Roll call please ladies and perhaps add the number of slings and buggies you have acquired at the time of posting... Wink

zyla how big was H when you started using the sling?

ZylaB · 24/03/2015 12:20

She's about 7lb at the moment but it was fine when she was 6lb 3oz or so as it just adjusts on rings :)

RPopz · 24/03/2015 12:42

Think you can put them in stretchies at any age. Its buckles that usually have a minimum weight.

DS hasn't had a poo since Sunday... am expecting it to be apocalyptic when it finally arrives.... Shock Though according to Alpha Parent breastfed babies can go 10-12 days without pooping at this age! Shock Shock I do not want to change that nappy!

Welcome to the other side pis Smile

ZylaB · 24/03/2015 13:56

I do like this sling but am not sure how good it'll be when she's a bit bigger, seems like it might be restrictive when she's got more head and limb control? (It's a caboo close). Anyone got any ideas what might be good for the future when she's a bit bigger if she needs keeping upright all the time? I just want loads of time to start researching :). Who's the sling guru..? juni?

TheBooMonster · 24/03/2015 14:23

Might have to try Evie in the papoozle sling later then and see what she thinks, she loves snuggles my my wrist is still horribly painful from the canulla that they put in insanely low down so I can only hold her with my left arm.

willywallace · 24/03/2015 14:43

Think they're upright in all of them zyla but yes, Juni is your girl.

TheBooMonster · 24/03/2015 17:46

Urgh! Midwife has been. She seemingly left her tact and people skills at home today. It is never a good idea to tell someone that with a latch like you've just witnessed the baby won't get the milk in fast enough so will lose too much weight and have to be re admitted for weight loss... Especially when that exact situation is the mums worst nightmare.

ZylaB · 24/03/2015 18:11

boo punch her, then say "sorry but tactless, thoughtless bitches make my just-given-birth hormones go mental!". Is there any bf support around you? Can you ring la leche league?

TheBooMonster · 24/03/2015 18:56

We don't have any lll folk here, there is a breastfeeding support lady but I didn't manage get hold of her today and tomorrow a midwife will be back to say either 'keep up the good work' or 'back in you go' She's a bit jaundiced too ;/ the thing is I don't think her latch is an issue as I can hear and feel her sucking and swallowing.

willywallace · 24/03/2015 19:22

Please tell me that if she said that then she showed you how to improve it? Because otherwise it's a fucking pointless thing to say. Midwives need to improve their bf knowledge, they seem to be pretty useless on the whole.

JuniDD · 24/03/2015 19:41

Oh dear boo that doesn't sound good from the midwife. I hope you're ok. It's all so stressful at this stage and I was just dying for everyone to leave us the fuck alone. (unsolicited advice: Can you try breast compressions to get more into her? & park her by a window for some sunshine for the jaundice?) I hope it's all ok tomorrow though, they do all say different things.

zyla I don't have any experience of the caboo but she'll be in it for quite some time I expect. My friend had her 4 month old in the wrap bit without the "sleeve" and he was perfectly happy looking around. Any buckle will do once she's a bit bigger (ergo, manduca, tula, boba etc) or you might want to look into woven wraps or ring slings. They don't really need too much freedom to look around, imo!

Good luck with the poo popz!

What shall DD and I do tomorrow...no plans and I will need to get out and about!

Congratulations pis

boo ignore the midwife, if you've breastfed before & know what to look out for you probably know more than her.

DD's fast asleep in her big cot 2 hours before her usual bedtime, don't know if I should wake her for the last feed & move her in with me or leave her alone Confused

TheBooMonster · 24/03/2015 20:32

She corrected my latch but it looked exactly the same as when I did it apart from me supporting her with the opposite arm which hurts too much to maintain due to bruising and tenderness from the canula they only took out yesterday Hmm I'm hoping she's going to turn out to be fine, she spends so much time on the boob!

ZylaB · 24/03/2015 20:58

Thanks juni! Also need ideas of something to do tomorrow!

wil going to try her in the pram bassinet again tomorrow, but we ordered the insert as I'm sure it'll get used, if not now then later when she's looking around more as she's probably going to be a bit little for a few more months :)

willywallace · 24/03/2015 21:14

Baby cinema? That's what I'd like to do. Big walk? Clothes shopping? - obviously this is really a list of things I want/need to do but can't because of the toddler! Swimming? Um...I'm out.

