Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Astrophe · 15/02/2008 17:24

taking a deep breath - have just shouted at both kids and shut them in their room after they jumped o my bed for the 20th time this afternoon, despite frequent warning, pleadings, explainations etc. I am so angry...why can't they just listen? Particularly angry with DD, I felt like shaking her and shouting "WTF is wrong with you?" (I didn't though). Sorry, just had to get that off my chest. I'll let them out now.

laundrylover · 15/02/2008 17:30

{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}} Astro.

You know I'd do the same so you have my full sympathies.

Astrophe · 15/02/2008 22:37

Thanks LL - just what I needed

When DH got home from work work DD asked "Daddy, can we go upstairs and jump on your bed?" Aaaaarrrrgh!!!! I lay down on the sofa and DH did bed time. DD is very robust -to the point where discipline seems wholly ineffective

Frizbe · 16/02/2008 09:32

Astro, a friend of mine has started putting her dd into a corner facing the wall when she's not listening, to give her a few mins to focus without other distractions, its working for her, so might be an idea?? I can see me heading that way with dd2 as the naughty step is getting laughed at well it was till I put them both on there together the other day, I'd have taken a picture of their faces if I wasn't so mad, they both looked so sorry the message got through!! (friz laps room waving arms and manically lauging to self)

I'm bringing Merdian on Sunday too,(hope you don't mind) as her dh has sprung the fact he's working on her in that surely I told you before manner that they sometimes do?

laundrylover · 16/02/2008 12:42

That's cool Friz.....I'm sure we'll be discussing our naughty children at great length eh??

Mine are THE WORST!!!!!

Just sorting out directions for tomorrow....

UniS · 16/02/2008 20:25

face the wall is working fairly well here with boy. don;t hav eto use it too often and sometimes just the threat is enough! ( along with distraction I hasten to add, I am not super mum by any means) .
Hope you have a good day out.
The sheep were OK, the play barn was better. Bpys behaviour in teh car was dreadfull - no leg room poor chap and he whinged about it all teh way. the other chilkd we were with was in push and shove mode all day so many howls from boy about being pushed and shoved. Ho Hum, in a strange way its nice when hes on the recieveing end rather than dishing it out. Easier for me any way.
So, do we put this house on markeyt and hope something we like comes up at teh right time... or do we wait till we see something we like... decisions. Haveing this house valued on monday.

Frizbe · 16/02/2008 20:48

OoOhhh very excited for you Uni, I'm sure the right thing will turn up at the right time
Was it the Big Sheep you went to? we liked the play barn there if it was

Ok will see you there at 12:30 then girls

Frizbe · 16/02/2008 20:50

Phoenix feel very for trace2 for not being believed, can you visit and take ds, waving his anti b's and dodgy feet at the dr's whilst you're there?

Astrophe · 16/02/2008 22:08

WE BOUGHT A BONGO!!!

Its not a camper yet, and we don't actually have it yet, but we paid a deposit, and have paid for conversion as well, so it should be on the road in a few weeks, in time for our April Scotland trip! Hurrah!

Frizbe · 17/02/2008 20:04

Hurrah for the BONGO!
Was great to catch up with you all today, even though it was a bit mad huh, I reckon LL's idea of a whole day next time is a very good idea The dd's had a good time, although dd1 is still a bit off it, I think she's got a cold coming or something? I developed a stonker of a headache on the way home, but have taken nurofen, which seems to have sorted it out for now? So for a nice day, and hope you all got home ok too.

What have you been upto Uni? anything nice? such a shame you're so far away from us all

UniS · 17/02/2008 21:16

We have been in major spring clean mode this w/end. HAve acheieved lots. even got my workshop floor swept with boys "help" dito the patio nd front path. he likes pottering about with a brush as tall as he is ( and thats the small kid sized one!).
Took boy to party this arvo while dh cleaned the oven and bathroom. Sheep cosie worked fine - black fun fur tabard over black trews and top. He wore teh mask we made ( he coloured it in) for about 3 seconds but that was as much as I expected. Poor lad didn;t want to go in to party at first as was niosey and dark and disco lights. gradully warmed up and by teh end was boucing about like a loon to S-club 7 ... Nice cake.
God luck for half term all those with half term looming. its this coming week in Devon.

