HAPPY 2007!
Erm, we had a quiet one, thank gawd. I am no good with booze nowadays. Went out every night for 8 nights before Xmas eve and could not handle a single drink by the last two nights.
How are you all feeling as the new year opens up? I quit my job end of the month, and start the next one pretty much straight off. Have house stuff to sort out, I hope we can exchange soon. DP is away a lot this month as well, business trips up north. I wonder how'll well get on, this is new for us.
DaF, how's new motherhood going this time round?

Belated Happy Birthday mrsd .

ds2 has been scalped at the barber's in an ordeal that took over half an hour of screaming and shouting . The same happened at the shoe shop yesterday too when he refused to have his feet measured. He is getting so independant and obviously has fixed ideas about what he likes and doesn't!

He has learnt a new phrase - "Oh no!" which he says whenever things aren't going his way which is practically all the time .

merryberry, nice to hear from you and that you are destressing. We've been poorly too with lots of colds and stuff but on the mend now thankfully.

Hub, dd's dress is gorgeous, she will look lovely I'm sure

merryberry · 24/02/2007 12:29

ds's 'oh no' really sounds as if the sky has just fallen in, does yours?

his 'oh dear' over spilt things sounds completely unconcerned

Hello all from stress-ville!
Hope everyone's well. We've all been hit by a nasty bug, mine's developed into a chest/throat/ear infection which I have now just managed to get some antibiotics for (rubbish doctor after three visits over 3 weeks- 'I think you've suffered enough now'- thanks very much for making me struggle with two babies you oik)
Both babies have rivers of snot but seem happy enough!
ds is getting better- he still feeds every 3/4 hours in the day but is now sleeping at night, so we're a lot happier. He is the size of a 3 month old though at 9 weeks- bring on the solids I say!!!

Happy belated birthday MrsD and good luck with any happy accidents you may have in the baby department this year!

dd is fabulous as always and is non stop chat. Yesterday I was eating a hot cross bun and she said 'more cake please mummy' with her butter-wouldn't-melt smile... of course she got some! She's also been asked to be a flower girl this summer- I am so excited! I've never been a bridesmaid so here's my chance as a pushy mother to re-live my childhood through my daughter. How fabulous!!!

anyway, must get back to it. Making dd some meatballs to fling across the room along with her weetabix, banana, teddies...

have a nice weekend everyone!

Eulalia · 28/02/2007 15:22

Hello - hope everyone is getting over the winter colds. We've had them too but fairly mild thankfully. I've not been feeling too great though and went to the doctor about sore hips and was told that I am doing too much lifting children, housework etc and I have to take more rest. Which of course is impossible. ds1 has been quite difficult lately and I've had to lift/drag him a few times (all 4 stone of him). I am on my feet all day and often don't sit down at all in the evening

ds2 is still a wee toot - had him weighed a couple of weeks ago at 21.14lbs. He hardly ate for weeks with the cold and also had his MMR which made him off colour.

And ds1 cut his hair the other evening! poor thing has been scalped! Actually its not as bad as it could have been.

dd is getting 'homework' from nursery and loves it. She carries her little bag around and is currently teaching herself how to write.

dh is very busy at work and no idea when we can take a holiday in the near future. We are considering a canal boat in the summer as I don't want another holiday running up and down the beach after the children (particularly as there is one extra to run after this year!)

mrsdarcy · 28/02/2007 20:36

I would worry about children jumping off the side of a canal boat. Does that happen?

DD has got a lovely new word: broccoli . She doesn't have very many words, and I don't think is anything like as vocal as some of the July 05 babies, but she is doing very well with broccoli.

She spends a lot of the day asking for Dadyy ("Dadn") and today I was able truthfully to say to her "Daddy is in a pie shop in Wigan". She wasn't able to repeat it, but I plan to persevere until she does

4 stone of boy to carry must really put a strain on you, Eulalia. I hope you are able to get some help.

Boo to your doctor, DaF. Chest infections are so debilitating. Hope you feel better.

webwoman05 · 18/03/2007 21:27

Hello everyone!

Thought I'd just pop in and say hello. It is certainly very quiet on this thread.

Happy Mother's Day to you all. I do hope you have all been looked after today. We had afternoon tea round at ours today to celebrate with the 2 Grandmas so I was quite busy but I did have a lie in this morning and had breakfast cooked for me which was very nice! Lots of flowers, cards etc and Webwoman has permission from Webman to buy herself some nice expensive neck and face cream to try a turn back the yearsWell it will be cheaper than a face lift!

