Morning all and good luck purple, blank and lancashire!

Have had some almighty sicks in the night and this morn... Not had that before... Wonder what ive done differently

freneticfox · 21/02/2015 11:36

Good luck for those on the cusp today, look forward to updates!

Rough night. LO does not like sleeping at night time!

Katsand · 21/02/2015 13:25

Morning all :-)

Omg there must be something in the air that's kicking things off good luck to everyone.
Things here are going ok. The night before he refused to settle and I was thinking that if it continues like this we are in trouble. Then last night he slept so sweetly. Woke up ate then slept again. I think he was hungry and not getting enough. Now my milk has come properly and he's a very happy little boy.
His cord fell off yesterday (3 days) so I was a bit chocked by that, thought it would take longer but it looks good so should be ok.
Midwife will weigh him tomorrow so will be interesting to see if he has lost a lot.
Someone mentioned cluster pooping. Yes!!!! Mine does.
Last night 3 times in one hour. Gave him bath and put on nappy within minutes he pooped again. Was getting ready to take him upstairs but he just kept popping so took one hour.... Just don't want his bum to get sore...
Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend :-)

Grinningcat · 21/02/2015 14:02

Urgh. Have ended up with a migraine which started about noon. Yuk. Have managed the whole pregnancy without one. Mind are usually stress related rather than hormone, but wondering if it might be a sign the labour might be impending? Maybe a chemical change? Drop in progesterone? Has anyone else heard if this?

Honeybird · 21/02/2015 15:06

My lo tends to poop as soon as I put a new nappy on her. And we've had our first nappy explosion too, which was fun, I'd forgotten all about them!

When hv weighed her on day 11 she was 7lb 14, on day 5 she was 7lb 2 and was born at 7lb exactly. So if there was any loss she made it back very quickly. Just the way they are I suppose, genetic maybe, because my other two did exactly the same. Doesn't stop me being all smug about it though (super-milk?).

Honeybird · 21/02/2015 15:06

Hope things are moving on for all of you still waiting and sign-spotting!

purpleteapig · 21/02/2015 15:10

Hope things get cracking again for you both, Blank & Purple!

Kats - wow, you're lucky his cord fell off so soon - Rowan is 11 days old now and it's still firmly attached; it really gets in the way.

I was wondering if anyone else is using a hammock for nighttimes? We're using a miyo which he seems to like so far - whenever he is restless at night, it bounces up and down and is supposed to emulate being in the womb with the gentle rocking.

Honeybird · 21/02/2015 15:12

Never even heard of a hammock for babies, I am intrigued, about to google...

Cord fell off here on day 9, think that's about average?

L1ttleMissGiggles · 21/02/2015 16:30

No change here as yet honey.

Hope the walk has helped long? I've been pottering all day but not achieved very much. Just about to sit down with a cuppa and some hot cross bun bread. Not nom. Have curry for tea but not really in the hope that it will start anything off but you never know! Ideally I dont want the baby to arrive 2moro as it would share a birthday with the only member of our family to not congratulate us on the news of the baby. OH would be most upset. Sod's law it will come 2moro. X

freneticfox · 21/02/2015 16:30

When does non - sleep/grizzling become something to worry about? LO is feeding OK and filling nappies but he hasn't slept all day today (it's now 4.30pm). He'll have half hour spells of being calm but then grumbles and cries.. Starting to feel a little insane..

donkir · 21/02/2015 16:38

Frenetic we're also having a day like that today but we're at 3 weeks so it's a growth spurt day which is always hell.
Have you managed to get out for some fresh air. It might not settle lite one but just gives you some breathing space.

freneticfox · 21/02/2015 16:43

Not yet, recovering a uterine infection after my section, so walking is still quite unpleasant. He's only nine days old... Growth spurt already maybe?

GeekyHybrid · 21/02/2015 16:53

frenetic and donkir grisly day here too Confused Has barely settled since 7 am. Pretty much cluster feeding. I think they just have growth spurt days when they feel like it! He's also got a new habit of placing his fist right on my throat when he's on my shoulder for winding. Grrr Shock

GeekyHybrid · 21/02/2015 17:04

littlemissgiggles I couldn't contemplate curry at the end of my pregnancy due to horrible heartburnSad And you're right, sod's law says LO will arrive the one day you don't want them to!

donkir · 21/02/2015 17:22

Frenetic I think growth spurt days are day 5,10, 2 weeks, 3 weeks and 6 weeks. Logan got his 10 day and 2 week ones a day early. Like you I had a big baby so this can happen.

