Hi girls

Just a quickie to say I am still out here, but the grim reaper is giving me the run around at the moment. We got back from Bournemouth on Sunday after dh's aunts funeral only to get a call from my dad yesterday telling me that my aunt had died. That's 4 deaths in 5 weeks, something of a record I fear!!!

Have tried to catch up but forgive me if I miss loads.

Karma great to have you back, have meant to call you a few times lately but things have been rather hectic.

Nova G & Noo are just adorable, the photo's are lovely. Well done on persevering with Noo to give up the dummy, I couldn't be without Toms at times.

Brownie, love the hair and T is gorgeous too.

Rodeo ahh what a cutie those curls are lovely and I've got to agree that there is a likeness between Noo and J. By the way that's not me on your friends website - I'd put him off women for life

Diege well done on surviving your course and hope work gives you the answer you're looking for.

Chacha, loved your aroring your kids post, sounds like you're doing a grand job.

Hi to GG, Londoner, Feetheart, Twinkle and everyone else, sorry a week away and my brain has turned to mush. Hope everyone is surviving, I mean enjoying the Easter hols, will hope to catch up again soon. Love to all Beks

feetheart · 03/04/2007 21:43

Gosh BEKS, you really are in the middle of it aren't you Sending you lots of virtual chocolate and a big hug. Make sure you take care of yourself in all of it.
When it all calms down we'll have to start thinking of a Whipsnade meet-up. We were there yesterday and it was GLORIOUS. Just a wonderful space for children to run around - I ended up with T's lazy 4 yr old friend in our buggy as A was out as soon as we were through the gates and had no intention of getting back in!!!

Nova - glad you're happy with the referral, shall we call off the MN Nov. Posse then and leave your HV alone?? IKWYM about struggling with Noo's behaviour. I found T really hard work at times after A was born (and still do occasionally if I'm honest) A newborn just needs the basics doing, which are tedious but almost 2nd nature by now, whereas the older one needs the cajolling(!), arguing, persuasion, distraction, etc, etc, etc which is SO much harder. I struggled and T was nearly 3 so I have huge sympathy for you. Has your DH had any time alone with the 2 of them yet? It might open his eyes a little to the strains of juggling such different needs!!

Right, that was supposed to be a short post but as usual has gone on!
Love to all not mentioned.

ChaCha · 03/04/2007 22:57

Beks - Thinking of you as always. Our condolences to you and your family and hope that we hear more from you soon.

Feetheart - Very true. Am wondering how hard it's going to be as baby starts getting older - it really is amazing how you just get on with it though when you are left to your own devices. I often find myself looking at the clock and wondering where a whole day has gone. DH doesn't see much of us these days but he is well aware of how hard it is, he just can't do anything about it unless we stop eating and go without - v.hard not to complain when you know that without his absence and lack of support we wouldn't have a home etc.. Also find it hard that i'm not contributing financially anymore too, does anyone else? Have gone on a bit of a tangent now.
Bedtime. x

novadandypowder · 05/04/2007 10:32

BEKS - that is such an unfortunate run of events. Sending positive thoughts and cyber hugs to you and yours x

Chacha - I have no issues about not contributing financially whilst the lo's are still babies, but then I've not worked for two years so have had time to get used to it. As I see it, my contribution to the house, child bearing/rearing and supporting of DH is a job in itself, and we deserve credit too . You are playing a valuable role too, so don't be too hard on yourself.

I am a walking rash at the moment as I've had a really bad reaction to some medication. Poor DH looked horrified yesterday, as it covered every inch of me. I'm now on steroids and anti-histameins (sp?) but I still look shocking and feel itchy.

Noo has been having tough time with teething this week, poor thing. She's turned into a bit of a daddies girl though, and DH is driving me a little mad with his discipline, or should that be lack of. He's being far too lenient with her as he feels sorry for her, but he's keeps letting her do things I've spent ages telling her not to. Actually think it may be easier when he goes back to work full-time next week.

