ChaCha · 14/03/2007 21:56

What a load of waffle....geesh!

ChaCha · 14/03/2007 21:57

Just in case you didn't get it the first time!

novadandypowder · 15/03/2007 09:09

Diege - noo is more like a slippery eel if she doesn't want to go in the buggy .

I have been enjoying my time with noo at the moment, she's been a real pleasure to be around (99% of the time ).

Chacha - I could moan my butt off at the mo, but thought I'd spare you all. Actually beginning to get quite scared at the prospect of giving birth again.

GreedyGecko · 15/03/2007 12:39

anyone else have a cling-on?

Beksmum · 15/03/2007 16:12

Hi ya

GG yep T's a cling-on, he gets himself really worked up if he sees me leave the room, I can get a couple of minutes if he doesn't see me go but it doesn't last long.

Nova Noo sounds lovely, T does the wriggly arms, eel like thing when he's having a tantrum.

Girls i'm on to let you know I'm going AWOL, i'm not going to be around for a while as probably off to Wales and Bournemouth for most of next week and probably the week after as we have had yet more bad news, dh's aunt is in a coma in spain after a nasty fall. Sadly it looks like I won't be putting the black ties away just yet as they are not hopeful for her recovery.

Sorry to bring the thread down with yet more sadness from here, but I didn't want you to think I'd just left the thread without saying anything.

Love to all, keep safe and I'll look forward to catching up when I get back Beks

Beksmum · 15/03/2007 16:14

Nova hopefully I'll get a chance to log on while I'm away but if I don't and bump puts in an appearance, I hope everything goes well with the birth, wishing you a speedy & safe delivery and whatever the flavour a beautiful, happy, serene baby.

Can someone please text me and let me know the news as & when it happens. Beks

Rodeo · 15/03/2007 20:53

Oh Beks You poor girl. Of course we will let you know, GG & Chacha have your number don't they? If not I know it's on Yahoo
LOL at slippery eels and planks of wood! Slippery eel here too - I'll get Jess in the seat, then when I try to put straps over shoulders she propels her bottom forwards and slips down, freeing her arms from straps!
GG hope your cling-on isn't getting you down, Jess does have cling periods esp. when tired. She has a v. annoying habit when I'm cooking, of wedging herself between me and the cooker and pushing on my legs to be picked up! She's also a trouser hanger (gripping on to the trousers at the back of my knees) which is a toddler pet hate of mine! Sounding v. grumpy aren't I?!
Have to say she is pretty good at the moment, her 5th tooth is now through and she's back to her happy self. Her hair is getting curlier and she gets quite a few compliments on them!
Chacha - you sound fine! Good call on going to bed while all's good! I find I'm better at getting housework done before midday, then just a topping up til teatime, quick blast again before the childrens bath and bed, but after that can't seem to muster the energy to do a thing - it has to wait til the morning again!
Diege, hope things are looking brighter Did DH enjoy his birthday pizza? Before I forget, my SIL works on the maternity suite at our hospital and, although not a MW herself, knows loads, I'm sure she could get a few done for you if that's any good?
L&S, could do the morning of the 19th? What time did tyou want to be in town for? Would be nice to meet up
Right better get off, want to watch the end of 10 Years Younger! Night x

Can I just say! OMG! Anyone else watch 10YY? She looks amazing!!!

Londoner · 15/03/2007 21:06

Hiya,

Been enjoying this weather, wow it's soooo lovely... do you really think it's going to snow next week?
E is now coming and telling me when she has a full nappy! Can't belive it, think I'll wait til it's a bit warmer though to introduce the potty.
Nova, lovely to hear you and Noo enjoying eachother's company so much, such a special time for you both.
Hi twinkle and Happy Birthday to Holly!.
Hi L&S, hope your brother comes through with the mending soon, do let us know how S gets on in Baby of the Year comp.
Hi ChaCha, really enjoying all your posts, you are doing so amazingly and sound like one chilled out mother. It's difficult with the post natal weight thing isn't it, we're so keen to get 'back to normal' but as Diege pointed out you have just had Y and your body is quite naturally holding extra weight still. Think your dh was probably trying to be supportive but when you're trying to come to terms with your own post natal look it doesn't really matter what dh says it would make you growl? Or maybe that's just me? For the record my body doesn't settle back to 'normal' until after 1st year.- and you're recovering from 2 in quick succession too.
Beks, lovely to hear about your neighbour coming for tea, but so so sorry to hear your latest sad news, poor you. {{{{{{{sending you hugs and strength}}}}}}}}}}}}}. Btw, love the tenna joke!
Hi GG and good luck with the new job. I hope your reconciliation with your neice goes well. It must be really hard to keep secrets within your own family, poor you, hope it sorts itself out one day.
Diege, so sorry to hear you've been feeling down, am not suprised tbh what with all that's been going on at work and then S's eye. Hope you move onwards and upwards from here and great to hear you enjoyed your meal out with dh.
Hi Rodeo, J's b.day sounds a success esp with your dad popping round aswell, well done you! Lol at J with full set of Power Rangers, erm, great? Awww, at Jessie's cute curls.
Night.

