merk please ask as much as you want so we can pretend that we are all so experienced and knowledgeable, and not first time mothers who have no idea what we are doing most of the time

Alex we got one of these and it was an absolute godsend on holiday - definitely the best thing we took with us. It conforms to British Safety Standards for use as a travel cot (comes with a self-inflating mattress to go underneath for sleeping) but we mainly used it in the sun as the cot provided by the hotel was really good. Because E is currently obsessed with crawling and rolling and won't sit still for a second, this was really good as we could zip her into it using the insect nets so she couldn't come to any harm if we momentarily looked away. Taking this with us meant we could put her down and leave her to play for a while while we drank cocktails and lay in the sun. It comes in 2 sizes and we got the larger Delux one which is supposed to last until age 4, and unlike the second reviewer we haven't had any issues putting it back in the bag. We got it cheaper than this for about £65 from Amazon so it's probably worth shopping around online.

E is such a shit sleeper I really don't know where normal ends and regression begins. Confused Last night she woke 11pm, 2am, 4.30-6.00, 7.20 and then got up at 8.20. Yawn.

Merk it's awful watching them poorly isn't it? E got her first cold at around a similar age and it's frustrating not being able to give anything other than saline drops, but thankfully it was over and done with in a few days and i'm sure it will be the same for you.

Alexandra6 · 10/04/2014 17:22

cav really sorry but that link just goes to the homepage, have you got another link? Thanks!

Alexandra6 · 10/04/2014 17:44

I think I've found it on google and you've totally sold it to me, am really tempted as could use it as a travel cot in Spain too. I can't find anywhere online though that tells me the weight and how small it folds up, I don't suppose you know? We're going on easyjet - would I be able to easily fit it into a large suitcase (we're only checking in one bag) with space leftover do you think? Thanks!

BlearyeyedLol · 10/04/2014 20:30

Omg newsflash!!!
We have a tooth!!! 8.5 months and she has finally managed it!
That means she will now sleep through right??????

Cavort · 10/04/2014 20:42

Er yes Lol she will sleep like a dream from now on Grin .... I'm no expert as E only has 2 teeth so far, but in our case when the first tooth appeared the second one was hot on its heels 2 weeks later so there wasn't any sleep improvement until they were both through.

Alex I will find you another link when I can get on laptop rather than phone shortly. Today has been a disaster and I have been a complete moron all day so I'm not surprised I posted a dud link. I blame sleep depravity!

janey1234 · 10/04/2014 21:13

Sleep depravity?! What have you been up to cavort? Sounds fun! WinkGrin

I shouldn't tease. Sleep deprivation is a fucker tricky old thing. Hope tonight's better...

Cavort · 10/04/2014 21:43

Alex see if this link works?

Janey if it was sleep depravity due to 'that' I would be over the moon! The way E's sleep is currently I barely have the energy to hold a conversation with DH much to his dismay.

After me moaning about his total lack of effort on Mothers Day, today DH found himself with at least 40 minutes to kill before a meeting on Oxford Street. Tomorrow is my birthday. With this in mind, dare I get optimistic that I might actually get at least a card, or will he stay true to form and let the fact that it is his Wife's birthday and he is twiddling his thumbs on one of the world's great shopping streets pass him by? We will see! I feel bad moaning about him, even in gest, because he is a lovely guy (hence why I married him Grin), a great Husband and a fantastic Dad, but he is a typical Man busy and disorganised.

BlearyeyedLol · 10/04/2014 21:50

Oh cav shame you didn't come to London with him! The sun was shining and we could have met up for some vinos for the babies to play!
By the way have you found a way to come down in may when hazle is here??

MotherOfCleo · 10/04/2014 21:57

Everything crossed for you cav! An huge Happy Birthday for tomorrow Thanks Thanks Hope E gives you the beat present of all.....sleep! Wink

merk H had a cold around that age, it was awful but a saline nasal spray, raised crib and a nasal aspirator snot sucker were my savior! Not sure there is much else you can give them when they are so young, but definitely look into getting a calpol vapour plug in, it was a godsend when H had bronchiolitis and I really wish I'd got one sooner! Hope E feels better soon.

Yay lol great news re the tooth!

Cavort · 10/04/2014 22:01

Well quite frankly Lol if I had known it was actual London rather than the crap parts he usually goes to for meetings I would of definitely gone with him even if just to load up his Amex while he worked. I spoke to him about May and he said go for it, but then he casually dropped into conversation that he wants to go away for a long weekend snowboarding before the season ends so I think his enthusiasm about me meeting up with you lot is to ultimately feather his own nest.

Alexandra6 · 11/04/2014 07:47

Only 3.4kg? Great, then I'd have over 16kg for other stuff in the main suitcase! And you think it would be comfy enough for overnight sleeping cav? It's a bit pricier than I was thinking for the travel cot but I reckon I'd use that enough in the back garden to make it worth it.

