I would mention it and potentially get it checked seven. However, given you're so (relatively) soon after birth, it could be something less serious that will sort out over the next few months, and fingers crossed that's the case. But, if it's not, the sooner it gets checked the sooner it can be sorted out. Don't know if you find this, but sometimes opening up/talking about embarrassing things is easier with relative strangers than with people you're close to, and as a MW you can be sure she's seen and heard everything.
((Hugs)) it must be getting you down a bit Sad

I think this definitely calls for aethel.....

Also I know it feels horribly embarrassing seven and it isn't like anyone wd want to talk about it BUT it is midwife's job and she won't be embarrassed at all but probably hugely helpful and sympathetic. I wd def tell her tomorrow.

TheOnlySeven · 15/09/2014 20:20

Thanks, I was going to PM aethel but saw she's with Oi so posted here instead, I knew the rest of you would at least be sympathetic even if unable to offer advice. I need to talk to DH about this don't I? :(

So glad you're in mopsy!

TheOnlySeven · 15/09/2014 20:21

Appointment is weds not tomorrow, baby brain!

Faffin · 15/09/2014 20:34

seven I had a similar issue after DS was born (8lb 6oz and shot out like a bullet from a gun!). It was hugely embarrassing but I went to GP and was referred on to hospital. Had a couple of appointments and some exercises to do and fortunately all ok. It's one of the many reasons I won't be having any more though, I think I'd end up incontinent if I did Shock. Definitely speak to MW about it, as others have said she'll have seen it all before. If you're embarrassed to talk to DH then maybe wait and see what she says? If it's not anything major then you may not need to tell him if you don't want to. Hope all goes well

TheOnlySeven · 15/09/2014 21:28

Thanks faffin, will mention it to MW then.

OiMissus · 15/09/2014 21:53

Oh no seven! Poor you! I feel your humiliation! Talk to a medical professional, your mw. No need to involve DH until you need to!
Aethel was lovely. Really lovely . How nice to finally meet the person behind the name.
Thanks to Aethel for entertaining me in London at such short notice. Smile

mopsytop · 15/09/2014 21:59

How lovely that you got to meet!

Seven let us know how you get in with midwife and come on here to talk if you need to. We are all here to listen and sympathise.

So pleased with house! So much to do to it but it will be fab in time. Proper big family house. Victorian terrace but four big bedrooms (including v big attic room which we eventually intend to make our room and add en suite up there), a cellar room conversion (marketed as bedroom but I wouldn't use it as such) plus scullery, shower room and proper cellar storage room in basement, plus big dining room and lounge with wooden floors and massive sash windows (arch between them... originally a wall but I prefer it open) and biggish offshot kitchen opening into dining room. plus very spacious hall. Perfect in fact. Decor very tired (magnolia painted over wallpaper in hall stairs landing... going to be nightmare to get off), awful kitchen units and bathroom etc. but liveable as it is and can all be done in time. Very pleased!

Faffin · 15/09/2014 22:35

Ooh mopsy it sounds fab! So glad it all worked out in the end, definitely sounds like it was worth it

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 15/09/2014 22:47

Talk to the midwife, it's what she is there for. X

Aethelfleda · 15/09/2014 23:01

PM coming your way seven but def chat to the midwife and see if she can get you some physio support. She will be lovely about it (if she has any sense. If not thwack her with a boob or something.)

Stop it oi, you shall make me blush!.... I got an evening out, thread, and it was fun! (There are no calories in shared deep-fried chillis, right?)

How's DS Northern, have all bodily fluids remained in the correct locations tonight?

Aethelfleda · 15/09/2014 23:03

Ooh and congrats mopsy, I am so jealous! (Looks around modern lounge and imagines Victorian grandeur). Very cool for you and so glad you are "in"!

OiMissus · 15/09/2014 23:10

Mopsy - your house sounds fabulous! I dreamt of converting our loft into a lovely bedroom with huge ensuite... Then I went up there and saw the mad criss crossy rafters. Hmm
Not that the Boi and I are short of space!

NorthernChinchilla · 16/09/2014 07:15

Sounds wonderful mopsy, ours is a slightly smaller Edwardian version, but modernised which is great in practical terms but I hanker for the original bits you've got! Does sound glorious.... what's the garden like?
All bodily fluids in place thanks aethel, so off to nursery. I have an all-day Audit Committee meeting so it's over to DP if DS explodes again!

mopsytop · 16/09/2014 07:58

Garden pretty small (that's the payoff) but perfectly adequate and we have an apple tree! and biggish outhouse.

