Morning viroids. Isaac is coming home today I think GrinGrinGrin

ZylaB · 22/03/2015 06:59

That's ace lauren Grin

After 2 or 3 good nights we've had a shit one. She had less gaviscon durin the day yesterday and seemed fine, but was obviously really suffering (and screaming) last night. Hopefully be ok again tonight!

willywallace · 22/03/2015 08:11

Hurrah Lauren! Amazing news Smile Smile Smile

Think it's how they keep us on our toes Zyla. Put MicroWil down last night and she was up for a feed 45 minutes later Envy . Then she took an hour and a half to settle after her half three feed. I accidentally ate some dairy yesterday and wonder if that's why.

Minion · 22/03/2015 08:30

Congrats Lauren, amazing news!
wil and zyla, hugs to you both. Hope the little monkeys get sorted soon.
I love baby wearing, but I have a bad back after a horse jumping incident so I fear I won't be able to do it much longer. Which is annoying as I bang into anything with the pushchair.

Tried R in her cot in a sleeping bag last night. Both lasted 5 mins.
Not ready at all. May have to go cold turkey on her, it's going to be painful. She's nearly too big for the moses basket.
Did anyone else's LO just roll around, legs in air, in their crib?
Also not looking forward to helping them learn how to sleep on her own. Not sure what method to adopt..

willywallace · 22/03/2015 09:04

Have you tried putting moses basket in cot and letting her sleep there to get used to it? The biggest thing I would say about sleep Min is that you don't have to teach them anything. I really believe all this advice about it is made up purely to make money from selling books etc. Obviously you don't want to be too elaborate and have to take her out in the car to get her to sleep but if you're just doing normal stuff - feeding, cuddling, gentle rocking - they'll just grow out of needing it. I had to feed/cuddle MiniWil to sleep as she would projectile vomit if you laid her down any sooner than half an hour after the end of a feed. When her reflux got better she slowly stopped needing it. She is a great wee sleeper now but I wasted so much time stressing about it.

FurryScoob · 22/03/2015 09:51

Great news lauren

Hooya juni but I'm abit Envy you sometimes still get to bf to sleep, I miss it.

min I put DD in the big cot to nap in the day so she gets use to waking up in her room. Going cold turkey & putting her straight in at night was an epic fail, she just kept rolling around & thought it was playtime then got grumpy because she was so tried but wouldn't sleep.

RPopz · 22/03/2015 10:04

I know loads of people who love the connecta wil - I actually wish I'd tried one before getting the ergo. Might be worth a try if you can borrow one?

I like babywearing sometimes and my lovely pram sometimes Smile There's a lot of ardent baby wearing nuts on my local sling fb page who are proper anti- pram. Don't even own one! And get all judgey about people who use them. That kinda pisses me off a bit.

Great news Lauren Smile

Oooh I feel your pain min ... there is no fucking way the bednest is going to last til 6 months here. He only has another head's worth of space in it Shock I don't really want to put him in his own room though because I'll get less sleep that way... Angry Don't know what we'll do. The Moses basket in the cot is a good idea. Will she go in the cot for daytime naps?

willywallace · 22/03/2015 10:08

Oh yeah I second Furry's suggestion - I did that too with MiniWil. I have forgotten most of what I did last time...

willywallace · 22/03/2015 10:10

How can you be judgey about prams?! 'Oh those poor babies, having to lie down all snuggled up in blankets...' Some people have far too much time on their hands Grin .

willywallace · 22/03/2015 10:11

not me, being constantly on mn obviously

RPopz · 22/03/2015 10:46

Haha, it was some woman saying how she'd made a spur of the moment decision to jump on a train to the shopping centre. And was there and back within the hour. "Lets see someone manage that with a pram" ... I was like, FUUUUUUCK YOOOOOOOU Angry

RPopz · 22/03/2015 10:47

Me and MrPopz dtd this morning... Oh God the friction! Shock I wasn't expecting it to hurt. Bloody condoms.

laurenamium · 22/03/2015 11:16

Grin popz! I keep meaning to ring to make an appointment for the coil back in, it's top of my list to do tomorrow...

min DD went in her big cot to sleep in the day for a bit, it is hard though its such a big step emotionally for you too! Isaac is so small he will be in his Moses basket and swing crib a good while Grin

willywallace · 22/03/2015 11:41

What do you think of the coil Lauren? I'm thinking about it as can't tolerate hormones in other contraceptives but I thought because they were more localised with the coil it might be better?

