OMG Friz, that sounds like an awful experience. Are you OK now - still shook up I guess? Our big shelves downstairs are not screwed to the wall and I worry about the girls climbing up them....will pester DP again about fixing them....

We had the same prob about staff when we had the garden centre....it's so important to have weekends as a family tho, esp with your SS being in the equation. OTOH I can see why your DH would want to give up his day job....difficult. Ideally you would have someone who could cover every other weekend eh?

Running kit smelling fresh on the radiator. I always just leave it on the bed to dry and then stick it back in a drawer for next time....TBH it was only a long sleeve silky top that was really smelly! That manmade fibre is OK for a while but when it goes it really goes.

Frizbe · 14/01/2008 11:29

minging!

I'm only shaky now when I think about it ......but we're all ok which is what matters, I'd say yes, pester him again! the amount of times I've told her, including this am, not to play with the drawers etc....hope she's learn't a lesson now

Agree re the weekends, ss is happy in the shop though, as he can play with the other kids who come in, so its not too bad (we actively encourage people into play games and paint!) so its just the girls who are missing out on dh at the moment.

I'm also feeling very sleep deprived today, as up 3 times in night with dd2.....why won't that kid sleep?

Astrophe · 14/01/2008 15:09

crikey friz, I'm so glad she is ok.

DD did similar about a year ago, but it was because she had pulled all the drawers open, which shifted the weight forward and made the whole chest of drawers tip. Maybe that happened? Anyway, great reminder re the screwing them to the wall, we have the little things to screw on (from ikea), and fitted about half, but then dh got distracted - perhaps I will try my hand at drilling

I did 20 mins on the excercise bike last night, there is a display which tells how many calories you have burned. It was very dispiriting. I burned 100cal, then hungrily ate some fat free yoghurt, and realised I had just put it straight back on, just like that

Frizbe · 14/01/2008 17:14

Oooh maybe that's what happened Astro? I only saw it leaning forwards, with all the drawers open, so maybe?

Ah don't ya just hate it when that happens, but at least it was fat free yog I've been attempting to be good this week and having at least two lots of fruit with my lunch (a sandwich) going with the theory of filling up on fruit = less rubbish to be eaten at home later I've been on sachets of porridge for breakfast as well (as I eat less them Tea will be mainly chicken or salmon/fish this week with veg or rice (sounds great in theory till I blow it by eating desert somewhere!!)

UniS · 14/01/2008 21:32

LL- still running here, did a track session tonight 6x 3 mins with 3 mins recovery between at 6 min km pace. I have some smelly Ts that only get used for running, worn on top of tracksters and a technicial long sleve Top. I was teh tech T every time so its not got Toooo whiffy, the tracksters do yoga and running then get washed.

Friz- eeeeek. scary moment. I have been vaguly thinking about fixing boys chest of drawers to the wall, havn;t done it as thinking his room is soo small that if they did tip they would be stopped by teh chair which would be stopped by the cot. howver once we take teh cot side off that doesn;t work so maybe I should fix sooner rather than later.

survived weekend with inlaws.

laundrylover · 15/01/2008 09:32

Why is it so wet and horrible outside???

Uni, I guess that my good pace must be 6 min km as I did the 10k in 1 hour. Not back up to that yet though - will try and do a few miles later when rain eases....am sitting here in my fresh smelling kit.

Well ladies I started my college course last night and it was really good! Very strange being back at school after so long though and also to find out that everything is done on computers these days! I'm doing an 11 week course 'Intro to Teaching in Lifelong Learning'. Really it's just because I have a company marketing a course I wrote who insist on this qualification but actually I think it will be really good for me.

UniS · 15/01/2008 16:09

LL- I can do my target 6min per K pace for a short while ( about 3 mins) but I need to work on sustaining it if I'm going to manage a 30 min 5km race whcih is my target. I want to do teh great west 5k in May . did it last year in 34, recon I can get down to 30 if I try.

Rain, rain go away, I want to dry my nappies out side.
Have been very good and done my filing and important work related e-mails BEFORE coming on MN. such saintlyness can not last.
Loked at weather this morning and phoned BF to offer a ride to supermarket and a coffee at cafe. Anything to get boys out of house on p*ss wet morning. Boy was in Chreche this afternoon for first time in a month. No problems, he was rareing to get in there and play,he waved bye bye and got on with painting.

Frizbe · 15/01/2008 22:52

Horribly wet I agree and its not stopping till the weekend either

Well done on the running girls, I need to do some more outside running, will do when the nights get lighter, weather gets more ambient! in the meantime I did hula aerobics tonight, which was good, but they've cut the class to 45mins, which I was a bit at. BB sitting tomorrow night and dh working late on Thur, so may get to exercise again Fri?

Frizbe · 15/01/2008 22:53

LL course sounds interesting I keep thinking about French or Spanish, but can't fit it in this year with dh still doing some 'other work' and juggling shop, kids and exercise! maybe next year once I can guarantee dh home at a reasonable hour!

UniS · 17/01/2008 19:47

It stopped. for long enough this afternoon /evening to get aload of washing fairly dry on teh line. Hurrah.
HAve taken teh plunge, have arranged to go and look at some houses for sale on saturday. see if we like what we can afford in a nice village.

Frizbe · 17/01/2008 20:11

Ooooh links!!!!

Astrophe · 17/01/2008 20:53

Yes, do share Uni! Love house hunting!

It must be much warmer down south, or much windier! I have put washing out the past 3 days (not today - very wet here), because the house s going mouldy, but the ashing has come in just as wet as it went out, and then I've had to re-hang it all on the radiators, so no more of that!

Bargain eco friendly dish and clothes washing powder here ladies, - half the price of ecover!

5 for the price of 4, and free delivery too.

