Geeky, do you have a spare bed? I'm sending DH to the spare bed at about midnight each night so he gets some sort of decent sleep, then he's much more use helping out with ds and dd in the morning. Deal is he's to come in at six and take them away downstairs so I can have a couple of hours sleep uninterrupted. Also, he's to do the night feeds on a Saturday night so I can catch up on my kip ;)

Frenetic, will your ds sleep if you have him in bed with you? Obviously co-sleeping isn't really ideal but if you both get some rest?

I'm torn with dd, she's so little and she just wants human contact but I do need to sleep too so I'm trying to get her to settle in her basket but I feel bad about it.

Feeding too. Zzzzzz

Popsicle30 · 23/02/2015 05:57

Geeky make sure you try and get some sleep during the day when LO is sleeping.

I can't complain this morning as she only woke twice during the night for her nappy change and feed and went back over. No cluster feeding last night. I hope this is a sign of things to come but we shall see...

Suef I do love her name but like you I'm biased Wink.

Popsicle30 · 23/02/2015 05:58

Oops surf not suef!

BanglesSpangles · 23/02/2015 07:41

Morning all

Crikey geeky thats a lot of poo! Hope you get some cat nap time today!

Im taking the possibly mental step of taking a two week old to the zoo today. My dsis had tickets with tesco club card that are expiring this week, so we are off on a day trip. Wish me luck!

Memphisbelly · 23/02/2015 08:19

Bmgles have a great time!

Geeky wow we had 3 in the night but 5!

Ds is back to school to do I am so sad after a lovely week together

mildatheart · 23/02/2015 08:38

Hello all. Yesterday had a day of cluster poop, 5-6 dirty nappies in about 3 hours.
Best way to get through it was to sing "I'm just a pop machine / my bum is never clean" to the tune of Girls Aloud's Love Machine.
My main problem has been with weight gain. E was born at 37 w weighing 10lbs, only because I'm a type 1 diabetic. He got to 9.6% weight loss and has been constantly weighed, seemed by children's hospital, etcetera.
I was told to feed him 3 hourly but I kept telling Mw how he'd just fall asleep after 5 minutes and nothing would rouse him.
It was only when I went to my GP on Thursday that she pointed put that the massive dose of Lobitalol I am taking for pre eclampsia has a sedative effect and that this was probably the cause if his sleepiness.
Dose has been cut and top up every feed increased to 60 ml and what do you know? 130g on in 2 days!
Frentic I'm very impressed by how much you can express. I only manage around 30ml.

LittleMissSunshine33 · 23/02/2015 08:54

Hi all marking my place been MIA since Jacob was born on Wednesday. Still very sore after birth had a bit of scare at the end needed forceps and to be cut, I then hemorrhaged and Jacob needed resuscitating! Had to stay in hospital for a blood transfusion but feeling better now and Just settling in with him and loving it. OH is being amazing! LO isn't pooing since I've establish BF so night times aren't too bad although he definitely sleeps more in the day than night why is that?!!

GeekyHybrid · 23/02/2015 09:19

bangles enjoy the zoo. memphis it's only 5 weeks until the next holidays - not that I know a lot of teachers, or that they're counting down to the next holidays or anything Wink

I was unlucky on the nap front yesterday. 1st time I started dozing it started raining so I had to dash out to rescue laundry from the line. This cued LO to wake, nappy, feed etc.. He was just falling asleep 'on the boob' and I was contemplating putting him down so we could nap when IL's arrived cue him sleeping like an angel for 2 hours on MIL. I know, wasted opportunity. Trust me, I think we'll all nap this afternoon Grin

Little miss I thimk its the norma for more sleeping in the say than night until they sort their own body clock out.

