i'm hear, lurking, tired, making a million cakes for ds's party on sunday! one pesky front middle tooth is still giving him grief, 6 weeks after the other ones popped - poor little boy. still bf-ing, although its rather painful, so strictly 3 a day only!

got his first pair of propper outside shoes this week - Clarks, plus dd needed some too, so have re mortgaged the house!

off to surestart craft group now for the dcs

xx

and hugs to you LL

Frizbe · 16/03/2007 13:09

If I don't get back on before Monday {{{{Hugs}}}}} for Monday LL, kinda manic weekend approaching, so don't expect too. In Brum at Science museam tomorrow, then Lincolnshire with family Sunday, for the mothering thing.....

Astro, have a fab party on sunday 'Happy Birthday' to ds

Frizbe · 16/03/2007 13:10

As Astro, re clarkes, if they're smaller than a H fitting, get upto McArthur Glen, top of A38 just over M1 for next set of shoes, loads cheaper!

UniSarah · 16/03/2007 19:11

wish me luck - in laws just arrived.

Evening all,

Good luck with the in-laws Uni.....have a great weekend Friz....Happy Birthday Astroboy!!!!!

My sis is doing really well, baby gone but is moving on and has moved house today. My cousin's bone marrow test came back negative which is really good news and she is flying home next week we hope. Her sister is with her now having flown from Sydney (we are a far flung bunch for farmer's girls).

Funeral is going from Mum and Dad's to the crem and then we are having a hot buffet at a pub. Don't reckon there'll be any drunken fisticuffs but I'll be sure to let you know if there is!

catASTROPHE · 17/03/2007 22:35

Tkae care LL ((()))

Frizbe · 19/03/2007 11:15

Thinking of you today LL

Astro, good Birthday?

Uni, How were they?

UniSarah · 19/03/2007 20:12

hard work. Both set of grandparents showed up within 10 mins while boy was in teh bath. He slept OK, I didn;t. Saturday was hard work, I was feeling all coldy , dh had streaming eyes and could hardly see. Boy wqasn;t happy if dh or I wern't in teh room.
However we had a nice roast dinner and boy fed himself lots of cauli, beef and roast spud. Tea time we had boys favourite meat balls, sandwiches and then a very chocolaty birthday cake. boy was a picture of chocolaty happyness eating his slice.

RL is taking up far to much time. catch you again tomoz maybe.

catASTROPHE · 19/03/2007 21:04

LL, howd you get on today?

Thanks Friz, t'was lovely. The playdoh went down well and seemed to keep the kids happy and not fighting!

On the whole, I think the adults had a relaxing time too, which was the idea.

DS has also developed a taste for cake, his 2 week long birthday extravaganza has entailed 4 cakes in total, and now he shouts and points if he sees something that looks remotely cakey! I think he may have even said 'cake', but I'm not positive, it could have been 'cow' (which he does say). We also have dog, cat, gone, dada, dar-dar (banana)and car. Hurrah! Another walkiing talking toddler in the house (just what we need, DD is a nightmare at the moment - LL and Friz, when does it end? Tell me its easier once they are 3 ???)

DH is away in France for a week for work. atm I don't miss him as we had a big row on the weekend over lack of help with DS's party and lack of any acknowledgemnt of mothers' day

Hopefully he will bring me back some nice L'Occitane and yummy things to make up for it

catASTROPHE · 19/03/2007 21:06

Oh, Friz, d'you kow where I can get a sponsorship for for Derbyshire Mile? I don't have a printer...

notsolilKel · 19/03/2007 21:58

Hi all - sorry to crash your thread - my DS turned 1 on 12 March & just wondering who has put their name down on a preschool list already (pls tell me nobody has...)

catASTROPHE · 19/03/2007 22:09

well, we plan to be back in Australia by the time DS is 3, and yes, he is on the list there...but, there is a massive shortage of preschool places there and its not free, so a different system altogether.