Got mine yesterday - have been using half the amount they say (1 tablet rather than 2) and 3 washes have come up very clean.

laundrylover · 17/01/2008 23:03

Might give that a try Astro....

Just a quickie to say that I am off down south for the weekend when we pick Tilly up from pre school tomorrow.

Going to see the brand new baby who had his tongue tie snipped today! Everybody much happier it seems.

Catch up next week, jolly weekends all.

Frizbe · 17/01/2008 23:19

Hurrah for him getting snipped them
which reminds me my friend gave birth the other day and I've not heard owt since, must chase up and check all ok.

Astro, thanks for the link, I've been using that for a while now (coop do it, and sainsburys have started) but 5 for 4 is always good in fact can't believe I forgot to mention it to you all I found it when dh reckoned he'd gone allergic to ecover?? (don't tell him I still use ecover conditioner, shhhhh)

Frizbe · 17/01/2008 23:20

PS: Have a lovely weekend.

are the 3 we hope to see on saturday. not sure about the whole idea at the mo, but thought we would take a look.
Its windy down here. We are on a hill over looking the sea. so plenty of wind to dry washing if I can get it out for an hour or 2 it comes in dryer than wet. IYSWIM.
Stupidly early start on sunday I have to be on the motorway by 7.30 am... uuuurgh. Start work at 8.30 in north devon.
best wishes to Logan and family, hope they can get sorted with happy feeding now.

Astrophe · 18/01/2008 20:24

Have a great weekend LL!

Uni, I envy your hill top seaside position. By the end of the year it will be me!

Today we dropped DD at nursery, went around the corner to womens group at the church, then back to nursery, home, then had friends over for tea this arvo/evening...and DS had NO ACCIDENTS! I am very proud

A fried who is expecting no2 has asked me to go with her t a Real nappies event to give her my opinions on the different ypes, and I know it will make me extremely broody, now that we are (almost - we still nappy at night) nappy free.

The DC and their little friend had a food fight at tea, whilst my mate and I were gasing - I as v v v v cross, but managed not to shout, which is a minor victory as well.

Astrophe · 18/01/2008 20:28

I can only get the third link t work Uni. Love the little stone walled patio - it's gorgeous!

Frizbe · 19/01/2008 09:14

Ok Uni I'm going to look in a mo, we're on top of a hill too can't see much bar other houses from the garden though, have to crane neck from bedroom window to see more hills

Astro, don't rub it in you do realise we're all coming to visit don't you?! Are you heading back to the same part of Aus you came from, or will you head somewhere different?

We really must do a meet soon girls!! I'll check my diary for Feb, see if we can managed before the birthdays, are Sundays good?? I could scrape a Sat afternoon I reckon?

So what you all upto today then?
I tried yesterday (rather late) to get last min tickets to panto, as finally got someone to bbsit dd2, but they only had the Gods, and dd1 would have freaked up there, so not bothering now for dd1....next year I'll take them both, then it won't be a problem. Shout if you see Dora touring, as have promised that instead. So instead I'm here in shop this morning, then home this avo via shops n park if stays fine?? then tomorrow visiting mum and dad before they go away for 2 weeks. [Teneriffe again, I wish they'd just buy somewhere there, job done!)
Whispers, dd2 went to sleep at 8pm and got up at 7am.....tiptoes away....

Frizbe · 19/01/2008 09:21

Uni, that looks lovely, like the garden, even if it is a wander away!

So I got nosey and had a look, as Astro's right only the 3rd link worked, I quite like this one

www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-18440606.rsp?pa_n=1&tr_t=buy but have no idea where it is in relation to where you want to buy!

Frizbe · 19/01/2008 09:24

www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-17469626.rsp?pa_n=2&tr_t=buy this is lovely too, particularly like their table, though think it may not be for sale!!

Frizbe · 19/01/2008 09:26

www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-9663636.rsp?pa_n=3&tr_t=buy home of the firework display??

Frizbe · 19/01/2008 18:55

Well its spotted here a bit, but we're just above the rain line today....tomorrow apparently we're piss wet through. We did the park for an hour, had lunch at local cafe (just down from shop) then the dd's and I dropped ss at the shop (and dh's lunch) and popped to coop via knitting shop next door, where I got another lurid pink ball of wool to knit another dolls blanket, this time for dd2 as they're fighting over the one I made for dd1's doll

I also had a fab find this afternoon, dragged the girls to a fabric shop in a nearby village, primarily to get felt and ribbon for valentines window display, when I discovered they have fabric swatches for chairs Now have a really nice fabric pattern in two different golds in mind for the chairs (contempory flower thing), just have to check the guy who I have lined up to do the chairs doesn't mind using my fabric instead of his

UniS · 19/01/2008 21:51

Thanks for teh tip off about teh sticklepath house. might phone and try and sort out a vist next weekend when we hopefully get out there to see teh 1st 3... had a call from estate agaents this morning to say that owners of the house we were most interested in ( notteh pretty one where teh link worked but a rather cheaper ex council house!) had a kid with D&V so didn;t want a veiwing. fine, I don;t want a kid with D&V either so we have re arranged to next saturday.
The pretty garden house is interesting... not sure we want a tiny but pretty cottage. We will look tho.
Astro- we are not quite sea side. we are 10 miles from teh beach but can see it IYSWIM , on a clear day I can tell if teh tide is in or out. We look down an esturary( from a great height).
Boy slept in this morning. DH woke boy up at 10.30am.
tomoorrow I work. lihgting a dance show.

Frizbe · 19/01/2008 22:13

Wow! glad I could help, thought you'd have been off to view that one already, glad I looked now think I found one that a friend may be interested in up here too (one up our way, I just had a general surf, till the shop busied up)