Have had two nights now of doing noo's bedtime on my own and poor G has wanted a feed just before, so has spent a bit of time screaming down the house while I put noo to bed. Will have to try and alter his body clock soon, think I will start introducing a routine for him when he gets to a month.

Hope everyone enjoys the easter weekend . DH is going to dust off the bbq so expect rain in west london

BrownieBells · 05/04/2007 20:36

Beks - Echo everyone else's sentiments, sending you much love and many hugs - you know where we are....

Nova - soo sympathise with the Terror that is Teething - Thomas is really going through it too at the moment, off his food (although seems ok for biscuits ) drooling like a waterfall, and permanently pink cheeks!

It seems really hot in his room too - have put him in his 1.0 tog grobag, with his pjs on, but he is still warm....no heating on either!

Well, he has now had his hair cut....all the curls are gone It was all a bit last minute really...(not a bit like me!!!!!) but my Mum picked him up yesterday morning (she has him on Wednesdays) and said, right, your Auntie has a hair appt (with my hairdresser) and if you like I could nip T round there and see if she will trim his hair....I agreed on the condition that they took loads of photos, and also that they kept his hair so I can keep it in his record book/locket and so on.
Have to admit, it does look lots better, she shaped it round his ears and everything...

Right - can hear a little teething terror stirring for the first time in what will probably turn out to be a very long night (on a par with the last week or so I bet!!)

Ooh - no he has now stopped, but will sign off anyway, and scoot about and have a nose...

Diege · 06/04/2007 13:40

Hello!!! Have a few quiet-ish moments, so thought I'd pop on and say hello! BEKS: many condolences you poor thing ; will be thinking of you. NOVA: Poor you and your rash! Am a fellow sufferer of allergic rashes, so know how horrible they are. Went through a similar thing re: noo and G with dds 1&2 (ie, dd1 seemed very demanding, dh spoiling her, etc, etc) very hard, but in retrospect I would have tried to have given more time to dd1, as newbie won't even notice..so hard at the time though, with tantrums and tiredness...BROWNIE: boo to teething . Libby has a bad one coming through too, and we have all been suffering. She woke last night, and I actually thought of you being in the same situation - made it easier! . Very grumpy girl today, not eating (other than the odd sneaky piece of choccy!)and permanently snotty nose!
DH off out all day on bike ride (which, on invesigation is actually a bike-facilitated pub crawl ; nice for some...Having said that, I am earning credits for weekend away at the beginning of May in York with a friend. Anyone else think in terms of 'credits'?? (sleep/time off, etc...?) .
Right, Chitty Chitty Bangbang has finished, so better get shifted! Hi to everyone else, and enjoy the holiday!!

diddle · 06/04/2007 19:51

Gatecrash alert

just wanted to say hi to, Rodeo, Beksmum, Chacha. I haven't been on here for months, so thought i'd check in on you lot.

Beks - so sorry to hear of your run in with the grim reaper, life is so cruel sometimes.

How are you all doing? any of you on number 2 or 3 yet?

ChaCha · 06/04/2007 20:25

Hi Diddle How are you and the LO? An update would be good! Nova had a baby boy a few weeks ago and I had mine almost 2 months ago now. I think a few of the others are planning on another too.

Nova - Thanks for the reminder, what you said is so right. Just justifying ME treats sometimes is hard - not that i do it very often. Hope you and Noo feel a bit better after the weekend, how are you finding the general day to day with them both? FWIW DS2 is demanding lots and lots more attention now and straining his neck to make sure he's in on everything going on, they grow so quickly! Am not sure what it's going to be like when they are both toddling around

Hi to you all, have a lovely long weekend. We've been having great weather, lots of long, long walks, botanic gardens, BBQ etc..makes such a lovely change from snotty noses, cold weather and indoors x

diddle · 07/04/2007 15:43

Hi Chacha - wow congrats you two on your new additions.

Well Josh is doing great, he is now 9 months old, and is turning into a real character, he's just trying to crawl, clever boy. I'm loving being a mom, so much so that I am now almost 4 months pregnant with number 2, due in Sept. can't wait.

