hi, i found it by looking in unanswered threads, tried searching in all messages using june 2006 in subjest line, but said zero messages.
ds is teething , and has been unusually grumpy as he is so good natured normally , its been hard week

Mitchell81 · 10/11/2006 19:10

Thanks for starting new thread. Still trying to hold off as long as possible before introducing solids, as its so much easier with him only having milk. He will be 5 months on the 16th, so not doing to badly.
Hope you all have a nice weekend, Glad DH is home now, he has just started a new job and away from 7 till 7, long day- not used to it yet.

docket · 10/11/2006 21:06

Hi all

Haven't posted for ages, been so hectic.

dd is nearly 5 months now, no solids yet here either. she's teething too and has been terribly grumpy and dribbly for the last few days. no sign of any teeth yet though, just loads of dribble and lots of hand chomping.

how are your lo's sleeping now - dd is waking once or twice between 7pm and 7am. not too bad i suppose but what i would give for a whole nights kip....

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could be pregnant

Have been feeling really 'off' the last 4 weeks, headaches, feeling really nauseous (esp. mornings), woozy, achey, but thought nothing of it. I've been having periods as normal and I'm on the pill so thought I could be having a reaction to that as I know some people have probs when they go back on it. I haven't been on contraception for 3 years so I just thought I was taking a while to get used to it. Told HV abut it on Wednesday and she told me to go for a pregnancy test.

OK, it sounds really dumb now I'm writing it that it didn't cross my mind sooner, but I can't be can i? Not with having normal periods and on the pill? Most likely that I'm not, but now my mind is playing tricks on me, and I'm really scared to take a test in case it's positive.

PLEASE, has anyone else felt odd? Is it normal? Surely I've got nothing to worry about...?

BTW, thanks alibobble for starting a new thread!!

Iona woke up at 4:30am today - not had that since she was really tiny. Still, she settled herself to sleep again after 20 mins of happily talking to her toys, so at least I didn't have to get up.

Right, would really like to go and have a large glass of wine, but don't know if that's appropriate or not now.... will let you know how things are when I pluck up courage to do the test.

mufti · 10/11/2006 21:41

like wise re solids, ds 5 months on 29th, but i want to wait.
my dh started a new job in sept , out all day, he used to work mainly from home , so that been a big shock, starting to get used to it , but still dont like it.
ds goes through the night, but wont sleep much in the day, so nothing gets done.

asleep · 10/11/2006 21:53

hi all
i used to be lilacbump/wine.
DS is 23 weeks tomorrow. he's still a big lad (11 lb 1oz at birth). he's been on solids for about 4 weeks. likes most purees, but has had a reaction to apple. odd as that is always said to be such a safe food for allergies etc!
he's sleeping from about 7-8pm till 6-7am. and still has a dummy, but only at night now.
he's rolling over both ways. pretty much sitting unaided. he is gorgeous
tomorrow we're going out without the kids for the first time since DS was born!

Oh my BM. won't that be exciting please keep us informed when you take a test. It will be a close age gap but you will manage, you have no choice you will have to cope. Hope the result is what you want now that you have thought about it?
Docket my DS doesn't sleep through either, wakes every 4 or 5 hours. Thinking now that he might never. Has any one heard from laura?

alibobble · 12/11/2006 14:03

hurray dd is much better these last few days. the vomiting has finally stopped and teething is still ongoing but not as bad. dd can sit up on her own now (21 weeks now) - just started doing it over the past few days. Has revolutionised time with ehr as she's SO much happier sat up. Have to still actively play with ehr led down to practice rolling etc but she's happy as larry in her rubber ring! (my version of a baby nest for alot less than £30!) She's started trying to blow raspberries and thinks the cat is the funniest thing ever.

BM I hope things work out ok for you. What a shock! Let us know how you are.

All you brave mummies with babies still on milk only, well done to you all. DD loves her purees but is on full bottles x4 AND 2 meals of solids. you have my respect. there's no way dd would still sleep on just milk! She's a hungry wee beestie (all 16 odd lb of her).

New member alert! Just joined last week and following quick and steep learning curve (ds/dh/iykwim etc!) came across the June 06 thread. My ds (Isaac James) was born on 6/6/06 - easy date to remember!

He is now 22 weeks and a wee smasher. Began weaning last weekend as he was downing 4 x 9.5 oz bottles and had started crying for more. Loving his food but has allergy rash on legs and face. HV said nothing to worry about (he was bf for first 3 months but had to give up as he refused to latch on).

Me feeling a bit sad as going back to work in 3 weeks (2 days to begin with, then 3 after new year) and feel he is just getting to the age I can really interact and the thought of leaving him even though its with grandparents... We joined local playgroup and did baby massage so he is used to being with other babies and people and loves it (typical Gemini!).

I would have probably foind this thread a lifesaver in those dark and scary early weeks - altho' baby whispere was a great help.

Anyway enough rambling, just thought I'd say ola!

alibobble · 12/11/2006 21:51

hellooo foxy! Wow 4x9.5oz! I don't think dd could fit that much in at once! Well you've found us now and you're very welcome!

Hi - room for another newbie? DD, Freya, is 22 weeks (although I'm starting to count in months now as it's getting embarrassing when I can't remember how old she is ) We've started weaning and already she seems to have a sweet tooth. Still b/fing too. As for sleeping - still a sore subject.
Also have DS, Calum, aged 2.8, and we (along with DH!) live in NE Scotland.

trinity1 · 13/11/2006 17:08

Welcome Foxymagoo & Finona (Freya, what a beautiful name)

Hi all, haven't posted for a couple of weeks as have just started weaning DD, who is now almost 22 weeks. No-one told us their nappies were meant to be like that after (TMI - sorry )

She's just started saying 'dada' which pleased DP no end (grrrr!) and just loves to scream at the top of her voice, which is lovely at 6am! I also didn't know I would be giving birth to a telly addict, well, Pocoyo which I don't mind because I can finally get to eat my dinner in peace - albeit at a price!