Geeky yes my fb feed has a few countdowns to easter by teacher friends.Grin This term they are learning about dinosaurs so if ds isn't top of his class for that then it proves his teacher has it in for him.....he knows more than most on dinosaurs Grin

L1ttleMissGiggles · 23/02/2015 10:11

Morning Ladies and Babies. Another day with no action here. I go to bed every night thinking that it might start in the night but noth no. I've come to the conclusion that I must have a 5* womb! Hope everyone is all ok. Sounds like some of you have had eventful nights! X

tonightsthekindofnight · 23/02/2015 10:21

Operation survival here today. Was up hourly through the night, husband back to work today and both my dad and mil who I had roped in to help with my big two are ill in bed. Going solo with four, ARGH!! Eldest at school on time and everyone washed and dressed but house looks like a bomb has gone off!!

Anyone know what sort of weight gain is normal for bf babies. We haven't got babies red books as hospital have ran out so I haven't got centile charts. My girls are nearly five weeks and in the last ten days Martha has gained from 6.11 to 7.13 but poorly Annie has only gone from 7.1 to 7.2. Hv is concerned so coming back next week. I know the discrepancy between them is not good but I'm not sure what sort of weekly gain is good?

longbottom · 23/02/2015 10:32

I think something is happening!!
Browny blood discharge, back ache, a few tightening's! Fingers crossed ladies ??

L1ttleMissGiggles · 23/02/2015 10:38

Keeping fingers crossed for your long Grin x

LittleMissSunshine33 · 23/02/2015 11:00

Fingers crossedThanks

GeekyHybrid · 23/02/2015 11:29

Good luck long, hope things progress. littlemissgiggles your time will come before too long!

tonights I can't remember if your girls were pre-term or not, there's different charts in my red book. I read somewhere that 8oz per week once back at birth weight was 'normal'. I'm no good at the imperial / metric conversion and red book is metric Confused It sounds like your hv is on the case. As someone else said - if they're producing wet and dirty nappies they're eating enough so try not to worry too much. Also growth often is in spurts so the two of them won't be exactly the same, despite looking so similar!

Grinningcat · 23/02/2015 12:11

Good luck long. Very jealous as still nothing happening here today.

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 23/02/2015 12:19

tonights if you google WHO growth charts for girls you can get up the charts that are used in the red book. It is normal for weight gain to stop or dramatically slow whilst ill, but they should gain quickly once better to make up for it.

Don't worry about the house being a tip I think you've done brilliant just to get the eldest to school and everyone dressed by yourself at this stage and on so little sleep.

freneticfox · 23/02/2015 14:34

Zombie alert. LO wouldn't settle anywhere but on me last night so just gave in and sat up until about 5am with him in my arms so he could sleep. DH woke up once but insisted on going back to sleep as he said he was knacker. First time he's not jumped to help me out... On his own admittance he's very difficult when being woken up and I'm trying not to take it personally but I feel a bit more vulnerable at the moment. I know I'll have to take the majority of the night when he's back at work next week, but I'm still so sore. Sorry for the whinge, he's mostly been amazing, but I'm tired too!

First HV today, back up to birth weight plus 1oz. Assured that this is good. Also got some leaflets for mother and baby groups in the area which I'll definitely check out. Family are hours aways and our local friends all work full time. Worried about struggling alone.

Memphisbelly · 23/02/2015 17:56

Frenetic when on paternity leave dh did the feeds for me but so he could stay away as for the first 10 days he would only settle being slept on he went to bed at 8pm and slept until midnight then I went up and he woke for night could y do something like this sleep from tea until midnight and ephe has baby then you wake when he goes to bed? Have you tried looking for an app of womb noises? Our ewan the dream sheep is our nightime life saver

tonightsthekindofnight · 23/02/2015 18:03

Thanks for the advice, there are lots and lots....and lots of wet and dirty nappies so I'm sure everything will be fine. Think their being two just gives an added dimension to feeding and weight gain worries!! You might think by baby 3 and 4 I might be less neurotic!!

Frenetic I second Ewan the dream sheep. Both girls go down awake quite happily with him!!

freneticfox · 23/02/2015 18:07

I had to Google Ewan the Dream Sheep... Worth a purchase then?
