Relieved to hear it isn't scarlet fever mopsy.

Sounds like there's lots of illness around. Hope everyone is feeling better soon.

aethel what vegan cheese do you buy? There's barely anything available round here. I bought some violife once and it was actually really good, but I can't remember which supermarket I got it in and I haven't seen it since! I bought a different one last week, can't remember the name but it needed using in 48 hours and was vile!

Nothing has been done for DS new bedroom yet, we're still trying to find a builder. We were waiting for a quote from an of friend of DHs. After nearly 3 weeks he still couldn't give us a price or start date Hmm.

NorthernChinchilla · 02/04/2015 17:48

Oh blimey figgy, what an utterly shit month! And conjunctivitis is so, so not fun. I would seriously prescribe some booze tonight! Hope DS can start nursery next week too.

I've actually done that for a friend mopsy as their birthday present, so I can be hired Grin

Sounds like it's time to get some other quotes seven, though I know that easier said than done. You'd think that they'd recognise that this build should be a priority, given what it's for.

Actually worked from home today, just for the afternoon. Feel like it's an achievement, but boy ami knackered. And we're travelling tonight, urgh....

seven, the lump that's grateable/bakeable is violife, they also do a ready-sandwich-slice, it's 1.90 a packet in Tesco (i suspect only the big Tescos stock it, ours is huuge) I also bought a Tescos own one called but not tried that one yet.
Sainsburys hid any vegan cheese so well I couldn't find it Hmm

Hope things get better figgy!

Good luck with the travelling northern.

NorthernChinchilla · 03/04/2015 14:18

Speak not of the travelling aethel, speak not.....

Mum's got friends round and I'm not up to either discussing or ignoring the mc, so DP DS and I have come out for lunch, then done the truly traditional thing of having ice creams in the rain and fed the ducks.
They've headed off to the Pils and I am now in my home town local in the warm with a pint and a Discworld....bliss

mopsytop · 03/04/2015 19:37

Well, we got here without any vomiting incidents! Woohoo!

Poor Mopsyboy is SO bad with the excema. All over him. He really cries when I do the cream. Dunno if it hurts or if it is cold but he really hates it, poor bean HmmHmm

Aethelfleda · 04/04/2015 19:44

Argh, the DC have picked our "family film" for tonight. Tinkerbell and the chuffing Pirate Fairy. Nnnrrgh...

mopsytop · 04/04/2015 21:26

I think I'd have to feign illness and go to bed aethel ! Are you surviving?

Aethelfleda · 05/04/2015 08:28

It's ok mopsy, we got the DC to bed and them watched the Rik Mayall tribute as an antidote.

NorthernChinchilla · 05/04/2015 10:27

We watched Pride last night, was great!

Given I made my Mum sit through Care Bear and My Little Pony films, I'm just waiting to see what horrors I'll have to watch.... karma I suppose!

mopsytop · 05/04/2015 11:45

We didn't have a video player until I was at least twelve or perhaps even older so my parents never had to suffer through anything worse than Christmas time movies (chitty chitty bang bang, Mary Poppins etc.). Minimopsy is currently into the little mermaid, Cinderella etc. makes a break from Frozen I guess

Figster · 05/04/2015 17:40

Ds LOVES tinkerbell and pirate fairy awful!! He's also into incredibles and this week it's been penguins of Madagascar which is actually v bloody funny!! Even as a cartoon wolf benedict cumberbatch is awesome!!

We were at a wedding with ds until 11 last night he basically ran, danced and bounced round for hours, today he's knackered of course we went to church, an Easter egg trail round a local lake and then Xmas dinner round the In laws. Sat on our bums now ds asleep wish I was zzzzzz

Happy Easter weekend everyone

NorthernChinchilla · 06/04/2015 22:04

We tried the Incredibles but DS found it a bit scary bless him.

Good break but DS has come down with some grim diarrhoea thing, not well yesterday and then exploded in bed at 5am this morning.
I'll be taking tomorrow off as DP and I tag team it through the week, so am grateful I did the afternoon on Thursday.
We had literally just managed to get him using the loo for no.2s that day as well!!

Hope everyone else had a good time too.

Aethelfleda · 08/04/2015 23:59

Oh dear, northern!! Well, DS is now back on normal food after 9 days dairy-free, he survived trial by ice-cream :)

But now the DDs are pukey! Argh!....

mopsytop · 11/04/2015 08:38

Well we had a lovely week. Fab weather. Minimopsy had a great time playing with her cousins and going to the beach and staying with my parents. She loved it. Unfortunately I started a really bad earache Thursday and then on our way back from the boat (in middle of night as our original boat got cancelled grrr), started a D&V bug. Luckily Mr Mopsy had bought proper sick bags for Minimopsy, who is prone to car sickness, and the D part at least waited until we got home. Feeling pretty rotten. I got some very good ear drops which are keeping the pain at more or less bearable levels but still feeling bit sorry for myself. Fingers crossed v v v hard Minimopsy and Mopsyboy don't get it...