Can't believe our little ones are coming up to 6 months already and there's a due in June 2007 thread now. Where has the time gone? xxx

Finona, I also keep forgetting how many weeks ds is so have moved to months too!

My niece is called Freya and people always say what a beautiful name it is.

We're from Scotland too but further down (Falkirk - halfway between Edinburgh and Glasgow)

Still getting used to the sudden change in temperature! Feel like I spent so many months keeping ds cool over the summer (he didn't wear anything more than a vest until Setpember as it was sooo warm). ds is in his vest/babygrow grobag at night but had to put light blanket on him last night as he woke up cold the night before (I felt terrible - his hands were freezing ).

Well its 6pm - bathtime!! Oh to be a baby waited (towel and jammies heating up on radiator, bottle warming etc.etc....)

alibobble · 13/11/2006 21:48

the weather and temp is a tricky thing is it not?! DD woke at 6.30am screaming and her room was really cold even tho heating was coming on. She promptly fell asleep in our bed in seconds! (doesn't usually wake till 7/7.30am) Trouble is that her room is really warm at 7/7.30pm when she's going to bed so don't want to put a blanket over her or she'll be too warm. Plus is in a cot now and moves about all over the pace hence the sleeping bag. Any suggestions? SB is 2.5tog btw. Do i put a vest on under her sleep suit? (currently just sleepy suit for night)

wow that is chilly! Pu a blanket over dd last night but when I went in this AM she was out from under it and through 90o in her cot! think a vest might be the answer!

Just back from playgroup and ds is sleeping... unlike during the night when he woke at 3am. He has been sleeping through since he was 16 weeks but I think moving to solids has unsettled him as he has woken up a few nights last week. Has anyone else experienced this?

Also plucked up courage and asked a Mum at playgroup round to mine for a playdate next week as pg isn't on. I've only met her a few times but she is really easy to talk to and our lo's are the same age. Felt v. nervous like asking someone out on a date! Not done that since 1999 when I chatted up my now dh!

Hi Guys, I've not disappeared off the face of the earth I just seem to get no time to post messages at the moment but have been reading to keep up with everything and it's lovely to see that everything is going so well.

DS is now 5 and a half months and completely gorgeous - a really happy little boy. We started weaning 2 weeks ago. He is really enjoying his food and so far has has apple, pear, carrot and banana. Today i tried sweet potato and swede which was a big hit - he ate a huge portion. He's having breakfast (at 8.30am) and tea (around 4.30pm) at the moment but I think I'll introduce lunch soon so I can hopefully drop one of the milk feeds. What with milk and food I'm seem to be feeding him every couple of hours at the moment! He's still having a full 7oz at the 10.30pm feed so I'm reluctant to drop that yet incase we get an early morning wake up call!

He is sitting up for a few seconds at a time now and loves it but is showing no interest in rolling over and complains everytime he is put on his front.

BTW alibobble we're in Surrey so not as cold as some places but DS wears a sleepsuit and vest with a 2.5 tog sleeping bag at night. After the dream feed we also cover him with a fleecy blanket as the heating has gone off by then.

How are you BlobsMummy? I hope it's the news you wanted.

I'll try and write again soon.

alibobble · 15/11/2006 13:33

do LO's go through another spurt around now? DD is 5 months today. Has been really poorly recently and was barely taking any food (3oz bottles or water down ones) is now back on full stuff and for the last few days it's looked like this:

7.30 feed (6/7oz)
11am at a push (7oz) - drained bottled but as was out couldn't make more
12pm Solids (equiv of 3/4 ice cubes)
1.45 screaming for more food! took 7oz!
5pm 6oz bottle drained and looking for more (was in a car park so had no more to give!)
6pm tea gave 3 ice cubes. then looked for rest so took another 3!
7.50pm 6oz bottle drained.

This from a baby who has nevr drained bottles. I always like a bit left at the end to know she's had enough. Made 7oz for breakfast and she had all of it. 7oz again at 11am. 5 icecubes for lunch. Qu - when will 2.30ish feed happen?! lol!

Is she catching up from all that missed food? She dropped off her %ile from above 75 to between 50 and 75. Or is it a growth spurt that has happened after illness so change = shock.

When she's spurted last time she went from taking 4/5oz a feed to 7/8 OVERNIGHT! Man it was a shock. Not a wonder my body had trouble keeping up in the early days! Then it drops away again. Is this normal?

Sorry, lots of qu. Still learning the ropes!

OP posts:
alibobble · 15/11/2006 13:34

that should have read 6.50 not 7.50! She goes to bed 7-7.30ish

Thanks for the welcome! Waswondering, we're in Keith, and both DD and DS were born in Elgin, but I'm an Aberdeen quine originally. My mum and dad are still there.

I know you shouldn't compare, but how much are other LO's gaining in a week? Got DD weighed today and she's put on 8oz in a fortnight. I was somehow expecting more now that she's on solids! She was 7.6 at birth, and was 23 weeks on Monday. For the first 10 weeks she held a steady line on the growth charts between the 25th and 50th centile, but now she's between the 9th and 25th, albeit still on a steady curve.
