*bye not buy anymore Blush

Elizadoesdolittle · 13/10/2014 22:06

I don't like to miss out pass.

I had pork for dinner tonight. Marinated in olive oil, garlic, herbs and lime juice. Was rather yum.

StuntNun · 13/10/2014 22:30

Isles the Mumsnet low carb bootcamp worked really well for me. I lost 2.5 stone and kept it off. More importantly it gave me more energy so that I could get more exercise. I'm currently finishing off a workout in my garage at 10:30 p.m. where before I would have been slouched in front of the telly with junk food. Plus I just deadlifted 39 kg which is two thirds of my bodyweight! Low carb may not be for everyone but it could be worth a try if you've already started by cutting out sugar. The MN Bootcamp has ten rules that you follow but there's no calorie counting or portion control which means you never have to feel hungry like some diets make you feel.

Thanks stunt I'll have a read tomorrow. Just skimmed over a reintroduce alcohol bit. Think this is probably my biggest downfall not looking at you empty wine glass, oh no Blush

StuntNun · 13/10/2014 22:39

And don't listen to YW, it isn't actually supposed to be a caveman diet based on sound anthropological principles! It still works though.

Isles that sounds a really mature attitude. M will thank you for it when she's bigger. Hopefully its a new start in you and XPs parenting relationship.

YellowWellies · 13/10/2014 23:27

Stunt actually low carb really worked for me in pregnancy - the diabetic diet I was on was essentially low carb (35g carb at brekkie, lunch and tea and 2 x 15g carb snacks, unlimited protein) and I lost nearly a stone between 28 and 35 weeks and still gave birth to a positively porky 35 weeker (6lb 14).

StuntNun · 14/10/2014 06:48

It's a great way of eating for diabetes isn't it YW, it's a shame it isn't widely recommended. I was speaking to a lady with type 2 diabetes and she had been told she had to eat carbs at every meal. The general advice seems to be to eat whatever you want and just take as much medicine as you need to keep your blood glucose in check. Whereas it's the glucose that does the damage so the less you eat the better off you will be. My FIL has type 2 diabetes and is currently injecting the maximum dose of insulin he can have. But he still likes to have two desserts on special occasions, instead of his one dessert every day. Confused

J had an accidental dairy exposure yesterday who the hell puts milk in salt and vinegar crisps? and hasn't had any issues for the last two nights. He didn't eat very much of the crisps but I'm taking it as a great sign that he might be getting over his intolerances. His next food challenge was supposed to be dairy-free cake but made with egg but now I'm wondering whether to try him on a malted milk biscuit for the dairy? He's only been dairy-free for seven months, is it too soon to try a challenge? The cake egg challenge will be for his birthday which is five weeks away so I could sneak in a dairy challenge next week or should I leave it for now?

BigPigLittlePig · 14/10/2014 07:41

I would leave it stunt, or decide which of egg or dairy you'd like to try. You are likely to get a , uddled picture if you try both In a relatively close time frame. Fwiw I would go with egg, as milk and soya are easier to avoid and replace.

Am up on my lonesome, great that F is sleeping in but boo to not seeing her before I go to work Sad

StuntNun · 14/10/2014 08:12

Thanks BigPig, I suspected it would be better to stick with one or t'other. He was okay with cake last challenge but hardboiled egg did for him so I'm pretty sure the birthday cake will be fine. If so then that will make life a bit easier as his diet is so restricted at the moment.

Mission accomplished. Fruit salads made and eaten by lots of happy children. I am not sure I will be invited back though - I did an absolutely fine job but DD1 was hysterical to see me leave. When she realised I was staying she said "Are you going to be my friend today mummy?" and scaremed like a banshee when I left.

So much in fact that when I got outside and realised the gate onto the street was locked instead of going back in to ask them to open it I decided to vault over the wall. Well. Vault. More like heave myself, wobble at bit at the top and then try and be as graceful as I could (not very) getting down the other side.

The whole thing wasn't too bad actually and it was really interesting to watch the teacher handle the class and see how the kids interact.

isles7 · 14/10/2014 11:47

HAHAHA at wall vault PR

Poor DD Sad

PetiteRaleuse · 14/10/2014 12:13

Oh she will get over it. School is closed tomorrow so she will have a cuddel day. I think this first half term has been so tiring for her and she is really ready for the two week break starting this weekend.

