now where do i get mini wellyboots (size 4-5 for serena) havent seen a pair anywhere.

misdee - do Woolworths have them? I think that's where we got Cleo's, which are now Iris's of course!

Leo - great news on that bump. Last weekend I saw our friends who have an older child and then twins with a similar gap to the one you'll have, and they play brilliantly together. What a gorgeous family you will have. This is the same friend who didn't even know till 20 weeks second time round that it was twins!

By the way, I'd love that caramel-apple recipe. Yum. I have a friend who hates cooking but has apple trees in her garden, so am the beneficiary quite regularly.

I'm planning chocolate fig cake for Sunday tea this weekend!! Am I obsessed?

Ksenia is much better.No being sick last night.but doctors took away all medicenes and prescribed a new one.thanksfully not antibioticks.And it seems like it works.

Leo-Ksenia still drinks milk at night.And from 4 full!!! big avent bottles she is now down to 2,5.Touch the wood she will not go back on that amount again.And i did try not to give it to her but she is milkoholic

I think ksenia will start to talk soon.Every dayshe repeats more an more words.Even in English.We have this Blue Dog from Fisher Price which says lots of words like body parts and sings huge amount of songs and some simple phrases.So Ksenia says bye-bye in english but not in russian.or hug me or the biggest take off sounds like takov.And plus she is obssessed with killing the invisible mosquitos.

Still no rain here.The wellies will be worn in the bath just for fun.And the weather lady is starting to talk about snow.Soon -she says.So no swimming or lyuing in the garden for the next 8 months.

Misdee, Harri's in size 5 wellies and I got them from M&S - they cost about £6 if my memory serves me right.

Leo, Harri still has milk in a bottle first thing in the morning and at bedtime. He's big enough to stop but he loves snuggling up when he has his bottle and I'm quite happy with that He'll still be having a bottle when he's Hannahs age if I get to keep having snuggly mornings with him

Leo - personally I wouldn't worry about the bottle - unless he's sucking on it for hours or falling asleep with it.

Iris is still having milk from me twice or three times a day, but the evening feed generally consists of her wriggling around for about 3 minutes and then popping off to say "teeth" (i.e. brushing!) or "books". Far more interesting than milk obviously . So I think that feed is rapidly on its way out, which is just what happened with dd1. Morning feed was last to go at age 2.

Took dd1 for her first ever swimming lesson today (she went on her own and after a last minute panic during which she said "Mummy, you know, I'm not so sure this whole thing is such a good idea", which made all the other mums laugh in sympathy, she was so brave, and I was indescribably proud). Anyway, Iris and I went into the pool at the same time to have a paddle, and Iris is utterly deluded and things she can swim and spent the whole time saying "down, down" and trying to get out of my arms, and then swallowing half the pool and spluttering furiously! Still, she loved it.

Glad to hear Cleo's swimming lesson went well. We take Ethan and Freya every week - Ethan has a lesson on a sat morning and then we all join him afterwards for some playtime. Freya loves it, splashing ang throwing herself in. I thought Ethan was a daredevil at her age, but she is just as dangerous!

Freya has milk from an Avent cup in the evening only. She doesn't really get up in time to have milk in the morning. It's straight onto breakfast so that we can get out of the house on time.

Noticed that Adams had some small sized wellies if you still need to get some misdee.
Bought Freya a Halloween costume there yesterday, she will be dressed as a witch for the Halloween party we have all been invited to. I will post piccies of her after the event. Ethan will be dressed as a skeleton (same costume he had last year, but he is quite happy with it, so no need to buy another one)

Thanks for the reassurance about the bottle! Niklas does go into bed with it and would like to fall asleep with it (we started that on holiday as it was the only way we could get him to stay in his bed!), but I always take it off him before he goes to sleep and clean his teeth.

Glad to hear Ksenia is doing better! Niklas is also repeating lots of words and sounds, its very cute. If he hears something bang he says 'BANG' looks very proud and giggles!

I'm at home sick with a bad cold at the moment, still tbh at the moment i would prefer to be home and sick with a bad cold than to be at work. For different reasons (mostly pregnancy related) I'm really struggling at work and think i will see if i can get my doctor to write me off sick soon.

We haven't heard from Bonym for ages have we? I wonder how she is doing.

I haven't taken Niklas swimming for aaaaaaages, which is a shame because he loves it and i won't be able to take him and the twins together so we won't be able to go very often. we swum a lot on holiday though and i was encouraging him to kick his legs, so he now lays in the bath kicking and shouting 'kick, kick,kick'!

Pidge, here is the recipe. If your friend has a cooking apple tree I would perhaps try it with the cooking apples as the carmel makes it very sweet. Let me know what you think.
Also I cooked the apples and caramel in a frying pan (not oven proof) and converted it to an ovenproof dish (not posh enough to have a kitchen equiped with a 20cm tarte tatin dish!

You take care with that cold - tuck up on the sofa under a duvet with a nice magazine or something!

Swimming when you have more than one child is a pain - I couldn't go even with just the two that I have, as you're supposed to have one adult per child. Hence the swim lessons for dd1, because she hadn't been for ages, and this way I get to swim with Iris whilst she does a class.

