*dummy not funny- it was t remotely funny!!

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 25/11/2015 22:35

Argh! Exactly a year ago today my last pre-pregnancy period started and to celebrate I've only blinking well gone and started my first post-pregnancy period. Exactly a year off the old AF. You can tell I'm a Virgo, even my cycle is organised to the point of anally retentive!!

nolongerwaitingfornumber2 · 25/11/2015 22:36

Sorry guys, I have been reading but not had chance to post. We have definitely hit full on sleep regression and my toddler is going through a very trying phase with lots of tantrums and tears. It's exhausting at the best of times and even worse when you've been awake since 3 trying to settle the baby.

Giraffes, that must have been so scary. Glad all is ok.

Rrra, really pleased your DS is none the worse for his hospital stay.

Fatty, that's brilliant! Nathan looks thrilled. My DD fed peanut butter on toast to DS the other day! At least I know he doesn't have a nut allergy now Grin

Mzzf, I think you deserve a decent night's sleep! I get those "feelings" too though and they are generally right.

Tindel, that's great that your hv was so helpful.

We will probably do our tree next weekend. I need to make some space for it though too. I'd forgotten how much room baby gyms and play mats take up! I love Christmas and even though we'll probably be going to the in laws this year I will definitely decorate our place. I just hope DD doesn't trash it in her current mood!

Frolicacid · 25/11/2015 22:46

I forgot to say a big WELCOME to perpetual!
Come join the fun. Have you got any good food?!

Joskar · 25/11/2015 22:49

Tree not til a week maybe 10 days before Christmas. We go to choose it and cut it all together though so it's quite exciting.

So hungry. So, so hungry. Have I got worms?! What the hell?! I'm a big, fat heifer. I should be using up my stored fat. Bloody ridiculous this.

I hear you nolonger. We had a very bad day yesterday. Stress-o-rama. Ended up loading them into the car and driving around for half an hour til they were asleep then parking up and reading my book and eating chocolate. A precious twenty five minutes before they woke up and started all over again.

I have a side car cot (v cheap off Amazon) that I can slide her into if I need space but she's often just in between us. All good. I don't stress about it.

Sleepy thoughts to the babies.

Tindel · 25/11/2015 23:09

Does anyone dreamfeed? J fed about 8.30 for about 5 minutes and passed out. He's still asleep now, but tempted to feed him before I go to sleep to get a longer sleep. He does look incredibly peaceful and cute, having thrashed about both awake and asleep for the past 2 hours. Not sure I should wake him, but would really love a decent run of sleep tonight

kbro79 · 25/11/2015 23:30

We do although I have not fully got the knack of keeping him asleep properly. I think it helps but you never know with these babies. worth a try?

kbro79 · 25/11/2015 23:36

I found this helpful about how to do it www.emmasdiary.co.uk/baby/breastfeeding/dreamfeeding

kbro79 · 25/11/2015 23:47

Oh and some light hearted reading to go with a JD and coke in magabues tonight

nolongerwaitingfornumber2 · 26/11/2015 00:00

Yes welcome Perpetual! V envious of you having your baby in July. I had a July due date but ended up with an August baby!

Kbro, love that article! Hilarious and very true. My letterbox will never be the same again!!

Ha ha Joskar I do the "make them nap" drive too. Went round the M60 the other week!

About to attempt the stealth crib transfer now. See you all for a boogie in the small hours I'm sure Confused

mzzzf · 26/11/2015 02:00

Kbro - no offence whatsoever!!

Yup I'm starting tasting rather than full on eat all the baby foods at the weekend. Mini mzzzf is constantly trying to grab what I put in my mouth or helpfully whack glasses/cups when I drink from them. She took a comedy gummy chomp from a banana the other day whilst I holding her and the banana in the same hand as I signed for mail. I'll get her onto baby porridge etc before 6 months as she's a starvin marvin and currently smashing about a litre of that thick reflux milk a day. But for now literally just swirl around the mouth tasting of a couple of teaspoons a day. Plus it'll give me something else to do with her. Anyone else's baby getting uber frustrated at not being able to move about as they'd like. She's nailed the rolling but literally shouts at toys if they're out of reach and she can't get them by lurching forward.

