Just a thought time I've found Rory hates being on his back, if I hold him like in your pic he screams. Discovered he likes to either be up iver my shoulder or have me lay back and him lay stomach down on my chest, other one I do is put my knees up in front of me and lay him on my thighs facing me - then rock my legs side to side. Once he finally drifts I give him 10 mins and then put him in the basket.

Re the dummy - does she suck on it properly? If she's not sucking that might be why she's dropping it, my mil told us to tap on it every minute or so and it makes him suck - seems to work so far.

He's a bloody nuisance and really difficult sometimes -then this happens.

He was happy once home and fed though and I caught a smile on camera like q Grin
time have you seen the GP or HV lately? There's an organisation called Home-Start who provide volunteers who are generally also parents to visit weekly and help with whatever may help you, google it to see if they're in your area, or ask your HV if you think it might help?

Afternoon all Grin

We had a fair night. DS2 slept a good 4+ hr chunk for the first part but I didn't get to sleep for an hour or so after. Think I'm on around 5 hrs in 3 stretches, which I can cope with (but I'll need more sleep in the next few days or I'll go crackers again!)

I'm still in wobbly-belly land, but I still haven't weighed myself. I've been waking into town and back (hilly) which must be doing something because my knees are really struggling first thing in the morning!

MrsE I've got a Mio Fuse watch which is accurate for steps if I'm running, but only works if I swing my arms like a loony when walking. Which I'm not going to do! I have considered putting it on my ankle though...

Sorry to hear you're feeling it, Time. I've got DS2 in the carrier again (only place he'll nap in the day) so at least I could eat lunch, hang some washing watch tv in peace, go to the loo etc! And hopefully he won't get overtired and will be happier later on (wishful thinking?).

Knits, DS2 doesn't calm if he's picked up. He gets screamy when he's tired and only calms when lakes/rocked/bounced etc.

"She's fed, clean and winded. If she won't sleep on me then surely her only choice is to cry on me" Yep, that's what I figure too!

We're at swimming now and it's sweltering. Got DS2 in the ring sling (only one layer of fabric) in a vest and we're both a bit sticky. (And desperate for a drink, but DS1 will be out of the pool in a mo...)

I think it might be a Pimms afternoon when we get home...GrinWine

MyNameIsSuz · 06/05/2016 18:07

Ooh pimms, that's a genius idea indomitable! I bought a couple of cans of bitter lemon earlier to have a little gin once the boy is in bed, but maybe I'll put it in pimms instead...

Me624 · 06/05/2016 18:30

It's been very hot here today too. I took DS for a walk in the carrier when he wouldn't sleep and we both ended up rather sweaty. He's been another one today who has been difficult to get to sleep - every time I've managed to get him off, he's only stayed asleep for 20 or 30 minutes max so not had a really good length nap. Hopefully he'll still sleep ok tonight. He's fallen asleep on me just now but I'm about to wake him up for a bath and bedtime bottle!

DS will definitely be in just a vest in his sleeping bag tonight.

I'm jealous of all this Pimms talk! DH has gone out tonight so it's just me and DS and there's no alcohol in the house apart from wine which isn't chilled! I'm planning some trashy TV once DS is in bed though until DH gets home - he assures me he won't be late or drink too much as he's looking after DS tomorrow while I go out for the afternoon.

Purpleprickles · 06/05/2016 20:33

Hot here too, E seems to be feeding more, not sure if it's a growth spurt or the heat? We had dinner in the garden tonight which was lovely and have friends over for a BBQ this weekend so making the most of the sun.

I've been feeling a bit meh today, somedays I wake up happy to be at home on mat leave and other days life with a baby feels a bit lonely. We did go to baby sensory but at the moment it's all kind of polite hellos. I miss the day to day banter of work I suppose.

ffauxlivia · 06/05/2016 20:49

It's 31 degrees in Minneapolis today, and humid as hell! Baby is sleeping more than usual and is difficult to feed but I'm trying not to worry, I mean we all want to sleep and eat less in the heat, right? And she's still having wet nappies

Have we heard from beautiful for a while? Thinking of you!

For those complaining about babes who scratch, fight and push at boob when feeding, I got one of these silicone teething necklaces and it's been helping. I try and get her to grab hold of it, otherwise she claws at her ears and eyes and cheeks when feeding and hurts herself! I thought it was due to my low supply but maybe it's a baby thing. But anyway it's not a perfect solution but looks cute and will help with teething too! If they don't ship to UK I'd be happy to order and post one to you!

It's my birthday today and DD has been giving me lots of smiles, best present ever :) :) :)

dobbythedoggy · 06/05/2016 20:51

We've been busy enjoying the hot weather. An afternoon on the beach, lots of walks, and time in the park. Have found wetting a muslin works well for keeping us both cool when using the sling, I just keep damping it down with water from a bottle when we're out and sticking it between us. Although it is cooling off slightly here now.

Eddy's on mass pooing has led to a sore bright red bottom. Strong cream from the chemist prescribed yesterday seems to have at least stopped it getting any worse.

I can hear dd out of bed!

Happy birthday ffaux hope you have a good day!!

Happy birthday ffaux!

marmiteandcheeseplease · 07/05/2016 02:12

Happy birthday ffaux! Wow 31 degrees sounds hot! Think it was only about 20 here and I struggled with E in the carrier as overdressed us both at first. Went to Marwell zoo with her and DD1 and DD1 decided she wanted to spend the whole time being pushed in the buggy which I wasn't expecting so was v hot and tired! It cooled down after lunch though so was bearable.

Thanks for all the advice re stomach muscles. I weighed myself yesterday (Friday weigh in!) and I've lost a couple of pounds at last but I'm still horrible overweight - 10 stone 5 when my 'natural' weight is around 9 stone 7 (I'm 5 ft 3). So having excess belly fat doesn't help. With DD1 I know my stomach muscles were separated for ages and I only ever closed the gap to 1cm, but I don't know if it was this bad at 7 weeks pp as I didn't have it checked until 10 weeks or so when it was 2cm. I'm going to keep doing my core exercises (thanks for letting me know what your physio suggested French) and try to get a gp appointment this week.

Has anyone else had or getting the IUD fitted? I've got an appointment to get one fitted in week after next and dreading it. I had one for years before DD1, and I remember it being so painful when inserted Sad

E is being is being a bit of a nightmare to settle tonight and is very gassy and farting loads. Ended up having to co sleep as she wouldn't settke and just did the first night feed of the night (a little later than usual woot), have put her in her cot and she's grunting away and farting, poor thing. Because we were out all day I didn't really get a chance to do exercises to get her wind out and it seems to have made a difference. Have definitely learned for next time! Not sure if I've shared this before but my yoga teacher has a blog post on helping babies pass wind and I found it really useful with E -

ffauxlivia · 07/05/2016 02:47

Thanks for the bday wishes! Got some gorgeous yellow roses from DH

It peaked at 34 degrees with a 'feels like' temp of 38 so no wonder baby was so cranky! Was so worried about her sleep so we went out and bought an A/C unit for the bedroom, but of course temp will be back to 20 degrees tomorrow!

Sorry about the tummy issues marmite, how do you know the separation degree, what is the test? Though not sure I want to know ....

marmiteandcheeseplease · 07/05/2016 04:16

ffaux this link explains how to check for seperated muscles:

You could also look on YouTube for 'check diastasis recti' for videos showing how to do it.