Astrophe · 17/02/2008 23:27

So sorry again, for being late (again - haven't forgotten Chatsworth )

I would have been 20 mins late anyway, having left church late, but combination of road block, DD vomiting and deciding not to travel at 60mpg on roads scarcely wider than my car meant the damage was much worse. I promise not to be late next time - shall leave the day before and camp out.

DD would now like a "baby sister called Kiah"

Popped back into town to the pud shop and got a game and red wine pie for DH tea, and he was very pleased with me. I was very cross with him as he did not do his assignment or hang the washing on the rads, but instead gas bagged to his mate in Aus for 2 hours!!! Had a row, but then watched Wimbledon - nice rom com, so now we are friends again

DH is pacing and saying he is having 2nd thoughts about the 96 Bongo, saying we should ring tomorrow and upgrade to 97 for £1000 more...I am not so sure...but in the end I'm happy for him to decide, so long as we have a real live actual bongo by the end of March

Thanks for half term wished Uni! Tis this week for us - Going for a walk in local country park tomorrow with friends, then a couple of crafty things on a surestart during the week, so we should be ok.

Happily, am not preggers! Which, also happily, means I can put my psycho mood swing and break downy thing the other day at least partially down to PMS, which is nice

If the weather holds we should have a nice week - if it goes all english again it will be hard though.

Wish you could have come today Uni.

Frizbe · 18/02/2008 10:04

Hoping the weather holds here to Astro you should get a nice walk today, its looking good so far! we're braving mid week Butlins day trip with the grandparents on Wed (gibber) but the pool is good, the rides are free once you're in and Angelina or Bob is usually about (must check website to see!) kids have a good time anyway, which is what counts

Astro, don't worry you weren't that far behind all of us, if I'd have known pud shop was open later I'd have gone and got some later, bah (spent the evening wishing I had a stodgy pud to eat ) but my waist line is glad I didn't
How typical is that of blokes eh, why do they never do anything unless you virtually force them Yay for which ever Bongo, a Bongo is a gogo!! was thinking that there's a fab hippy community thing to visit in Denmark, its in Copenhagen, the gov keep trying to get rid of it, but its hanging on in there, you'll have to pop online when you can and let us know what its like?

Uni, you have been so industrious well done, so excited for your house move

laundrylover · 18/02/2008 20:06

Hi all,

Sneaking on to MN whilst at college and am supposed to be writing a Scheme of Work!!

It was lovely to meet up yesterday and am so sorry that my kids were so f**ing awful. Tilly has gone from dreamchild to screamchild of late! Despite this they had a good time, stayed awake all the way home (ice lollies did help) and Kiah went on non stop about Lou holding her hand and giving her a cuddle and was much in awe of your eldest too Friz.

Anyway, like you Friz I developed a stinker of a headache...got home, disowned kids and had a bath then after bedtime I watched my Sun eve TV (Tropic of Capricorn and 80 Gardens) which only reminded me of my old life, pre kids, dossing around Madagascar.....

Headache all night so stayed in bed til 11am (good old DP took charge). Felt a bit better and we had a picnic in the park with neighbours...not a bad day but knackered now and could do with my tea!

Next time we meet let's do a day with a picnic and somewhere that they can run wild eh?? We'll bring beer and cake.

UniS · 19/02/2008 15:48

Do you think we need a new thread soon?

