Thanks Jodie. Think I'll try and extra big bottle this evening, just to see what happens. Hes never yet refused milk! Sorry to hear of your problems Katie. In my (very limited 6 wks) experience I'd definitely recommend, as Lizz says, going in the car or pram for silencing the screaming. My LO also enjoys a bit of time on his tummy now and again and having his back rubbed, seems to work vey well at dislodging wind!
Lizz I think my DP bonded the most with LO when I just left them alone together. I think I fuss over them too much when the 3 of us are together and tend to take over everything so DP can feel a bit inhibited. So Id say get out, go shopping for an hour or something and leave them to bond on their own.

Not even going to talk about weight gain and eating too much chocolate... its just too depressing

Had a search into cranial osteopathy on t'internet and it says that babies who's heads were distorted during birth can have problems with crankiness. I had an epidural and Jacob was left to come down the birth canal on his own for 2 hours before I could push. His head was VERY egg shaped for about 5 days...might look into it if no better by the weekend.

KR - have read your thread and left message. Big hugs.

Shimmer - agree with Jodie about trying bigger bottle at last feed of evening. My HV suggested this too along with the first feed of the day being a big one too.

Lizz - definately leave LO with DP and go out for an hour. I would just try and hour first time then increase it until they have a few hours alone together. You can always have your mobile with you in case he has any probs.

xx

Hurray for Colief - Ben slept through for the first time last night after his first bottle with it :O:O:O:O

Made up his first bottles with colief in at 6:30pm so couldn't use them until 10:30pm at the earliest (have to leave them for at least 4 hours in the fridge to give the colief time to work) so it was 11:15pm before he had his first one....he settled much quicker than he does normally, I was in bed before midnight...and that was it until 6:30am

It might be a coincidence but I hope not as he's a happy baby and I'm a happy mummy!

So for anyone else struggling with wind/colic etc I would highly recommend it. It's a bit of a faff having to make the bottles up in advance - what I did was make 2 up to begin with and each time he has a feed, while I'm waiting for his bottle to warm up I get another bottle ready, so there's always 2 in the fridge, 1 ready and 1 getting ready IYSWIM.

Hello to everyone, sorry for no personals but we're having the house valued this morning ready for the remortgage so I've got beds to make etc

Loubie & Ben xx
6 weeks on Thursday

JodieG1 · 20/02/2007 08:26

Liz - maybe he could try using a sling and taking baby for a walk or even just around the house? Most babies love being in a sling and it can be easier carrying a heavy baby around in one than in your arms! Ethan loves being carried by dh and always goes to sleep on him lol. Giving feeds, bathing baby, just spending time talking to them etc will all help with dad's bonding.

Shimmer- hope the extra milk did something! How did last night go?

Wilkie - I've heard very good things about cranial osteopathy, I would give it a go I thought Ethan needed it.

Did anyone see the news this morning about the most premature baby to ever survive? It was in America and the baby was born at 22 weeks! Tiny little thing.

I am so tired this morning, Ethan decided to wake up just when I went to bed at 10pm and didn't go to sleep until gone 1am, then he slept until 3am when he wanted more milk. Back to sleep about 4am and then woke again from 5am to feed until about 7am. Other kids were up at 6am. Typical that he's now sleeping and has been since 7.30am. He always seems to sleep in the mornings, shame that I can't join him hehe.

It's dd's 5th birthday on Monday and we're having the party on Saturday so have to wait for deliveries of presents today and then get wrapping.

Lizzzombie · 20/02/2007 10:23

i am soooooooo knackerd. LO had feed at 10.30 last night, slept until 2am, & has been awake ever since!
I have appt with specialist this afternoon to check episiotomy stitches etc, have no idea how i will get there on time, feel like i've been on the biggest all nighter ever. i need to sleep! i look like shit too. not happy.

RGee · 20/02/2007 10:27

Shimmer - many many thanks for your post. It made me much happier knowing I was not alone! Am still breast and bottle feeding - lo is MUCH happier (as is mum), but I know it will only be a matter of a week or so before I make the full switch to bottle. Am trying hard not to feel guilty as we both have been chirpier since formula was cracked open. She gets weighed tomorrow and I'm sure she's put on shed loads

Loubie - sleep through the night!!

Jodie - I daren't switch on the news now. If they show a picture of the 22-week prem baby, I'll probably start blubbing!!