Harry is a delight; very cheeky and certainly keeps me on my toes and is a real Mummy's Boy which is lovely. We are still bf at night just before bed but will probably think about dropping that feed quite soon which I feel a little sad about as our family is now complete, so no more babies for us

I can't believe what little characters all the Jul 05 babies are developing into - such a lovely age!

Love to all.

xx

Eulalia · 19/03/2007 13:39

Hello webwoman - nice to hear your news. Your mothers day sounded great.

Mine was just an ordinary day although dh did cook dinner.

We have booked the canal boat holiday - I know we'll have to watch the kids all the time but it'll be easier than running up and down the beach - at least they are contained in a small area - andyes there are risks but they have lifejackets - water not very deep anyway.

dh is going away with is work soon for 12 days - arggh My carer is back from hols soon so will have plenty of hours for her to help out a bit.

ds1 has started on melatonin at night which does get him off to sleep quickly but still not early enough.

webwoman05 · 19/03/2007 19:02

Hi Eulalia

Good for you having booked your holiday - I hope you manage to have an easier time than running up and down the beach! When ds1 was about 4 and I was expecting Harry we went on my cousin's boat in Florida (just for a couple of hours!) and the hardest thing I found was actually getting ds1 to wear his life jacket! But luckily my cousin explained to him that we couldn't move until he put it on - he was alright after that!

Hope the melatonin helps with your ds1's sleep and that your carer gives you lots of help when your DH is away.

HI everyone- where has everyone gone?! Come back!
Hope all are well.
Babies here doing well, apart from dd has gone a bit funny over me and won't really let me out of her sight at the moment, unless Noddy is on TV. Yes, I am a terrible mother and have the unpaid babysitter on- I have to otherwise I don't even get to the bathroom without dd throwing a wobbler! She's also gone a bit funny at bedtime after months of settling herself all of a sudden she wants loads of cuddles and hand holding. I really don't know what is going on! I have also had a few nights having to sleep on the floor next to her cot as she wakes up screaming for me in the night. all very tiring indeed. I keep telling myself it's just anothe phase that we need to work through. Other than that she's an absolute delight- running around, talking non stop and looking like a little angel! ds is starting to really thrive and is well over 15 pounds already at 13 wks. what a corker!
We are having a Naming Ceremony for them at the town hall in May so I am spending my last month or so of maternity leave organising the party. What fun! They sent me through the sample ceremony and I can't even look at it without blubbling- it's so beautiful and just what we want to say to our two babes. I am going to have to read it every day for a few weeks before to steel myself so I don't cry like a loon throughout. Honestly, it's worse than getting married!
I'm just ordering them two personalised Emma Bridgewater baby feeding sets as our 'Naming gifts'- I hope they will like them when they're older. dh and I are also buying each other new rings to replace our wedding rings- we ran out of money before we got hitched and always said that the rings we bought we'd replace one day- I think now our family is complete is the time to do it. What a pair of old softies!
Anyway, off to have a glass of wine now, on my own on a friday night- what a saddo!
come back everyone- let's get back together!

merryberry · 10/04/2007 19:19

Waves frantically<

Missing you +++

Moved house 2 weeks ago, problems with BT line = no broadband. Due on any day soon.

Will come back and catch up properly then.

Now, don't get me started about the John Lewis carpet people

OP posts:
mrsdarcy · 11/04/2007 11:48

helloooo

Hope the house move has gone well MB. What is the new house like? In the same part of London?

DD has turned into Dudley Dursley. Her top words are Mine and More. Also Mam (with a James Brown growl) which means "jam".

She races around the house causing destruction wherever she goes. She has started drawing on things so we are hiding all the pens. She has also taken a fancy to the Dalek voicebox that came with one of the Easter eggs so we can always find her by listening out for "exterminate"!

Your naming ceremony sounds lovely DaF. And I love Emma Bridgewater. What nice presents. DH has gone mad in the potteries factory shops so we have a house full of huge serving plates, cake plates, soup turreens etc etc. When DH likes something he likes it a great deal, and in quantity

Hello to everyone else too

Eulalia · 14/04/2007 10:58

Hello - nice to see the thread coming alive a bit.

