My period has only just come back so its early days but it does seem slightly heavier than usual, I found after i had my eldest that they became a lot more regular, made it easier planning my second pregnancy.

Foxy- Chest infections are going round down here in Wales too i know quite a few people who've had to have antibiotics, I had a bad chest a few weeks ago but put it down to quitting the fags!

RachelPross · 09/12/2006 11:26

Hello all. DD, me and DH are all well. Decided it's pointless worrying about the heart thing unless we're told there is a problem for certain. The mroe people I talk to about it the more common I realise heart murmurs are...just something babies grow out of so fingers crossed thats all it is.
No teeth yet, last weigh in she was 18lb 4oz (a few weeks ago) so no probs growing here!!! A v big girl!! She's rolling over and back but no sign of crawling or sitting up unaided yet. But she really can shift some rolling about the place!

RachelPross · 09/12/2006 11:46

Ladyshaefer - where in Wales are you? We're in Llanelli.

ladyschaefer · 09/12/2006 13:39

Ds is doing exactly the same rolling about all over the floor, its surprising how quickly they can move. He's taken to laying face down and waving his bum in the air while trying to get on his knees.

RachelPross- We are in Swansea, not far away from each other

foxymagoo · 10/12/2006 10:57

Advice corner! DS has been waking up at 5.30am for the past week (he used to wake @ 6.30-6.45). He is bright as a button at this time so no point trying to get him back to sleep - although I have tried. He doesn't wake from hunger as he never gets his bottle before 6.45am and it quite content to play until then. I've tried keeping him up later but he is so used to his bath-bedtime routine that he is knackered by 6.15pm.

One thing about his early riding is he is having a longer morning nap - should we cut this back? Its so hard as some days I use this longer nap to go back to bed myself! I also wonder if its his teeth but stil no red cheeks or any other teething symptoms..

Hardly had any sleep due to cough, cough coughing - hoping my antibiotics kick in today.

alibobble · 11/12/2006 14:37

I would try cutting back the morning sleep. I know it's tempting to go back to bed but knowing it could mean a 5am wakeup call is not good. I remember about 4 weeks ago reading in a book we must not mention that dd should be working towards moving from a 45min nap in the AM to 30 mins. I was like.... WHATEVER! Now she manages perfectly happily on 15-20 mins cut back from 45 mins over a period of a few weeks. I one day did 30 mins instead of 45 as I had to be out of the house to get somewhere and dd was fine. and shortly after she started waking herself before I went to get her.

To be fair she's started teething again over the past 2 days and it's a nightmare as she's so grizzly it's hard to tell when she's tired and really struggles to settle herself but judging by last time it will pass! You can only try and if it's a disaster then you know that doesn't work at the moment but I would try again in a week or so to check. I find dd has quite afew awake days followed by a sleepy day.

Currently dd sleeps 15 mins in the AM (2 hrs after getting up) then 2 hours at lunch and has cut out the afternoon nap altogether. sometimes if she's really grizzly I'll give her a 10/15 min power nap in the afternoon but mostly she doesn't have it. SHe does have a massive grizzle session at about 4/5pm but that is totally not altered by whether she has a nap or not! She grizzles regardless!

I can't believe how much she has cut back on sleep in the past few weeks. it's been really hard because it's so tempting to leave her there for a bit longer so I can do jobs or get a shower but I'd rather have her sleep better at night and that's what i keep tellnig myself when time to wake her draws near and I'm like... oh 15 mins more won't hurt!

Sorry to hear about your little one Rachel - hope there's some good news winging it's way towards you soon.

Well, I'm currently at work - this is my first day and as you can tell by the fact that I'm at my desk writing on MN - I'm a tad bored!

DD has no signs of teeth yet but is getting stronfer at pulling herself up. Still doesn't like being on her front so I can't ever see her crawling. Probably just get up and walk one day. Someone told me that going straight to walking without crawling will hinder her development - can we parents do nothing right??!!

alibobble · 11/12/2006 20:48

While it is true that bottom shufflers can be later to walk, crawling is one of the developmental milestones that has no age on it. the physio gave us a talk the other day at our HV run baby group and they don't worry if they don't crawl. that said, aparently it's good for them to exercise those shoulder muscles on their front in prep for more dextrous activities like writing in the future. DD hates being on her front but the physio showed us a way of lying her on her front with a rolled up towel under her like a sausage with her arm over it. It helps support them so they don't have to work as hard at keeping their faces out of the carpet! so they stay there for longer. it seemsed to help dd. she's still not keen but I try and lie her on her front each day. She's started compulsively rolling nnow but crieswhen she reaches her tummy! Silly billy!

thanks alibobble! Your advice was the same as some I came across on old mn 'early waking' threads on Sunday night so we cut back on ds morning nap yesterday and he woke up at 5am this morning BUT he went quickly back to sleep until 6.30am! He only had 35 mins this morning (woke up by himself) so hopefully he has reset his bodyclock. Whatever happens tho' I'll make sure he doesn't get more than 45 mins in the morning - unless he is unwell.

alibobble · 12/12/2006 17:23

heehee yeah! dd is teething like mad and had half hour this am and 2 1/2 hrs at lunch! it's amazing what a few teeth can do!... now where did i put the calpol f;)

Are anyone's lo's wanting to sleep on their side?

