HAPPY 2007!
Erm, we had a quiet one, thank gawd. I am no good with booze nowadays. Went out every night for 8 nights before Xmas eve and could not handle a single drink by the last two nights.
How are you all feeling as the new year opens up? I quit my job end of the month, and start the next one pretty much straight off. Have house stuff to sort out, I hope we can exchange soon. DP is away a lot this month as well, business trips up north. I wonder how'll well get on, this is new for us.
DaF, how's new motherhood going this time round?

Gosh you lot were up late last night. I'm afraid I was too busy enjoying a cuppa and some maya gold watching the apprentice before bed. Thanks for bumping anyway hub. Will pass on comments about camera gadgets to Mr bagpuss as well . I'm not sure, however, that much camera buying will be being done just yet as I have just had to 'fess up about a covert shopping expedition to the Gap yesterday to dh who wasn't best pleased.

Mrsd, am so sorry to hear about your mc. I was going to e-mail you actually as I did see your name pop up in active convos a few times but didn't want to bother you too much as I wasn't sure if you were having some time off mn. Pleased you are feeling better though . lol @ pie shop.

What's happening with ds2 now then? Well, he's deeply in love with Thomas the Tank Engine and all things train related and quite likes Maisy too. We finally managed to get him to agree to new shoes over easter which was a relief. His sleeping at night is pretty good and we bought him a duvet recently which has made daytime naps really easy as he loves snuggling down under the covers and pretty much stays put for anything up to two hours if I'm lucky!

I don't think we will bother with a party as such but will probably have a sort of family thing with cake etc. Might try and make a TTTE cake as I'm not keen on the ones in supermarkets but we'll see.

DiamondsAreForever · 10/05/2007 14:15

hello again!
firstly, sorry to hear your news mrsd, hope you're well.

we've all been unwell here recently- viral gastroenteritis- and poor dd has had it the worst, she's been really poorly. but we're all more or less on the mend now. it certainly hasn't hindered her vocab- she had me in fits last night as she sang nursery rhymes in a very cute fashion.

sorry for the lower case typing btw- have ds bouncing on knee- he's in a mood and constipated so there's very strange noises going on against my thigh. how very glamorous...
however he is now the size of a small house- in 6-9mnth clothes already at 4.5mnths. what a corker!

oh blimey- exposion in pants- must razz. post soon and love to all xx

Gosh our Jul 05 thread has got a bit busy!
Hello everyone.

Glad to hear that everyone is doing OK but really sorry to hear about your m/c Mrs D and hope that Daf's family are truly on the mend now. Eulalia - hope you haven't been too stretched with your DH away. How did your DD's birthday go?

Can't believe our little ones are going to be 2 soon. Where did all the time go?
Harry is still a dynamo - sleeps about 11 - 12 hours at night but rarely sleeps in the day so I am pretty much on the go all day! Today he walked loads in the hope of knackering him out but still no sleep in the day. Had his hair cut today as he was beginning to look a bit girly but I have still left it quite long. He was so well behaved in the hairdressers so at least I feel I can return to the hairdressers another time! DS1 used to scream the whole place down for about 2 years and so we used to use clippers at home. Thankfully now at 6 he is fine!

Not much proper talking from H yet but he defo understands everything. Not worrying too much as ds1 was very slow to talk - now he doesn't stop!

Off to Florida soon so any tips on how to entertain a very active Harry on a 9 and a half hour plane journey gratefully recieved!

xx

dd has decided she's coming out of nappies. has just done 2 wees on a potty . i am so not ready for this! ds v. keen though, he's doing more work than dp or i....

dd's talking quite a lot now, up to 3 word sentences. it's amazing what you can convey with that many words - she is very bossy. singing too, which is very sweet.

lots of running & climbing & general minxy behaviour. we have had 2 trips to casualty in the past 6 weeks, have never taken ds at all!

we will just have friends & cake & a paddling pool in the garden for her birthday. it's such a good time of year for parties (ds's birthday is january so i'm looking forward to not having the house too trashed).

she loves drawing & dollies & chasing her brother. almost 2 is such a cute age .

hoxtonchick · 12/05/2007 19:37

oh, & she can jump .

mrsdarcy · 12/05/2007 20:32

It's so sweet isn't it?