Its great to be back on mumsnet again, so glad so many familiar names are still here.

Beksmum · 07/04/2007 20:00

Hi girls

Diddle how lovely to see you, Josh sounds just adorable and what fantastic news about no.2, how lovely, all these babies make me broody.

How's everyone's Easter weekend going?

We were very industrious yesterday and started clearing the garden up, Tom just loves being outside, just like Ben, so thought we'd better make it safe again. Filled the sandpit with new clean sand, Tom emptied most of it back out, but had a whale of a time doing it!

Today, we've had an easter egg hunt in 3 different gardens and Ben and Tom have come back with more chocolate than you can shake a stick at. Tom decided that bouncing around on my friends bouncy castle was much more fun than sleeping and eventually flaked out at 7pm after having no sleep all day

Finally moved Tom into his own room last night as we had to delay it with all the chaos that has been going on around us. He went to sleep at about 8:30ish after ooohing and ahhing at his new room and slept till 9am - hooray!!!

Right best go as have got to go and pick my parents up from the airport again tonight, the poor things are backwards and forwards like yo-yo's at the moment.

Hope everyone is enjoying the glorious weather and eating far far too much chocolate. Beks

Beksmum · 07/04/2007 20:01

Oh sorry meant to say Feetheart, what about Whipsnade on the next teacher training or in-set day? I'll have a look on my claendar and we'll try to fix up a date. Beks

Rodeo · 07/04/2007 21:52

Evening,
Dp is out again - mate's birthday, unavoidable apparently Deige, he is definitely down in credits at the mo (well into the red)! I wonder how much harder it it would be being a single mother of 3? Only joking (just)....can you tell I've got a bag on?!
Anyway....Beks, good to hear from you Although really sorry about your bad news, you poor thing Hugs to you and thoughts are with your parents. How cute is the image of T 'oohing and ahhing' at his new room Long may those long nights continue!
Diddle, nice to hear you and Josh are doing well. Pg again?! Wow! You're all mad Congrats
Nova, how's the rash? Did you get your BBQ? The weather's been lovely, though I got blooming sunburnt on Thursday!
Cuddles to all the teething babies, hope everyone is having a lovely easter weekend and you all get lots of choccy tomorrow! Must remember to 'eat' the carrot B&J put out for the bunny! Night x

Diege · 07/04/2007 21:59

Evening! Having a nice easter break, though have to say am EXTREMELY pleased when dds bedtime comes around Libby has two new side/back teeth coming through and seems to be in constant tantrum mode at the moment, and the other two are like crazy animals running round the house (some kind of mega role-play 'game' they have been devising, that involves dodgy-sounding American accents). Roll on work... ...I least I get paid for being stressed out .
MILs tommorrow (great...)but like the dentists and smear tests, it has to be done...
Well, on that cheerful note I'll say good night. Have to say am well-impressed by your gardening efforts BEKS, and the transition to Tom's own room - wow, bet you're pleased, esp. with the 'lie in' - he must be very settled . Oh and hi to DIDDLE too, and congrats on the baby front! I have a small gap between dds 1&2 and it has worked out so well (ignore above stressed out rant!). Night all!

Diege · 07/04/2007 22:01

Hi RODEO!!! wow, spooky cross-posting there!
Yes, def. in the red there I would say; he needs to be sorting out a repayments plan I would say

ChaCha · 08/04/2007 17:43

Beks & Feetheart - Let me know when you a plan a day at Whipsnade, might brave the coach and join you. Think DS1 would just love it. Speaking of which, having looked at the ,a family day out at the zoo has become quite pricey (or is that just me?) including petrol and parking but then again, probably not something that is done very often so easily justified.
Congrats on new room for T - what's it like then? And how is B?

Rodeo - Awww...hope DP made it up to you! I also didn't see DH last night, not until 11 and that's because he was out enjoying time with his new found love..you know..the one in the back garden ...bath time with these two was farcical, had both of them in bed with me, finally slept and then i ended up doing the same being shattered instead of watching end of film..typical!

