Jan 2014 - can we call it a sleep regression if they didn't sleep in the first place?

The smalls stayed with my parents last night. Apparently Archie slept 7pm to 4.45am, quick feed and back down until 7am. Why can't he do that at home? Little tyke!

Gettingthroughthis · 11/06/2014 11:32

Love the dress felix will be interested to see any boys rompers you do

becca bloody typical isn't it, hopefully it's the start of more sleep

H slept better last night, down at 8.15 (after a struggle), up at 2 for feed, back to sleep at 5.30 when he was shouting so went in and unhooked his legs from cot bars and he was still asleep until 6 when he was shouting again so I changed nappy back in cot with toys until 6.30 :)

I can see 2 bottom teeth! Hopefully will be properly through soon.

enormouse · 11/06/2014 11:45

I have no idea what Cal weighs but he's longer than he is wide.

becca that's so annoying. But hopefully it's the start of good sleep to come.

I'm really struggling to get Cal to feed atm. Everything is more interesting. Even his own feet. But he is weaning well, ellas pouches currently but doing some BLW too (he sucked on a piece of carrot and some brocolli last night).

Swannykazoo · 11/06/2014 11:59

Shock! Little puggle did 8-10 on my lap, 10 30-12 30 then teeth and itchiness woke him up. I gave him his piriton and some calpol as he had his "sore" cry going on and he slept to 5!!! I know it doesn't really count as he'd had performance enhancing drugs but its a personal best since the 2nd set of jabs. I felt like Jessica Rabbit this morning
Hopefully the evil sleep regression fairy's powers are weakening
Felix - is the dress one you've made? Is it on your blog

Yay for more sleep. Hopefully the lo's are turning a corner.

I need some advice on two things please from those more experienced. I'm looking at high chairs at the mo and wondered if it's worth getting one that reclines or is that just a feature that costs more and doesn't get used?

Also, I'm trying to get things organised for our holiday. I've got two reusable swim nappies which is fine and figured O would mainly be in a swim suit most of the day, which is fine when in the water but what do you do when you put them in their pram to nap etc as the nappies let the wee through. Really don't know what to do. Don't think it will be practical to keep changing her?? Any advice would be welcome Smile

Anyone else enjoying the sun today? We had such a big thunder and hail (!!) storm yesterday it caused flash floods! At least it gave my new lawn a good water!

beccajoh · 11/06/2014 13:41

Put one of those pampers change mats under her.

beccajoh · 11/06/2014 13:48

Just seen about high hairs. I really can't see any need for a reclining one to be honest. Don't get one of the huge padded ones as they're a pain to clean and store. The IKEA Antilop is good, as is the Stokke Tripp Trapp. We've got this one www.johnlewis.com/east-coast-folding-wood-highchair/p231249109 and I like it because it's easy to clean, but when you flip the tray over the back it's open at the front so you can push them right up to the table. We mostly use it that way for DD, but it's useful having the tray too when we eat in the garden or whatever.

makeminea6x · 11/06/2014 13:55

Or if you don't have much space you can use a bumbo then a booster seat that straps to a normal dining chair? That's what we did for DC1. DS is still in the bumbo til his thighs burst it, not sure what I'll do then. He isn't a good enough sitter for a booster yet.

TobyLerone · 11/06/2014 15:52

The IKEA Antilop is fab.

TarkaTheOtter · 11/06/2014 22:24

I think the reclining feature might be useful for letting them sit up at the table with you pre-weaning if they like to be up and involved in what's going on. Can't see why you'd use it once they awe weaning age though.

I have the antilop which I used with dd but it does have a wide footprint and I tripped over the legs a lot. This time round I'm using a phil and teds "me too" which clips directly to the table (they use them in wagamamas if anyone has been). Takes up no space at all.

TobyLerone · 11/06/2014 22:24

OMG. Meredith has just had the most epic meltdown. Started at 7.30. Finished at 9.30. Full on screaming, non-stop, I couldn't do anything for her. Fed her, cuddled her, put her down, picked her up, put her down again, stroked her, shhhhed her, left her alone...nothing!

She didn't sleep properly at all today -- a couple of 15-min naps and that was it. So I don't know if she was just overtired and hot. I did give her some Calpol about 15 minutes before she eventually went to sleep, just in case something was hurting her.

Eventually she was so exhausted she was pausing in the screaming and her eyes were rolling and closing, then she'd scream again. I put her down in the cot and she basically snivelled herself to sleep :(

God, it was like the newborn days all over again.

FizzypopFireball · 11/06/2014 22:52

Didn't want to read & run (or sleep), toby but you have my utmost sympathy. At least when they're newborn you expect that, but when it comes out of the blue it's horrible! You feel powerless. Could it have been teething? Hope you get a peaceful night now.

FelixFelix · 11/06/2014 22:55

Toby that sounds horrendous! Sylvie is usually overtired when that's happened but it's never gone on for longer than an hour. WineWineWineWine all round!

TobyLerone · 12/06/2014 07:36

Thanks, fizzy & felix :)
I check for teeth whenever she whinges, and nothing! No idea what caused it but overtired/hot is still my guess.
I thought we were in for a bad night when she woke at 1am and 2am, but then she went back down til 7.

FelixFelix · 12/06/2014 10:28

Toby there must be something in the water (or milk?) as we only had one wake up last night. I really think we are getting over the sleep regression now! After waking up every hour or more for 4 weeks straight, it feels AMAZING.

TobyLerone · 12/06/2014 11:55

Excellent news, felix!

AMillionNameChangesLater · 12/06/2014 19:55

Henry has his last jabs two days ago and his sleeping has been off, which isn't fun! We're all just overhot at the moment

TobyLerone · 12/06/2014 21:33

Well, it wasn't a one-off :(

Angelesque · 12/06/2014 21:38

Toby :(

Do you think M is protesting against the awfulness of the World Cup opening ceremony?

FelixFelix · 12/06/2014 21:50

Toby do you think it could be the heat? I really struggled getting Sylvie off to sleep tonight. I've stripped her down to a vest because she was boiling hot.

I went to my first ever baby group today (it only took me almost 6 months Blush) and it wasn't bad at all. I had a vision of everyone being all cliquey and me sitting in the corner on my own being ignored, but everyone was really friendly! Will be going back next week. Wish I'd gone weeks ago really!

TobyLerone · 12/06/2014 21:55

:o angel. I didn't see any of it, but twitter kept me well informed.

I bloody hope it's the heat, felix. She's still screaming. I'm sitting right next to her but she screams more if I'm holding her. I'm doing accidental CIO :(

Glad you enjoyed the baby group and managed to find a nice one :)

Angelesque · 12/06/2014 22:54

Toby it was SHOCKING. No wonder J-Lo tried to drop out...

I do believe it's the heat... F has fed even more frequently than usual, mooooo, about every hour/90 mins or so - but it's just been the last couple if days. Poor love has been uber sweaty when I've taken him out if his car seat too.

AnotherStitchInTime · 12/06/2014 23:27

M has been more unsettled the last two nights, feeding more often due to thirst at night and in the day, plus he is teething too. It is very hot, 26 in the kids bedroom.

FizzypopFireball · 13/06/2014 00:37

Henry is wriggling around in his cot and not sleeping, either. He can't seem to get comfy.

He's also started to speak in Klingon. There is something quite terrifying when your baby frowns and stares at you intently during a 2am nappy change, and starts this strange guttural growl. I got quite freaked out and threw his nappy on any old way, so I could put him back to bed. He's continued it all day. I just hope he learns a new noise soon!

TobyLerone · 13/06/2014 06:25

Klingon :o
