Nova - When I reflect on comments like that and I get many from one particular 'friend' I always say it's a bit of the green-eyed monster surfacing - otherwise, why would she even bother mentioning it?
Nooo is just gorgeous, guess she's trying to find a 'flaw/fault' somewhere where there isn't one. On the otherhand, do you think you could have misinterpreted her comments? And does she actually have kids of her own? Oh, this strikes a chord with me, chimmmm!

Rodeo - Awwwww, at Jess. Really sweet!

Taking DS1 into Curry's was hilarious. He ran down the aisles of fridges until he fell flat on his back staring up in bewilderment at all the tall fridges, then over to the washing machines where he went wild screaming 'washeee' and trying to touch buttons and a final mad turn at the hoovers (had to buy a new one) which had me in stitches...funny little thing.

Had a great day today - the company was great for all of us.

Does anyone have one of those Britax filter kettles? Finding my new one pretty pants to use.

The long story chacha is this:
My friend spied the artons of SMA progress I have on the shelf and asked why I still gave noo formula. I said that it's a follow on milk designed for kids up to 2years and that I gave it to her because it was enriched with vitamins and minerals. Some days noo will eat like a bird and I just feel better knowing that she's had a bottle of it before bedtime. My friend then said she'd been told not to give formula after 1 year because it 'bulked children up', and then said a friend of hers stopped giving her child formula for this reason and the child really slimmed down. I explained that it was probably first milk she was talking about, as they are designed to help babies gain weight, and not the follow-on milks.

When I thought back about it I thought it sounded like she was suggesting I stop giving noo formula as she was 'bulking up' and I would find she would slim down without it. She's always going on about how chunky noo is and how much she likes children with some substance to them. And this is soneone who has always made cakes when we go round/she comes round

Glad you had a good day

Hello!! Just a quickie from work, and bogged down in marking... NOVA: at friend - some people just don't think before they engage their mouths - think the best thing would be to just ignore it, as if she has deliberatley wanted to stir things up, she'll be waiting for a rise..TWINKLE: how does Wednesday 30th sound? BTW think we have some of those cereal vouchers, so will bring along (or post earlier if need be ).
BTW, spoke to HR at the place where I applied for that job months ago now, just to confirm I hadn't got shortlisted, and they said it was all still waiting on various stuff - seems I've caused probs for them as one particular person wants me (the Head), and another certaintly doesn't (based on qualifications - nothing personal). So now of course I have to wait and see but pretty unimpressed with how they're handling things...Of course, to complicate things further, do you remember me saying about ttc no.4? Well, I'd sort of assumed I hadn't got the job, so took a few 'risks' this month ..would be astounded if I was pregnant this month, based on past form, but wouldn't it be sod's law if I was and an interview came through!!! Arghhh!!!!

twinkle1 · 17/05/2007 14:53

Rodeo · 17/05/2007 18:47

Hi!
Weather still dreary here.....will make this short, think my telephone cable has water in it or something, both internet and phone line have been playing up....
Diege, LOL at you not being careful that would just be typical! I was wondering about your application - great news that the head wants you! Fingers crossed [won't let on that I'm secretly crossing my fingers for No4 ]!
Nova, my friend is always commenting on her dd's long legs, and then moves on to Jess's tubby belly (have to say it's all true, her belly - but tactless never the less!)
Chacha - Awww at 'washeee!'
Going to Post Message now quickly, it'll only lose connection and make me cross! Bye! x

novadandypowder · 18/05/2007 11:02

Diege - are you sure it's a 'cold' you're coming down with

ChaCha · 18/05/2007 11:40

Hi girls

Sneaking on to PC as my dad has kindly taken the children out to give me time to clean the mess that is upstairs.

