Beaut sorry you've had a tough night, not sure how you do it with four I'm struggling with one..

Pride comes before a fall and all that after feeling very good at repeating twice what the clinic showed me yesterday evening we've failed at 2am and this morning to do it resulting in her screaming at me and me crying before passing her and a bottle to DH.

Sorry you're having trouble vroc, I am too - I've got a big bit hanging off my nipple and am too frightened to feed off that side Sad I don't really know what to do, have done two feeds with just lefty so far today which I don't think is sustainable. Argh!

MrsBenWyatt · 31/03/2016 11:21

Paper I second the advice to get a sling. Total godsend for Velcro babies!

HV has been out to weigh Ted. He's now 10lb 4oz at four weeks (birth weight 8lb 8oz). Looks like all the feeding has been worth it!

1frenchfoodie · 31/03/2016 11:42

suz have you tried expressing from the breast with bit hanging off? You can be more gentle than baby. Managed to hand express 60ml in c. 15-20 mins yesterday and it went down a treat. Eloise is only 10 days old but no nipple/bottle confusion as she has strong suck reflex including for our fkngers, her fist etc.

RhubarbAndMustard · 31/03/2016 11:48

MrsB Aah, that makes sense now, thank you! Will practice again this pm. I'm determined to use it.

Q we use size 2 nappies, just because we had so many given to us in nappy cakes that I didn't want to waste them! . Think J must be over 10lb now and rarely get a leak. I think it's worth trying different brands too.

Timetogrowup2016 · 31/03/2016 11:59

Place marking.
Calais was six weeks on Tuesday. I can't believe it- especially how much she has changed already (two pics). Makes me feel kinda sad :(. I want my tiny newborn back haha.
We have our six week "mother and back check" today at ththe gps. I have lots of questions to ask. I think I have piles (sharp scratch feeling in my rectum when I poo) sorry TMI, Calais still has a gunky eye, a green spot on belly button and a slight cough to. Looking forward to seeing how much she weighs. She now fits in newborn clothes and tiny baby clothEs are getting to small (they where so baggy on her when she was born).
Think she's going through some crazy growth spurt at the moment, last few nights she's woken every 2-2.5 hours for 3oz of milk every time. Before that she was sleeping up to four hours sometimes. I wasn't letting her go any longer than four though but not sure if that should of been 3.
She's become a wee bit more fussy and we had a bad night two nights ago. She was up from 2-5 being very fussy and constantly feeding. Last night though my oh had her 6pm-midnight and I went to bed at 6:30 and she didn't wake until 2am them was up till 4:30 but slept till 6:30 after that so I don't feel completely knackered.

She is very sicky. But a happy sicky. She's not bothered by it and sleeps on her back happily so I don't think it's reflux. She vomits up a lot sometimes- soaks the sheets, her self and me. It was literally a puddle on me the other day.

Mrs Ben- very jealous of those smiles. Nothing from Calais yet :(. Really can't wait until she does though.
Beaut- sorry today has been tough. Your doing great. I can't imagine how hard it is. I struggle with just my baby. Keep going
Sorry to everyone having trouble breastfeeding and come on indoms baby! Can't wait to see a pic.

Does anyone else's babies make noises in their sleep? Calais sounds like a sheep going "baa" every few seconds in her sleep. I sleep on the sofa because of it and oh comes and gets me when it's my turn at night otherwise I just can't sleep through it but he can. She's so noisy also she will cry in her sleep but I can see her sleeping and her eyes are closed. It lasts a few seconds then it stops. She also grunts and whines. Obviously I don't leave her to cry but she falls back to sleep strict after it. I'm assuming wind but she burps well and farts a lot and her poos are massive she is defo not consipated.
Right off for a shower while she's asleep. Might not get another chance!

I thought about that French , I wasn't sure if it would be better or worse than feeding, and like an idiot I haven't cleaned or sterilised the pump or bought any new bottles. Just checked it and the bit has come off so I've bitten the bullet and fed her on it. Definitely need to work on our latch. And use tonnes of nipple cream.

Trinpy · 31/03/2016 12:22

Place-marking.

Q I have the same problem with nappies leaking - they only seem to last 2 hours, which is useless for overnight. I tried sz 2 and it didn't make any difference, but you might have better luck! I'm sure we had the same problem with ds and he grew out of it in the end. I wonder if putting a booster (like you use in reusable nappies) in a disposable would work?

Love seeing all the pictures of the babies. They change so much so quickly.

We had our 10 day mw visit today. William has regained the weight he lost and put 7oz on his birth weight. Really proud of how well we've done Smile.

QforCucumber · 31/03/2016 12:38

It's so odd because during the day they seem fine but when I feed him on a night he's always soaked Sad will try size 2 and see if I get anywhere

My 12 day old milk monster!