RGee · 20/02/2007 10:28

Lizz - hope lo sleeps this morning so you can manage to catch a few zzzz before this afternoon. Good luck with the appointment.

LadyTophamHatt · 20/02/2007 10:32

Wilkie, One of the friends I have who has used the cranial man had a super qiuck labour and delievry(2 hours from start to finish), She just taken her 10 month old to him, after months of fretful, clingyness and sleepless nights and within a week she said it like having a differnt child.

Her little ones sinuses were still congressed and bunged up fron birth and causing her pain, he did his magic and the problem was solved.

TBH, i don't think you can always see a differnce in head shape if the cranial man could help.

I hope you decide to see him

(sorry I feel lke I'm nagging a bit now)

ellieandhattie · 20/02/2007 12:02

just been to clinic and lady i was sitting next to got chatting and her lo is 12 weeks and she started cranial osteopathy 2 weeks ago as her lo crying and restless etc she has a long delivery and her lo got stuck in birth canal so had to have forceps and vontouse and she swears he is a changed baby after 2 weeks so another positive story am very pissed off though because actually mad the effort to go to clinic to find that because hattie has her 6 week check on thursday (week late) there was no need to weigh her today what a waste of time

wilkie50 · 20/02/2007 13:43

DON'T FORGET IT'S PANCAKE DAY TODAY How do you eat yours??

Vanilla ice cream and raspberries for me

Lizz - let me guess, Dairy Milk in yours??

laughalot · 20/02/2007 13:57

Wilkie little lauren is hard to please in the daytime but iv found giving her cooled boiled water between feeds has helped as well as using either gripe water or infacol before bedtime feed, when I have to wind lauren it takes ages but I find spending that bit longer winding her on the last feed helps her sleep longer she is 6 weeks on sunday.

laughalot · 20/02/2007 13:58

RGee · 20/02/2007 20:45

Galmum - my traditional pancake day celebrations with my mates has been postponed to tomorrow (due to a football match would you believe). Why don't you postpone yours - Shrove Wednesday???

JodieG1 · 20/02/2007 21:16

My dh is watching the football now, Arsenal game while I'm on the laptop. Ethan is sleeping no doubt to wake again when I want to go to bed and spend 4 hours awake, sigh. I don't have the heart to wake him though, he looks like a little angel.

SURVEY SURVEY SURVEY

RIGHT GIRLS TIME TO CHEER ONE ANOTHER UP A LITTLE BIT !!!!

I think we should just do a litle surey about our thread you need to pick a person could be more than one who has been a good friend to you or who has helped you out during pg, no rules just remember only people on our thread else we wont know who the bloody hell we are on about !

Right my first is

GALMUM: Havent really had in depth conversations with you however you have made me realise not to get my hair of so much with my ds you have shown so much courage and strength to share your ds with us and it has made me realise we are very lucky so thankyou.

ELLIEANDHTTIE: Again not had in depth conversations but having a ds the same age as ellie has made me realise he is just a normal boy doing the terrible 2s thing as I know he operates the same as ellie . You seem like a similar person to me and I enjoy your posts

LTH: Purley and simply respect for 4 kids I could do it

2Happy · 21/02/2007 00:48

ellieandhattie · 21/02/2007 08:04

Right my go

Laughalot just retype your post and reverse it nice to know someones2 year old is a nightmare at times like Ellie especially when heavily preganant or throwing her newborn sister around but on the whole that cute 2 yr old behaviour is very endearing (sp)

LTH - rants about dh can sympathise completley and 4 boys under 7 WOW!!!

Dragonhart my c section buddy and Ruth gaining as much weight as Hattie so don't feel bad when she hasn't put on pounds and HV makes me feel crap (not that I really listen to her)and someone else who said def no more babies!!!

Wilkie - nice to know there are a few of us bottle feeding and sticking the babies in their rooms before the 6 month thing

But saying that UD's mil rants make me smile, 2happys ever lasting pg nd finally joining us here was memorable, TR insisitence at sticking with us despite being due in feb and Galmums honesty and courage made me appreciate dd1 more than ever even when she is throwing the most horrible 2 yr old tantrum awwww I love everyone on the Jan thread

ellieandhattie · 21/02/2007 08:17

has anyone seen Urban around lately can't remember her psoting recently?