I can't believe that in a year's time LO will be going through all this too. She seems so young!

Lily311 · 14/10/2014 13:57

isles I think I'm a bit confused why you decided to go on holiday with him. I thought you did not want to? Please don't get cross with me for saying this but I honestly believe that you should not do things together and you should distance yourself from him. He does not make you feel good.

As for your weight, I understand what you are saying. But be gentle with yourself and make sure that you cut out junk and exercise. It works for me, slowly slowly I'm getting back into my pre pregnancy fitness level (not shape) and I'm happy with that.

Pr, well done. You are my new hero

PetiteRaleuse · 14/10/2014 14:35

Blush I find half marathons etc far more heroic lily and I don't do any of them.

fruitpastilles · 14/10/2014 15:25

Massive congratulations stunt sorry I'm a bit late with it Blush

Lily311 · 14/10/2014 18:03

I might have just signed up for another half marathon in November. With a 12k run the week before. I'm an idiot, I don't like running!

isles7 · 14/10/2014 19:38

He decided on the Sunday night he was coming and that was it. I didn't want a fight so just went with it and it all turned out okay in the end. I barely do anything with him now. When he has M here, I go out. etc. I appreciate your thoughts though.

My best friend is having a girl! I know she's been desperate for a daughter for forever so I'm delighted for her and thrilled I've found someone to pass all M's baby stuff onto Wink

Elizadoesdolittle · 14/10/2014 20:11

lily it seems you have caught the running bug.

Picked up my new car today. Not driven it far but so far so good. I put one seat up in the boot stunt and thought of you.

Had DD1S first parent evening today. Got a very warm mummy glow feeling hearing lots of lovely things about DD1. She's no angel but is keen to learn, helpful, confident and the teachers are very fond of her so I'll take that Smile

Passmethecrisps · 14/10/2014 20:31

Wonderful eliza! If I can let you in to a trade secret, very few teacher want angels. Angels are beatific and quiet and unquestioning - where is the fun in that? She sounds brilliant.

Wonderful news about your friend isles! Great to have a place to share things. I have an attic and shed and two car boots full of things. Some will be staying just in case and some will be shared. I thought I might pick out a few suitably Scandinavian moomin type things for yw! Grin

First day of holidays just us girls today. We did some chilling and some crafting (wanda, I am not, is for sure) and some tidying. I was trying to access the attic which is never easy anyway as since I hit 30 I have developed vertigo. P decided that she was "comin!" And at one point I found her almost all the way to the bloody hatch! I eventually persuaded her that staying on the floor wielding the attic door unlocker thing was very helpful so she stood there waving it at my arse shouting "I catch you, mummy!"

Also, she seems to have opted for referring to me as "p mummy" rather than just mummy. Normal?

PetiteRaleuse · 14/10/2014 20:40

Ooh I keep meaning to mention the craft board at school: handpainting to make hedgehogs. V cute. I'd do it at home but we Don't Do Painting at home :o

Good to hear DD1 is obviously settling in well eliza

Enjoy your holiday pass

PetiteRaleuse · 14/10/2014 20:50

I am pretty ill tonight. My cold has got pretty bad and chesty. I can't go to the Dr tomorrow but I will go on Thursday as it has been dragging on for ages now and I have almost lost my voice. One syllable in two comes out all sexy husky in my head and the others either squeak or don't come out at all.

MsJupiter · 14/10/2014 21:50

Pass L has started to differentiate between other people's Mummies and his own. Maybe it's that? We've also been talking to him about how Gran is my Mummy etc. which he sort of gets, although aunts and uncles are more complicated!

Elizadoesdolittle · 14/10/2014 21:59

Thank you pass. She more or less said that. She said she is no wallflower but nobody wants a meak child that sits in the corner and offers nothing. Re p and mummy, totally normal. I remember going through it with DD1 and now E points and me and says "my mummy" and at my friends and says "so and so's mummy".

pr hope you feel better soon and kyz. It's so awful feeling ill when you have children to run around after!