Oh god 2am baby brain and I've forgotten who said what. Except Joskar - a book!! Sheer heaven would be an hour reading...o can but dream!!

Periods - suck!!!!
Loving the tree talk ladies. Was thinking of chopping our own one down too but we're trying to be a bit frugal so it's unlikely I blooming LOVE that smell though.

Right she's had her feed, time to transfer.... fungets crossed

Tindel · 26/11/2015 03:26

Well, I wimped out, so am feeding now. Will read the link in the meantime kbro

mzzf we have a rooted tree which we bought the year we moved in together. It lives in the garden most of the year, but is a bit bald in patches and not the most impressive of trees, but we like it.

Right off to the bar for a Southern comfort and lemonade, as I haven't had it for years and then I'm off for a boogie to something cheesy...

Tindel · 26/11/2015 03:37

Sorry for double post, not sure what happened there. Even talking about drinks is sending me loopy ... Am sneakily looking forward to getting drunk again at some point Grin

Lilydreams · 26/11/2015 04:37

Never mastered dreamfeeding Tindel I think possibly because I never fully committed to it/ we're very baby led here so kind of thought if he was hungry he'd wake. Like he just has done for a night feed- that's 3 nights in a row! Looks like it's definately back then. Looked at the wonder weeks thing earlier- we're approaching week 27 which has a big stormy cloud so at least it makes sense. Funny that they say it should be from due date but he appears to behave exactly in line with it from his birth date even though he was early!

Mzzf- love the sound of the banana chimp sounds v. Cute! Mini Mzzf sounds very ahead of DS- he doesn't roll- hasn't even attempted it since he tried the other week. He does get very shouty at toys though and loves 'standing up' and can sit support quite well. Thei different aren't they- I have to keep reminding me!

Perpetual- just read about your LO's sleep on a sleep thread- no sleep regression for you then- I'm extremely jealous and guessing we won't be seeing you in the bar!!

Yes yes yes to whoever mentioned soco and lemo! Mmmmmm

Tindel I'm actually terrified of getting drunk again as I know the associated hangover will remind me so much of morning (all day) sickness I'm not sure if be able o handle it. After being so sick with no control over it I don't think I ever want to be sick again if I can prevent it!

Periods- I got off very lightly (no pun intended) they finally returned a couple of weeks ago just as I was starting to worry- 5 days and just normal no bloodbath as if been expecting the first one plus copper coil to give me! I'll probably end up eating my words again next month now!!

Come on DS be kind stay asleep till my alarm now- that would be a blissful 3 hours of sleep.....yeh right!!!

Lilydreams · 26/11/2015 04:38

*Week 17 obviously!!! I really need to start proof reading my posts!!

loveandsmiles · 26/11/2015 07:04

tindel good that HV was so nice and supportive

lily love a Yankee Candle - definitely got an Xmas Cookie one on my list! My DD shows no interest in food either - will wait until the 6month mark - happy to avoid the additional work and mess until as long as possible!!

Xmas trees - we usually put ours up a couple of weeks before Xmas mzzzf. It's because it's DSs birthday on the 8th (bad timing for a birthday - DD3 is on the 29th Dec - more bad timing!) and like to make his birthday special before looking forward to Xmas so like you with your sister lily

Have the usual rage at DH - take 4DCs and baby to swimming club last night leaving him at home with toddler - get home at 8.30pm and toddler is sound asleep on sofa, dressed in full Elsa (Frozen) costume having had no bath and DH snoring beside her - wake him up and he tells me how shattered he is - really??? Words fail me......

sianihedgehog · 26/11/2015 07:04

Lilydreams I've found the same thing with the wonder weeks and due date vs birth date. DS was a week late, but seems to follow for his birth date, not his due date.

Giraffes sounds very scary for you with baby giraffe, glad all is OK!

Still no sign of periods here. Not going to worry unless it goes past 6 months, though. Ds is still exclusively breastfed on demand, not expressing for bottles or offering formula at all, and I think that delays them more.