Aethelfleda · 16/09/2014 20:01

Hoorah for cool houses (we compromised on garden size too mopsy but it's surprising what you can do as long as there's room for a cubbyhole/little wendy house/trampoline/swing and a few pots or a raised bed for veggies.)

We're about to throw £££ at our house to get the eaves painted.... And whem we went to look at them with the builder we found a frigging wasps nest. Getting someone to spray evil gunk of evil at it tomorrow...

NorthernChinchilla · 16/09/2014 20:02

Ditto mopsy, I'd like our garden to be about four times as big, but it's a lot better than we had before, and is at least manageable for two adults working ft. Funnily enough, the first thing I bought for my garden was a miniature apple tree Smile!

Hope it goes OK with the MW tomorrow seven.

OP posts:
NorthernChinchilla · 16/09/2014 20:04

X-post aethel, yes getting the eaves done is ridiculously expensive, but terminate those little feckers now!!

OP posts:
TheOnlySeven · 16/09/2014 21:32

Thanks northern

mopsy the house sounds amazing. Great that you have an apple tree already, do you know what variety it is? First thing a bought was also an apple tree (bramley), we've been here over 3 years and this is the first year it's actually produced apples.

Our garden is great, loads of room for veggies and chickens, plus still plenty on room for playing. we compromised on the state the house was in, still need to do the bathroom and utility room, plus decorate the hallway but at least it's habitable now and doesn't have fleas anymore

I told DH, he was great actually, let me cry then bought me ice cream. Now watching Billy Elliott whilst enjoying newborn snuggles and a glass of Pinot :)

OiMissus · 16/09/2014 23:26

Aw! 7. That's lovely. Smile

mopsytop · 17/09/2014 09:22

That's great seven! let us know what midwife says.

Figster · 17/09/2014 13:18

glad the new house is fab Mopsy and hope you get on ok with MW today seven!!

I also have a tmi question for you all my periods are driving me mad I was always a 28 day cycle girl on the dot for about the last 6 months i have dark spotting for at least 2 days before my period actually kicks in not heavy enough for a pad but there enough for no "activity" with DH then I have 5-6 days of proper bleed so in all a week of some type of activity. this month is the same Monday started spotting in fact did bleed a bit then just dark spotting when wipe (sorry tmi i know) I am not actually due until the 19th!!!! Should i go to a Dr? Is my body changing as I am approaching mid 30's? when we start ttc next year it is so over the place I wouldnt know where to start (not that i would be tracking it as didnt bother last time).

I am working from home tomorrow avoiding any reference to the referendum that is ripping apart my homeland :-( I wont be able to sleep tomorrow night with worry common sense must prevail musnt it??

Aethelfleda · 17/09/2014 17:08

Argh, my neighbour has paid someone to totally massacre his trees and laurel hedge to put a new fence! I'm all for maintaining property but there is less green than there should be! (And still no call from wasp exterminator man, sigh)...

Figgy, cycles can change like that: go to talk to your GP about it. They will be sympathetic and check if you need anything doing (sometimes a scan can reassure you it's all ok in there). Us laydeez get all the glamour, don't we!...

OiMissus · 17/09/2014 17:46

(Figgy - sorry you're feeling the stress, please try not to. There's nothing you can do. I do believe that common sense will prevail... However, it's going to be a huge mess. Riots? Demonstrations? Half the Scottish population will be extremely pissed off.
Politically and economically it's going to get messy too with all the sticking-plaster promises of more power that have been made. And everyone's going to want a piece of that :"English" mp's, welsh, Cornish, boltonian...
Argh! It's going to get ugly before it gets better.
Best not to worry about it too much!ConfusedConfusedConfusedConfused)

Sorry!
And if common sense does not prevail, we're all in the shit. The rest of the Uk won't have the power it has now (g8, NATO, g12, EU, financial markets...) so we all suffer.
It's a lose-lose situation.

Like I said, best not to think/worry about it too much!!!
Wink

TheOnlySeven · 17/09/2014 19:40

figgy I agree best not to worry too much about things beyond your control, I can't believe how close the polls think it's going to be though.

MW was kind but not overly reassuring. She basically just said I'm still very recently post-natal, mention it to GP at 6 week check but plenty of pelvic floor exercises in the meantime. She also said depending how bad it is I'll likely be referred to the consultant at the hospital and given my age they'd probably recommend surgery, now a bit scared tbh!

In other news DD3 is putting on 2oz a day, she's already up to 6lb 10oz from her 5lb 9oz birth weight 18 days ago!