UniSarah · 19/03/2007 22:12

hello notso. welcome to the thread.
name down for preschool! erk, no. i thought that was still 2 years away. mind you i'm expecting boy to go to the local not very well regarded school coz its in easy walking distance. Can't see there being a scramble for places ...
i've had his name down for heuristic play since B4 christmas tho, hoping for a place after easter.

hi friz, ll, astro etc . we had hail , i thought of you lot up the froxen north.

Hi all,

Glad the birthday celebrations went well - you'll have to wait for the end of the month for Kiah!

Tilly got her nursery place (in fact she got 2) last week but I left it too late to get her in to our local community playgroup so that I can start to use my vouchers after Easter. Anyway she is on the waiting list so hopefully some poor child will be expelled for bad behaviour or eat too many Easter eggs and have to leave!! haven't even thought about Kiah yet!

Uni, we had snow!! Only a bit but Tilly played in the garden and even agreed that there wasn't enough to go sledging.

Astro, I'm afraid that the term 'terrible twos' does not seem to become redundant at 3. Tilly is still a pain most of the time but at other times she is an angel. She is going through an ordering phase that involves lining up books, toys, furniture etc. in the most awkward places and then having a tantrum if you move anything.
I am horrified that your DH did nothing for Mother's Day. That is very naughty especially if he was going off for a week. Too right he better bring you something back!!! Have a good week whilst he's away and pop on here for support if you need it - I found most things easier on my own actually!

Well, the funeral went without a hitch. I made some leaflets with photos of Nanny through her life on which were well received. On the way to the crem most of us cousins were in one car and even the driver joined in our laughter and said we were the jolliest car he had ever driven. I did cry at the crem though as my mum did the service and my sister had written a lovely poem that she read out. My BIL to be played the bagpipes too which was funny but still made me cry. At the end Tilly went up to my mum and as the curtain closed she said 'bye bye Big Nanny' which seems a good way to end it. Hot buffet at the pub for about 30 people and then we all piled back to the farm for mayhem - sharing out the jumbly bits from nanny's flat, eating round the massive table, arguing etc. Slept in til gone 9am this morning....

Frizbe · 20/03/2007 18:40

LL that was a nice thing for tilly to say, glad the day went as well as can be expected for these things.

Astro, they don't get any better, dd1 currently alternating between shouting/screaming at me and being nice in an attempt to get ice cream, which she is not having

dd2 is teething, just screamed placed down for last half hour whilst I scoffed my tea, reading what you lot have been upto, cause I'm a bad mother! but I need to eat took, and she ate at 5pm. We usually all eat together, but with dd1 at nursery today, I lobbed a jar and a pot of fruit into dd2 instead, cheat of a mother!

Uni, thanks for thinking of us, its bitter up here! brrrrrrrrbrbrbrbrbrbbrbrrrrrrrrrr
Glad ds had a fab birthday

Astro lol at 'cake' as well, dd2 can't say much apart from Mama, dada, gabebel - which is Gabriel, the odd iz and hiya or hello, which she's quite clear on
She seems to happily fetch things when told to tho kinda like having a dog, only
noisier

Hi Lilkel, no names down here!! mind you will probably just send her to the nursery one, where she goes 1 day a week anyway, they're generally happy to carry you on, on the free places if your child already goes there. I do know there is fierce competition for the other two school attached nurseries in the area tho

laundrylover · 21/03/2007 14:27

Hi Friz,

at you scoffing at the computer. It's a lovely day here, bright sunshine but bloody freezing. I pegged out a load of washing but gave up when I got to the socks and stuck them on a radiator for later - my hands were frozen!

I've been racking my brains to think of your SS's name (hence the 'and family' on the card) and now your DD2 has provided the answer!! Kiah just garbles lots really but does say daddy and mama quite well. Like DD2 she's does little errands like crawls off to wake Tilly up in the morning - awwww.

Astro-how you doing as a single mum for the week?

Uni, stop doing so much RL and get back on here!

Skibump still skibumping???

UniSarah · 21/03/2007 17:59

Yo LL, I did it for you, I have 2 loads of washing out on teh line flapping nicely in teh sun. Nedd to go and get them on but waiting for Dh to get home so I don't have to take boy with me, finding his shoes and coat etc.

