Bit of a rant coming up. So dexter's already 19kg. I was made aware the other day that cos of this he should be in a hbb with a normal seat belt Shock

So I take a look into seats that harness upto 25kg..... there's ONE, two if we had isofix. ONE!!! So when they say harness or rf to age 4, they actually mean 18kg.

CutYourHairAndGetAJob · 12/02/2016 12:15

I didn't know that blink. Dd is rear facing, I have no idea how much she weighs but is smallish for her age so I guess she's fine for a while. I'm hoping to move her when ds is too big for his baby seat so around when she turns 4.

Blink1982 · 12/02/2016 20:15

Now we've got this new seat coming he'll be able to stay in that till he's 25kg and then hopefully he'll be nearer 5 by then and trustworthy in a hbb with a seat belt.

I bought the joie stages thinking we'd be good til age 7 n not need to buy another ever again. Pfft stoopid small print. Thank god someone pointed it out to me though.

glorious · 19/02/2016 09:32

Hello all. We're off looking at potential houses today and I just want to cry because I don't want to move. Rubbish eh? I'm going to have to try to like some aren't I. It's Sooo expensive that a house roughly like our current one is 100k more! Who said moving out of London was cheaper?!

CutYourHairAndGetAJob · 19/02/2016 13:11

Sad glorious. We are still in our little two bed flat, we're hoping to convert the loft this year so the kids can have their own bedrooms. We could get a bigger place if we moved out of town but I love it here too much.

glorious · 19/02/2016 14:33

Yeah I know what you mean. I just get really attached to places. Loft sounds a good solution.

Well I did quite like both, though for totally different reasons. One is the wrong side of town for the station but backs onto a park and is near the river and just a lovely setting and is a nice period semi. The other is v near the station, similar age bur terraced and not as pretty, and is currently a b and b. It needs lots of cosmetic work and new kitchen and bathrooms but would end up being an awful lot bigger and more convenient (and better for schools). Stressful to get planning and buy, though. And more expensive. Big chat for me and DH tonight!

CutYourHairAndGetAJob · 20/02/2016 07:58

Oh I would be tempted by the park and river! How far is it from the station, could you walk (or cycle) there?

glorious · 20/02/2016 08:14

Me too! It's about 2 miles, so not sensible to walk as part of a commute but fine to cycle - less than 15 mins. Parking the bike takes a while though and it's massively more faff than a 5 minute walk from the other one.

I might not be working anyway but I'd like to have the option.

CutYourHairAndGetAJob · 20/02/2016 08:26

Could you look at the cycle ride as your daily exercise?

glorious · 20/02/2016 08:45

Yes definitely, and it would be pretty as much of it can be over parks. It's just the whole thing would be 2 hours and it's much more faff to park bike, have right clothes etc. It's about 2 miles so fine to walk (I did yesterday ) but too slow for a commute.

The pictures don't do it justice but it's this one. www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-57806000.html
We'd replace the funny lean to with a side return and lots of glass at the back. In the longer term could also do loft.

The other one is here. 600 Sq ft bigger and no building to do but full replaster, redecorate, remove showers and loos from current teeny enclosures, restore receptions, make a family bathroom and two proper ensuites, and do kitchen. Oh and sort a proper garden from car park. Would want to get it a good 5% under asking price but would most likely make a substantial profit when done.

glorious · 20/02/2016 08:47

Second one is under 5 min walk from station...

Blink1982 · 20/02/2016 08:53

I like the first one glorious... only because the secone has no photos but I'd be highly tempted by nine bedrooms 😀

glorious · 20/02/2016 08:56

Blink they're counting everything except the kitchen ad a bedroom (as it is now) so by the time you take 2 receptions out and a bathroom it's actually 5. Still big but not as big as it sounds. There are no pictures because it's hideous - pine panelling, awful blue and red swirly carpet, etc.

The first one is definitely prettier!

CutYourHairAndGetAJob · 20/02/2016 09:25

Ooh the first one is pretty. If you bought the second one do you have the money leftover to redecorate it nicely?

glorious · 20/02/2016 10:05

Yes but it's a stretch and would mean I had to keep working. And we'd want to pay under asking price.

Blink1982 · 20/02/2016 18:28

Could you wait a bit longer to see if something better comes on sale near the second place? It sounds like you'd be making compromises with both of those houses.

glorious · 20/02/2016 20:07

Yes we could. There is just so little on the market and prices are going crazy so it's a bit panic inducing!

Sigh.

CutYourHairAndGetAJob · 21/02/2016 09:08

Of the two, I'd be tempted by the smaller one. You only need to be near the station for work, but you only need to work if you go for the bigger house. The smaller one is big enough for your family (unless you are planning lots more babies Grin).

Or, as blink says, if you're not sure about either then hold on till something perfect comes along.

CutYourHairAndGetAJob · 21/02/2016 09:12

Both kids were up at silly o clock this morning. Dd comes into our bed when she wakes up, bounces a bit, sings, watches cbeebies on the tablet. This wakes ds up who needs a feed, the cat hears the commotion and decides it must be breakfast time, and suddenly we are all up.

We have a third birthday party this afternoon, today is going to be fun Hmm

glorious · 21/02/2016 17:22

I hate early starts. Poor you! I hope the party went well.

We will see!currently trying to declutter the study / guest room and sell some books online under an unfortunately napping DD

Blink1982 · 21/02/2016 19:46

We had dexter insisting on his tablet at half four this morning too... had to drive two hrs n back for a christening so I'm looking forward to my bed!

glorious · 25/02/2016 10:19

Just told our lovely childminder we're moving. Floods of tears here Sad She is so perfect and has made such a difference to us. Off to work now so trying to stop crying...

LetThereBeCupcakes · 01/03/2016 16:02

Flowers for you glorious. I'm sure once the initial up-rooting is over with you'll love your new home, whatever you end up buying.

Early mornings are rubbish. DS is fairly good at staying in his bed until 6am but we keep having hiccups. And Ddog has taken to getting me up a couple of times a night, too. Hmm

13+5 now and been off work for a month with hyperemisis. Hopefully going back next week but will have to play it by ear. DS is finding it quite unsettling so I'm keen to try and get back to something like normal ASAP.

glorious · 01/03/2016 17:40

Oh cupcakes that's awful, you poor thing. I'm amazed you have any empathy left for me in the circumstances Flowers

LetThereBeCupcakes · 16/03/2016 07:31

How is the move going, glorious? Hope you're Ok.

Tool DS to the theatre to see Gruffalo's child at the weekend. Lovely show, I'd thoroughly recommend it!

Is anybody else finding 3 a really difficult age? We're having a really tough time with DS at the moment. I don't know if it's a reaction to moving up to preschool / my pregnancy / losing ddog but crikey it just feels like one tantrum after another at the moment. And this morning he weed under the dining room table. Just because.