DD sings Baa Baa Black Sheep and Row Row Row the Boat. And when she's being a monkey she says 2rock n roll" . I know that sounds as though we are such Dad-on-the-dancefloor embarassing types but honestly I have no idea where she got the expression from!

hoxtonchick · 12/05/2007 20:51

oh what a sweetie she sounds mrsd.

i have remembered dd's other favourite thing. fuzzy felt. many happy minutes spent with it, hooray.

Bagpuss30 · 13/05/2007 09:59

Hoxton, can dd teach ds2 to jump please? He still hasn't mastered the trampoline at Tumbletots although he seems terribly amused with my trying to teach him .

ds2 likes Row Row Row the Boat too, mrsd. His words aren't terribly clear at all but he manages to make himself understood really well. He likes the alternitive ending "if you see a crocodile don't forget to scream" [arghh]

You are right, nearly 2 is a fab age .

mrsdarcy · 16/05/2007 11:31

We do Row Row Row at swimming. They sit on a great big float and when we get to "don't forget to scream" we tip them off. They love it!

Eulalia · 23/05/2007 15:55

Helloooo.... had nearly given up on this thread.

Sorry to hear of your MC Mrs D

dh is back after a 7 week stint abroad which was hard at times. However he came back 48 hours and we headed off for a last minute holiday - a week in Spain, just got back on Sunday. Was lovely to get to know each other again... in more ways than one ifywim and feel rather foolish being so old, only once but that's all it takes [gulp]...

dd had a great birthday thanks webwoman. She's just started the induction process for school in Aug. ds1 moves into the senior class so they'll be in separate classes. ds2 is doing fine, getting a little easier I hestitate to say with his climbing/exploring but still no talking. Actually am amazed to read of the talking skills here but he is the youngest here I tell myself.

He loves dd's bags and her dolls pushchair and 'reads' books which is so sweet.

Naps - one per day of anything between 45mins - 2 hours depenidng on how much sleep he got at night and what I am diong with the other children regarding nursery/trips out etc.

He is still tiny - in fact had a carry on with his car seat as I just moved him onto a forward facing seat but the straps are too slack on his body. Got a special velcro strip thingie to tighten the straps but he's learned how to pull it off, same probs with the pushchair so any suggestions welcomed.

mrsdarcy · 23/05/2007 20:33

Hi Eulalia

Glad you managed to get a holiday. 7 weeks without your DH must have been difficult.

So are you going to be the second one on the thread to give a July 05 baby a little sibling?

Eulalia · 24/05/2007 10:29

Noooooo....! actually don't know why I mentioned it except perhaps just to have an outlet... seems like ages till I can know for sure. Don't actually want any more children. Anyway no point in thinking about it as I may have nothing to think about anyway!

bagpuss · 24/05/2007 19:33

Eulalia. Welcome back, I am very of your holiday, I would love to get away just now.

mrsdarcy · 24/05/2007 21:55

we're going away tomorrow Bagpuss and I am going to be up all night sorting things out and packing, and I'll still forget something important. So right now I don't want to go at all. Actually, I would love to go on holiday but on my own

Eulalia · 30/05/2007 13:49

I hope you are somewhere nice Mrs D away from this dreadful weather. We don't have half term here as we finish term early July.

Well have just started bleeding ... shit shit... and its a bit early for my period (difficult to tell for sure as they've not really settled down yet). Last two times I had implantation bleeding. I'll know for sure soon as if it stops then that's what it is.. Oh god I feel so daft, would you believe it I forgot to pack condoms on holiday and I was going to get contraception sorted out when we got back when my periods settled down which they are just starting to do. I feel really crap about this actually but stupid as well like I am a grown woman. Anyway watch this space and so sorry to moan on!

bagpuss · 30/05/2007 16:53

Oh Eulalia, I hope you get the result you want.