Brownie - Your are responsible for some weekend spending and more decluttering here. We have bunk beds (double bed on bottom and single on top), wardrobes and bookshelves in DS's room (it used to be our bedroom but as we are sleeping in different rooms right now the boys might as well get used to it) so have decided to get rid of all the girly colours in there and get them some boyish curtains and accessories instead - so a lovely little seat in Argos too and a playmat for the floor - this is all down to you Brownie, had not thought of this yet, DH is sending you many thanks, lol! You have started a trend here. Our bed is in the other room with the cot and a couple of cheapy wardrobes which will now be mine am sure we will have to rearrange again but will do for now. When we next move I am insisting on walk in wardrobes, a dresser and ensuite for me!!! The boys are taking everything!!

Nova - I sometimes give DS1 follow on milk too, it is designed for toddlers and so if he's been poorly, teething or just had a 'gone off' food day I too like to reassure myself that he's had some of that milk too. It is a good idea Just have to LOL at friend, I have one who is exactly the same and no matter how i try to avoid her at times, get wound up, shrug it off etc..i always go back for more Funny!

Rodeo - Hope you are back in cyber world. I remember when we were changing service providers and had no internet, was awful, had withdrawal symptoms, no joke!

Diege - Already excited at prospect of no.4 for you and Twinkle fingers crossed.

Hello to everyone who has not been posting but is catching up...pls drop in!

Better get busy or dad will not be amused. he still thinks i'm 12 at times, lol x

Diege · 18/05/2007 15:45

Hello! Ooh CHACHA hope you made the most of your time and did absolutely NOTHING!! The best way to spend time alone I find - tidying up can wait! All this furniture shopping is getting me twitchy; I've deliberately stepped away from thinking about dds rooms - we're hoping to get the house on the market soo, so will defer shopping until moved!
[GRIN] Nova - def. a cold, lol. Only one near miss I think, albeit on day 14 . Having said that, my cycles have gone CRAZY the past few months, from 20 days to 35, so goodness knows. In a perfect world I would get the job, then wait 8 months or so, then ttc...But of course plans never run the way they should!
Well, you can tell it's the marking season again can't you! Speak later!

Rodeo · 18/05/2007 21:31

Evening!
Connection to be working so far....but will make it quick just in case!
Diege, ahhh at Libby singing Twinkle Twinkle What a cutie! And you must tell us of any developments concerning AF (or no AF!)
Chacha - Is it the Z's bedroom your doing up? I had decluttered the children's rooms at last weekend - even a good clear out makes such a difference! Are you going for blue?
Will be booking our hols this week - just waiting on approval from dc's headteachers - gulp! Will be a cottage/flat in South Wales/Cornwall/Devon, was contemplating camping for a week but think it will be too hard and we'll end up feeling more worn out than before we left So will do a few weekends in the tent instead.
Nova, forgot to mention in my last post that I thought your friend was talking b*ll=cks too. Follow on milk is just milk enriched with extra vitamins and minerals, isn't it? Unless we've all missed something...
Right, quickly going to post again! (Just in case) Have lovely weekends all! Don't forget Grease is the Word is on tomorrow! x

OP posts:
Rodeo · 18/05/2007 21:35

Oh forgot to mention L&S has no internet connection at the moment either but she sends love to all
Also my SIL's best friend (who is also dp's ex!) had a baby girl called Fearne today! 10lb 1oz SIL was present at the birth! She said it was brilliant!

OP posts:
Rodeo · 18/05/2007 21:37

Oh an Chacha - Excuse the typo - not sure why I called your ds1 'the Z'!

OP posts:
Diege · 19/05/2007 11:06

Well, got interview through for the job this morning, for the 8th June . really, really pleased, although have to really will af to arrive now, lol!! Chances are I'm ok, but it will be an anxious few weeks. I would have to tell them I think if I was,and just hope for the best (it being illegal and all for them to discriminate, but easy as pie to do in an interview scenario!
Very blustery day here; at least the rain seems to have gone for now. Looking forward to 'Any dream will do' - not a 'Grease' fan!

GreedyGecko · 19/05/2007 16:54

Ooh! Congratulations Diege.

ChaCha · 20/05/2007 00:11

Diege - Congratulations What great news, i think that everything will work out just fine, either way it will be great news - well done Diege!

GG - Hiyeeee..how are you? Hope you're well. Missing posts from you, Beks and Londoner!

