Hello and Happy Mothers Day to us all!!

Also - Congratulations to the Nova Family on the safe arrival of Gene. You must be thrilled.

Beks - oh babe you poor thing, thoughts and hugs for you as always.....

Haven't been around much over the last few days - went to my friends wedding yesterday, and stayed over int he swanky hotel (very nice!) Had far too much to drink and was throwing myself all over the dancefloor till the witching hour!
Have also been out most nights this last week what with one thing and another!

Anyway, am going to have to cut this one a little short as have got a house full for lunch, and fancy a 5 minute sit down and peace and quiet with DH before they all arrive!

Hi to GG, Chacha, Diege, Rodeo Londoner, FH Karma (welcome back!) and to all others I have missed, but not forgotten.

Brownie
xx

ChaCha · 18/03/2007 19:44

Lovely to read your news Nova, glad to hear that all is well and I look forward to next update and some pics. Hope you're all getting some rest and that Noo is well and happy. Keep us posted!

BB - Sounds like a good weekend was had!

Rodeo - How was your night out? Hope you had a good time.

Best get on with online shop, talk later x

BrownieBells · 18/03/2007 21:19

Hello again - Hope you are all enjoying your Mother's day...and being supremely spoiled and waited on hand and foot!?

Right - not sure anyone will read this in time, but...I have decided to have a drastic haircut - it is happening tomorrow, but I have no clue about what to have done!? DH keeps saying that I should be looking thorugh some mags to choose, but I don't have any! Am thinking it may be time for a change... perhpas a fringe? and considerably shorter? Oh gosh, I don't know!

Think I might go to bed know, and have a read and think about it!

Night all!!

novadandypowder · 18/03/2007 21:50

BB - just don't do a Britney!

Diege · 18/03/2007 22:12

Evening! Really good to hear your birth story NOVA! - sounds like a wonderful birth and yes can't wait to see some pictures! Sounded like a picture of domestic bliss with little Gene resting in his chair - a very special Mother's Day for you! BROWNIE: !!!As NOVA says, just don't do a Britney ; hmmm, let me think..OK, getting a bit cliched, but how about one of those POBS?? (Posh's bob); pretty flattering on most face shapes, plus your hairdresser could graduate it according to how short you wanted to go...as I'm writing this I'm getting a sense of hair-advice deja-vue ; have I advised you on highlights before? (caramel-honey slices???) - they would look fab with the Pob btw and your very pretty face . Go on, have the works!!!
RODEO: I'll be putting together the questionnaire tommorrow at work, and just wondering how many to send out? (I'll be putting SAEs in with them, as I thought this might encourage people to send them back independently rather than your poor sister having to gather them all back in!). I'm sooo grateful for this, though I'm being realistic as I know what a poor response rate quesionnaires have. Hoping you've had a good weekend, and relaxing mother's day nursing a HUGE hangover (I see you're a Johnson's skin addict too! I tried the darker one recently instead of the usual 'fair' - what a disaster!!!).
CHACHA: I may come across as mad here, but when you say on-line shop, do you mean shoppING yourself, or an on-line shop that you sell things in? Just curious, as I'm thinking of setting one up myself soon and was hoping for some advice ; just ignore if I am coming across as crazy, lol!
Hi to all the rest of you!! ; hope everyone had lots and lots of pampering - I had a nice breakfast in bed, and home-made cards, and a nice party for my dad, dh, and puppy Megan . DDs were delighted to come home to snow (urghh!!!), though I really hope it's gone by the morning!
I have a bit of a stressful one tommorrow, with more 'consultation' over the redundancies (a 'write your own jobs' thing!)btw thanks to Feetheart I think for offer of HR help - I may well need it, though I have my feelers out for a few other vacancies that are on offer elsewhere...
Right, I'll stop boring you all now, if you're still reading!
Diege x

LaylaandSethsmum · 18/03/2007 22:24

Hi

Finally back on line today can't believe how much has gone on

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE NOVA FAMILY
Everything sounds hunky dory , love the name Gene absolutely fab!!!( Have to admit am a big Life On Mars fan!!)
I had convinced myself you'd have another girl !!

Mothers Day has been a bit mad spent the day at my mums all the in laws came over but it was nice though, was a bit upset with DH as the card he bought me can only be described as shit, its one a 40 yr old bachelor who still lives with his mum would get!! It has " To our very special mother " on the front, I got upset and asked when did my kids start calling me mother instead of mamma or mummy!! Have got over it now though

GreedyGecko · 19/03/2007 09:42

Hi all, hope you enjoyed yuor days yesterday. Work was busy, but not manically so, really does feel like I've never been away now though.