We are stuck in the house as ds1 and ds2 both appear to have chicken pox. DH has taken the week off work and we were planning some lovely trips out but all our plans have had to be shelved. Having said that I took dd out to a new soft play place this morning and we had lunch there which was really nice. ds2 is currently being consoled with a numberjacks dvd (latest obsession) and a digestive biscuit. I honestly wouldn't think he had chicken pox but for four blisters in his nappy area - can it really be this mild?

DiamondsAreForever · 31/05/2007 14:06

Hello all,
Just writing this as I am now back at work again- boo hoo, it sucks and as I have definitely had my last baby I am now facing 30 years of full time work with no more breaks- how very depressing. Unless of course I get the sack for abusing company computers by writing messages on mumsnet!
My dh and I have swopped roles- he's now a SAHD! He was going to quit anyway then they offered him redundancy- which we were overjoyed about- we can get a new car now, hoorah!
So he's having his first week at home and really enjoying it! I'm here and very jealous as I'd much rather be with the children. However, I've just been told that I'm off to Madrid with work in July so it's not all bad is it?!
DD is an absolute joy at the moment, she's dancing, singing and talking non-stop- but the other night she fell out of bed and cracked her front tooth- I was absolutely mortified and she was howling. I still feel really guilty as we have only just taken the side off her cot bed. Maybe we did it too soon, I don't know.
anyway, better get back to it- will be back in touch more now I get breaks!

Eulalia · 01/06/2007 09:26

Hi DaF - you'll soon stop feeling jealous when you are off to Madrid. Will be hot though. Hope your dd is Ok and yes maybe too early to take the sides of the cot!

Bagpuss - how are your boys? Is it definately chickenpox. None of mine have had it yet.

Well sorry about all the drama - I definately have my period! Actually this has helped me to focus on the fact that I definately don't want more children and am looking forward to things being a bit easier. ds1 is 8 next month and its been a long haul - the spacing of my kids is such that I've not had enough time to call it a break between them and not close enough together to 'get it over with' quickly. I am still really enjoying ds2 and couldn't bear for him to usurped - still breastfeeding him and as he's so tiny he's still like a baby (except when he runs away of course!) He's the most gorgeous smiley and friendly child and I don't have room physically/emotionally for any more. Besides I don't feel at all broody - want my twin sister to have her much longed for baby soon though.

Eulalia · 01/06/2007 09:28

I had ds2 weighed yesterday - just turned 22 months and he's just 22.10lbs /10.28K.

bagpuss · 01/06/2007 10:02

Definitely Chicken Pox, Eulalia. In fact we are just waiting for the nurse at the doctor's surgery to call back about an antiviral jab for ds1 as he is immunocompromised because of his heart condition . His is the worst and he woke us at 4.30 this morning crying and complaining that they hurt. Ds2 still only really has them in his groin area but also has a few on his neck, tummy and head. Hopefully his will be quite mild. He is concentrating his efforts on being a pest and shouting at the top of his voice and generally doing things he shouldn't .

Eulalia, you do sound relieved, by the way. I know what you mean about ds2 being usurped, I'm the same. FWIW we have had a few close calls since ds2 was born and, no matter how broody I feel, when it comes down to it I am certainly not ready for all that again!

Daf, I hope work is treating you well and that you are not too fed up. Your trip in July sounds good, lucky you .

Eulalia · 03/06/2007 09:19

I do hope they are better soon bagpuss, quite a worry for your ds1. What about your daughter?

bagpuss · 04/06/2007 07:59

Thanks Eulalia. dd had them before half term and it was only very mild so quite straightforward really. ds1 has had some antiviral medication and is getting better now. ds2 is now covered head to toe in spots .

Dragonhart · 04/06/2007 21:40

I know it is really late in the day to join but I have a little boy, born on the 26th July 05 and was wondering if you minded if I joined in?

I also have a 5month old daughter, born 5th Jan 07 so my days are pretty busy!

DS is becoming a nightmare recently so was looking for some moral support as the 'terrible twos' approach!

Eulalia · 06/06/2007 14:44

Hi Dragonhart!

Recovering from a horrible summer cold just now (sniff, cough)

bagpuss · 06/06/2007 16:43

Get well soon Eulalia .

Welcome Dragonhart, feel free to pitch in whenever .