Klecksi finger paint- from lidl. says washes off with soap and water. Boy looks like he's been tangoed, maybe baby shampoo isn't strong enough soap.
goingto feed ducks tomoz. as boy is saying duck duck a lot and i'm not sure he really knows what ducks are appart from bath toys.

OP posts:
catASTROPHE · 22/03/2007 15:49

oh, very discouraged at your ratbag DD1s LL and Friz! Their antics did make me laugh, but it was a dry, hollow sort of laugh, 'cause I know I'm up next!

Doing ok, it is easier without DH here! No negotiions about whos doing what, and grumpiness when he doesn't do what I want etc!

Must go, DS woken up from his nap and is howling upstairs...

Frizbe · 22/03/2007 16:24

lol at easier without dh, they do get in the way of a good routine sometimes don't they Will print and send you a form Astro!

I got loads of washing on the line yest too, shame today not as good eh!

Uni re Duck, Duck, reminded me of being on boating holiday, when preggers with dd1, lad on next boat kept saying, duck, duck, duck, duck, to his dad, who came out with a classic norther, 'thems not ducks lad, thems swans!!

UniSarah · 22/03/2007 19:59

well we went and fed ducks ( and swans and pigeons) then went to the playground and boy enjoyed the swing LOTs. Not sure he believed me that these brown things were ducks tho. Friends 2 yr old was very chatty about it all tho claiming the swans were saying "thank you K for my bread" Both boys were total sweeties in the cafe tho when we retreated from the rain for milk and buns.
Anyone got a triamph buggy ( Mclaren) are they any good? I've been offered a 2nd hand one free. I'm taking a look at it tomoz.
I must be VERY lucky with my dh, I find it harder when hes not around for a day or two. no time off from boy. I really like that hour after he gets home from work and I can hand boy over.
Do you think skibump has got lost on a mountian?

OP posts:
Frizbe · 22/03/2007 22:29

I bet she's enjoying the apres ski

Dd2 looked at me like I was a looney too Uni, telling her the ducks, swans and other assorted floating birds (technical aren't I) were what they were!

The Mclaren is a good buy, I know several people who have one, so if for free go for it!! they pack down well and are fairly light, if you need to brave public transport! the hood is great too, for sun and rain! I was looking at one in Tesco the other day.....can't afford it yet tho, still trying to sell the tandem locally!! no takers so far, so have shipped it off to my mums (richer area!) in the hope someone will pick it up! and put me back in pocket!

UniSarah · 23/03/2007 19:15

had a look at the Mclaren today- it's turned out to be a quest which I think is slightly higher spec than triamph. apart form the seat being a bit mildewed its seems to be in good nick, So I've brushed and washed the seat and its come up OK. . As it'll fold with the hood on I can make do with it as my main pushchair - we use the bus a lot. So big pram will head back to its owner by juggler mail eventully.

early bed time tonight, trying to even out the clocks changeing on saturday night, 15 min earlier each today and tomoz then 15 min later sun and mon.
At least boy and I do agree on WHAT a cat is
in RL. Today he gained scraped shins from climbing teh garden steps repeatly. Nice to be out side with him tho.

Just catching up on the duck news!

Well, I turned 35 on Thurs and spent the day at a Le Leche League get together. An american woman did two presentations about 'learning from animals' (natural birth etc.) and about how we always present bfing as something 'special' when in fact we should just say that it's 'normal' and that bottle feeding isn't - really got me inspired and have been boring everyone ever since.

Had a girly day out in Harrogate today - Betty's tearooms, then turkish baths and then slapup meal!!!! Wow. I feel so pampered that I've sent DP to the pub to catch the end of the England match.

Where is the Derby mile for Maude as maybe we could incorporate a meet up Friz/Astro??

catASTROPHE · 24/03/2007 21:20

Sounds like you have had a lovely time bieng spoiled, and I'm very happy for you, especially as you have had such a hard time lately.
UniSarah · 24/03/2007 22:13