Nova, really great to hear Gene's birth story. Look forward to seeing pics.

GreedyGecko · 19/03/2007 09:59

Has anyone else's LOs teeth come through in a really strange order? Seans front ones came through quite randomly, and now he has 4 at the top, 3 at the bottom & I noticed today that two of his 'double' ( don't know their proper name) teeth are coming through at the top, but not the ones in between or the other 'front bottom' one.

feetheart · 19/03/2007 10:55

Diege - it was BEKS with the HR offer not me though I can write a mean stroppy letter if required

GG - you are describing A's teeth! He has 4 on top, 3 at the bottom (and has had for MONTHS!) He also has 3 molars, one on each side except the bottom right I think (don't get to look very often!) No sign of any more though he was as grumpy as hell this morning which is very unlike him.

Nova - lovely to hear your birth-story and agree that the scene you were describing as you wrote it sounds blissful, long may it continue.
Bet that pate and Brie was devine?
Shame on the hospital for the aftercare, I think a letter of complaint would be well worth sending (see above )

Not sure if I'm or not of all of those having late boozy nights. I'm really not sure if I can do it any more - my definition of a good night at the moment is getting to bed before 10am and A sleeping through till after 6am

Mother's Day here involved breakfast in bed for 4 followed by stripping off the bed and washing everything!! Croissants, blackcurrant jam and small boys in bed at the same time don't work.
I did get some Hotel Chocolat choccies though as DH and T had sneaked off to St Albans on Saturday and raided the shop

SiL picking T up from pre-school today so just A and I till after 3pm - practice for me for big school in Sept
Off to clean the oven whilst all is quiet - humph!!

BrownieBells · 19/03/2007 10:56

Yes GG - T has 4 front top, but only 3 front bottom (teeth before the ooer's arrive! perhpas just my mind there!! ) He also has at least 4 molars(double teeth?) one on each side - and no idea about the rest, as I am darned if I'm putting my fingers int here - he bites - hard! He has also now found that he can grind them - aagghh I hate that noise, so am trying to put a stop to that one!

Nova - defintely not! WOuld probably find Ihave an egg shaped head or some other strange thing going on!?

Diege - yes, I do believe you have advised me on hair dos before! and I did have highlights before. this time is more of just a cut though - no idea what a pob is tho! Cos my hair is not straight, nor fine (ie is v.v.v. thick and wavy/curly) I have to think what it would do if I don't spend ages titivating it! Will speak to the haridresser - she will be here in about an hour!! hoorah!

Hope the work situation sorts itself out Diege - like I said, you can always come and be a trainer/ consultant down here with me.....go on, you know you want to!!

Our dept is also about to have a restructure - no idea what I'll be doing - but attitude now is such that, as long as I still have a job to do, and they still pay me - I frankly don't really give a damn! There are far more important things to worry about, and people far worse off than me....However, I know a lot of my colleagues who are stressing about it, so everyone is different and if I was in danger of being made redundant, then it owuld be a different story (esp as I earn more than dh, and am only part time....)

Right - off to trawl and see if I can get some hair inspiration!

Hello [waves] to all not mentioned,

Brownie
xx

Londoner · 19/03/2007 15:02

Oh, good grief it's snowing!

Karmamother · 19/03/2007 17:26

Hi all. Well I've tried to catch up with this thread but its too long. As far as I can tell, chacha had her 2nd DS a month ago, nova had Gene last week & poor beksmum has had a run of bad luck recently. Has anything else major happened whilst I've been away? (apart from not being able to talk about you know who )

GG - about teeth, DD has 14 teeth with no.15 coming through. Mind you, she has an embarrassing lack of hair. Oh well, you can't have everything, can you?

Londoner Hello again! It's snowing here too. Would love to be able to show Ella some proper snow but its not really lying.

Brownie did you used to be browniechick? Good luck with the hair. I get like that sometimes....I suddenly get the urge to get a new hairstyle & won't rest till its done. Any nice styles in the magazines?

Feetheart Hello again. I've just discovered Hotel Chocolat & boy, does it look good!! I'm hoping for one of their Easter Eggs this year, I've started dropping hints! A bit pricey at £17 but you do get a lot of choccy, don't you?