March 2016: the one where Indomitable gives birth...
Woodenmouse · 31/03/2016 13:17

Q Dex is massive for his 19 days!! When he wa sst weighed he was 10lb 10oz. He is in 3-6 month baby grows. I've had to put him in size 2 nappies and its stopped them leaking as much as they were.

TriJo · 31/03/2016 15:19

Back in hospital - Conor had lost 12% of his birth weight and was jaundiced, sitting while he has a snooze under the lights now. His blood sugar levels were low too despite him cluster-feeding like mad. Feeling absolutely crap about it all :(

Poppins27 · 31/03/2016 15:34

Aw sorry to hear that Trijo, sorry I have little practical advice but hoping your soon sorted and get all the help needed. Please don't beat yourself up over it, i know it's easier said than done!! Thanks

Mrsben those smiles are totally delicious!! Bertie will be 4 weeks old tomorrow and no signs of anything from him...can't wait though!!

Q I've tried various nappies as wanted to pay as little as possible if I'm honest. Aldis were good and didn't leak but gave DS nappy rash, Tescos were terrible overnight, twice he woke up soaking so happy to use during the day but sticking with pampers for now. Bertie was weighted today at 9lb 7 and we've started with size 2 which have been fine.

Indom did I miss the news re your friends twins?! Hope all went well?!
(But would much prefer your birth announcement!!)

Well I went to the Drs today and BP is perfect again so fully weaned off the labitanol. Yay!! But I mentioned that I've got a funny sensation in my fingertips at the moment, almost like I've been asleep on my arm and have cut off my circulation. Apparently it's the beginning of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome which is extremely common after pregnancy, recommended ibuprofen daily and it shod pass. Though it could be useful if anyone else has noticed this?!

IndomitabIe · 31/03/2016 15:41

Grin Poppins! I didn't think anyone was quite as excited about it as I was!

She's the one who had IVF around the time I got my BFP, it was terrifying. What if it hadn't worked? I'd have felt so awful. But yes, she had them yesterday! All beautiful and cute and lovely!

MrsElls · 31/03/2016 15:56

tri both my dc's have been readmitted with weight loss and jaundice and both times I sat in the hospital crying but it really is just one of those things that is really common for newborns so try not to feel bad. If you need to top up with formula/ebm to help get rid of the jaundice try to think of it as getting him used to taking a bottle and letting daddy help. My ds had jaundice for about 8 weeks and we were constantly back and forward for blood tests but that is the exception not the norm, Cassidy was perfectly pink by 2 weeks and no one was worried about the jaundice level after about 8 days.

Timetogrowup2016 · 31/03/2016 16:07

Tri- sorry to hear that.
Calais had jaundice and spent two days under the lights. Little madam loved it. She was so settled the whole time. Like she was sunning her self on the beach.
Don't feel bad. It's one of those things. Calais' jaundice took about five weeks to go which is longer than the norm but don't feel bad at all. Your doing a great job and I hope you can go home soon.

Cal is in tiny baby/early baby clothes still but if I run out of clean ones she wears newborn which just about Fits now. Can't believe some of your babies are busting out of 0-3 that's crazy.

Back from six week check. Gutted they didn't weigh Calais. So going to go see health visitor next week as I'm really worried. Her weight is turning into an obsession for me. Before the doctors she projectlied vomited every where. Que massive rush to the doctors after changing me/baby with starving baby screaming. So fed her their. I'm so worried about her loosing weight. I told doctor and he offered no advice just said plenty of dirty Nappies etc and visibly she is getting bigger and very alarm and Soft spot on head not sunk in so she's not dehydrated. They offered no help for my anxiety either :(. Roll on oh coming home so I can tidy the flat up and his off for the next three days yay

Timetogrowup2016 · 31/03/2016 16:07

Oh and my baby is sleeping without being swaddled for the first time in weeks! Victory lol

BumpPower · 31/03/2016 16:12

Sorry to hear that trijo as others have said it is just one of those things and nothing to feel guilty about but we are hardwired for guilt at mo!!
indom pregnant or not it is the Easter holidays step away from the marking!! know what you mean about not knowing whether to rest or do lots. Could you alternate between long walks and sleeping?
q we had to put 2 nappies on DS at one point, one backwards and then a pull up over the top, he was in size 3s by then so not sure if that's helpful though.
Off to hospital tomorrow with Ginny for her second ECG. Not worried (above usual mother of newborn levels) as all the tests they have done have been fine. Part of me is quite looking forward to day just the two of us!

Woodenmouse · 31/03/2016 16:14

Tri Ds1 was in hospital for jaundice. It was missed by mw and hv for a week and by the time a different mw realised he was close to needing a blood transfusion. He slept so well under the lights the little monster. He was perfectly fine after being treated!!