DS1 also molar teething here. We took him out to the park for a picnic today and we all had a nice time until grandad accidentally got the bridge of his nose with the frizbee (sp?), he has seen better days poor thing. Can i just mention that DH took the LO last night for a feed so i could lie down with DS1 for a rest (have been sleeping with him upright on my chest as he has snuffly nose) and he turned over at some point and cuddled me - it was the best feeling in the world, he did it when i woke up too - it makes all the hard days, long nights, constant nappy changes and tantrums worthwhile - I'm in love! He hee (until next nappy change)

Love x

ChaCha · 08/04/2007 17:44

Oh Diege - LOL at dodgy American accents, ha ha!! Oh to be a little girl again!

BrownieBells · 08/04/2007 18:29

Hello All, and a Happy Easter to all.
Well, T has been truly spoiled as always! My Nanna was down for a week, and as she doesn't see him often, she has goena little mad with the treats! (not that we're complaining!) so he now has a toy dyson (Beks, did you say you had one of these for your T!?) he loves it!! he has loads of choccy.....and HOORAY I can now eat choc again after what seems like an eternity of Lent!!

Thomas has hidden our Magnetic Key for the kitchen cupboards! *(well either that or we've misplaced it ! ) so we need to go and get another one now!

He is a monkey, but def a loveable one!

Oh and Rodeo - we have now got a backpack for T - got the LittleLife Cross Country one, used it yesterday - he screamed for the first 10 minutes or so he was in it, but soon got used to it (or quickly realised that no one was going to take him out of it!) SO we just did a short 2.5 mile walk, and he loved it! let him run a round, I took the puschair too (in case he hated the reucksack, or wanted a nap!) which was bloomin hard work to push on the terrain we were on!
Anyway, it was the only carrier they had at the shop I went too - Go Outdoors, and I thought it was a reasonable price at £45....

Right, off to eat chocolate, and surf the tinterweb!

Brownie

ChaCha · 09/04/2007 12:40

Morning all,

Hope that you are all enjoying lovely weather and having good weekends.

Was adding some pics to our group when i noticed that Tex has added some lovely pictures of her and her family. They are really lovely. Talk later x

novadandypowder · 09/04/2007 15:10

Well, what a lovely weekend . Am supposed to be shopping for groceries online (roadworks near the local supermarket, so not driving there for a few weeks), but have got sidetracked ...

We managed to get the best 2 days out of the 4 for the BBQ's, and it's been great to catch up with friends. The rash is almost gone, however we've all got snotty, coughy colds thanks to noo. Poor G is not a happy bunny, and has been spending some time sleeping upright in the sling.

Ahhh DH is snoring on the sofa and it's putting me off my typing!

Noo is being very lovely with G, although we did find him asleep with jam on his face on friday .

Rodeo - I definitly work with a 'credit' system, I think I must have enough for a week away in Vegas though by now, lol!

Was to find out that the girl I was a bridesmaid for this time last year has split up from her husband. They were together 10 years before getting married, so it's taken us all by surprise, including her. Her husband just said he didn't love her any more . She's not taking any calls at the mo, so I've no idea how she's doing, but I know I'd be devestated if I was in that situation.

Chacha - We've still not realy returned to a normal day to day here yet, DH goes back to work next week so I'm by myself then. Having noo at nursery helps, and G is already on the waiting list for two mornings and two afternoons a week when he gets to 3 months. At the moment I'm quite hopeful as the weather is good and we have a park across the road where noo can go and let off some steam. Not too sure about travelling too much further afield just yet, although noo fell asleep upright in the P&T yesterday, so she can sleep in it if she needs to.

Would be interested in Whipsnade aswell if that's being planned.