Feeling excited I've managed a soak in the bath with bubbles Grin it's been just over 3 weeks since my last bath (I've showered obvs) and its bliss. Plus my tummy is now covered with nice warm water and not stuck out in the cold.

Memphisbelly · 21/02/2015 17:28

Frenetic grizzling and being unsettled is probably this weeks phase ds only stsrted settling more out of his grizzly stage at 3 weeks, have you thought about a dummy? Remember he can sense if you are stressing. Humming while you hold them settles them as this is apparently how you talking sounded to them in the womb

Ds grizzles in the day he is normally in his screaming unsettled phase now but we changed his daily walk to an afternoon one and he is a lot more chilled. I realised this screaming has only been on half term...no afternoon walk to school so this is probably the reason for grumpyness.

He woke at 1.30 amd was up crying and grizzling for over 2 hours, dh was out so i was shattered from pacing the hall. Then remembered Ewan the sheep and he dropped off instantly.... He really does have magic powers.
Collected my sling and he loves it totally calms him.

Im off out tonight, new shirt is bought, nails painted only problem is dh is going for s bike race at 7am so I will be rough tomorrow with no one to make me teaGrin

freneticfox · 21/02/2015 18:08

He already has a dummy- but he tends to spit it out the minute he's put down in his moses basket. Apparently only a pinky finger will do! Found a bit of a groove this afternoon, he fed around 170ml over the course of two hours and then fell asleep. If that's a pattern he's going to stick with for a bit, can at least anticipate his next move... then again I assume trying to predict babies is much like trying to nail hot chocolate to the wall...

Ah, newborns. I know everyone says to cherish these early days, revel in them etc. And sure, when cuddling with LO or watching DH cuddle with him I do feel an overwhelming abundance of love. But I'm already daydreaming of the weeks ticking by to the part where things become a teeny bit more routine. Rough pregnancy, rough birth/recovery, I'm yearning for cruise control!

longbottom · 21/02/2015 18:37

Walk seems to have done nothing a Giggles! I too have just eaten curry for dinner and will be bathing in clary sage tonight, really want baby this weekend!

Purpletoes · 21/02/2015 19:54

I hope things are going better for blank than me.

So spent 4 hours in labour triage. Still in pre labour was only 1 cm dilated. Hmm

Hardly any contractions or pun in hospital.

Now I am home have loads. My poor ds keeps asking what's wrong with mummy? Sad

Hoping it either stops and let's me sleep or just gets on and does something not sure I can cope with another 48 hours like this as they will not induce before Monday.

Also my bloods after eating are above acceptable levels but the Drs were ok with that.

Sorry for the pity rant just so tired and sore.

Frenetic sorry you are having such a bad time. I promise it gets better. Xx

longbottom · 21/02/2015 20:45

Oh no purple, hope things have ramped up or your in bed sleeping like a baby! Bless your DS, I worry about DD seeing me in pain, she's a little worrier.

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 21/02/2015 21:48

grinning call labour ward, its probably just a hormonal headache but having not had them all pregnancy and then suddenly getting one this late on can be a sign of preeclampsia starting, so best to get checked out. Don't worry though, it probably is just general pregnancy hormones.

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 21/02/2015 21:56

Frenetic I strongly recommend a sling or carrier of some kind - was my lifesaver with DS - keeps them close to you and helps sooth them but makes you feel like your getting more of a break than when your just holding them.

freneticfox · 21/02/2015 22:13

I have a boba sling, soon as I feel I can manage with my scar I'll give it a try :)

tiredvommachine · 21/02/2015 23:48

Found you all!
Day 23 here and still plodding on with lots and lots of feeding and sleeping (alas, on us rather than moses basket).
My little one just wants to be held and I don't mind but it's really frustrating that I can't get anything done whilst he is asleep on me so have bought an AmaWrap sling from eBay and hoping it'll give me more freedom to catch up with everything that needs doing Smile

freneticfox · 22/02/2015 00:00

Night time rolls around and the dread creeps in.. Was so naive to not think about the months of this ahead..
