Thanks CJ, not very nice red mark but otherwise seems fine. Having a munch on my nipple and chatting away to me. Didn't get a repeat of the 6 hour sleep yesterday

pebble we have the same thing on and off, generally when it's my night to do the putting down to sleep. Last night she screamed and cried until 2am when DH got up and within ten minutes she was asleep. I think she could feel me getting stressed out!

I have tried co sleeping in a morning with her but I don't know how you sleep, I was waking up every ten minutes dreaming I'd squashed her. what's the secret to successfully co sleeping ?

ohthegoats · 27/11/2014 07:32

Being so knackered that you sleep like a log in the same position you fell asleep in! I'm co sleeping at the moment so I can keep sn eye on her temperature. Our room is so cold that it sorting of worries me that it's too cold. If I've got a hot water bottle and two duvets plus pjs snd socks, what does she need. It's me and her in a kingsized bef, her not in the sleephead, just lying on the other side. We both get better slerp - her on her side, in s 2.5 tog bag and partly under the duvet. I can easily just drag her in the bag over to my side to feed lying down, then push her back. Ultimate in lazy feeding options. I should put her in the sleep head in our bed really, she slept well in that on her own until it got vold and I don't want her to get too used to sleeping in the big bef.

I just woke up with randomly massive boobs - sitting here expressing before I explode. Pip not very hungry in the morning - only wants one boob before playing then sleeping again.

Sorry for those of you having a bad time at nights. Try to remember it's a phase. That's all I hang on to when things are crap.

mrsb87 · 27/11/2014 08:13

Pebble we have that in the day and it can be completely exhausting. I hope you managed to get some sleep in the end?

YellowWellies · 27/11/2014 08:15

Goats have you seen the merino wool swaddle / sleeping bag over layers from swaddle up? That would be much safer than having baby partly under the duvet. Would you be able to get an oil fired radiator or electric heater? The long range forecast for after Christmas looks very cold.

Missus2ndwife · 27/11/2014 08:25

Hope you managed to get some sleep Pebble. That sounds awful.

I can recommend the Merino Togs. Expensive but excellent quality especially the Merino Kids type and suitable from 0-2years.

fedupofrainydays · 27/11/2014 08:28

I feel like I've got a hangover today and I only had one glass of wine! Think it's just tiredness and dehydration though. And being woken up by my eldest smacking me in the face with his monkey toy demanding we play the Peppa game in French...

fedupofrainydays · 27/11/2014 08:29

Do you live in the artic goats?

fedupofrainydays · 27/11/2014 08:29

*arctic

pebble82 · 27/11/2014 08:49

She finally gave up and went to sleep about 3am. DP can't help as he needs his sleep to work. I think her crying is because she's overtired. It used to be pain crying but since using Infacol, doing baby massage and holding upright after feeds the colic symptoms have gone.

I have now had a 3 hour stretch of sleep followed by 2 hours (as expected she fed and went back down no issues) so feeling a bit more sane now.

mrsb87 · 27/11/2014 08:53

My insanity is starting about now. Popped him in the carrier and he was still crying. Teeth brushing is hard work with a baby crying attached to your front! Seeing the lactation consultant at 10 about his tongue tie. Fingers crossed we get somewhere!

pebble82 · 27/11/2014 09:07

Those of you who put your babies down for the night early what do you do when they're in another room? Baby monitor? I'm worried about SIDS as they're supposed to sleep next to you. Don't really want to be confined to our bedroom all evening though.

ohthegoats · 27/11/2014 09:19

Not the Arctic, but a house with two working radiators (lounge and bathroom), no insulation and doors open most of the day for builders. Me and pip moving to mum's after Christmas until at least the heating is finished and a kitchen is in. Should make life easier.

