Great title.
I'm coming to the end of my feeding years and my norks are certainly not the size of Norway but they certainly resemble the shape of Norway when look at on a map.

Sorry Galmum. I've just read your bit on the thread. I didn't mean to return to flippancy. So sorry.

hi everyone! sorry i haven't been on in ages - we've finally got our internet sorted! WOOHOO! so we can stop stealing the neighbour's connection now!

am at you guys - my favourites are LTH, my due date buddy who i pipped to the post, and TR, for helping me with the housework! but you're ALL my favourites!!

things have been settling a bit here, except for this afternoon when Zac had a really whingey five hours! all he wanted to do was feed, feed, feed, then he'd sick half of it back up, which upset him, so he'd want to feed again...repeat ad nauseum (literally).....it culminated in me throwing a dummy across the room when he wouldn't take it! cue massive guilt trip about losing my rag with him.

we've started to get into a really good evening routine - i take him upstairs for a bath at 7:15 (after the Archers! ) then feed and settle him, then he's asleep by 8, feeds at about 4am, then again at 7:30 when DH gets up for work. then he comes into bed with me and we have our morning cuddles and he usually goes back to sleep till about 10 ish.

the interview went well, they said i clearly knew my stuff (which is always nice to hear and proves my brain hasn't totally turned to mush!) but i'm not sure they want a part-timer. well, we'll see.

i met up with one of the ladies from my antenatal class for a coffee today - her little girl is 2 weeks and totally adorable!! masses of blonde hair already....she looks tiny compared to Zac - he's such a chubster! i put her onto mumsnet, but i suppose she'll be on the Feb postnatal thread, even though she was due in Jan.

anyway, hope you're all well, and that things are getting easier for everyone. it's not easy being a new mum, but when they do sleep, or give those little angel smiles it's all worth while. honest.

Thinking of you Galmum. Hope you're feeling a little better today.

Wow thats a lot of sleeping Urban. Actually I'm feeling okay about Freddie's sleeping at night right now...he manages 5 hours in one stretch which I'm pretty happy with. But his sleeping in the daytime is really erratic and he's been a right little monster during the day for last few days Just wondering how long your LOs sleep for during the day??? F. used to have a couple of quite long sleeps, about 2-3 hours each, in the morning and afternoon, but just recently he's started napping for about 15-20 minutes about every hour or so and it's driving me insane cos he wants cuddling and walking around and settling in his moses basket ALL THE TIME. Thinking maybe he's not really that tired and I should try and keep him awake for a longer sleep, but then he just screams. Can't figure out whats changed!!

Blimey UD, that is good sleeping!!
OActually, You can be my favourite too, I'm still in awe of you for climbing the "Long man" when heavily PG so that alone puts you in top spot
Everyone else is joint second

This is puzzling me.....I started the dreamfeed thing this week to try and get George to sleep through but now he is drinking more but waking up more to get more IYSWIM.
Before I started it he would sleep the best between 6-7pm and midnight-1am, I started the dreamfeed, and waking him every 4hours during the day and now he never goes longer than 3.5-4hrs at night....Very wierd!
He's drinking all 5oz now too, whereas before he'd often leave a ounce or 2.

All the big DS's were difficult feeders so having a hungry, frantic, enthusastic feeder is quite a mystery to me. Bloody great though

I've got the HV coming today.....Can any of you tell me why I feel mildly irritated at the prospect of her darkening my door?? I've only met her twice and have written her off already!!

I am so knackered. Poor Ethan has a cold and is finding it hard to feed and he's stopped sleeping really. He sleeps for about an hour or 2 at the most and then wakes up. Yesterday he slept for about an hour all day long and then didn't sleep in the night until 2am, woke at 3.30 to feed and then stayed awake ages. Up at 6 with the other kids. Been like this for 3 days now and I'm exhusted. Caitlin has her birthday party tomorrow as well so I can't lie in. Really hope he sleeps better soon.

Away from baby talk, the cat brought in a mouse last night. To cut a long story short, I didn't see it so almost trod on it but it ran up the inside of my pajamas. As I was holding lo at the time I shouted at dh to take her, which he did whilst rolling aboutlaughing. I threw my pj bottoms off and out the front door (I had no knickers on - the mouse could have ended up who knows where). A day later and dh is still laughing. . Who needs cats!

Hello to everyone else and very of UD's zac,I thought we were getting towards no feed at night but last night gave Hattie bigger bottle 5oz at 10 which is a bit later than normal and then she woke at 2 hasnt woken before 3 for about a week but drank 5oz nappy change and settled on her own and slept till 7 when ellie got up and demanded to know where hattie was and when I told her asleep in her cot proceeded to get her stool from the bathroom to reach the handle climb on the side of Hatties cot and scream at approx 100decibels "hattie wake up" poor little mite looked frightened out of her skin. Think I'll go back to old routine where she as sleeping till 4

Ellen is 6 weeks tomorrow and on Monday weighed 10lb14oz - the same day I sat next to another mum at a postnatal group thinking her ds was same age as Ellen as he was a bit smaller.....he was 3 months old!! I came away thinking she is a little chubster. Oh well!

RGee, sorry but am pmsl at your cat! DH's cat brought a mouse in as a present for me once, trouble is, she's such a softie she doesn't kill them (either that, or she thinks i'll like it better fresh!) so i had to catch it and put it outside! i'm a softie too!

well we had our six week post natal check today. the GP asked me about contraception and when i sheepishly confessed i didn't have any she said, "well, you're clearly an idiot!" she's right......just hoping i'm not pregnant again already, that'd really suck, although DH would love a little girl! the GP's very happy with Zac's progress, especially his alertness and strength. think i made her a bit broody! she was very dismissive of the HV which i was quite pleased about

LadyTophamHatt · 23/02/2007 19:46

UD........what, no contraceptives at all??
oooooh you brave brave girl!

It's condoms for us, we've used them for yrs now but now we'll be using them properly

I have to say, although its possibly TMI but it's quite a refief to know the ole' fandango is still in working order after such a beating during the birth

well, i am bf-ing, which is 98% effective, as opposed to the pill which is 99.9%!

just doing night feed here - i'm seriously considering lamping dh...every time zac nods off he starts snoring really loudly so he wakes up!!

Report
LadyTophamHatt · 24/02/2007 06:49

Aha..I didn't know BFing was 98% effective as going by MN there has been alot of baby born when mum is exclusivly BFing.
I thought it was alot less than that....

My vote goes for UD to have the next baby

my dr suggested that BF was effective enough also, and that I didnt HAVE to take anything else unless I really wanted to.
Er, yes! No quite ready to repeat the last 9 months again! x

I'm not doubting you UD....My only knowledge of it is from here reading threads about falling PG while BFing.
