Good luck STIGZ hope you survive the day!!
We had a good night, only got up twice to give a dummy and she slept until 7.30!! Total fluke I know may be due to 2 cans of cider?? but makes me feel hopeful she'll do it again one day Smile

tattyblue · 07/02/2015 08:57

stigz I hope you make it through the day. The fact that at some point I might have to do a children's birthday party us the sort of thing that would wake me up in the night screaming, if I didn't have a baby to provide that service.

We had a crap night and now she's all snotty. Poor snotty baby. Poor sleepy me. At least it's a Saturday.

Errrr2012 · 07/02/2015 08:58

butt and sazzits a new skill isn't it juggling toddler and baby!! I'll try the CBeebies routine see what happens.

The other poster just had a 'holier than thou' type tone that I cant really put my finger on but she made me grouchy so I stopped following. I know that makes me sound like a right grump - I'm not I promise!!

Good luck with Frozen!! Let it gooo!

sazzlehopes · 07/02/2015 10:00

Fair enough errrr they're the types I avoid at baby groups, if I ever went to any. Poor neglected second child!!

Yes sometimes I literally collapse on the sofa from attempting to get both to bed and feel like I'm being fair to ds1 - not rushing him, shhhing him etc too much. So hard. Cbeebies works for us, or a recorded prog of his choice. Half an hour is all I really need if it's going to work smoothly. I also start the process waaaaayyy sooner than I normally would. Plus I eat with ds1 so at least if I'm up settling ds2 all Eve after I haven't got the hungry anger = hanger!

Errrr2012 · 07/02/2015 10:08

Haha! Yes the hanger! I've started eating with DS too, takes the pressure off the evening.

MundayCakes85 · 07/02/2015 10:13

In awe of you ladies with more than one child! It's all I can do to feed the cat whilst wrangling the one baby!!

FATEdestiny · 07/02/2015 11:28

Good luck with your party STIGZ. I love the chaos of a good party and waving goodbye to everyone at the end even better

A nightfeed is making an unwelcome return here, usually around 5am ish. Not that bad compared to others, but having not done a night feed in 2 months it's a shock to the system.

4 months growth and developmental spurt. She's learning loads of new things. I don't think I can change the fact that she needs an early morning feed. I tried a few days this week packing her with milk through the day and it didn't mke any difference. So I assume it is just a brief regression that she'll get over.

Here's hoping Confused

RudyTuesday · 07/02/2015 11:50

Hi everyone - great to see there's life in the old board. Enjoyed reading your settling routines, sounds very familiar.

My regular putting down fail is having a sick cloth on my shoulder that lands on his face as a I gently place him in cot. Doh!

tattyblue · 07/02/2015 12:25

Rudy sometimes my glasses fall off as I lean over to put her down and bonk her in the nose. Massive fail. Seriously thinking about getting one of those string things.

Snotty baby snoozing on me. I think this is going to be our day- I'm planning to stuff her as full of milk as possible in case her nose bungs up completely. Even though she's poorly I still feel vaguely guilty about just sitting on the sofa.

Hoping last night's renewed horror was just the onset of this cold, as things were starting to feel slightly easier in the evenings up till then. fate I hope your regression is short lived.

FlipFantasia · 07/02/2015 13:54

Stigz enjoy the party! We're big frozen fans in this house!

I feel a bit broken after a dreadful night's sleep. Time to fuel up on caffeine!

sazzlehopes · 07/02/2015 14:11

Flip I'm with you. Kettle is on!
Dh took ds1 to swimming this morning early so it meant despite getting up at half 5 I was back in bed at 8 and he napped for an hour and a half which was amazing. So despite the nipple chewing from 2-5 and all the wake ups before that I feel a bit better!

The hanger is awful! I've also started making soup for evening dinner as its so cold. It also doesn't mind being reheated a million times so I can eat it whenever and dh has something half decent and healthy to come home to eat at 8-8.30... I couldn't wait to eat with him. I'd either be too hungry or often in bed!!!

MundayCakes85 · 07/02/2015 15:28

DH out all evening so I've got soup for dinner and plan to go to bed with baby at 7.30 Grin

tattyblue · 07/02/2015 16:29

I'm buckling myself in for a cracker. Baby has a cold, she had injections yesterday, and she's also producing rivers of drool and chewing miserably on her hand. She's now making that awful grumbly sad moan they do when they're proper sorry for themselves. Calpol has been administered, but I can't imagine any of us are going to get much sleep.

I'm in the soup gang. Also making a lot of curries and stews that can be consumed in gaps between child wakings. Dp's making moussaka tonight though Hurrah.

How's the party, stigz?

FATEdestiny · 07/02/2015 16:34

Our local leisure centre have a fantastic over 8s membership package. Today my eldest two children have gone for the sports/swim/rollerdisco afternoon. It has been absolutely lovely just me, DH, baby and 5 year old.

In other news, my Mum is having all four of my children for a sleepover at half term in 2 weeks time (rather than just the older 3, as she does each school hols). First time baby gets to go on a sleepover. I have no doubt that some on here may be horrified by the idea this. But me and DH are ridiculously excited about having a whole 24 hours child free.

