Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
UniS · 19/01/2008 22:32

oohh, forgot a bot. I used a terry square nappy today for teh 1st time! dispite haing had it for 18 months! today we ran out of nappies and the square was to hand so I tried it making up the fold to get something that looked about right. Why didn;t i do that ages ago. was fine. might use it more often ...

Astrophe · 20/01/2008 20:15

We used only terr squares for DD. They were ok, but had draw backs - looked HUGE on a newborn bum, and not as absorbent on the places that count. But ok. And they dried quickly. I alwasy recommend them when people are saying " I'm not sure if I need 8 or 10 washables or whatever number)' - I tell em to get 8, plus a few terries as back ups, because they are so much cheaper. We did this with those nasty cheap plastic pants too - always have a pair as a back up.

Am just 'coming down' with a migraine, so can't see very well...off to bed now, its a good time of the day to get one really

laundrylover · 21/01/2008 14:56

Ooh, you have been chatty whilst I was away! Uni, I haven't looked at the links will do soon....

Astro, don't talk about moving back to Oz, we really must meet up soon - yes Friz, let's look at Feb. Give me some dates woman.

We had a nice weekend away which was ruined slightly by us trying to visit 4 recommended veggie places, all of which were shut. We basically spent about 5 hours of our holiday travelling to closed places in the rain and then ended up at Burger King and Pizza Hut!

My new nephew is very cute but I must report that he didn't make me feel broody in the slightest so that feels like good progress.

I have hurt my ankle properly again so no running - am feeling very pessimistic about the half marathon in March. Think I may splash out on a physio appointment this week....

UniS · 21/01/2008 15:45

Hi LL- bum about teh closed veggie eateries, out of season for vegtables is it?
Work yesterday was good, I had fun being creative with light. it was an afternoon show so although I did have V early start I WAS home for boys bedtime. Woke up early this morning with V engorged boobs tho, 48 hours between breastfeeds- ouch. Wasn;t too bad after 36 so hadn;t done owt about it yesterday evening.
Ought to go and make crumble and then bread, but boy is asleep so enjoying a break.

Frizbe · 21/01/2008 21:11

Uni, ouch for your boobs (wince) glad you had a fun show though, nice to work doing something you enjoy eh

LL, for the closed restaurants, odd? everyone gone to caribbean for the winter??
for nice time with nephew and family though.

I can be free Sunday 17th Feb or Thursday 31st Jan or Thursday Feb 7th, as my mum is still away no babysitter for next 3 Thursdays so as shop in quiet month have said to dh, not paying out for nursery (also lots of arse to change tax credits for just 3 weeks, and thats the only way it'd be half affordable) so the girls and I get some more quality time together

Astro, how's the head?

laundrylover · 22/01/2008 09:55

I second that booby ouch Uni - I'm very lucky with mine I think - no pain even if I miss two nights!

Astro/Friz, I can do Sun 17th but will struggle with any week days at the mo as am working full time....Astro can you do something on that Sunday??

I'm just trying to get a physio appt as this foot is really getting me down.

Frizbe · 22/01/2008 09:58

for bad foot LL, hope you can get apptmt very soon, is it a sprain do you reckon? or have you knak'd a tendon?

dd1 up at 2.30am for a yell here? dh had to get up, as she wouldn't settle for me then woken by dd2's foot in my back at 6am, no idea how long she'd been in bed with us

Have to go and do the accounts, really not wanting too

laundrylover · 22/01/2008 10:18

Friz, you make me laugh when you don't know that DD2 has got in your bed! I wish I could sleep that heavily!

Got an appt at 9am tomorrow. I can now isolate the pain to a small area on top of my foot, outside edge but it's radiates all up my leg. I am worried it is a stress fracture of a metatarsel but will hopefully find out tomorrow. It's the fact that it hurts all the time that worries me most as it seems like running on it again may be a distant dream and I was really enjoying it. Feeling fat and depressed right now.

Good luck with your accounts - DP doing our tax returns and trying to scrape money together for tax bill until Tax Credits pay us the 2 grand that they are holding back..... You know it pisses me off that I am working full time and we are still living hand to mouth! Must stop spending!!!! I want an extension this year and a proper kitchen!!!!!!Moan, whinge, grunt, grunt.....ahhhh feel better now, will go an earn some pennies.