Hope you all had a nice Easter

PartTimeProcrastinator · 11/04/2015 19:27

Hope all poorly people are feeling better soon.

Lovely day here, bought both boys new bikes today as a surprise. Two very pleased boys have spent most of the day on them.

Just sitting down to Wine and takeaway with DP Smile

Figster · 11/04/2015 20:18

Ptp what bikes did you get have promised ds one need inspiration.

Dh wants an isla but they're £250 that might be excessive for a 1st

Faffin · 11/04/2015 20:49

figgy we have Isla bikes for our two. They really are brilliant, so light and easy for them to pedal along on. We can obviously pass on from DD to DS which is a bonus, but they do hold their value well for when you want to sell them on.

mopsy hope you feel much better soon and that the DC don't get it too. Hope the lurgy has now left the aethel household too.

We've had a lovely easter. Went to Wales for the first week. Rubbish weather but we still got out and about lots and had fun. Then have just been enjoying the weather in the garden at home over the last week.

PartTimeProcrastinator · 11/04/2015 21:04

DSS got a new BMX but he's 12 so slightly different, he likes to tricks and jumps! Quite limited with choice for DS as he is so short, most bikes start at 12 inch frame which is way too big for him and likely to be for a while, found one pedal bike at toys r us with 10 inch frame and went for that!

NorthernChinchilla · 12/04/2015 07:55

I was just going to ask you aethel how long you kept DS dairy-free...given our DS has been absolutely fine in himself and has had a whale of a time all week, but been explodey up til Fri/Sat I have gone dairy free over this weekend too.
I was hoping that we could go back asap, but perhaps not? He's now well enough iyswim to go back to preschool and is back in big boy pants....
How are your DDs doing? Must be so frustrating after a week with DS.

Glad everyone is having such a lovely Easter too Smile

How are you getting on mopsy?

Lots of jobs today, going into town, to the dump, etc. Will feed the ducks too. Then we're going to have to try to persuade DS to watch something on laptop so DP and I can watch the Derby.....not worked before but there's always a first time Grin

Aethelfleda · 12/04/2015 11:46

HIya, yes all better now, thanks... Except DD1 started itching her head AGAIN so we're going on a nit hunt later...argh... Need the blunderbuss I think, some kids are "tastier" than others apparently...

We kept DS1 dairy free for 9 days, then gave him a "trial" and as that was fine (no puking or abdo pain/bloating/ropy poo) went back to normal. The official mantra is 1-2 weeks completely off, then if they fail a trial dose stay off for a further 4 weeks, then trial again. Its cos sometimes it's just a sensitive tummy (in which a weeks sparing is enough), the more full on "classic" transient dairy intolerance needs 2-4 weeks for the gut border to regrow.
We did the full vegan-but-eat-meat routine (read labels as SO much stuff has hidden milk protein in it!) his biggest "miss" was wotsits/quavers as we gad to switch to non cheesy rice cakes and corn snacks... And Violife not-quite-cheese was great use.

JustSeven · 13/04/2015 14:43

DD2 is dairy free and loves Pom Bear

Aethelfleda · 14/04/2015 21:51

Wow, what a scorcher! We had our new bells-and-whistles paddling pool out today. It's a bit like a dinghy but seemed to hold up well. Squirters from the pound shop and ten minutes later the whole garden was soaked. Hoorah.

Figster · 15/04/2015 10:16

Weather is very strange here it's almost cold in the morning and then this lovely afternoon onwards. I think we will invest in a new paddling pool this year. I think a trip to Poundland this weekend for bubbles and water pistols is required. Dh is away Friday to Tuesday I expect the house will be less stressful ds and I have a lots of plans to catch up with people to eat out and generally mess around.

We are now having daily battles getting him to nursery he doesn't want to go he wants to go to his old preschool strangely he has never said he wants to go to the childminder but he is desperate to go back to his preschool which is just impossible until he starts a half day in September on a Friday which is my nonworking day and we can cover the nine till three term time only pattern. He does seem to really enjoy it once he's there every night we pick him up he surrounded by kids or surrounded by key workers entertaining them having fun I don't think you likes being a small boy and a big place he was very dominant at he childminders.

Am off to a conference at the millennium Stadium this afternoon

Figster · 15/04/2015 10:17

Oh and very frustrated I am now on day 31 AF missing in action last month my cycle was 25 days it's just all over the place at the moment how am I supposed to ttc under these conditions Angry
