Uni, I gather you are not too fond of the ILs then? My folks have time shares and have given them to us on occassions, imho free accommodation is not to be sneezed at! (unless you don't like the givers!) Sure, we would prefer a cottage to a resort type place, but we are beggars so...

Oh bugger , I just noticed the time - I was SO tired all day today, but have stayed up too late, again. (at self)

UniS · 30/01/2008 16:04

The in laws are Ok in short doses. Even dh isn;t keen on going to SA with them! Which is handy.
Just sorted out our flights to denmark. Hurrah.
Found out in the process that our C.card has been copied. BOOOO Hiss.
My mum came to the rescue, hurrah.

Mazda Bongo just makes me laugh every time I read the name. Ho wmany do they seat? don;t surpose ist big enough for SiL and her tribe ( 2 adults 6 kids).

Frizbe · 30/01/2008 21:01

at cc copying Uni, phew that you've found out now though and can get it sorted, the swines......

laundrylover · 31/01/2008 11:37

Morning all,

Hope you've sorted out your CC Uni. Can see your point on SA - I was thinking more safari than resort you see! We are spending easter weekend (and my birthday!) with the whole of DPs family!!! At Centreparcs.

Just been back to docs for second time this week. Had lumpy lymph node in neck felt on Mon and then found a lump in my boob last night. Pushed for a referal which the doc said she would give me 'because I am anxious'! Too bloody right - I have seen one friend live through breast cancer, another having chemo right now and my cousin just clear of lymphoma! No way am I waiting four f**king weeks.

UniS · 31/01/2008 20:49

Swines indeed. If it was copied at all. we still don;t know for sure. The bank are acting on intelligence about a seris of numbers that our happen to be in. Do wonder if with Dhs recent business trip to two countries and my useing it with a web shop in a 3rd with in a week .... they may have jumped to the wrong conclusion.
Ho HUM.
Got holiday apartment sorted now as well. hurrah.
Took boy and K and Ks mum to Bicton park today so teh boys could let off steam in teh HUGE soft play barn. well worth teh trip, sun even came out so we could take a splashy walk round the garden, look at teh ducks and eat our picnic outside.

Frizbe · 31/01/2008 22:03

Uni, take it you've not had the horrible wind, rain and hail that we have then Glad you had a nice day and that hols are sorted out

{{{Hugs}}} LL, hoping its nothing for you.

Have invested in new wellies for the girls in my 'lunch' break today, as they'd both grown out of their last pairs and Snow is forecast hoping it does, so they can both have lots of fun in it!!

UniS · 01/02/2008 19:47

Have to laugh. MiL having taken on board what her son has said about not wishing to take his family to SA for a week come back to him yesterday with a different idea. Medira (sp?) in May, shame dh isn't allowed any leave till July! Hes almost as unkeen on that idea as he was on SA. LOL.
LL hope you get the all clear.
Friz hope you get just enough snow to be fun. We are unlikley to get any here tho there was some on the high moor today.
Yesterday was squally heavey rain showers and sun inbetween. bit like today was too.
I'm working in teh morning, boring work too. still dh is around so not having to pay for childcare in order to do the work. Then on Sunday I'm doing some unicycle coaching with a club of kids on teh other side of the county should be a good morning.

Astrophe · 01/02/2008 21:15

Hope you have a good weekend Uni

Fingers crossed for some more snow - we went mad this arvo as we were outside playing when it started, but it stopped and melted too quickly.

Got new shoes for DD yesterday (her toes were touching the end, and I only just noticed ) - not wellies (she still fits hes, as I bought them too big at the beginning of seson), but she chose pink leather ones, and she is just so delighted with them and keeps going to look at herself in the oven door - bless her - it makes me smile

LL, I hope you will be fine - keep us posted hey?

Frizbe · 02/02/2008 11:16

Astro bless her. Hope you're having some fun in the snow this am, we still have some up here, in case your's has gone, so get up into the hills I'm betting Chatsworth is sledge worthy

LL how you feeling today?

Uni at MIL, she just wants to spend quality time with all of you is she totally oblivious that you don't get on?

UniS · 02/02/2008 19:43

What MiL doesn;t know is that we are waiting to find our which week we get allocated in a holiday lottery in the autum and then plan to invite them down to join SiL, BiL and all the kids for a BIG family get together.
Dh and I have come to teh conclusion that we don;t do relaxing hoidays. we like active trips , even on our most chilled out hol in the last few years we were still running and cycling and taking long walks.

Work- Arrrrggghhhh. some numbskiull had taken keys home last night that are never suposed to leave teh building. So I couldn;t unlock teh kit I needed. Wasted morning. I'm mildly cross.

Boy and shoes. just ordered & had him measured for a new pair. T bar shoes 6 / 6.5 being made xtra wide and with long T bar in black with blue eyelets, stiching and footbed. Current pair are being stretched AGAIN, lengthways this time tho they have no width ways strech left hence the new pair ordered.

LOL at admiring herself in oven door. cute. Boy would need to grow a foot before he could do that. he just runs into doors with out looking.

Frizbe · 03/02/2008 18:42

Uni re the keys going home by accident, sorry it messed up your day, do you still get paid for it?

Nice idea re your family BIG holiday shame you can't tell her in advance? might make her stop badgering you!