Frizbe · 22/01/2008 21:09

Its a bloomin nightmare the tax credits thing, isn't it, I'm just praying that we didn't go over the threashold last year, as we may owe them a bit back which we desperatly need at the moment, as obviously now we have the shop, we're earning less again, as in more debt again

Hope its not a fracture for your sake and you're so NOT FAT, did you get that? you're slimmer than me ya jammy git. As are you too Astro, before you start

re me sleeping through dd2 climbing into bed, I think she's just done it that often, that I've stopped noticing. In fact the day she didn't do it, I did wake up and check the bed

Astrophe · 23/01/2008 09:52

got ds on my hip (again) and laptop in the kitchen, so just a quick one handed hello. head is fine now, thanks. Hope the foot improves quick smart LL.
x

laundrylover · 23/01/2008 10:26

Astro, glad that migraine has gone.

Just back from the physio - not good news. Like me she is worried that it could be a stress fracture but for a week is treating it as ligament damage and then if no improvement will go for an X-ray. I can now pinpoint exactly where it is on the top of my foot (very sore now after much prodding) so at least I know where to put the frozen peas! Grrrrr....soooo cross about this injury.

Friz, thanks for reminding me that I'm not so fat these days. Just wonder how I am going to stop piling it back on with no weigh in (at college not Slimming World), no exercise and mucho choc cravings!!!

If you owe tax credits they should only reduce your payments eh? But if you can predict a fall in income this year it may even out eh? Good luck.

Frizbe · 23/01/2008 22:24

LL fingers x'd for the foot not having a fracture, see how it goes eh...

Bbsitting at Meridians at the mo, have made valentines window display stuffed hearts for the shop! also done some hearts hanging from ribbons, but may have to play with pipe cleaners to stop the tops flopping.....will see if I use the hanging ones or not, see what they're like when they're up!

dd1 did ballet for the 1st time today and loved it hurrah! instructor is lovely and its at the school she may be going to (fingers x'd) great plus is you can use school facilities whilst class is on, so dd2 played in sandpit and read two books!

UniS · 25/01/2008 19:26

Ouch LL.
VAlentines day window display at a games shop??? do gamers "do" the opposite sex and romance?
Boy is on teh wars. hes tripped over his own feet a few times today and now sports 4 grazes on his forehead. great.
tomorrow we go look at houses! So Dh will be missing "fathers for toast" as the dads group sems to have been christened. Gonna try and have nice pub lunch.

Frizbe · 25/01/2008 20:08

yay for houses, how exciting
for tripping up boy though, dd1 did lots of that, bit right through her lip at one point, still has the scar

Been and donated my blood today for the 1st time, donor virgin

Yep gamers do have other halves quite a lot of them anyway! A lot of our younger gamers have parents too As it is I've put a few 'stuffed' hearts on the displays and petled the shelves and bottom of window the red goes nicely on the black!

Astrophe · 25/01/2008 20:23

good for you, giving blood Friz. I have not done it here - used to in Aus, but had to stop after i was here last, as they have a rule about giving blood if you have lived too long in the UK due to mad cows!

Hows the foot LL?

Happy house hunting Uni.

UniS · 26/01/2008 19:46

PUb lunch nice, found teh play ground so pickle had a run around before lunch. he didn;t enjoy house hunting much and was being a real pickle by the last of the 5. At which house I managed to get one of the internal door stuck shut, thus rendering the estate agent unable to lock teh house up....oops. didn't like it either, was that 3/4 bed house in sticklepath Friz, very strange layout inside.
Did quite like a 3 bed in south zeal that is so new on the market ( yesterday) that we have no details, its at top of our budget. Not sure how much further we want to take things will sleep on it and see what we think tomoz.

Righto, off to phone my parents and talk holidays. Dhs parents are trying to tempt us to join them in South Africa ! in sept. not going to, don;t think a 2 yr old needs to be flown long haul for a holiday , he'd be just as happy in cornwall.

FlameNFurter · 27/01/2008 19:08

Gamer other half here. Tis a joy

Frizbe · 27/01/2008 20:07

Astro, really are we considered that much of a liability still wow!

Uni, oooh how exciting re the south zeal house I think south africa could be nice, its not that long a flight?