No repeat of last night's amazing sleep here, I've been up since half three with DS not sleeping more than 10 minutes when I try putting him down, and sicking all over his grobag. :(

Tree: I usually get a real one, and I love having the full 12 days thing - the bit between Christmas and new year (my friend calls it "the festive perineum" Grin) is the best bit. I never take it down before the 6th, so it usually goes up around the 15th to 20th of December. I'm always super excited and want to do it sooner, mind!

A couple of years ago, I had a flatmate who loves Christmas as much as me, and we drove out to a cut your own tree place and got a MASSIVE 11 foot tree that scraped the ceilings of the flat, which was awesome. We always skied out and cut a tree when I was little. DP is a bit bah humbug about the whole thing, so I'm really hoping I can make DS as excited as me so I've got someone to share it with!

PerpetualSummer · 26/11/2015 07:51

Thanks for the welcome ladies!

lilydreams - dd arrived on 30 July. I'm very scared about the sleep regression hitting us anytime now!!!

Nolongerwaiting - I had a big to do list so was not prepared for her early arrival! My friends had wanted to gift a Moses basket and it hadn't arrived so I was on my iPad during labour ordering one from John Lewis for next day delivery.

I am so not prepared for Christmas! We will be in Australia for Christmas so cannot wait for some sunshine!

Ok back to continuing to catch up on the thread - keep jumping back and forth.

Frolicacid · 26/11/2015 09:49

Good morning! Ds woke up after my last post but then slept 10-4 and 4:15-9, so we are feeling much better. These jabs have had no affect so far.

You can't not have a Christmas tree kbro! Your dh is talking crazy!

I feel exactly the same as you about getting drunk lily. I've been sick from coughing a few times this week and it's really reminded me how terrible it was.

Nice synchronicity there slow. No sign of a period here yet.

Mini mzzf sounds ready for some tastes! Ds is showing no interest in food whatsoever. I'm quite surprised considering both his parents are big pigs!

I love the festive perinieum siani! Even more so as I don't have to worry about work this year!

Happy Thursday augmums - I hope it's a good one!

FattyNinjaOwl · 26/11/2015 10:12

Babies are all so different. DS can roll but would rather not as he hates being on his tummy. He sits very well, even unsupported for a shirt amount of time. And he tried to eat kebab last night.(he was on my knee, DD was being her usual demon self) I caught him before he got chilli sauce in his mouth though!

My tree will be going up tonight. I was going to wait until the weekend but I have DS1 off sick so I want to cheer him up. He was up half the night throwing his guts up.
I have a fake tree. Real ones are lovely but I'm lazy and CBA cleaning up the needles!

FattyNinjaOwl · 26/11/2015 13:41

mzzzf I've just noticed your last paragraph

Right she's had her feed, time to transfer.... fungets crossed

What are fungets?

mzzzf · 26/11/2015 13:51

Hahahaha!

Well I used to have actual fingers but gnawed them off due to sleep deprivation!!! Grin

FattyNinjaOwl · 26/11/2015 13:55

Ah, makes perfect sense Grin

Giraffescandance1 · 26/11/2015 16:46

Hi all,

I lost my phone charger for a day so only just caught up Grin

Tindel I've always dream fed both of my babies. It's odd I do this as I'm normally very baby led, but my feeling is that I'm not forcing baby to feed - they can choose whether to start bfing of not. I simply pick baby up or lay next to her in bed and gently trace the nipple under her nose. Usually she stays asleep and chooses to feed for a few minutes, sometimes she isn't really interested but she tends to be happy to feed, she never wakes up. She doesn't tend to wake properly for any of her night feeds now though as we've finally got the hang of feeding laying down, so when she starts snuffling in her sleep I just move towards her a bit and offer her a feed. Thank goodness it's giving me so much more sleep!

Today I took baby giraffe swimming for the first time, she was mesmerised by the whole experience and has been having very good naps since, she's conked out twice on the playmate with no prior warning. I seem to remember swimming used to knacker dd1 as well, so I could be going to the pool more often Wink

Can I have a White Russian in Mugabes this early do you reckon? Maybe it's happy hour so I can have two or I'll buy some jugs for us all to share if anyone else is in the mood to get a bit merry Wink