Not a bad day here, took the dd's to meet some of my friends at Starbucks this am, quick wander around the shops, and a hasty exit from Gap, as their sales person was being most annoying. He kept asking me 'would you like any help' every few minutes, just because the dd's we're running around a bit they weren't the only kids in there and we were in the kid section, so I chose to leave and not spend any cash in there instead should have gotten his name and taken it further really.
Then we went to another friends for accidental lunch, just went to drop off her dd's birthday prezzie, but ended up lunch as well they did invite us bowling, but I thought me by myself trying to control the two much younger girls was asking for trouble, so we came home and made meatball lasagne instead

Astrophe · 03/02/2008 21:15

Sounds lovely Friz We were at a 1st birthday party today - was a happy occasion except for the fact that my friend (mother of the birthday child) is having real trouble with her DH, who is seriously being a bastard atm

Yesterday the kids played in the very small amount of snow we had, and then we went South to Lichfield to return some shoes that broke (I bought them in Sept, they broke in December, didn't have the reciept but they exchanged them anyway! Hurrah!), and to look at a camper. It was PERFECT...but SOLD! Aaaargh! It was quite depressing, but helpful in terms of clarifying what we want.

Doing week 4 of 'How to drug proof your kids' course tomorrow, and bit of a clean up in the house which is a mess.

Astrophe · 03/02/2008 21:18

Oh, Uni, meant to say that no, a Bongo wouldn't suit your SIL as it sleeps 4 and seats 5 usually. They are 8 seater vans, but once converted to a camper you lose the middle row.

And whats this about stretching shoes??? And ordering made to measure ones? My you Southerers are posh! Does your lad have especially wide feet?

Astrophe · 03/02/2008 22:10

MNer here wants to know what fine motor skills nearly 2 year olds have.

Frizbe · 04/02/2008 09:28

Astro, where are you doing that course then? sounds interesting let us know more details please, I'm intrigued
Sorry to hear your mates dh is being a twonk, mines had Man Flu all weekend, has been a nightmare, in fact I think I'm getting royally annoyed with him and his lack of housework for the last 3 weeks (aided and abetted by the housework thread!) we need to have words as we obviously have differeing ideas of our level of cleanliness.....(ie he's lazy) and we're both working the same the ironing pile is now 3 weeks high (the stuff that really needs doing) and most of my clothes are now in it.......

Astrophe · 04/02/2008 12:45

Sorry about your DH too Friz Its a constant negotiation isn't it.

My mates DH (actually, just H) has been saying terrible things about her to their kids. Its boardering on emotional abuse. Really, really hard situation. She has given him an ultimatum - he has until the end of the month. So sad for her, and her little ones.

The drugs course is run at our local church for anyone in the cummunity - some mums from local sure start are there, plus assorted others. Its very good - parenting skills, drug awareness, prevention, intervention etc. They only run it once a year though. If you want I can ask them to email you when they next run one (in Normanton), or you could keep your eye out for others running it, or ask your local surestart to run it?

UniS · 04/02/2008 20:15

Not soooo posh Astro. There is shoe maker in our city, a proper one who makes shoes and boots to order with your chose of colours, sole style etc. His kids shoes are less than teh price of 2 pairs of clarks and he makes them to be stretched so this new pair will be made size 6 but with enough leather to be stretched to a 6.5 then can be made open toe sandals for size 7.
I'm happy to keep a local craftsman in work rather than shell out oddles of cash to Clarks.

Twonk Dhs, bad news, I'm repeatly gratefull for how good mine is, even if he anoys me sometimes. I dare say I annoy him sometimes in return. Hes off at Cricket practice tonight.

Frizbe · 04/02/2008 21:10

Uni, a real live shoemaker, who doesn't charge the earth, how refreshing

Astro, thanks for that info, I'll check it out with surestart up here.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/2724/471655?rnd=1202159067964 my grumble for the night.

laundrylover · 05/02/2008 09:51

Morning all,

In full work avoidance mode here! Just been catching up on the thread....handmade shoes....horrid husbands etc...

I got Kiah some shoes in TKMax on Sun - very nice too. Tilly got Playdoh Reebok trainers as her second pair. Both cheap and fit well as my girls have evry narrow feet luckily.

Astro, Kiah has some expensive french shoes that broke on the third time out. TBH I couldn't be bothered taking them back so stitched them (bloody hard work and thimble needed!!) myself. Good on you tho for returning the shoes.

I am still waiting for a letter from the hospital about my lumps....back to physio on Friday and she says that I should be able to jog next week - hurray!!!! Thinking of going away this weekend so will have a look at offers now...any suggestions? Thinking hotel with pool a couple of hours drive away...

Friz/Astro are we still on for the 17th????

Frizbe · 05/02/2008 13:01

LL there's a lovely hotel at Ravenscar just up from Scarborough with a pool, if you fancy that way, think its called Ravenscar hotel! did a wedding there a few years ago.

Erm I'm still up for 17th? Astro?

laundrylover · 05/02/2008 13:06

Thanks Friz, did look at Scarborough but we are now going for two nights to Knowsley in Suites Hotels. Going to visit safari park and have a day at museums etc in liverpool. Just want to get out of the house really!

Frizbe · 05/02/2008 15:52

Oh you lucky thing!!!! I've got a weekend at the shop, whilst DH runs an event in York...kids are with Meridian on Sat and my parents on Sunday (provided they come back from their hols as planned)

Astrophe · 05/02/2008 17:33

yes! 17th! Where? When? Afternoon would be best for me, if possible.

laundrylover · 06/02/2008 13:35

Any time is fine for me - Astro, can you make lunch or does it need to be later?

Are we bringing menfolk or not???

Can meet anywhere.....suggestions???

laundrylover · 06/02/2008 13:44

Can I get something off my chest in secret ladies?? I have been following a thread about a MNer (is she for real type thing) and out of curiousity I did a Google and the person that came up is obviously her! Anyway now I feel really guilty as I read all about her (she has her own website) and couldn't help myself!! Just wanted to offload as DP would think me mad and also realise that I am doing NO work at all this week.

Anyway, off to a meeting now....two loads of washing out on line.