Well Meridian has had my dd2 all day and dd1 this afternoon, whilst we ran a YuGiOh! hobby league at the store, which thankfully went down well on our 1st attempt at doing it, hurrah
Also just got a mail from ss's mum, as she was going to have our old cot off us for £20.00, but damn Ikea have changed their matress sizes and cot sizes as of last June, the swines so you can't recycle their old ones now....you have to buy a new one which is really crap of them I think, so much for eco friendlyness eh

Astrophe · 27/01/2008 22:23

Yeah, you mad cows are polluting our blood supply! (actually, it may have changed in the last few years)
I'm glad your yogi-ogi thingy went well (can you tell I a not a gamer!? )

Grrr at ikea, they are keen on odd mattress sizes. We got DD's junior bed from there, and they only sell plain white fitted sheets for it, and you can't get them anywhere else because they are a bizarre size. I bought 2 and tie dyed them nice colours.

So SS's mum is having another baby then?

Any more thoughts on the house Uni?

Hows the foot LL?

We did some camper van hunting on Saturday - looks like we may buy in the next few weeks! Exciting!!! We are taking in to Scotland in April fr a trial run.

Today we had an Australian Day party and watch Kath and Kim with our other Aussie friends (it was Australia Day yesterday). Everyone at home gets a public holiday tomorrow!

laundrylover · 28/01/2008 09:54

Morning chatty ladies!

Friz, so your extended family is extending more eh? Can SS mum not get a similar size mattresss off the internet? BTW Tilly has an Ikea bed and I just use normal bottom sheets and tuck the end in more....

Valentines day.....what's that then??

Uni, houses.....sounds like you're not sure that you want to move at all eh?? You'll know when you see a house that jumps out at you though. Go to SA woman. I'd jump at the chance!! One of my fave countries ever. We did 13 hours long haul with Tilly and it was fine....not sure about doing with two if the little blighters though....

Flame - hello gaming widow what you doing on 'ere woman???

Foot - still poorly. Have been having a brief convo with Tiktok and the poss of a link to SPD is forming in my mind. The physio mentioned bfing as a cause of softened ligaments and have kind of forgotton about my pelvic problems when I was pregnant. I may have to choose between bfing and running....

OMG the sun is out!!!! Must get washing on line and another lot in!!! Am going to London Tues/Weds so catch up on Thurs.

Frizbe · 28/01/2008 23:22

Yup it sure is apparently not with the matress, so far anyway, Ikea are getting back to them?

Happy Australia Day belated Astro
Which van are you guys getting? do we get a link? can anyone do 17th??

Have you heard CSWS is pregnant, yay!

Astrophe · 29/01/2008 00:13

forgive me - csws? (I'm sure I should know...)

Thanks for Australia Day wishes

We are looking at Mazda Bongos...got close to buying from a Trader on the weekend, but we have seen one online near Birmingham that we may try to see before we take the plunge. Tis very exciting!

Just got off the phone to my Dad, he and Mum will be in the UK and Europe around the same times as we travel, so we are trying to organise times and places to meet up with them, which is proving rather difficult!

UniS · 29/01/2008 14:58

Re-S.africa. I'm not coninved long haul is worth it for a 1 week trip doing the kind of things we could do in cornwall. The carbon cost is big, the money cost is big. The child will get very little out of it and I don;t particulay wish to spend a week in a time share apartment on a holiday park with my in laws.
They were offering us the chance to take on one of their time share weeks permanently... no thanks. Wonder if they heard we were spending a week in cornwall with my folks and descided to play one up man ship.
From my own childhood memories of being taking around the europe at a young age I rememebr very little of it before I was 9 and even that one all I remember was a string of parks and playgrounds and swimming pools and my dad breaking a thermos flask.

We probadly will be flying with boy in the summer as that looks like a sensible way to get to copenhagen from southwest england. probadly 2 short flights each way. Ought to go and try another route option for prices. Bye.

Frizbe · 29/01/2008 22:40

Fair do's Uni, I guess I'm the opposite of you! I rememeber every single holiday out of the country (including my 1st helicopter flight to the Scily Isles age 2 ) so not quite out of the country there, lol.

Mazda Bongo looks great (Ford Freda too right, doesn't sound as good tho!) if we had one less in the family I'd go for one for events lol at you trying to catch your parents in Europe and there was I thinking they'd come all this way to see you, not go sightseeing

Been to Hula Aerobics again tonight, I can highly recommend it for toneing your middle

Frizbe · 29/01/2008 23:06

Oh sorry Astro CSWS, used to be Tabs a long time ago, sure you must 'know her?'
