Tonights he is amazing isnt he, even dh says the harp music is relaxing!

tonightsthekindofnight · 23/02/2015 18:16

I'm a bit in love with him. My toddler is even soothed too when she comes in our bed...every night!

Maybe try white noise on your phone and if it helps sooth then invest in the sheep? I find the one with a heartbeat best.

Memphisbelly · 23/02/2015 18:21

Don't they all have the heartbeat in the background?
The harp has the heartbeat thud behind it.

Its been worth it for us already, i put it at foot of moses basket I put a pic of him on my fb asking if they had voodoo powers and quite a few people said how amazing he is

tonightsthekindofnight · 23/02/2015 18:29

The girls stare at him, reminds me of a scene from Indiana Jones where they are all in a hypnotic state! Maybe they do all have a heartbeat and I am too tired to notice!

longbottom · 23/02/2015 20:37

I'm at the same stage as this morning, I've definitely had some contractions, but nothing regular! Have had three poo's this evening Blush
Hope I can either get some sleep or it all starts properly!

Memphisbelly · 23/02/2015 22:13

Long fingers crossed tonight is the night!

Grinningcat · 23/02/2015 22:24

long fingers crossed for you that it does all kick off.

40 week Mw appt tomorrow and hoping I can get a sweep. I've had really strong BHs all day that aren't painless anymore, but not really counting on them as a sign of things happening anytime soon. Moving in the right direction though.

longbottom · 23/02/2015 23:31

Thanks, in the bath at the mo, definitely having contractions. They were about 3 minutes apart for about 25 minutes but have slowed down and are not as long Sad
I'm going to go to bed to try and and get some sleep. Although I don't feel tired!

Purpletoes · 23/02/2015 23:50

Long I hope it starts properly soon for you.

I have heard that sometimes a bath can contractions down a bit. But use the opportunity to get some rest in before the event.

Had first day at home with Alice. Did ok house is still a mess though as she clustered fed all day!

My ds went to childcare but I managed to walk there to pick him up and his childminder got her cuddles from Alice.

She is currently refusing to sleep in Moses basket as well!

Have changed so many nappies today as well. Who knew so much stuff could be held by someone so little!

Hope you have a better night frenetic.

Sorry on phone can't remember anything else. Good luck everyone still waiting. SmileSmile

freneticfox · 24/02/2015 07:55

I'm not sure how a newborn can function on zero sleep but my LO has managed it through the night.

Oh my god, please tell me it gets better.

Memphisbelly · 24/02/2015 10:50

Frenetic I was reading about to help set their body clock from day and night make sure you hoover/have tv/talk normally in the day then at night feed by dimmed light and don't talk just 'shhhh' or hum so sooth them helps to make them know difference, one thing thats helped us is the sleep baby bath with lavender in it we bath everynight at same time (after he has the evening meltdown) to help wind him down, he normally feels and drops off well after that.
It is just a phase, he is brand new, sadly rare that babies sleep well, once you get them sorted in one way something else happens teething/growth spurt/sleep regression.

Last night was hellish he slept until midnight then 2am then was on me from then, he dropped off earlier than normal and wouldn't wake for his late bottle so it set his routine he has set himself off sync. Imsurviving on crisps and biscuits today. Going to show him to my best friends mum today so I am looking forward to being mothered for an hour Grin

BanglesSpangles · 24/02/2015 11:15

Hey hey, health visitor's just gone. She was absolutely crackers- spent so much time nodding while she waxed lyrical about her daughter, old patients, the state of the nhs etc that i didnt actually find out anything helpful, like how often i should get the baby weighed, and whether there are any more health visitor appointments to look forward to... Very odd experience

Addictedtocustardcreams · 24/02/2015 12:13

Hello everyone- would it be ok to join in the club? Had DS on 21/02/15 and am still trapped in hospital as he is jaundiced so looking for any distractions!

freneticfox · 24/02/2015 12:57

Hi Addicted, and welcome! Hope you get out of hospital soon!

