HAPPY 2007!
Erm, we had a quiet one, thank gawd. I am no good with booze nowadays. Went out every night for 8 nights before Xmas eve and could not handle a single drink by the last two nights.
How are you all feeling as the new year opens up? I quit my job end of the month, and start the next one pretty much straight off. Have house stuff to sort out, I hope we can exchange soon. DP is away a lot this month as well, business trips up north. I wonder how'll well get on, this is new for us.
DaF, how's new motherhood going this time round?

hoxtonchick · 05/07/2007 18:25

happy birthday!

bagpuss · 06/07/2007 10:15

Thank you!

MB, the cake was very easy to make - I'm not really a cake baker but do enjoy cooking and find that the icing is really similar to playdoh so it is quite easy to get a good result without needing too much skill.

Happy Birthday Camille, I hope you all have a lovely day Hub .

mrsdarcy · 06/07/2007 13:43

Happy birthday Camille

hub2dee · 06/07/2007 14:58

Thank you kind ladies.

Mum is working today, daddy has his darling. We did our singing group thingy this morning; Camille has been sung to several times (awww) and she's been sleeping all afternoon !

Hoping to upload a final album soonish to celebrate the last few months and then allow her to grow up a little more privately ! Will post when I've sorted it.

merryberry · 06/07/2007 15:06

Happy Birthday Hattie

mrsdarcy · 15/07/2007 22:28

Thanks Bagpuss

She knew it was a big day for her and behaved horribly in church, then fell asleep for her party lunch (just family - nothing big). But the rest of us enjoyed it!

Her new word is...

EXTERMINATE

hoxtonchick · 17/07/2007 21:44

Hello folks. at the new 'clever' words your little ones are saying.

Just a quickie as its ds1's birthday tomorrow so busy cake making and last minute shopping. Weather looks like it will be nice for the pool party.

Holiday was great and it was sunny nearly all the time although it rained all the way driivng back home. Quite an experience and felt very Swallows and Amazons-ish at times. ds1 and dd enjoyed helping with the ropes and opening the sluice gates at the locks. ds1 even steered the boat and did very well. They did get bored at times though and at one stage ds2 pulled all the pans out of the cupboard and they all bashed them with the utensils, what a racket! Had to watch ds2 like a hawk obviously but he enjoyed it and took to waving at people passing on their boats. Visited a few nice pubs in tiny villages, picturesque with thatched roofs.

dh is going abroad again on Sunday so will miss ds2's birthday Was going to have a party here but the dining room is nowhere near finished and I am not doing it on my own so a bit stumped for what to do.

hoxtonchick · 18/07/2007 18:38

sounds like you had a great holiday eulalia. my bil & sil live on a boat & i twitch so badly whenever we take the children there (ds is fine, dd is a total liability....). she is pg now so i'll be watching with interest!

oh, i love the night garden, both children are chuckling wildly at it. whilst chomping down my rather delicious lasagne. i should by tidying up really.....

DiamondsAreForever · 23/07/2007 14:45

Hello all,
long time no post and it's really nice to see the thread busy again- although it's just taken me the best part of lunch hour to catch up!
Happy Birthday to all the babes and a belated welcome to Dragonheart, whose ds shares my dd's birthday on Thursday.

Just wanted to let all the London babies know that Justin Fletcher from Cbeebies (dd's absolute favourite) is hosting a story session at Hamleys on Thursday- you call them up and reserve tickets- it's free. It's to launch the In The Night Garden toy range (another of dd's favourites!). It's her birthday too and I got tickets- she's going to have a mini-meltdown as they said they'd do something special for her. If anyone else fancies getting tickets it would be lovely to see you there- and share in Dulcie's birthday celebrations! We're going to the London Aquarium afterwards too.

anyway, have lots of news but also have to get back to work so I'll catch up soon.
hope you're all well and lastly:

Congratulations MB!!!! Fantastic news! Fingers crossed for a healthy and happy pg. Crack open the Green & Blacks!