Laylaandsethsmum Hi, I totally know what you mean about getting crappy cards. Its worse than not getting one in the first place. I remember when I got divorced from ex & my SIL suddenly started sending me crappy Christmas cards instead of the usual nice ones. I knew I was persona non grata from then on. Never mind, once you start getting handmade ones from your LOs it makes up for the useless efforts your DH/DPs buy you!! I don't think men get the whole "card thing" like we do.

Congrats to Nova & chacha on their new arrivals. When I'm chasing around after E I occasionally stop & thank my lucky stars I don't have a brand new baby too, although I'm sure its pretty fab. You girls must be exhausted! Is the BF still going well, Chacha?

Got a question for you all. I'm interested to know how many words your LOs are using. Proper recognisable words. Ella "talks" a lot but its gibberish mainly. She does point & say "that" but I think she should be trying to copy some words by now. Would love to hear what you all think.

Finally, why are "forbidden" non-toy items much more appealing than bright colourful educational toys to a toddler????

GreedyGecko · 19/03/2007 19:58

Hi Karma, welcome back!

Thanks for the teeth answers (so they're called molars).

WE HAVE SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!Well, it was snowing for a few minutes, it settled a little, then it changed to sleet, and now its melted! But hey, that's the 1st snow down here since my 18th birthday.

Karma, there was some big news that you missed. Babyonboard, had a surprise arrival in November, a little girl called Sophie. There are some photos on Yahoo.

Sean says 'nyeh' (Yes), 'nnya' (Ta), 'ccccckkkkkk' (Cup), and the best 'Uh-Oh'. 'Uh-Oh' is the only recognisable one to people other than DP & I. Owen didn't start saying recognisable words until he was 2 and he doesn't stop now! And yes, I often wonder why we spend money on shiny toys when raiding a skip would more appreciated.

Brownie, how's your hair?

BrownieBells · 19/03/2007 20:37

Hello All

Karma - yes I was Browniechick - can't remember why the change, but you can call me Brownie or BB or Browniechick or just "oi you"!

Well - my hair - has gone!!!
Not sure if it is a pob Diege, but it is sort of a graduated bob-type thing - short at the back - length around the nape of my neck - and longer at the front, with some sort of sidey fringe thing. Sounds awful now I've written it down! but it's not that bad honest! The aim is that if I leave it and do nothing it looks ok, and if I make an effort and straighten it etc, it should look fab! I now have a hairstyle!! Rather than the wild and unruly mass of curls I had before!!!

We've had snow, hail, rain, sun, wind - the works today....hope it clears off soon - we're going on another walk on Wednesday - 7 miles.....not too good if it snows again!

Right, off to try and find my Daddy and his brother a birthday pressie! (not too stressful, only needed for Thursday this week!!!!)

Evening!
Hope everyone enjoyed their Mother's Days
I was really ill, had a sickness bug or food poisoning or something, threw up all of yesterday, couldn't even hold down water, although didn't get much sympathy from dp who suspected it was a hangover but I know it wasn't!
Welcome back Karma!! Lovely to hear your updates We have a few recognisable words, not many, though if you ask my MIL, when she's with her she can say allsorts -'yes', 'no', 'sausage', 'bread', 'nappy', 'beaker', 'my wonderful grandma' etc!
GG - Jess still only has 4 and a bit teeth, so no good asking me!
L&S - PMSL at 'shit card' Haha, know exactly what you mean! We have a cut price shop across the road, cards are only 25p and my SIL always gets me the awful-est one, and not even as a joke! Sorry about today, have been recouperating, how were the photos?
Nova - Your Sunday morning sounded like domestic bliss Can't believe you only gave birth 2 days prior! Birth story sounded lovely, why was it so different to Noo's? You brought tears to my eyes when you started crying in the bath! Aww And I very impressed with your vomit container! Looking forward to pics too.
Diege, send how many you think, I'm sure she can just give them out in the staff room. PS. it's not actually Holiday Skin, mine's Garnier Summer Body! My sister's tried them all and advised me SB is the best!
Brownie, how did the hair cut go? I love posh's new hair ATM, but I'm not brave enough for one thing and not decisive enough either! I'm sure yuo look lovely We should think about arranging our camping trip soon!
Weather has been so strange today, we've had sun, wind, rain, snow and sun again, was lunging the horse in the school when it started to snow, she was not impressed and started flybucking around me Bloody nutcase. Right off to watch America's Next Top Model, anyone else a fan? Night x

Ooh glad your haircut went well Brownie! Pics please! Where are you off on Weds? Have you got the week off work?

