FINALLY!! Congratulations to you and DH Leo on the birth of Toby and Leo. Wonderful news. As you can see, we were all waiting anxiously. Good luck with them, and we hope it doesn't mean we won't see you around any more.

Pidge · 01/03/2007 21:37

Fantastic news leo - have just posted on your birth announcement. I am now off to bed with a HUGE smile.

Leoladyofleisure · 02/03/2007 09:34

thanks for thinking about me while I was a little quiet and for all your messages and birthday wishes for Niklas ! We decided to postpone his birthday celebrations until we can make a proper fuss of him !

Nappy free house , it probably wouldn't take much effort with Niklas as he has pooed and peed on the potty, but other things are taking priority at the moment. And as for the other 2 I have 2 tiny poo factories! They both seem to produce little but very, very often - I don't remember Niklas being like that!
Niklas held Toby for the first time today and was VERY proud of himself! Of course I was sitting protectively by but Niklas kept pushing me away (he wants to do everything himself at the moment). He seems to be coping with the babies really well, although (compared to him, even wiht 2 of them) they seem to be quite easy so far so I am still managing to read him his bed time story and give him lots of attention.

We have all had bad colds/flu the last few day, I have a terrible cough which is really the last thing you want after having a cs!

Niklas's speech has developed unbelievably during his stay at dh's sisters, but in Swiss German, still not much progress on the English.

His favourite books at the moment are picture books rather than stories, we have some great ones that have scenes on building sites (the favourite of course ), playground, swimming pool, beach etc. He chooses those over story books almost every time - I also get really bored with the same thing over and over again!

Great to see everyone has been a bit more chatty over the last week or so!

ukrainianmum · 02/03/2007 13:03

Leo, better late than never but I've just posted on your birth announcement. I'm sooooo chuffed for you and it sounds like it's all going so well

Toby and Leo are adorable and look like two peas in a pod - are they identical?

Leoladyofleisure · 05/03/2007 10:18

Busy, thanks for the message! I think we can very safely say that Toby and Leo are identical (although identical is a bad word to describe monozygotic twins). They have different shaped heads and Toby has more hair but put hats on them and I can't tell which is which !

Pidge · 05/03/2007 21:15

Oh Leo - they are adorable - and Niklas looks such a sweetie. Are you popping with pride at your three gorgeous boys?

I am in absolute awe at the thought of managing two babies plus a toddler at the same time!

jambot · 12/03/2007 14:51

Happy belated birthday to Iris Pidge. Lauren had a lovely day on Friday, although her party was on Thurs. Had an "Under the Sea" theme which went down well. Loved her turtle cake.

Pidge · 12/03/2007 14:58

Oooh - ditto belated birthday greetings to lauren. The turtle cake sounds great. Iris got a victoria sponge with chocolate and hundreds and thousands on top.

She had her party on Saturday with about 10 kids, lots of dancing, some trampolining in the garden, and generally lots of fun!

Now she's mournful .... "birthday finished, mummy" she keeps saying!

ukrainianmum · 20/03/2007 10:30

Hello,hello,hello!!!

Pidge · 21/03/2007 09:16

still here ... completely snowed under at work, and seem to spend my life outside work doing marathon training!!

hope everyone else is doing ok!

JoPG · 21/03/2007 12:41

Good to hear that Ksenia had a good birthday. And Good Luck with your trip to see your DH.

Freya turned 2 on Saturday and she had a lovely joint birthday party with a little boy who has just turned 3. It was in a church hall and we hired a group called Scallywags to help entertain the children; they are like a gymnastics / soft play company. Freya had a fantastic time and she loved the Peppa Pig cake that I made her (I will post a piccies later, I am dead proud of my attempt!). She got loads of presents including a push along bike ('MY pink bike', she shouts at anyone who goes near it) and a Peppa Pig rucksack from her brother.

Popped to Bluewater this morning and spent far too much on a summer wardrobe for Freya - and the weather is absolutely freezing. At least I am nice and organised for when it turns warm again.

Leoladyofleisure · 26/03/2007 14:29

i'm still here as well but just briefly now, I will update properly later in the week!

all going well here, Niklas has been quite difficult the last week (understandably so for lots of reasons) or so and I have got really impatient and actually completely mad with him more than once !

Sorry I missed all the birthdays - do we still have a few more?

We had Niklas's birthday party last Sunday which was fun.

PIDGE - what happened to the Runners' thread????? I can't find a section for sport anymore and wanted to check up on your marathon chat!

Pidge · 26/03/2007 21:27

Hi Leo - I remember so well losing my rag with Cleo, and feeling guilty about it because she really needed a bit more attention after Iris arrived and I just couldn't give it. That side of things does get easier. And don't feel bad about not being perfect , you've got two babies and a two year old on your hands, something's got to give sometimes.

The runners thread is here by the way.

Training is going well - I have my one and only 20 miler due on Friday. All I need is to avoid Iris's latest cold germs! Feel free to ignore this, but if you're sympathetic to the asthma cause, you can sponsor me here .

Took Iris to the park today and it felt like the first signs of spring/summer were really on their way. It was a glorious day. And then after school we had four kids all out playing in the garden and bouncing on the trampoline. It seems like a long time since that happened.

ukrainianmum · 29/03/2007 22:03

hey girls.

little update- i am in London but had to leave Ksenia in ukraine.been here for a week now.looking for the new place to rent, for the new job and so on and on and on.

will update your more later,of course if you want to here it.

leo-thinking about you a lot and about how are you handling all the world arond you.But i am sure that all gonna be just fine but in time.