I've just come out of ds's room as he's been doing a bit tossing and turning in his sleep and keeps lying on his side but doesn't have the balance to stay there. I've put a soft cushion at his back but will remove it before I go to bed..

I do feel for them at this age - the mind is willing but the body has still to catch up!

Added some unsalted butter to his potatos/leek/bean/courgette puree tonight and he wolfed them down - you can't beat mashed tatties in butter!

alibobble · 13/12/2006 21:06

wow save some for me!

DD was led on her side sucking her thumb as dh tried to dress her for bed but she still sleeps on her back. As a tiny LO she used to sleep MUCH better on her side so used to wedge her like that when she was swaddled! I'm dreading when she rolls over in her sleep and wakes screaming!

Think the teething is not just teething but the cold rest of family has had. Poor LO can't breathe at all. HAve invested in some of those evil saline nasal drops. They worked a treat and she managed to take her bottle like a trooper before bed. She's really struggled last few nights. Am hoping this will pass soon as we're visiting friends 200 miles away over the weekened! They haven't seen her since 6 weeks old and it'll be a killer if she's on full grump mode all weekend because she'll be out of routine to start with! Ah well. She's pretty good at sleeping anywhere so long as it's dark.

I always put DS down to sleep on his back but he always ends up on his side, he's also taken to rolling on to his tummy. He's obviously comfy on his tummy but he snores like a trooper and keeps me awake! Hehehehehehe.

sarahsbump · 14/12/2006 11:08

Hi all x
DS is now 23 weeks and a darling
He has completley mastered the art of rolling both ways and uses it to make fast work of moving round the room!!
He has also taken to sleeping on his side and front

WW, hope you have a wondeful christmas and you survive the cold weather, how will your lo's cope?
DS was 6 months yesterday, he is starting to enjoy his food more now than a few weeks ago, doesn't like apple, but likes veges.
Still not on the move at all, rolls onto his side from his back, but thats about it.
Starting to wonder when he will do anything, Hopefully all in his own time and nothing to worry about.
Hope everyone is ready for christmas.

foxymagoo · 17/12/2006 18:27

ww - enjoy you hols - at least your guaranteed some snow!

DS had his first piece of chocolate today - yikes! We were at friend's for lunch and he was on my knee whilst I ate my chocolate log and before I knew it he had grabbed some off my plate and stuffed it in his mouth.

Luckily it didn't seem to put him off his veg tonight - phew!

My friends were teasing me and saying he would now be demanding to go to McDonalds now that he knew there was more to life than pureed fruit and veg!

He can know stand with me holding his hands for balance but no sign of crawling...

foxymagoo · 17/12/2006 18:28

that should have read 'now' not 'know' - pass me the dictionary!

blobsmummy · 18/12/2006 09:37

DD desperately teething, but still they show no sign of popping through. It has to be sometime in the next couple of weeks though as she's going mad - it'll be a good Christmas present! It's making her really sick and dribbly.

I understand what you mean about it helping DD to crawl rather than bottom suffle, but she just won't entertain the idea at all. She can pull herself up now though, so I fugure her arms are getting stronger doing that.

Prob won't be able to get here again until after Christmas, so have a great one all of you

Mitchell81 · 18/12/2006 09:44

Well after wondering when DS would ever roll etc, on sunday he rolled from front to back and his first tooth is now through. All happened in two days.

alibobble · 18/12/2006 21:50

Wow dd teething AGAIN and a cold... more snot than you would think is possible! We went ovisit friends in Leicester over the weekend and she was up in the night twice for the first time since 8 weeks old! Screaming her head off! How embarressing... fortunately they've had 3 kids so seen it all! She then threw up all over at another friend's hopuse due to swallowing so much mucus! YUCK! Poor love is coughing her guts up but doc says is just hte snot and not her chest fortunately.

BM: DD hates being on her front too... but still rolls over.. then cries. Hours of fun when trying to make tea. Baby rolls over and cries... tuen her over and try and chop a veg... 2 sec later baby has rolled over again and crying! Fortunately she's learned to roll back again over the weekend. Hurray

dd was 6 months on fri and i sat looking at her today eating her tea armed with ehr own spoon and then demolishing a breadstick excitedly and though... wow some pople are only just starting weaning now!

Hope everyone has a great Christmas... I suspect dd will have MORE teeth by the time the new year arrives... well I hope so for all the effort, egg frying cheeks and vomiting! See you all later x

Hello everyone, its been a while since last posted but thought I'd update on DD. She was 6 months old on Saturday and I can't believe how quickly the time has passed .

DP and I are looking forward to our first Christmas with her and planning our wedding too, which is due to take place the day before DD's first birthday! She's teething really badly at the moment with two bottom teeth just poking through! She's been rolling over for the last couple of weeks and the only words she can say right now is 'dada' It's like mummy never existed! Weaning is going well. Can't help but giggle when she blows raspberries just as I've put a spoonful of food in her mouth!

This has been the best year ever, can't believe how much our lives have changed and its all because of our beautiful DD. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE - BRING ON 2007! xxxx