ExcitedCJ · 27/11/2014 11:11

STIGZ I think there is something in your theory of being busy. The baby that didn't sleep yesterday has been asleep for 2 hours! I did the school run, grocery shopping, quick trip to Boots & a big Chai Latte from Starbucks & got myself settled with This Morning & he has only just woken up! Smile
I second the Merino sleeping bags, they are fab, if you know what temp your room is then you dress baby accordingly & put on top of duvet. I love co-sleeping but you need to be very careful about the duvet.
Binky I had serious problems co-sleeping with my DD but I cracked it with DS. Sleeping bag on top of Duvet with babies shoulder level just above the top of your duvet level. Remove all pillows from your bed apart from the one you use. Line your boob up with babies mouth hey presto!

sazzlehopes · 27/11/2014 15:13

pebble glad you're feeling slightly better with some sleep. We had a few days of that recently, he went from pretty normal baby to crazy screaming periods and fussing for 2 hours after a feed before he'd eventually give up and sleep. 12-2am Id be up trying everything and the other night it broke me and I had a good cry too.
Saying that though I was so worried it would continue again last night as he cried loads all evening until he eventually went to bed at half 9. I went the same time as I was broken and he gave me FIVE GLORIOUS HOURS sleep! Then another three without the mental fussing afterwards. Straight back into the cot. I felt amazing this morning! So hopefully pebble it'll pass soon for you!

Captain we did have the trouble of N only napping on me, car seat, sling or buggy but today he's been happy to nap in his bedside cot. Been brilliant as I've actually managed to do things round the house. I think eventually they are happy to be put down. It has helped hugely putting him to sleep on his front though....
N is almost 8 weeks

fedupofrainydays · 27/11/2014 15:21

Anyone else lacking in energy? I really want to get back to exercising a lot but am just too tired. Mil is round now but instead of going on the bike I'm having a lie down. Shall I just get off my fat arse or am I allowed to go easy on myself still???

ExcitedCJ · 27/11/2014 15:47

Fedup go easy! I am sitting on the sofa eating chocolate chip cookies x 3 so far!....

fedupofrainydays · 27/11/2014 16:01

I'm clearing going to go and scoff mince pies now!!

Just stuck at 10lbs to loose for last few weeks to get back to pre birth weight. I know the only way I can do it is by exercise but can't muster the energy today...

tattyblue · 27/11/2014 16:04

fed up I'm struggling with this too. Today I decided to have a nap rather than go for my usual long walk and I feel so guilty. Because I didn't feel guilty about enough already.

BettyJudy · 27/11/2014 16:18

Sad day for me today. Had weigh in and Little Dd squish has dropped a percentile bracket - almost 2. Had a little cry in the car on the way back.

health visitor spectacularly unhelpful - "try and give her as much as possible with each feed snd burmp inbetween, theres your plan" - erm, what do you think i'm doing already, watching her have a dribble then sitting back to have a cup of tea!?

Was mixing breast and formula mostly, but now breast milk almost gone so full formula at 7 weeks.

She has no set eating or sleeping times, and also getting stressed about that. One godsend is she's pretty good at night and wakes only once or twice. Wonder if i should be waking her more often though after todays weigh in Sad

MundayCakes85 · 27/11/2014 16:39

Fedup I've still got 2 stone to lose so you're doing way better than me!! It's slowly coming off but I put so much on due to quitting smoking and water retention. Remember it takes 9 months to go on- 9 months to come off.
Betty sorry to hear your little squish is having problems, don't beat yourself up. My DD wakes once or twice too and eats whenever she's showing hunger signs and when she cries non-stop too Sending chunky thigh thoughts your daughters way Cake

OP posts:
BettyJudy · 27/11/2014 16:42

Aww thanks munday. Smiling about thought of chunky thighs Smile

ExcitedCJ · 27/11/2014 17:03

Aaahh Munday what a lovely thing to wish someones baby - wee chubby thighs! I can't wait to blow raspberries on my bubs chunky thighs. Betty sorry for the worries, sounds like you have a very chilled out little miss, I am sure she will get there. I used to feed my DD every 3 hours on the dot during the day with the max amount of formula recommended for her age. 7am - 7pm & then 1 feed in the night until 10 weeks when she started to sleep through. I would wake her if she was sleeping. HTH

BettyJudy · 27/11/2014 17:11

Thanks excited hopefully she will sort herself out. During the day she goes anything from 2 hours to 4 hours between feeds. Maybe I should try to get it all to around to 3 hours, to ensure all the feeds get done in a day, and also the consistency/ predictability would be nice.

I keep deciding on a plan for the day (for feeding and routines etc) then totally changing my mind the next.

Keep half-arsed attempting to do gina ford, but V hard to implement with daddy and grandarents each doing their own thing with her Smile