Why can't you take a pram on the train? Confused The people on my local page have a thing where they spot other babywearers and describe what they had and where they were. Totally weird.

Minion · 22/03/2015 12:35

She already sleeps in her Moses inside the cot so hopefully that won't be too much of an issue, it's just the rolling around, legs in the air, ooh look how much space I have now.
I'm thinking, swaddling to continue otherwise she rubs the crap out of her face, then in cot like that. Then slowly, one arm free. Then two.. And then sleeping bag.
I had a feeling this one may be ok sleep training wise, fuck, she sleeps anywhere, asleep right now, in the study.

Ouch popz, we DTD when we stayed out at the hotel! with condoms... Couldn't get anywhere as we needed some slippery help and shops had closed.
Frustrated!

laurenamium · 22/03/2015 14:28

I liked the coil wil I never had any side effects at all and it was nice to not have to think about it!

We are home Grin and already I can tell DP is going to be a nightmare. He's hovering over him and rocking him every time he stirs. I'm biting my tongue but he's going to create a nightmare if he carries on!

ZylaB · 22/03/2015 17:11

The coil made my AF even heavier and more painful, I didn't like it.

Will the gp think I'm fussing if I take H back again? We went twice last week, but the gaviscon seems to have stopped working, she screamed all last night and most of today so far. I can hear her stomach gurgling and her throat. If they don't want to offer anything else can I insist on a paed referral? I know I worry and I know babies cry, but this seems like real discomfort/pain...

JuniDD · 22/03/2015 17:38

Aw, poor DD zyla. I'm a firm advocate of going to the GP a lot, actually, as that often seems to be the only way they refer you on.

Yay for Isaac being home lauren. Have a lovely first day/night as a family.

wil, I think DD got used to having something to sit "on" in a sling as the ABC has a padded waistband and there's an X in a woven. She just didn't like the connecta. We also tried a Boba 4G, Ergo and Manduca which are all quite similar. What are using atm? That said, she's quite happy in a ring sling and there's no seat in that. If you go for a RS popz watch Wrapping Rachel's youtube vid on threading the sling. I actually got it on really well today following her advice.

MrJ is off to the US for the week tomorrow so flying fully solo from tomorrow...it'll be interesting to see if him not being here makes much difference. He doesn't necessarily do a lot but another adult around is definitely a good thing!

Argh!!!!! When the hell does breastfeeding stop creating crippling abdominal pain?!?!!! I'm dreading each feed because I'm such a wimp the pain is making me cry :(

ZylaB · 22/03/2015 18:30

boo it's helping your uterus contract back nice and flat! I found it wasn't noticable within a week or so. The painful letdown took longer and I still curl my toes occasionally, but it's fairly brief now.
Hope it goes soon.

Minion · 22/03/2015 18:46

boo it lasted about two weeks for me. But that weird area above belly button and below boobs never went as flabby as it was before so in the wise words of someone I have no idea who, pain is beauty...ish

zyla def bug them! bug them hard, our gp admitted the only thing she knows about infant reflux is what her boy had! and she only found out about it when her new husband said his first boy had been through the same thing. So she really didn't have a clue, it took an out of hours gp referral at the hospital for us to get somewhere. R dropped from having 180mls per feed to something ridic like 50mls per feed for them to take notice. She dropped a centile, the gp wanted to wait another week to wait and see. I wasn't prepared to wait.
If in doubt, ring the ooh.

JuniDD · 22/03/2015 19:43

Congrats boo!!
I have no recollection of the afterpains, though know I had them (was on a lot of painkillers tbf). What is this "flat" stomach area you are speaking of?! (am loving bf but looking forward to dieting at some point in the future)

Congratulations boo Grin

TheBooMonster · 22/03/2015 20:05

But my uterus is freaky, it's already crept right back where it came from, this is just cruel, and they're only giving me paracetamol for it Sad

TheBooMonster · 22/03/2015 20:08

Thanks viroids! I'm loving being on the postnatal ward, it's quiet if you can block out the rooms that as it turn out are the MLBU and they bring me cauliflower cheese! And they were more than happy to keep me in which is good. Just a shame DH has abandoned me and spent most of the day at home catching up on sleep Angry