And happy birthday!!!! I hope mr cav does well and E gave you some sleep last night Smile

My briiliant news is S only woke up twice during the night and otherwise slept 7pm-7am! Yayyyyy! One of those wake ups was for an hour, but still. Should I dare to think we might be past the regression or is she tricking me?! What is funny is the last few nights when she's woken up several times, I'll only feed her twice - at midnight and 4am, as I didn't want to get her used to more (she went with just two wake ups for weeks after all and she wouldn't go back to sleep if she was really hungry each time). Anyway she only woke up bang on midnight and 4am! Shock

HazleNutt · 11/04/2014 08:43

Happy Birthday cav ! Thanks
So, what did Dh get you?

I had an interesting night. First, could not fall asleep. It must still be the after-effects of overmedicating myself with the thyroid hormones, every now and then I get really annoying tremors in the whole body, usually at night time. Like trying to sleep on a washing machine on spin cycle. So keep looking at my alarm clock, it is showing 1, 2, 2.30 - I'm still wide awake.
Then, when I'm about to fall asleep finally, the baby monitor alarm goes off. V is of course fine, just false alarm as he managed to shuffle to the furthest corner of the bed.
At 3, he's awake and wants a feed.
At 4, one of the dogs starts whining to go out, stomach problems as has already puked on the floor.
Sigh. And I have several meetings today.

Oh hazle you really are superwoman!!! I don't know how you do it sometimes!!
Happy birthday cavGrinGrin
Over here L was in bed with us until 3 purely because I fell asleep and could not be bothered to get out of bed to take her. Then one wake and up at 7:30. So not a bad night after all.

Alexandra6 · 11/04/2014 09:18

Sounds like a crap night hazle Brew Thanks Wine - the last one for later! Thank god it's Friday for your sake.

PickledLilly · 11/04/2014 09:36

Happy birthday Cav! Hope you have a lovely day

Cavort · 11/04/2014 10:48

Thank you for the birthday wishes folks, although at 36 I feel it's time to start commiserating rather than celebrating yet another year.

DH must have listened for once and stepped up his game. He got up with E in the night and this morning so I had a lovely lie-in, then I got up to find a big bunch of flowers from him (my 2 pairs of new sunglasses were my birthday present), a card and perfume from E and an essential oil diffuser from the dog as an apology for being so stinky. Grin He has also unexpectedly taken the day off work so we're going to take the stinky dog on a nice long walk in the sun this afternoon and then we're going for Dinner with the family later, so all in all i'm quite pleased. And I bought myself a gift of a litre of Baileys from Asda for £12 so I will demolish that later. Grin

Alex I have measured the carry bag for the cot/tent and it's approx. 40cm diameter x 8cm deep, though it will squash a bit flatter in a suitcase. Comfort-wise i think it's fine for overnight sleeping, but we had a small issue with the rustle of the tent material waking E up when she was nodding off but it was generally fine.

Ouch Hazle that sounds like a rough night. Sad FX for some decent weekend sleep!

MotherOfCleo · 11/04/2014 12:42

Happy birthday cav, glad your OH finally stepped up and bought you gifts! Think my favourite is the present from the dog though Wink very amusing.

alex assume nothing, theae babies are unpredictable Grin Wink

hazel hope its the turning point.

H woke at 3.30 again, I managed to get to him while he was asleep and whinging he was maybe 30 seconds from waking up and gave him a dreamfeed, he took less than an oz and went back to sleep till 8am. I'm tempted to offer him water during the night as he is only taking an oz or 2 (2oz is the most he has taken overnight in the last 2 weeks) it seems like it is more habit than hunger. I am such a mean mum! Blush

MotherOfCleo · 11/04/2014 12:44

Realise that sounded shit hazel Sad just mean surely it cant get any worse so fingers crossed it gets better now!

HazleNutt · 11/04/2014 13:19

and of course all this has to happen just when I'm going out with a bunch of friends in the evening.

yay cav so you're coming to London in May!

PickledLilly · 11/04/2014 21:08

Tooth number 5 has made it's wonky appearance and 6 isn't far behind. Anyone else's baby get fangs first before front teeth at the top? I've had a few comments about it so not sure if it actually is unusual or if it's people making stupid comments again.

MotherOfCleo · 12/04/2014 01:11

lilly H's first tooth was the one left of the middle which isn't the norm, sure I'll get comments too! Hmm

MotherOfCleo · 12/04/2014 02:08

Just got back from my first drunken night out since having H. Had an awesome time with 2 friends I met at postnatal, lots of cocktails and jaggerbombs, nice to feel like the old me again, not the sensible mum me. if that makes any sense? Plus the OH has the monitor and is doing night duty, most likely a 3.30 resettle. Ahhh hello deep sleep Grin Grin

Plus amazing news re boom! Can't wait to hear about her baby girls. Grin

Alexandra6 · 12/04/2014 07:35

I'm Envy of your night out and deep sleep mother! Hope you enjoyed both Smile

I'm feeling rough as S was up for about 3 hours in the middle of the night (is that what a cav special is?!) She was crying, puking, chatting...anything but sleeping! Made extra hard as I'd had a couple of glasses of wine and only an hours sleep when it happened! Not sure if it was the evil regression witch or wind. I'm seeing friends today and tomorrow for lunch so I'm going to try and not moan the whole time about being shattered! (and sorry for always moaning here!) Grin

Alexandra6 · 12/04/2014 08:04

Turns out sleep depravity is no fun Grin
