Jan 2014 - can we call it a sleep regression if they didn't sleep in the first place?

We had a lovely day too. Went to Leeds Castle and had a picnic. The sodding peacocks almost made me have several heart attacks, though, leaping out of trees and shit.

Been at DP's parents for the weekend. Slept in a separate room on Friday night so DP could get up through the night with Sylvie and I had 6 straight hours of sleep. It was bliss. She slept in the travel cot this weekend and because she's got more space than the bednest she kept rolling over on to her front and it freaked me out. I had to keep checking she was still breathing! We have ordered her nursery furniture this weekend finally, so her cot should arrive soon and I can use the sensor pad thing from my Angelcare monitor so that will keep my mind at rest. Going to have the cot in our bedroom until she stops waking up every hour.

Glad to hear others have babies who sleep for a few hours. It gives the rest of us hope Grin

Sounds like everyone had lovely days yesterday. Nice day here to. Smile

Felix I asked my hv about O sleeping on side and front and I think the advice is if they can roll back to front and front to back then it is ok for them to find their own sleeping position.

I think we may need to move O into her cot. I think the crib is too small now and she is waking herself up by hitting the sides. Think I will try her in the travel cot first to see how she is in that.

Pretty decent night hurray! Bed at 6.30, then woke at 11pm and 3am for milk, then up for the day at 7pm.

Marching band? That would pee me off. Why are they marching past at kiddie bedtime?!

I have absolutely no idea becca. I'm English and have no idea what the Orange order stand for. I know that they march a lot in the summer and have a big celebration on the anniversary of the battle of the boyne and that's about it.

Yaaay for decent nights though. Maybe the little bastards angels are finally starting to turn a corner.

I'd never even heard of the peace line until about a year ago. I've no idea how I got to my mid 30s not know that.

If they were to march earlier, it'd be quite a fun thing for kiddies to watch! Assuming it was all civilised of course. No argy-bargying about walking down a road they're not meant to or something.

Nature she's only rolled front to back once and can't seem to worn out how to do it again so that's why I'm worried Sad when she wakes up on her front she goes crazy and starts crying hysterically!!

They march twice in a day becca (I.e. once on the way to the main lodge and then back again later in the day).

I would be ok with it but their views are slightly questionable - the majority think most catholics support Sinn Fein/the IRA and that they have the right to march in strongly anti unionist/Catholic areas without permission. The grand lodge thinks it shouldn't answer to the parades commission.

They're very much allied with the major unionist parties here so it's highly political. (That's my limited understanding of it anyway).

Henry cant roll back to front yet, but he sleeps on his belly. So whenever he rolls over he can't sleep, which is rubbish

This weaning thing is weird - little puggle steals my apples, and went mad for corn on the cob from the barbecue at the weekend(great pictures with a wee face covered in bits of corn & holding the cob under his arm) but has been refusing apple puree/carrot puree /cooked carrot batons/mango wedges - basically anything suitable for him. Thought it was maybe just him enjoying gnawing as he's teething like mad. In fact, so teethy that I ordered a chinese for tonight as he can't be put down. Little blighter has just grabbed and eaten a prawn cracker........and would have had more...
That's probably his entire salt intake for his first year. No idea what to try next (was not trying any food for a few days thinking he maybe wasn't ready and I'd got the signals wrong)

Maybe just do baby led weaning and not purees?

Puggle I agree with million, it sounds like BLW is the solution for you! I'd love to give Sylvie chunks of proper food but I'm so paranoid about her choking or something (even though I know it's pretty unlikely).

If you're BLW, what sort of things do you actually give them? I can't imagine her sat gnawing on a chunk of apple Grin

I just did blw with dd2 as she refused to be fed, little miss independent. It was fine no choking, very soon they are able to eat a reduced salt version of your meal (be prepared for lots of mess everywhere Grin). I started with steamed root veg and fruit pieces, but she was soon at the corn cob too. This time I have started with purees as ds needs to be able to eat a good amount by the time I go back to work, with blw more goes on the floor/chair/hair/face than in their mouths at first. Once he can sit up it will be a mixture of self feeding and adults spoon feeding him I imagine.

puggle h is the same. I have found he loves the pouches but don't want to give him too much. I'm just going to keep trying him with things (this morning he had melon and only sucked a couple of bits)

I'm starting the Cambridge diet today. First meal (porridge) was awful so wish me luck!

Report
FelixFelix · 10/06/2014 10:05

Getting I did Cambridge a few years ago and lost 3 stones quite easily. The first time you do it is the golden time where it's the easiest! Once you cheat, it's so so hard to get back on the wagon. I only ever liked the pre-made chocolate shakes. The porridge was horrid Confused Slim & Save products are a million percent nicer and a lot cheaper too. You can order online Smile I'd never be able to do it again though as I don't have the willpower.

I think we may be turning a corner with the sleep regression. The past few nights she's woken up less frequently (about 3 times maybe?) and I feel like I've had loads more sleep. We ordered her nursery furniture yesterday! Yippee!

BLW - do really soft, chip shaped food so they can hold it easily. Sweet potato and butternut squash is good. Stuff like apple that breaks into little bits can wait for a while. Basically anything that you can easily squash between your thumb and finger is a good starting food for BLW.

FelixFelix · 10/06/2014 11:01

I'm roasted some butternut squash later this week so may give her a bit to try Grin

Swannykazoo · 10/06/2014 11:51

Phew -glad its not just me/my baby! Thanks getting and becca I'll try sweet potato after next supermarket visit. I've never been convinced butternut squash tastes of anything until its curried/roasted with garlic but I suppose as long as its not salty it doesn't matter...
If wonder weeks are correct and clinginess/grumpiness comes with a developmntal leap I think little puggle is currently working on a cure for cancer...or teething