ChaCha · 09/04/2007 17:21

Hi Nova You sound well, good to see you post. Sorry to hear about the round of colds again, we have it here too, DS1 kept us up most of the night with constant screaming and throwing himself around the bed - he gets terribly frustrated when he can't sleep properly and makes sure that we all get a taste of it too, he's not stupid! Also keeping the baby upright either in rocking chair or lying upwards on my chest at night..any excuse for a cuddle..it is so true, don't spend half as much time with the second baby like I did the first, love having some alone time with him which is generally in the middle of night, first thing in morning.
Sounds like you've had a good weekend, makes a good start for the week ahead. Feel sorry for your friend, would also be devestated. I was just reading a thread on the Relationships bit last night, really made me think. One particular MNer had some really interesting things to say. I like to think. Reflection is good.

Well highlight of the day will be getting to read a few more pages of my mag, a hot drink and a possible bath. Life's little luxuries!
Anything good on later?

novadandypowder · 09/04/2007 19:35

Have just about given up on TV, the only things I enjoy are Desperate housewives and Marbella belles. The latter is full of the most odious women, but it makes me laugh/shudder (if you've seen it you'll know what I mean).

IKWYM about actually enjoying the night time cuddles, it's so true that it's the only quality time with baby.

Have eaten own body weight in choccy - bleurgh

BrownieBells · 09/04/2007 20:38

Hey All!

Hope this finds everyone well?

I have also gorged on chocolate Nova...but after not eating any during Lent, half an egg made me feel sick!

Ok, need some shopping tips.....Am looking to buy some curtains for Ts bedroom, but can't find any that I like...need to get rid of the black out blind cos it's pants! And my step mil will be v. handy with the old alterations should they be required. Actually thinking of going down the material route, but can't even think where to get some from...how useless am I!!!???

Oh, and Diege/Rodeo and any other shopping addicts out there, you would be proud of me - went to Debenhams sale today, and spent a small fortune (after going in on Friday and doing the same!!) But what bargains - they were just sitting on the shelves wiating for me, calling my name!!!! I am chanting the mantra, "I really do need that aubergine coloured desinger handbag.....!"

Right off to look at any new piccies on yahoo.....

B

novadandypowder · 10/04/2007 19:16

Feetheart - Noo has become a huge fan of Kneebouncers and I wondered if you knew of any other sites like it? She's addicted to computer games already!

feetheart · 10/04/2007 21:57

Nova - haven't found anything else yet though some of the CBeebies stuff might be suitable, seem to remember the INCREDIBLY irritating Animal Parade from the Teletubbies site that T used to love.
Ash is similarly addicted - he'll come and sign 'computer' at me then sit and bash hell out of the keyboard. Not sure about PCs but he has found some unbelievable keyboard shortcuts on my Mac. He made the whole thing go a mad black and white yesterday, apparantly a shortcut that takes 4 keys(as DH found out when he spent ages trying to put it right!!!

BEKS (and everyone else who wants to come) - definitely up for Whipsnade meet-up, just let me know the next inset day.

All a bit mad here but had a lovely Easter w/e, warm sunny days just make everything seem so good.
Hope to catch up soon.

Rodeo · 11/04/2007 13:49

Hello!
Hope everyone is enjoying the lovely weather! Are you all prepared for the 'heatwave' at the weekend?!
We're just about surviving the easter holidays, took B&J to London yesterday, it was a brilliant! We all walked our feet off So having a 'relaxed' day at home today (although days are never relaxed with Joe about, not sure if it's a boy thing or just the way he is, remember my cousin, also a Joe, being the same - must be the name)
I watched Marbella Belles last night Nova - after you recommendation! It was really funny in a cringeworthy way your right! That woman who announced she was pg!! Sorry to hear about your friend Have you managed to speak to her yet?
Brownie, did your magic key turn up?! And £45 for your LL back carrier is quite a bargain I think isn't it?
Diege, how's the hols? LOL at smear test & dentist line
Chacha, love your new pics The boys are quite different, Z looks really blond and Y quite dark, who do they take after?
Tex & Beks, enjoyed your new pictures too
Anyway, have been with the horses all morning which means housework has stacked up, not quite sure how they manage to make so much mess & washing in the hols (nearly over, not long now.....) Speak later x