Pidge · 05/04/2007 16:54

We're off for Easter holidays - have a happy Easter weekend everyone.

jambot · 07/04/2007 06:57

Good luck with your new start Ukrainianmum. Hope you will see Ksenia soon.
All well here. Nothing much planned this weekend. Few family visits and an Easter egg hunt on Monday.
Lauren starts playschool 2 mornings a week next week. Have been a few times to get her acclimatised but haven't left her yet. She should be fine - loves the place and never wants to leave, so that's a good sign.
Have a good break.

Leoladyofleisure · 10/04/2007 11:30

Pidge, enjoy the easter break! I hope you stay cold free and fit until the big day! How exciting! I want to start running again but as my stomach muscles are so bad the doctor has said its not a good idea yet ! I did go out on my bike yesterday and have been power walking with the dts in the pushchair, but its just not the same as running!

Umum - hoiw is it going in London? Can Ksenia come and join you soon? I'm not going to ask you if you are missing her, it would be a stupid question !

Jambot, how was the easter egg hunt? We went to one on Sunday, there was a 5 year old girl there as well and we had to rush around with the little ones to help them find eggs before she got them all !

Niklas has really settled down again and is now much less tantrummy and absolutely adorable. He is very good with the babies and seems to adore them, its quite a surprise how he has reacted to them. He is still very demanding though and can drive us absolutely mad with his constant talking ! ITs interesting that he really speaks English to me and Swiss German to dh - his English is still mostly only one or 2 word sentences but still he can distinguish between the languages. Toddlers are so cute aren't they, they do and say the funniest things.

Its all going really well with the dts, they are growing into lovely strong fat babies (although never as fat as Niklas was), its really funny how different they are to Niklas, much calmer, can be left on their own for a while without screaming, can lay calmly and look at things - all this is a new experience for me :O!

Hope everyone else is doing well, this thread is very quiet these days !

jambot · 11/04/2007 08:28

So glad that everything is going so well with your little ones Leo and that Niklas has adapted so well. Quite a relief I'm sure. Eventhough the twins seem very good, it must still be very hard work, having 3 to look after.
Lauren loved her Easter egg hunt. My friend's mum dressed up as the Easter bunny and Lauren was very taken with her and even went up to give her a hug, which the rest of the littlies wouldn't do. The trick when there are big and little ones is for all found eggs to be put into one big basket and then dished out so that they all get equal amounts. We had the Easter Bunny waiting with a big basket and all the the kids would run up and put them in. No fighting over who had more than anyone else.

ukrainianmum · 22/04/2007 15:18

Hello ladies!!!

London is as london.Didnt change at all.

Glad to hear that everyone had a nice Easter.Ksenia is still hunting for that easte bunny with chockolate eggs.Of course i missed her terribly though she doesnt missed me a lot.One time i called to parents and she chosed to do some drowind insted of talkind to mum on the fone.An she noticed that i was gone after five days.

Leo-has been thinking about how are you doing with three babies in your hands.it seems like that you CAN manage it.

And was thinking about Jo today.Maybe she is doing that run in London marathon or maybe Busy??

It has been really quiet here for the last weeks.

Hope everybody is in a good mood and health.

Keep in touch.

Pidge · 22/04/2007 19:21

Ukmum- glad to hear London is up to expectations. Iris too is still talking about the Easter bunny!!

Don't think jo or busy were london-marathoning at least this year, but I was for sure!! My legs are so stiff I can hardly move, but I made it round and am about to see if I can manage a celebratory glass of wine without keeling over!

Hope everyone's enjoying this unseasonal heatwave. Could have done without it today to be honest, but in generaly it's rather nice.

JoPG · 22/04/2007 20:45

Hello everyone, I am back.
Have been without internet access for 3 weeks cos have been changing broadband provider, what a nightmare!
Hope everyone is ok and enjoying the lovely weather.
I took Freya to a small children's farm over Easter and she loved it. She held a rabbit, fed a sheep and got scared by the goats! She also went on a tractor ride. A lovely day

Have been experiencing my first sibling fights between Freya and Ethan. F has a little temper and can be quite contrary. Meanwhile E is happy to play with her, but he is a bit too controlling and wants her to do exactly what he wants. Doesn't make for harmonious play. I have been tearing my hair out the past couple of weeks. The only thing they seem to agree on is that they love to watch the Wonderpets on NickJnr, but let's face it I can't have that on all day long.

OP posts:
Leoladyofleisure · 23/04/2007 21:10

Umum - are you still in London?

Jo, Niklas would have loooooooved to go on that tractor ride! He is OBSESSED - tractors, diggers, cranes, trailers, cars.....!

We have been having a great time! Niklas is really wonderful at the moment but breaks my heart as he is such daddy's boy, i don't get a look in when dh is around. They have such a good relationship but I sometimes feel that I am not so close to him anymore as Niklas and dh are so obsessed with each other.

Today I had a very brave day! I took the 3 boys into Zurich with a friend and her 2.5 year old and 4 month old children. We drove to the friends place, then took a tram and then went on a ship on the lake to a beach with a fantastic playground. It is really hot here at the moment so Niklas and Anna were in the water splashing around. It took about 2 hours to get organised and get the car packed and was quite exhausting chasing after 2 toddlers and managing 3 babies between the 2 of us but a lot of fun and I'm proud of myself for getting through it with a smile on my face ! Its the first big outing I've done with all 3 and no other adult to specifically help me.

Right, I'm off to find the running thread to see how Pidge got on in the marathon!!!!!