Just a quickie as I am busy today with dd's birthday party. She is 5 on Monday, can't believe it

dh is away for 5 weeks working abroad so its been quite hard on my own. Holidays have been good though with the great weather and have been to the beach several times.

Hope to hear from others soon.

hub2dee · 09/05/2007 22:00

Bumping this into May !

Hi all.

E - a few more weeks solo. Blimey. You must be knackered.

mb / hc - let's do sommat soon, eh ?

hiya mrs d. Our girls sound similar lol.

I'm not on MN much if at all anymore - busy with RL and working towards launching my photography stuff... I'll pop back occasionally though !

hub2dee · 09/05/2007 22:05

So... what's everyone's plans for second birthday parties ?

dw wants a Maisy theme, and to be fair, dd loves Maisy and does a faily cute sing-song 'Mai-sy, mai-sy, mai-sy' (awww) but I think themeing / commercial characters etc. this young is just a bit but I imagine she will win this battle lol.

mrsdarcy · 09/05/2007 22:06

How nice - I was scanning active convos and up popped this one for the first time in ages.

I have recently had an early miscarriage. I'm fine (really!) but felt very fuzzy about my imaginary friends with whom I can talk babies .

DD still adores DH and is beginning to nod in agreement when I say "Daddy is in a pie shop in Wigan"

hub2dee · 09/05/2007 22:10

pmsl @ the pie shop. And so sorry to hear about your mc.

mrsdarcy · 09/05/2007 22:14

Parties...well, one of DD's favourite toys is a weebles barn dance (we didn't buy it, it was a present!) and she loves dancing to it. So insofar as we'll have any theme at all we might have some hoe down music for her to jig around to.

I'm not really keen on themes or pink so won't go OTT. She loves party dresses though so she'll get dressed up and have lots and lots of balloons.

mrsdarcy · 09/05/2007 22:18

Thank Hub
Oh, and if anyone is pg/planning don't get all sensitive about it on my account - I want to know!

hub2dee · 09/05/2007 22:20

A nice frock would be fine, and lots of balloons would also be fine, and I suppose some Maisy songs playing would be fine, even showing a Maisy DVD, but I just don't want the whole cake / napkins / cuttlery / cards being about this lovely mouse lol. We need to compare dance moves. dd just does odd hip / bum shakes, and a turning round and round thang.

hoxtonchick · 09/05/2007 23:04

really sorry to hear your news mrsd . hope you are recovering.

dd currently on my knee so will post properly tomorrow. hope all well.

hub2dee · 09/05/2007 23:10

lol @ knee. We had a very late night the night before last IIRC. 10:40 or so was bedtime I think. She had had the world's biggest afternoon nap...

Speaking of naps: where are we all on naps ?

If I do an activity with dd in the AM, drive (a short distance) home to lunch, and then do something like the park straight after, I'm more or less guaranteed an afternoon nap of 1 1/2 - 2 hours, which I reckon is very handy indeed.

If she falls asleep in the AM (say we're on a slightly longer car trip or whatever she will reduce the PM nap or drop it altogether.

Today was odd though - she woke up early (5ish ?), was not tired at all, watched some DVDs, then slept with me till 10. Fantastic lie in ! Went through the day with no nap.

mrsdarcy · 09/05/2007 23:23

DD usually has about an hour in the morning, but often gets reduced to 10 minutes or so - just to keep me on my toes! She's good at night now, for which I am incredibly grateful.

Thanks HC. I really am fine. It was v early on and was obvious what was going on - no false hope, IYSWIM.

hoxtonchick · 09/05/2007 23:24

dd now my knee & eating the remains of my takeaway.......... am baaaaaaaad mother.

lulumama · 09/05/2007 23:26

sorry to hear that mrsd

hope everyone else is ok

re naps: DD has a 2 hours sleep, from 12 - 2 , after having got up at 6 ish...and we do an activity, mums and tots, or soemthing with friends, family in the morning, then she sleeps....by the time she is up, and had a snack, it is school run time, and that is it until bedtime around 6.30....

she is just starting to say a few words....

hub2dee · 09/05/2007 23:28

lol hc. baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaacd

The price we pay, btw, for a nice afternoon nap is a bed time of precisely 8:10 - more or less WHATEVER we do, dd falls asleep at ten past eight.

dd is also now good at night mrsd. It's a sodding relief lol.