GreedyGecko · 15/03/2007 21:35

Oh Beks. ((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))) for you & your family.

Rodeo · 15/03/2007 21:41

What?! Snow?!! NOOOOOO!!!!
Aw at clever E, Londoner! Jess loves piddling on the carpet
Just think, this time next year some of us will be stressing over potty training, some of us will have smugly breezed through it, and for some of us the idea of PT won't have entered our heads (probably me!) (Not that any of us ladies are stressheads of course! Or smug!)

Hello girls I know I said I was going AWOL but I have a very important message to deliver with the kind permission of a very proud lady!!!

Nova has asked me to tell you all that she and her dh became the proud new parents of a baby Boy at just before midday today. They have named him Gene and he weighs an impressive 8lbs 4oz and put in a very speedy arrival. Both mum and baby are doing well.

Nova hopes to be home tomorrow and I am sure she will fill in all the details, but her texts have made me lol.

Congratulations to the whole Nova family and we can't wait to see pictures. Love and best wishes Beks

feetheart · 16/03/2007 15:43

WELL DONE NOVA

Fantastic news, great weight (both of mine were 8lb4oz!) and a truely wondeful name. Well done to all of you.

feetheart · 16/03/2007 15:45

Any Ian Dury fans out there? I have a certain song in my head now and am feeling rather nostalgic!!

Tex111 · 16/03/2007 17:38

Congrats Nova!! Can't wait to hear all the details.

Haven't managed to catch up on the thread but Beks texted me the new. Hope you're all well!

Londoner · 16/03/2007 18:34

WOW! Congratulations Nova, Mr.Nova, Noo, & welcome to Gene!

What a lovely suprise.
Hi everyone else and hope you all have great weekends!

Diege · 16/03/2007 20:38

Excellent news NOVA, many congratualtions!!! We want to hear ALL the details when you are fit! Love the name too, very sweet. BEKS:you certainly have a lot on your plate at the moment; hopefully the break may help a little? Thinking of you . RODEO: lol at the 10 years younger ref ; you know I do actually watch it, but missed the last one; think the presenter Nicky whatshername is a bit full of herself, and doesn;t seem very warm, but it is a strangely addictive programme! I always get a thrill about saying things to dh like 'can you believe she's only 2 years older than me, can you,can you???!!, until I get a suitable response! Oh and yes please about the questionnaire for the midwifes??? That would be BRILLIANT!!!It'll probably be easiest for me to pop a few copies in the post (I'll include pre-paid envelopes for them to return individually - oh and feel free to fill a few in yourself ). Hi LONDONER!: great to hear your news as always ; wow, potty training, yikes! I;ll definitely be one of the last I think!
Hi GG! Never had cling-ons here! Think it actually might relate in our case to starting nursery so early with them - either that, or they're pleased to see the back of me . I think I'd be flattered to have L go through a clingy stage, but can imagine it's not so great in reality! HI FH!!! Sorry, my Ian Dury knowledge is limited ; enlighten us all?
Right, second part of celeb Apprentice for me ; oh the life...
Good weekends to all!

GreedyGecko · 16/03/2007 22:10

Congratulations Nova, Mr Nova & Noo Welcome Gene

Just in from work ( can't believe I'm saying that word!), there's so many people still there, feels like I never left & it's been 3 years. Just got to think about my house being done up with all those tips!

Diege, on the subject of your age , I keep forgetting to tell you this. Dp said after we saw you that he felt really old until you mentioned your age and he was . He thought you were a lot younger.