Our Boiler has sucomed to the curse of MN, its broken down on us. just as we hit a cold snap. grrrr. Engineers phoned on friday when it was merely a bit dodgy and having to be re-set every other day, now its not fireing up at all and teh pump is running constantly - so have switched off all power to it.
Engineers answer phone has been informed, but so far no responce, hope they aren;t on holiday. We do have imersion in tank for hot water and a gas fire inliving room + an electric fan heater so shaln't freze, but house gets kinda cold over night.
I'm off out to cinema tonight, so I shall be warm for a bit. work tomorrow.

Frizbe · 19/02/2008 16:39

Oh gawd Uni and its been freezing today really hope you get it sorted soon, typical, damn house must know you're selling it eh! thinkig warm thoughts for you.

LL I'm sure your kids weren't any worse than the rest of ours? defo a picnic next time you watched the same TV as me too!! lol I so want to go to Argentina

laundrylover · 19/02/2008 20:06

Uni, what a pain about your boiler - hope someone can come out to fix it soon...brrrrr.

V chilly here but no snow - Friz/Astro did you get any as you seem to get snow much more than us these days.

Ahhhhhh Argentina! Look here Friz....our fave place in Buenos Aires even with an 11 month old! Paid about 20 dollars a night!!

Frizbe · 19/02/2008 22:41

LL we had a kinda freezing fog situation, where it kinda snowed a bit, but really it was the fog, a light dusting till it warmed up, just on the cars mainly, odd
Thanks for the hotel link, it looks fab, have put it onto favourites! dh said 'its a long flight to get there' I said 'no further than Vegas!' Ponders if that's another girly trip.....

Uni, looked out the front windows earlier to find a total of two plumbers vans at different houses here, so you're not on your own with the broken boiler.

Astrophe · 20/02/2008 10:21

Uni, hope you are rugging up, and I hope its not us next! I keep cranking up the temperature here - I'm not good with cold. Poor little DS keeps crying and saying "coooold Mummy, Beli is cooooold"

We had snow, but I think it was frozen fog too - it didn't really fall, just settled. We did have quite a bit though (enough for snow balls but not a snow man), although my friend a few streets away had none at all!

DD became suddenly hysterical yesterday afternoon, frightened the life out of me (my first thought was that she had been bitten by a spider ) - turns out she had swallowed a small plastic star off a necklace. I had to work to keep a straight face - she kept sobbing and asking "how are we going to get it out?", and then trying to cough it up, like a cat with a fur ball! Hopefully she has learned her lesson - I am forever telling her not to suck on things.

meridian · 20/02/2008 13:40

hello, I just wanted to say thank you for putting up with me and H in Bakewell on Sunday. it was a lovely day out and H keeps saying how nice it was to play with the other kids.

I shall go back to hiding in arts and crafts now.

laundrylover · 21/02/2008 10:43

Hi Meridian,

It was lovely to have you along and H was great! Like Friz says next time we should do longer as the kids had just started playing really well and then we ran out of time!

Astrophe · 21/02/2008 12:21

Twas good to have you meridian Meant to ask on Sunday, what crafts are you into?

meridian · 21/02/2008 14:18

laundrylover- thank you. we are up for a picnic.. I shall supply cakes. .. now if only the weather would turn nice.

Astrophe- thanks, I paint, knit rather badly, make semi precious beaded jewellery, sketch, and make cards on occasion, oh and bake alot, though not sure if thats a craft or a 50's housewife thing . I have been selling a few bits of jewellery on etsy.. my shop site is here and my blog here if thats any help. it keeps me a little bit sane.

laundrylover · 21/02/2008 14:33

Meridian, I really like your stuff...if only I was a posh lady who lunched!

Uni, sorry I forgot to say that I hope your boiler is fixed and also YES let's have a new thread for March....suggestions for title:

March 06 - it's the terrible twos
March 06 - the quiet thread - no chatting please!!

meridian · 21/02/2008 14:50

ll- thank you.. and I'm not all that posh andi don't think my jewellry is, I prefer it simple and not fussy... I suppose i should do soemthing... but i'm tired have a cold and H is curled up next to me on the sofa like a little cat watching something with animals half asleep... bless