Eulalia · 05/08/2007 18:56

It's gone quiet here again. Had no computer for 2 weeks as ours broke - dh only just got back from abroad and fixed it

ds2's birthday last Sunday and as no dh I saw most of my family. We had planned on a picnic in the park with a live band at the bandstand. It was a bit showery so the band was moved into the Winter Gardens. However to begin with it was a bit like a situation comedy as we kept on losing each other. But we finally ended up sitting having our picnic amongst the cacti where it was nice and warm (you can see where we sat here The David Welch Winter Gardens" I am sure we weren't supposed to eat indoors or drink sparkling wine for that matter but no-one bothered us The sun came out and it got too hot so we went outside and the kids were able to play on the swings. It was a lovely evening and ds2 didn't actually get his cake till about 8pm.

Catch up more later, ds2 has just knocked the dvd player over.

BTW anyone else started potty training yet - ds is showing signs....

merryberry · 23/09/2007 22:20

hi all, anyone out there? can see it's gotten very quiet, presumably we're all off on dead glam extended holidays?

cough

ds is 26 months and more fun to be with than i ever expected, making the two-year-old-i-could-strangle-us-both moments increasingly easy to deal with, thank feck.

i'm using facebook now, using merry berry as my name there, anyone else around?

Helloooo! Merryberry. I thought I had killed the thread! How are you? How's your pregnancy progressing?

I'll chat more later. I have some school parent forum work to do this morning (((yawn)))

merryberry · 26/09/2007 10:02

i'm good thank you, 17 weeks now, feeling some squirimng, MS went 2 weeks ago, praise be. having a nice bloom at present. shame about stinking cold!

how are you? how's the new school year shaping up? any big changes?

Eulalia · 28/09/2007 09:34

Yes we are all fine thanks. dd started school and is settling in nicely. She is well past 5 so was more than ready for it. ds1 did have a few problems moving into the senior class (school only has 2 classes) after having hte same teacher for 3 years but seems to be settling at last.

ds2 is just gorgeous. No terrible 2's as of yet. He smiles at everyone when we are out. Take him to toddler group and started Gym Teds which he loves. Its nice just having one at home again.

Started potty training a couple of days ago and he's used it a few times so going well there. He's still hardly talking but will come out with whole sentences which is strange - we told him "poo in there" and now he says it everytime he sees the potty.

Anyone else around?

bagpuss · 28/09/2007 09:45

Hellllooooo! .

Totally forgot about this thread! Apologies .

Glad to hear all is well with you both and merryberry 17 weeks already, where does the time fly?

All is great here, ds2 is fab fun (agree with you there mb) and can't seem to stop talking . Haven't tried potty training but I suspect I'm going to leave it until he is two and a half which will be the new year.

Does anyone want to start a new thread? See if we can tempt a few others out of the woodwork .

merryberry · 09/10/2007 14:18

Out of the mouths of babes:

We get back at lunchtime, ds steps in the door.
Looks around the hall floor, dramatically opens arms, shrugs at lack of post and says:

?No postman pat?

And toddles off echoing 'Yeymamma, postman pat strike. strike. naughty postman pat.'

gosh your ds speaks so well MB. mine has just started to finally use words instead of pointing and squawking but its slow going.

Well I just got the fright of my life. Walked into the kitchen to find dd hiding under the table with a tablespoon containing some white stuff with a straw poked into it. For a split second I thought she was snorting something! Turned out to be icing sugar she was attempting to suck out of a straw!

mrsdarcy · 19/10/2007 20:58

Hello everyone . I haven't posted on this thread for ages. I hope you're all ok.

Well, I have to admit that I am finding DD extremely difficult. If she isn't pulling someone's hair she is having a tantrum. I thought she was peaking but then she started putting small things in her mouth.

I worry that the poor boys are suffering becuase of it, as I am reluctant to go out as I know I will spend the whole time either chasing her or manhandling her into her pushchair.

I'm pregnant again (only just, so not counting my chickens) so the hormones probably don't help.

I know it's just a phase and she isn't doing anything that's perfectly normal for a 2 year old, but it is so exhausting.

bagpuss · 22/10/2007 10:42

Huge congratulations mrsd .

After all I said in my previous post we are now in the throws of potty training. Will come back later and update you all properly.

Eulalia · 27/10/2007 11:56

CONGRATULATIONS MRS D!
