Our first thread on the 'other side'. And may all our soon to be mummies join us in this adventure through the early days of parenthood as we continue to share exciting times.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Ah just googled, my hv said no one in uk has immunisations against TB snymore unless they have family living in areas of world that it is still arond a lot

Memphisbelly · 13/03/2015 19:49

Just text my friend whos inlaws live in Albania and she was offered the vaccine, she didn't bother with it though

sandulacek · 13/03/2015 19:53

Thanks Memphis. Hmmm weird, they even have a drop in clinics in my area. Hv said to have it asap. Confused.com Confused

Memphisbelly · 13/03/2015 20:08

Where do you live? On the nhs website it says some parts of uk like inner city London offer thevaccine as it has higher rate of tb cases

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 13/03/2015 20:12

Sand some areas of uk are experiencing high (compared to normal) levels of tb, so it is standard practice to offer it in those areas. For the rest of uk it is only offered to babies whose parents are planning to take them to "high risk countries", or whose families live in "high risk countries" and are likely to visit.

BanglesSpangles · 13/03/2015 20:18

Hey all, seem to have been a bit incommunicado the last few days

My HV said they dont vaccinate against TB in our area as there's no risk of it apparently

Had two pretty good nights, followed by a not so good one yesterday, which was helpful as we had our first baby sensory class this morning and had to leave the house really early. We tried to increase feeds to 5oz too, but LO was having none of it and did a huge tactical sick in his bouncy chair... Again, helpful with the whole 'needing to leave the house early' thing!

Really worried of making him throw up again by over-feeding him, but he clearly needs more, so we're feeding every two hours, or he goes absolutely bat-shit mental. Sighs

sandulacek · 13/03/2015 20:32

It is prob the area. We're in London, lewisham...The next road is Bromley borough where they don't offer it!

Honeybird · 14/03/2015 07:23

We have had the bcg for my first two due to dh's nationality, and will get it for number 3. One nurse said tb was a disaster waiting to happen after the routine vaccinations were stopped. I remember having the jab, like everyone else, as a teenager...

sandulacek · 14/03/2015 08:16

Wow what a quiet night...on here Grin

We were up our usual 12, 2 &5 ish. Lo was really fidgety at 5, coming off the boob all the time as she was drinking greedily so I took her off and winded her to calm her down. Then she didn't want any.

Hope everyone else had a good ish nigh.

GeekyHybrid · 14/03/2015 09:21

sand that sounds just like Isaac at 8am ish. He fed fine at 7 am, filled a nappy but then fussed and messed about at it for ages. He's now asleep in his basket so I'm eating breakfast with both hands, for once Grin

Being 'up north' is seeing us out and about a lot, visiting and spending time with my mom etc hence not a lot of mn time Hmm I've managed to keep up with reading the thread, I do hope the quiet night on the thread is a reflection of RD! Fingers crossed for those of you struggling with nights Thanks Thanks

Both mine have had BCG but that is because DH was born in India. Not standard in this area.
Had a bit of a moment of near melt down when both children were screaming at 1am this morning but after they finally went back to sleep DS did a 3 hour block (longest so far!) & DD had a lie in until 7:30 so feeling ok today.
hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

LancashireTea · 14/03/2015 15:11

After family snuggles this morning we were all up, dressed, fed (three times in lo's case) and out by 12, which may not be found impressive for some but was for us. Went for out first pram trip into town and round the shops before me and OH treated ourselves to new pans and knives.
We managed two hours of walking before she woke up and screamed for the 20 minute walk home. But I'll be dammed if I'm going into a café or the toilets just to bf when I can walk back and do it in the comfort of my flat.
I have a house full tonight. Semi dreading it as I won't get my evening nap and one of my friends is a bit judgy-pants so will potentially pull his face when I bf. But then he can sod off home if he wants. At least my friends are bringing dinner!
Happy Saturday!

Memphisbelly · 14/03/2015 21:00

Lancashire hopecyou have a nice evening.

Hope all of you lovely ladies have a lovely mothers day tomorrow, my dh is under pressure as every year he messes up mothers day and I end up upset, last year we got married on mothers day weekend so he saw this as a reason not to get me a card...so he ended up going out just before shops shut in a mad panic to try and make amends this year, got morning with his mum and I am cooking for us and my mum.

Bangonthedoor · 14/03/2015 21:37

memphis, sounds like my DP! It's always a rush and he sees it all as quite unnecessary. I remember he once bought me a valentines card but didn't actually write in it..

I hope everyone has a lovely day tomorrow FTM or not Grin

It's always a bit bitter sweet for me as it's hard not having my mum around and reminds me that she's not actually here. But I'm lucky that I have my gorgeous girls to spend the day with.

Memphisbelly · 14/03/2015 21:48

Bang must be so hard but also lovely as this year is your first wit LO.
Annoys me with dh as I always make sure his mum has something lovely. He is thoughtful in other ways but with gifts he is awful

GeekyHybrid · 14/03/2015 22:03

Lancs I hope your evening is going well. Saw loads of friends today but ended up taking all day cos of everyones different schedules etc Hmm Knackered. And off to do it all again tomorrow in the village I lived in 10 years ago Grin Should be slightly easier as I've set 2 places that I'll definitely be and that's that! Hope everyone enjoys mothering Sunday Wine

My boy has been sleeping most of the day and is already sparked out... I so hope this is a growth spurt.

The irony is hilarious. I desperately hope for him to sleep. When he sleeps, I bloody worry. Hooray parenting!

Thinking of you, bang. I have the same heartache around father's day. It's tough x

GeekyHybrid · 15/03/2015 03:10

GeekyHybrid · 15/03/2015 06:22

LO definitely seems extra grizzly, we're still on the 5.30 feed Hmm He screamed through nappy change - you would have thought I was torturing not helping him! And he's been sick on his other sleeping bag Sad I just hope he behaves better the rest of the day.
littlemiss pat on the head for effort to your OH Wink Bless

Happy birthday Geeky and happy Mother's day to everyone else! Flowers

My friends behaved themselves and we had a lovely night. Then LO spent the next 2 hours being grizzly but overall slept in nice 2-3 hour chunks.

Bangonthedoor · 15/03/2015 09:42

Happy birthday geeky! Thanks

Does anyone know where I can buy strength by the bottle??? Sad

jenmcspen · 15/03/2015 10:09

Happy birthday geeky hopefully after such a busy night u will get to have a more relaxing day today.

Had the first decent night in a week here so feel human for once! Hope everyone has a fab mothers day and gets spoiled (or at least a bit of a rest!) Grin

Grinningcat · 15/03/2015 12:00

Had the best night'sleep I've had since before Christmas. DH said he'd do the night feeds so I could get sleep as he'd had a lie in the day before. I had a lovely bath then almost straight to bed. Even then DS only fed at 11.30pm and 4.30am before waking at 7.30am so actually we both had a pretty good night. I did wake for the 4.30 feed, but it was nice not to get out of bed to deal with it.