Bleeding is back today, think it's because I dared to go to Tesco yesterday. MW didn't seem to think I need to worry.

Getting frustrated with recovery, it's so slow!

PeppermintInfusion · 24/02/2015 13:39

EDD today! Had a few twinges since Saturday but nothing regular. He has really dropped though and feel aches and 'something' in my cervix so hopefully we are on the move. Friday is sweep day if nothing happens before then.

Popsicle30 · 24/02/2015 13:49

Welcome addicted and fingers crossed peppermint that you don't have a long wait.

Ooh bangles my first hv appt is at 2.30pm so wonder what she'll be like...

Addictedtocustardcreams · 24/02/2015 13:56

Thanks for the welcomes! Awaiting DS's bloods to see if we can go this afternoon. Feel like I have spent a lot of time waiting for stuff to happen recently. Was finally induced at term plus 10 days- all went very quickly once induction was started but been waiting to go home since the morning after. Now he is finally here just want to get home & get on with life (have 2 year old DD at home) rather than more hanging around waiting!

purpleteapig · 24/02/2015 14:32

Congrats on your son & hope you get home soon Addicted. I had a lengthy stay with my newborn last week - he had jaundice and then they determined he needed 7 days of antibiotics due to abnormal bloods - I was climbing the walls by the end!

GeekyHybrid · 24/02/2015 14:50

Welcome addicted, hope you're out soon.

Have we had any news on long?! Hopefully there's been no updates cos she's a bit busy Smile

About to have afternoon nap her. LO seems unsettled with OH going back to work and now wakes around 1 am for a 2 hour feed and nappy change fest Angry At least with OH on earlies he's home for (late-ish) lunch so we can all nap together! LO should sleep for a while as of course he demanded to be fed just as I sat down with my soup. Guess who now has tomato soup stains on their trousers! Clue: it ain't me Grin Blush

Frenetic don't be hard on yourself they do say 6 week recover for an Section, I have only just stopped bleeding and its my fifth week.

Grinningcat · 24/02/2015 18:05

Well I hope that no news is good news for long.

I saw my Mw today for my 40 week appt. induction is booked in for the 6th March!! And she doesn't believe that sweeps are any use for FTMs!! I will go mad if I have to wait that long.

Thankfully as it happens this afternoon I have been having regular mild contractions since 1pm every 15 mins. They are sharper than period pains and extend to my back, but are low down and I lost a proper chunk of my plug as soon as I got home from the Mw. I'm thinking it may be the latent phase of labour where my cervix is thinning so I'm hoping this means things will properly kick off before the weekend. I can't wait until next Friday!

jenmcspen · 24/02/2015 20:12

Welcome addicted Smile my LO was a bit jaundiced so we stayed in a bit too

Have been a bit absent from the thread and Fb more than I realised...I have been struggling a bit the last couple of weeks and still feeling a bit crappy.

Hoping to be around a bit more as the support on here really helps Smile

donkir · 24/02/2015 20:29

Hmm Just given Logan his first bottle of formula. He downed 5oz so obviously needed it. For the past week he's been fussy from 4 till 9 wanting constant feeding but getting really stressed out like he's not getting anything. Tonight he was inconsolable so we gave in. He seems so much more chilled now. Hopefully we'll get a good nights sleep. Off to breast feeding support group tomorrow so hopefully they'll be able to help.

Memphisbelly · 24/02/2015 20:38

Jen rmember we are here to chat when you need the support.

Donkir hope you get some better sleep, 5oz is good going!

The baby has developed a cough, he sounds like a can barely breath from his nose although doesnt looked bloked and he keeps gagging bit worrying but not sure when to do, when asleep he is relaxed

Grinningcat · 24/02/2015 22:21

Fingers crossed this is it. Just had a bath and my contractions are definitely getting stronger and about 10 mins apart. Still not convinced it's active labour yet, but think that I have a restless night ahead of me.