Paperblank · 31/03/2016 16:43

Second vote from us for ALDI nappies. Tesco were just okay but DH is keen on Martha trying out every brand going to find the perfect one for her. So far ASDA have the top spot, then ALDI.

I bought a Baby Bijorn which is great but even in that she's been screaming today ( anyone got any Earplugs? Confused)

M is now in 0-3 clothes, she's 5 weeks old and almost 8lb. We had a few smiles at the beginning of the week, heartmeltingly gorgeous. It's something to look forward to.

Am going to attempt to put grumpy bum down for a nap...wish me luck x

March 2016: the one where Indomitable gives birth...
QforCucumber · 31/03/2016 17:04

Thanks all, aldi are what we have been using so hAve been and bought a couple of packs of their size 2 in the hope he can have a drier night tonight.

Will sat sainsburys own are awful - friend gave us a pack and used a couple a few days ago, they didn't even last an hour before leakage no wonder she gave me them!
tri sorry to hear about your jaundice worries, really hope connor reacts well to the lights and won't need much more treatment.
time Calais seems so tiny to me, but ill bet to you she's growing at a mad speed! Try not to obsess over her weight, but if you can't help it then Could you weigh yourself, then pick her up and see what the difference is? May not be perfectly accurate but will give you an idea if her weight (that's how the vet weighs our cat as he won't stand on their scales long enough for it to register)

Crispylicious · 31/03/2016 17:07

Aww trijo the jaundice is absolutely not your fault. It's very very common. R has a bit but fingers crossed it's not getting worse. Big hugs and please be kind to yourself.

q we're having exactly the same problem with my R's nappies. DD's rarely leaked, so it must be a boy thing? I've read to make sure their willy is pointing down in the nappy and it gets better once the cord stump has fallen off?

suz ouch at your poor nipple - my eyes are watering at the thought of it! No advice other than lots and lots of lansinoh. Would nipple shields help?

I need to get using our caboo. It's going to be essential with toddler plus baby. beaut I have no idea how you are managing 4 kids. You are a total superstar!

Does anyone else have a baby that won't go in their cot at all? I had to hold him all of last night, so ended up sleeping with him in my arms. I followed the safe sleeping recommendations as far as I could, but still worry. DH has just gone to collect a sleepyhead, which I'm hoping will be a magic solution....

I appear to be in continent Sad Has anyone else experienced this? It was fine for a few days after birth but I've got an evil cold and every sneeze/cough sets the wee going. I also struggle to tell when I need to wee, resulting in some accidents, as I just can't control it if I have a full bladder. DH has been sent out to find some tena lady, nice.

IndomitabIe · 31/03/2016 17:14

Yeah but Bump, technically I'm still 'at work', and I'd normally do some over the holidays anyway. I'd rather do it now than when I'm on maternity pay! (Done them now anyway!)

Good luck with the ECG.

I don't believe you, Paper, that's one chirpy-faced baby!

Sorry to hear that, Crispy. It may settle yet, so don't panic, but do mention it to the doc if it doesn't. Thanks

TriJo, the others have covered everything. Don't beat yourself up. Thanks

And WineWineWine all round for you lot!

Timetogrowup2016 · 31/03/2016 17:19

Crispy. Re them not going into cot have you tried swaddling? Seems to settle Calais pretty quickly most times. It's very normal for such young babies to just want to be held though. They've been a part of you for so long it's strange for them being a separate being. It will get better. Also is their a strong startle reflex that wakes baby or does baby just not go down in the first place ?
Calais can generally be placed down but the reflex wakes her up.
Will try the weighing technique earlier. We done it last week and it showed she weighed 6 ibs 8oz

QforCucumber · 31/03/2016 17:25

Oh I don't know then crispy our Rory lost his cord stump at 3 days old, have been pointing it down but he does wriggle that much when Im changing him that there is every chance it works its way back up again when im tired doing nighttime changes. Change him before each feed and he sleeps for between 2.5-4 hours at a time so wouldn't expect him to be so wet in that time. Will see how tonight in these bigger ones goes (if he sleeps at all, he's only been awake for 3 hours today poor little mite)

Absoloutly dreading dp going back to work on Monday, honestly don't know how i will cope he's been my rock this past 2 weeks. He's already looking at when to put his next week's annual leave in as we aren't having a holiday this year.

BumpPower · 31/03/2016 19:09

crispy to help settle in the moses basket I put the t shirt I've been wearing that day over the mattress like a fitted sheet and then stick a hand warmer thing in first. Obv I take the hand warmer out before putting Ginny in but it seems to work as it's warm and smells like Mummy.
indom glad you've done it now still think you are crazy though hope your school truly appreciate you!