Errrr2012 · 07/02/2015 17:00

fate that sounds amazing! And very good of your mum. My mum and dad wouldn't have my two for an afternoon!!!! I guess if baby isn't breastfed then why not?

bexster5 · 07/02/2015 17:05

Backtracking a bit... splendide I keep doing that too - coughing or sneezing. Then she screams!

Hoping for a good night of course but not expecting it. DD has been out of sorts for a few days now and only pooed once in all those days. Weird. Anyone else having poo issues?

FlipFantasia · 07/02/2015 17:09

Fate 24 whole hours - sounds like a lottery win!!

Splendide and Bex gah, the cough/sneeze crying fits. Dh had terrible black lung style coughing recently and my sympathy was minimal (poor guy!) as it would wake the baby up...

fatpony · 07/02/2015 17:34

Hello de-lurkers!

We've been making some small progress with naps. I now everyone already knows this but they do seem to have to be put down at the content stage. If at that stage I get two mins of 'why am I in my cot again grumble grumble zzzzz'. If he is already yelping or doing what DH calls his 'Allah' call (sounds like he is saying Allah!) it's too late and eye rubbing is FAR too late - I'm doomed basically.

Had the house to myself today from 10-4.30 as DH took M to an air museum. Felt at a bit of a loose end and missed my little companion! But spent about four hours in bed reading Anne of Green Gables and eating leftover Xmas cake. So a lovely day in the end!

Smooshie85 · 07/02/2015 17:48

Hello all the newbies and re visitors!
Sleep patterned here has gone a bit to pot due to last set of jabs and teething! Lo now has a tooth that is poking through the gum, but no teething aid is as good as mummy's fingers - I swear it's so sharp that it's going to draw blood!
At the moment dh has been settling lo a lot, I'm getting worried I won't be able to do it any more!
Lo is 17 weeks now, and is showing more signs that he maybe weened earlier than 6 months, but I definitely want to bf for at least a year.

ohthegoats · 07/02/2015 17:52

We took small over to my parents last night (we're living in their garage at the moment, so not very far!) - did bath other there, put her in bed upstairs, cooked dinner and watched the rugby, then carried her back in her sleepyhead (very carefully) and had until 1am before she woke up. Feels like we've got evenings cracked for a bit.

Obviously she then woke up at 2.30, 4, 5 and 5.50. Grr. I've had a nap today though so I'm going to try really hard to not feed automatically when she wakes up tonight, and instead try to settle her in other ways. Even if she shouts.

She'll self settle in the day now for early morning and lunchtime naps - the afternoon one happens when we're out and about usually.

Boyfriend had her today while I went out to try and find a swimming costume - my maternity one is too baggy, my pre pregnancy one is too tight. Oh the pain... nearly cried at state of body. Then wondered why the hell I was spending time without her at clothes shops, when I could have been asleep!

splendide · 07/02/2015 18:04

It's tricky working out whether to feed or not at night - or I find it so anyway. Last night he was so unsettled, just grumbling and squeaking constantly. Only properly cried once so that was the only time I fed him (was about 2 I think) but maybe I should have fed him more. I got basically no sleep anyway between lying awake listening to him and worrying and putting dummy in and more fretting.

We've had two weeks now of him going to sleep at 8 and not waking properly before 1.30 but I just go to bed at 8.30 so still not getting an evening! I just can't stand being awake when he's sleeping, feels like such a waste.

tattyblue · 07/02/2015 18:57

OhGod. Such a damp baby. What with the snot and the tears and the drool I've never seen so much liquid come out of one face.

bexster5 · 07/02/2015 20:26

Haha flipfantasia to limited sympathy for DH :/ I felt it was reasonable earlier to suggest to DH that perhaps he should go to the loo in the shed because we'd actually got the DC down for a nap (they've been refusing naps all week). Needless to say he just gave me A Look.

tattyblue :( oh winter is rubbish isn't it for damp babies. Hope yours GWS!!!

Splendide what is this world you speak of where you don't feed every time bub wakes up?! It hadn't even occurred to me to do that :/ I am creating SUCH a dependent baby! No wonder I have no evening and no sleep!!!!! And maybe why I'm the only one who can settle her - Smooshie85 any tips for getting DH involved?!

Ohthegoats have you tried online - m&s do a fab range of tummy control swimsuits which I've found remarkably flattering after DS and now DD! I hate shopping at the best of times. Sounds very miserable for you today (((Hugs)))

Hope everyone gets a good night's sleep!

Buttwing · 07/02/2015 22:04

Oooh it's gone quiet hopefully everyone is enjoying sleeping babies!

We have had a very busy day babywing didn't have his usual nap so has been grumpy this afternoon but has been asleep since 6.45 so can't complain.

We had a viewing on our house today so I was running round trying to tidy up this morning and stop the toddler trashing the house. I put a load of washing in and they we went out while the estate agent came and did the viewing.
When I came home I went upstairs and was greeted by the sight of a pair of my dirty knickers on the bathroom floor. I must have dropped them when I picked up the washing. Fan-fucking-tactic!!! Grin

MundayCakes85 · 08/02/2015 01:38

Oh dear Buttwing Blush I don't suppose there was any chance your knickers went unnoticed?
I went to bed with the baby, got to sleep by 9pm so missed her dream feed- she's just fallen asleep on my boob so hope that's it for the night.
Hope everyone else is having a peaceful night.