RPopz · 24/03/2015 21:50

Still no poo. He's a right crabby arse! He's due a wonder week as well. Eurgh. He doesn't want to feed, he just gets all screamy and angry at my boob. I'm stumped by problems which the boob can't solve. He doesn't even seem to like me that much today... Feeling rejected Sad Sad

Boo IME mws are about as much use as a petrol fireguard when it comes to bfing.... Did they weigh her? If her weights ok then that'll be the real proof! If you think the latch is fine then trust your instincts.

TheBooMonster · 24/03/2015 22:29

Agh! Wrote a whole message one handed then bloody canceled it!

popz have you tried diluted down orange, we always used to do that when DD had gone longer than MiL was happy about without a poo.

Me didn't weigh today, will be back with the scales of fate tomorrow. Must have some milk, squirted self in face, don't remember colostrum being that enthusiastic...

willywallace · 24/03/2015 23:12

Haha I hate squirty boobs. I end up covering babywil's face whilst she farts about.

Sounds like he's constipated Popz, that's what happens here when she needs a poo. Not sure you can give juice under 4 months though. That's strange for a bf baby not on gaviscon . Is he feeding as often as usual?

ZylaB · 25/03/2015 05:07

Don't understand how I'm meant to sleep?mshes gurgling and crying again if laid down. The cot is already tilted as much as it can be. So can't put her down. Also can't sleep when she does during the day as it's the same, she sleeps fine she held but wakes up and cries when put down. Hmmmm.

willywallace · 25/03/2015 08:29

I can't imagine I can come up with anything you haven't tried. Swaddle? I'm sure you're waiting until she's in deep sleep due to reflux. Will she sit in bouncy chair? If MicroWil is full and sleepy, I can get her to sleep in their with a dummy, blanket and some music. Is MrZ still home in the afternoons? If so, he could take her for long walk in the pram whilst you get some rest. MiniWil hated the pram at first and I used to have to just put earphones in and ignore the screams if I wanted to get anywhere - as harsh as that sounds. But he could always use the car seat if it clips onto buggy and she's happier in there? Also not advised but in the afternoons if I'm knackered and MiniWil obligingly agrees to nap, I lie on the couch holding her and can sometimes catnap. I know that's not great advice but when you're desperate... and there's nowhere she can get wedged plus I'm a light sleeper. Or sometimes she'll sleep on a cushion if I use the dummy - which works as long as they can't roll.

ZylaB · 25/03/2015 09:50

Thanks wil For the support and suggestions Flowers
I think we've tried it all. MrZ is working, he's also away a couple of nights a week so I'm by myself :(. She can sleep but if I move her at all she wakes up and screams, I'll just cross my fingers that the medicine kicks in some more soon. If it doesn't I think I'm going to insist on a paeds referral. We've got an NCT meetup in a couple of weeks but I've started dreading going anywhere. Poor little girl.

RPopz · 25/03/2015 09:56

Yeah I've just been reading that constipation is pretty rare in ebf babies... He did a mammoth feed at bedtime so I'm less concerned now. The last poo he did on Sunday was a bit green and had stringy mucous in it though.... Confused Hmm

ZylaB · 25/03/2015 09:57

I think what's also concerning me is that she's started writhing around when she's trying to latch on and then fighting and chewing almost and spitting out my nipple, and I really don't want anything to affect the feeding, she's so low on the charts as it is.

willywallace · 25/03/2015 11:02

That's so weird - microwil is doing that too. Usually I think it's when she either has wind or needs a poo or sometimes when really tired. She is awful at feeding in public. Who am I thinking of whose DP/DH doesn't or didn't work in the afternoons? Or was it you zyla but now he has a different job? That's so hard if he's away - I'd really struggle with that. Yeah maybe go with a paeds referral. I was on the brink of it but feel she's slowly getting better with age - plus possibly the no dairy is helping. Use infacol for the wind?

That sounds like a food allergy poo popz - had you had anything different from normal?