Ok, Iris can now say "compost", but can't say "Cleo" what does that say about her priorities in life!

We had a very funny conversation with her about it last night which went like this.

Dp: Did you know Iris can say 'compost'?
Me: Can you really Iris?
Iris: Yes
Me: You can say 'compost'?
Iris: Yes
Me: Will you say 'compost' for mummy?
Iris: Yes
Me: Go on then, say it ...
Iris: [ long pause ... tension mounts ] ... POMPOST [sic]!
Cue loud aplause and guffaws of laughter from me and Cleo and big grins and clapping from Iris.
Me: Well, done Iris .... Can you say 'Cleo'
Iris: [long pause ... tension mounts] .... Nooooooo!

Oh dear, is Cleo getting upset about it?

Freya has a few words now, Mummy, Daddy, baby, yes, no, goal (random word picked up at DS's football training, accompanied by hands raised above her head!) However, she will not even attempt Ethan, and he is getting a bit upset about it. I've tried telling him Ethan is a very difficult word to say, but he is not having it!

Cleo seems stoical! But it's very weird that Iris has so many words, but nothing for Cleo. She tags around after her like a devoted puppy at times. Maybe she just thinks Cleo is so integral to her life she doesn't need a name!

PS LOL at Freya's "goal". What a hoot.

Yes, great isn't it?! She's got about 6 words, and one of them is goal. Perhaps she has ambitions of becoming a footballer's wife when she grows up!

I've got fond memories of watching Match of the Day with Cleo when she was about the age of Freya and Iris and her leaping up and shouting "goaleeeeeeeee" whenever anyone scored. And then later, when she was more sophisticated - "look mummy, those men are having a nice cuddle!"

Hi all. I just caught up reading on the old thread, but I'm glad we've got a new one started. I too was wondering how they are still toddling into summer.

Who's Madmarchscare? Anyone of you with a new Halloween name?

We had Dominic's 7th birthday party today. He had 14 boys at a football centre. It went very well, in fact it was the most relaxed birthday party so far. It may be to do with their ages as well as they can cope well without parents, know each other, don't get emotional etc. Dominic turns 7 on Wednesday and he's got an MRI and CT scan scheduled for that day - what a b'day present but we didn't feel we could change the dates as they are hard to get anyway (it's for his future cochlear implant surgery).

Sylvia is doing very well. She enjoys nursery and is quite tomboyish, which is strange to see as she's still so small, blonde and delicate, you'd think she was more of a girly girl. Her vocabulary includes "gaol", "hurray" and "yuck-poo" (which all DS's friends ask her to say and she complies). Her eating is still a cause of worry and a degree of depression, but she does well at nursery it seems, eats seconds too and on one her sheets she had "veg soup and croutons x3".

It's so lovely to read about all the others, I can really picture them, e.g. Iris in the pool.

I'm still busy with my PhD and try to limit my time on distraction on the net. I've lost 13.5 lbs (down to 69.4 kg, just under 11 st).

Hello everyone, have been sooooo busy at work and home so don't seem to have much time to 'chat' these days.

Love all the words our babies have now. Harrison chatters away all day, never, ever shuts up really, but very little of it makes sense. However, he's just learnt to say 'nice' and smiles away shouting 'nice nice' whenever he's eating, doing something or watching something on CBeebies that he really likes. It's so lovely to get such great feedback. When he doesn't like something though he's as equally adept at saying 'yuck' in the loudest of voices. The other word he says a lot is 'sorry'

He calls Hannah 'Harri' for some strange reason, but she's happy as she knows what he's saying. Either that or he calls her 'sister' The other thing I really like is that he can now answer 'yes' or 'no' when asked a question. So I'll say 'Harri, shall we paint a picture' and he thinks for a bit and then says 'no' and trots off to find a book, brings it back and says 'story'. It's usually the same one I've read about 10 times that day already but at least he's able to communicate with me

His favourite thing to do at the moment is watch people going to the toilet, when he claps his hands madly and shouts 'wee wee'. Unfortunately, he's started wanting to get really close and look inside the toilet, at which point I want to use ne of his words and shout 'yuck'. I'd forgotten the fascination they get with toilets and really hope this phase passes quickly

Cristina - great to hear from you. And good luck for Dominic's appointments. Not to mention the PhD. I got a request for an electronic copy of mine from my supervisor recently - I finished it 7 years ago, and to my great embarrassment didn't actually have an electronic version. Anyway, after much faffing, we managed to locate a copy on an old archive tape from my lab, and then I had to re-generate the dratted thing as it was written using some software I no longer possess. All very complicated! So ..... when you're done .... keep several paper AND electronic copies!

Very quiet here today. Ethan is staying at his grandparents for a couple of days, and I am feeling a bit lost without him. He is back tomorrow so I will be able to enjoy the second half of half term with him. He is having a couple of friends round on Friday for a Halloween party, so that should be lively!

Freya has a couple of new words 'Mine' - usually shouted at Ethan when he takes something from her, and 'Lola' - as in 'Charlie and Lola'. She's getting there, but she won't be joining the debating society quite yet!