Rodeo - LOL at 'The Z' I actually dislike calling the kids DS1 and DS2 but I stopped wanting to put their real names online. Was something I meant to email you all about a while back but never got round to it. Have made mental note.
Kitting out DS's bedroom has gone pear shaped. Had a look in IKEA today and saw some lovely beds for him, really, really nice, and some v.cute bunk beds too. DH on a whim, bought some massive bunk beds before DS2 came along and now we are stuck with them! Now finding it hard to make a decision on the other stuff. Any ideas? ramble...ramble...

Had a lovely night out at a friend's place just a few of us without the children. Didn't miss them a bit, but sadly took out my phone at one point to show a video of them taken earlier in the day Both fast asleep on return and DH not grumpy...hurray! Off to bed now and vow never to visit IKEA again - what an afternoon!

Diege · 20/05/2007 11:41

Thanks girls! GG: how are things going? CHACHA: Ikea on a Saturday afternoon?? ..need I say more?? Re: bed situation I think I would sell the existing ones and get the new ones!! I know what it's like to fall in love with 'stuff', but maybe dh will be persuaded if you raise the possibility of selling? (maybe local ads to resolve the delivery issue?).
Well, we're going to take dds on a bike ride to our local 'big' park this afternoon, weather permitting! That's once dh has deemed his 'lie in' to be over, lol! (not) .

BrownieBells · 20/05/2007 18:28

Hello! First of all - Congratulations Diege....both about the interview and ttc no4! you fool! A few risks - dh is lucky to get it once in a while!!!

Chacha - I take full responsbility for the buying of bedroom stuff - but aboslutely none on the decluttering - that is something I don't seem to be able to get to grips with at all! Have now picked up the Border, rug & fleece blanket, all in the digger theme (to go nicely with the winnie the pooh stuff that is currently in there!) Am trying to hold out with putting the rug down until have persuaded dh to lamiante the floor! Not sure how long I will last!

GG - hello, hope you are well, and feeling a bit better....

Nova - Pah - that's what I say to your "friend" (hmm) I think Noo is gorgeous - and given the amount Thomas eats, I dread to think what she'd say if she knew us!!?? Ignore her - what does she know.....

Chacha - yahoo us about the name thing - nothing wrong is there?

Rodeo - good to hear from you too - we are going in a cottage in South Wales this year - mid August......
Think this year might be looking abit too busy for our camping trip as most weekends between now and end of September have something going on...Perhaps next year, specially if we get our butts into gear and organise it early on!? Definitely on for another Stratford meetup (at the fabulous park!?) again if anyone fancies it? Start thinking dates.....

Right, off to surf cyber world!

Brownie
x

novadandypowder · 20/05/2007 21:45

Chacha - I've only just read your email re: personal information. I agree with your points, which is partly why I call noo and miniman by their nicknames. I hadn't thought about those that have access to our yahoo group but no longer post on here, is there any way we can 'un-invite' them? My guess is no .

I think we need to be careful with how much of our lives we share on here, but I wouldn't like to think it'll prevent us from talking about things.

Diege - a quick congrats on the interviw

ChaCha · 20/05/2007 23:15

No, definitely shouldn't prevent anyone from posting what they want, when they want. Was just an observation that i'd made and thought it best to share but would rather not highlight it here hence the email.

For anyone confused I finally wrote an email re: personal info on threads. I have sent it to the email addresses i could easily identify and asked that it be fwd'd to those i remembered at the time. No big deal but felt it should be mentioned. I shared this with Londoner months ago but never got round to the email. Night folks Sorry for any confusion.

novadandypowder · 21/05/2007 11:11

I reckon the issues you raised in the email would be fine discussed on here Chacha. At least that way everyone is aware of it and we can maybe adjust things accordingly??

Is anyone collecting the sainsburys active kids vouchers and/or the tescos computers for schools vouchers? I have loads of them and will gladly send them out to you?

GreedyGecko · 21/05/2007 11:40

Can I bagsy those vouchers please nova?
