had most fruits and veg and loves roast potatos and butternut squash

Mellin · 18/04/2007 11:09

Emzickle - I'm in the same boat as you, have just started Nina on solids and it seems to occupy so much of the day. Now I look back on when it was just milk and think it was so much easier! She has started to wake more in the night now too.

Swizzler & Totally - I am taking heart from your comments re sleep going back to normal, hope it's sooner rather than later! How is it being back at work Swizzler?

my bro has just escaped again!!! How weird that we said bout it yesterday swizzler, his boss went to visit him & found him a few mins away from the hospital, walking down the busy main road! Cant believe how easy it is for him to just walk around where he likes, security there is crap!

& kai obviously takes after his uncle, as he escaped from his bumbo earlier! Threw himself backwards out of it!

Emzickletodoitallagainsoon · 18/04/2007 18:03

oh, and hence the name - DP and I started to try for another baby, so last month i started taking folic acid and stopped taking pill.. yay

Emzickletodoitallagainsoon · 18/04/2007 18:15

but shhhhhhhhhh dont tell any real people x

Swizzler · 18/04/2007 18:22

Emzickle: lovely to hear from you again Good luck with the ttc.

Work is going OK so far - do feel bad about leaving DS though. He's so happy today with both me and DH at home. I am enjoying being back at work once I get there iyswim

gingeme · 18/04/2007 18:52

Was going to say something earlier Emzickle but didnt know wether to or not. Go for it girl.
I have a friend in labour at the moment. She had a sweep yesterday and is getting contractions every 10 mins or so. So brings back memories. Wish I was Doulaing already so I could give her some real help!!
Lo seems to be taking water now. He had a bout 4 oz earlier and seemed to like it. Might get some baby juice to make it a bit more exciting though.
Got him a lovely car seat from Ebay today(brand new) it goes from birth till theyre 4. Put ds3 in it and he looked great so gonna get him one too. It was a quater of the price that we saw them in Toys R Us!

Rumpel · 18/04/2007 19:04

Hi All,

Good to hear from emzickle and Mellin
Got Amber weighed and measured today - 19.5lbs and 71.5cm. She has her 2 top incisors and top 2 front teeth coming in now.
Poor wee soul is in agony. The last few days have been horrendous - she has had a terrible cold and I have been up and down during the night like a yo-yo, I am soo tired as am still recovering form this cold myself. Feeling sorry for myself today so I had to scoff a choc muffin to cheer myself up

Was out yesterday and saw lots of brand new wee babies - made me to think of Amber being so wee once. Also made me a bit broody - am too fat still though and not in good enough health yet to TTC again. Good on you Emzickle - fingers crossed. Am slightly

Bendy - how is your bro in general? Do you see a difference in him or is he back to his old self?

No rolling/crawling or sitting here either. Lots of lovely cuddles though and putting arms up for lovies - awww makes my heart melt. Met a Mummy at the clinic today who has 8 yes 8 children from 18yrs to 8 months. was surprised she wasn't wearing MC Hammer pants to hold up her bits!

Hi all,

Havent been around much being a mum and working is hard work!!!!
Jasmine has just started sleeping thru again after 3 months of nite waking plus she no longer has her dummy at nite only at her day time naps!!

Jasmine has been rolling for a bout two weeks she looks so cute just cant believe how fast she growing!!1

Samsmam sorry to hear about your granddad!!

Hi bendy you bro really doesnt want to be in hospital does he??

emzickle at you, no not really go for it i cant wait to start trying again not till next year for us though!!!

Hope everyone else is ok? xzx

BENDYB · 18/04/2007 20:34

good luck with ttc emzickle! Cant wait for another 1! But def wanna lose some more weight 1st, think we are either gonna wait till after our hol in sep or after kai's birthday.

rumpel- he seems completely himself, just a bit forgetful, & says things loads of times! But im quite surprised with how well he is doin, i was expecting it to be a lot worse.
He is just gettin so fed up of being in hospital though! & he has been getting quite upset now when we visit coz he just misses everyone, wants to be home etc. poor thing, & its my neice's birthday sat so he upset bout that aswell, my sis in law has asked the hospital if we can all go up there & have presents etc, not sure if that'll make him feel better or worse though.

nice 2 hear from u youngmum, hope works goin ok! x

marthahm · 18/04/2007 21:53

poor you totallyfloaty. that's a long time. he must find it really hard too after seeing her so much for the first 6 months. where's he going and what does he do that takes him away for so long.
great to hear from you again emzickle, i admire your courage! am making v sure not to conceive for a big while.
mellin, surprise surprise, hope's sleep is still out the window. i think solids helped with day time sleeping and i def know now she isn't hungry when she wakes at night. sounds exhausting being with all the rellies. 24/7 is intense. i think we'd have world war 3 if we spent that much time living with any of our sets of parents.
swizz i found work fantastic to do something useful, make a bit of money and have serious conversation. such hard graft had no time to think about dd which was good. so sad to get home and find she was already asleep, had been relying on last cuddle of day. i did wonder how it would feel if she was ill, and your post answered that.
does anyone know if it's worth buying a sun canopy that covers the whole front of pushchair? should i just buy a parasole?