OP posts:
Diege · 19/03/2007 22:30

Evening! Good to hear your news KARMA!and good to have you back . RODEO: Poor you with food poisoning bug , and there I was joking about hangover too - must try the Garnier tanner, as holiday sun is always hit or miss with me . Oh and I've sent off the questionnaires tonight to you (just 4 in the end, as ran out of stamps for SAEs , but am only after a small-ish sample as it's just a pilot study, and along with the ones I have from my sister's work, I should have enough. TWINKLE: your's is in the post too! Thanks guys!!
BROWNIE: hair sounds FAB, and yes, you have a POB you trendsetter you! Some piccies plese . Hi GG!! On the teeth front, Libby has 4 at the top, two at bottom. Words are virtually non-existent ( a 3rd baby thing I think! Has everything done for her by dds, so no need to communicate!)Lots of chattering, but only 'dada','mama', 'nana' and 'uh-oh . LONDONER: no, not snow in London!! How will all you Southerners cope? . Are the buses still running? .It's stopped up here, but soooo cold...just as we were starting to get the Spring clothes down from the loft too; won't be needing my holiday sun just yet! Oh and thanks FEETHEART for putting me right about HR advice - I must associate you in my mind with good, sensible advice!
Right, bed!

Karmamother · 19/03/2007 22:56

Rodeo - I'm a huge fan of America's Next Top Model. Very low-brow & trashy but I love it. Isn't Tyra looking a bit er, chunky? And isn't Nigel (Noted fashion photographer) Barker rather dreamy?

Did anyone watch the programme "Ten kids & counting" tonight? OMG! Apparently, the woman who was widowed had an older daughter who has posted on MN stating her mum was no good!! It's amazing how the documentary makers can give you a skewed view.

twinkle1 · 20/03/2007 09:59

morning all,
Congrats): nova and family
A big hi to Karma missed you!!!
Diege when are we meeting up????
Busy weekend i went to london with my mum for her 65th b'day. We went to see La Bohme, it was fab Then up north for mothers day.Josh has been in and out of hosp since then!!! A update on Josh, He has 5 teeth, eats anything (including the crunchy bits from the rabbitt food!!) he climbs like mad, and loves running after big brother & Sister. He says mum, dad dad, nana, am (sam),hiya, bye bye and a few others. He is just so into everything!!!!i had forgotten just how fast ans dangerous they can be at this ageHe loves the bath and swimming and shouting at our chickens

Twinkle & Josh

twinkle1 · 20/03/2007 10:01

Karma,
yep i watched ten kids and counting!!!
Arghhhh i would be fit to take away
twinkle

Rodeo · 20/03/2007 13:02

Morning!
Karma, yes Tara has put on weight, think she's quite open about it (though a bit touchy ), she had a bit of a rant about the media going on about it not long ago! And yes, Nigel is gorgeous!! Oh and I saw bits of the 10 kids programme! And the MN threads! Nearly posted on one as the widow lives round here and her story has been in the local paper! Her daughter was very scathing of her though, but it's her word against her mothers, I'll sit on the fence on that one, slagging off your mother on the internet isn't v. good IMO!
Oh Twinkle, poor Josh! How horrid, hope he gets much better soon
Diege, will get questionnaires out asap Hoe you get some good results!
Off to Toddlers now for the afternoon, hope everyone is well esp. our new babies Speak later x

OP posts:
Diege · 21/03/2007 09:25

Morning everyone We have croup in the diege family, so everyone a bit bleary eyed this morning. TWINKLE! poor Josh that must have been really scary - hope he's feeling better now. Do you fancy meeting up during the Easter break? Second thoughts, while I'll just have Jasmine everyday but wednesdays (all 3),I suppose you ahve no respite! Would after the hols be better? oh and BTW, hope it was OK sending that questionnaire; hopefully you should have it by now . RODEO: absolutely agree with what you were saying about the woman with 10 kids - thought the threads were a bit judgemental to say the least (though am fsascinated to hear she is local to you .
Right, not even dressed yet , so better get going.
Speak later!

novadandypowder · 21/03/2007 10:10

What are you doing here - get your butt over to Yahoo now and coo over the pictures of my yummy little boy..

Go on!

Diege · 21/03/2007 11:23

Wow NOVA Gene is absolutely gorgeous and HOW grown up does Noo look!!! Love the one with Noo looking over her new brother. And you look totally recovered too! Aww, I want another one...

feetheart · 21/03/2007 11:28

Ooooooh, I've gone all gooey. He is GORGEOUS Nova
I've gone right back to 16 mths ago and that tiny baby feeling.