Rodeo · 16/03/2007 22:10

YAY! Congratulations Nova, Mr Nova & Noo! Well done woman! Great name Really pleased you've got a blue one
Diege, LOL at Nicky Hambleton(?)-Smith, where is she from?! Her accent is amazing, is it South Africa? She does seem really sneery, KWYM, though I'm always shouting 'OMG! How old?!!' at the screen No probs with the questionnaires
Right, I'm going to have a bath, slap on some holiday skin and get an early(ish) night, out on the town tomorrow with friends, yippee! Bye x

Diege - Ian Dury 'Sweet Gene Vincent' One of my favourite songs from MANY years ago

Karmamother · 17/03/2007 14:43

Hi all, Just popped in quickly to say hello after a long absence. We've been without an internet connection since last July & lots appears to have happened! Good to see that the old faithfuls are still around. Haven't read through the thread yet but I shall try & catch up tonight. Congrats to nova on Gene's arrival. Hello to Beksmum, Rodeo, Diege, Cha-cha, nova & everyone else I've forgotten. How I've missed you all.

Ella update.... 16 months, still BFing, 16 teeth, very litle hair, running & climbing everywhere, sleeps through the night at last, can say hiya, mumma, dadda & that. She can use 6 baby signs which makes me a very proud mummy!

Well enough of the boasting. I shall scan this thread & see what I've been missing.

Bye for now.

ChaCha · 17/03/2007 15:09

Nova So happy to read the good news, congratulations girl and love the name!!

See you all later when hopefully i have a minutes peace!

feetheart · 17/03/2007 17:11

Hello Karma, welcome back (I was Tessasmum by the way )

Londoner · 18/03/2007 10:06

Hiya!

HAPPY MOTHERS' DAY TO US ALL!

novadandypowder · 18/03/2007 10:08

Right - noo is asleep, gene is happy in his bouncy chair, I'm showered and dressed (with the top button done up on my jeans ), so here goes...

Had ante-natal check on thursday and everything was fine, they said they would do a sweep the following week if nothing had happened.

Friday morning at about 6ish I had a period pain like cramp and wondered if it was a contraction. Got up to prepare noo's breakfast and felt a few more, so at about 7.15 I went in to wake DH up to see if he could get noo up and ready for nursery as I wasn't sure what was going on. Within half an hour I was pretty sure I was in labour, so I called the hospital while DH took noo to nursery and they told me to have a bath and call them after that as I was still able to cope with the contractions.

DH came back while I was in the bath and I started crying because I decided I didn't want to go through labour again (lol!). When I got out the bath the contractions were getting really strong so I just about managed to get dressed and in the car for DH to drive us to the hospital. It has to have been the worst car ride of my life! Thank god we have tinted windows in the back as I was crawling all around the back of the car trying to get comfortable, which was of course impossible. I thankfully had the foresight to take a plastic container with me as I also ended up being sick in the car. There was a lot of swearing and seat clawing going on and DH is sure some people though he had a kidnap victim in the car.

Thankfully we didn't hit too much traffic as we were travelling in rush hour. Managed to get out of the car at the front entrance of the hospital, crying, then has to kneel over one of the chairs in reception as a contraction hit me. They couldn't find a wheelchair, but they managed to clear a lift and take me straight up. Had to kneel over another chair when I got out of the lift and then had to get lifted into the delivery room.

I was a walking cliche, I'm to say the following did leave my lips: 'Make it go away', 'I want an epidural', 'I don't care, just get it in now!', 'I can't do it', 'It hurts'.

The epidural worked for about an hour but then it must have slipped a bit because the top ups didn't work. I got to the hospital at about 9ish and was 6cms, by 11.15 I was fully dilated and they broke my waters, and Gene was born at 11.49. I couldn't believe it had all happened so quick. The arrival was very emotional and very different to noo's. No placenta probs this time, and no tears

We were left alone to do quite a bit of bonding this time, although DH went to pick up noo from nursery so that she wasn't too freaked out by being kept there all day. My dads DP came up to look after noo and will be here with us for a few more days to help us out, which is working well as noo is still getting all the attention she needs.

Managed to get a bath and get dressed before going to my room, which was great. However, I must say the after care was non-existant, so much so that we're thinking of writing a letter of complaint. I made it clear that we wanted to go home as soon as possible, DH went home on friday night and brought noo back with him on saturday morning so that she could meet Gene and we could all go home together. Got home by lunchtime yesterday and made DH buy pate and brie for lunch .

Didn't get much sleep last night again due to afterpains, and the fact I have a cold. Feeling a bit more alive today though .

I'm sure more details will come to me, but I think thats enough to be getting on with for now! Will post pics soon, as will pose for some more today now I'm feeling a bit more human.
