cav my hvs seem to actively encourage using a dummy as they say it helps reduce sids? H won't take one anymore which is really annoying! I wonder if he wants one the same shape as his bottle, I cant seem to find any that round shape though Hmm they all seem to be flat on one side.

MotherOfCleo · 31/03/2014 12:16

ohhh yeah maybe hazel, my advent orthapedic ones are flat on one side, think I need to go to boots and have a good look at them all. Need some cream for H's dry skin too, any suggestions for what is good?

HazleNutt · 31/03/2014 12:34

I use this one on V www.avene.co.uk/Trixera-Selectiose

Quick question..which co sleeper cribs are you all using and how do you manage the join/gap between your mattress and theirs? (Know I asked this months back but on my phone and won't be able to find it!)

Quodlibet · 31/03/2014 19:50

Merk I've got a Babybay. Dunno what you are meant to do but we rolled up a cellular blanket and stuffed it in the gap.

I think maybe the exception to the waking a sleeping baby rule is with jaundice - W had it and we were also told never to let her go more than 3/4 hrs, and there was a bit of a vicious cycle of her being too sleepy to feed if you don't get fluids into them regularly. But maybe I over-fretted.

No proper rolling over here yet - and sadly no giggles since that one day where she laughed all afternoon. DP still hasn't heard her Sad

janey1234 · 31/03/2014 20:05

Good point about jaundice quod. M was borderline for treatment (we only avoided if through begging and pleading, and they pitied us as he had been in NICU already so long, think I spell in SCBU would have broken us!) and they said it was essential that we fed fed fed and didn't let him go more than four hours, ever....

HazleNutt · 31/03/2014 20:34

merk we had this one, they deliver to UK: www.amazon.de/FabiMax-Beistellbett-Babymax-Matratze-PROTECT/dp/B009WQFPJ4/ref=sr_1_20?ie=UTF8&qid=1396294366&sr=8-20&keywords=babybay

No gap, it attaches to your bed frame. It's bigger than baby bay, so you get more use out of it.

Thunderpantsarego · 31/03/2014 21:56

Hi all

Oh ok so the jaundice here was the main reason for the regular feeds. Had day 5 check today- all good, good weight, slept through heel prick and had tongue tie cut. It was the mw who delivered her and it was lovely to get out of the house, go back to the unit and get hugs from the lovely folk there. And now we can let sleeping babies lie :)

merk we have a bed nest which has a side that flaps down onto the bed like a drawbridge. It's just moving her into it which is the next challenge!

Alexandra6 · 01/04/2014 07:01

We have a babybay bed but the gap hasn't been a problem as S is in a sleepyhead pillow from John Lewis - quite pricey at £100 (we were loaned one by a friend and got a new mattress for it) but she has loved her sleepyhead pillow. She's getting too big for it now damn it but we still squash her in snugly!!

quod try lying W on her back on her changing mat and make noises and giggle really loudly whilst kissing her and blowing raspberries around her belly and legs. That gets S chuckling! She also did a real belly laugh the other day when she did a huge poo and saw her nana's face while she was trying to change her Grin so cheeky.

It's def harder to get S back to sleep after night feeds now and she's waking so early for the day. Oh well just need to ride it out I think, and resist the sleep threads on here which always seem to just depress me!

Hi guys. I thought I should get my head around the impending birth of baby next week and get used to the grown up talk in here. I'm going to be a mum!!! Shock Shock

MotherOfCleo · 01/04/2014 08:00

Hi tally yep you'll be a mum before you know it, so so exciting Grin Grin Grin

alex our 4 month sleep regression hit 2 weeks before H was ill and I'm not going to lie it was bloody awful as it seemed to last forever, especially as he was then so ill for so long. We were up anything from every 40 mins to every 2 hours and many days started at 5.30/6, but we have come out the other side and he is now sleeping better than ever, we are on the second night of 9pm-7am and hes gone back down again.

No co-sleeper here, we had a little swinging crib from mothercare, worked well for us as I could reach over and rock it when he stirred. Might look into a cosleeper with the next one though.

In other news my OH has started snoring really badly, I might have to kill the f#cker as H is sleeping like an angel but I'm still up 3 or 4 times a night telling him to shut up Angry Angry

Alexandra6 · 01/04/2014 08:42

Thanks mother it's good to hear it doesn't last forever, I'll remember that even if S's sleep gets worse. It's almost like she has wind though but the winding wakes her up and then she's awake so won't settle! How many weeks did your regression hit?

How annoying about the snoring!! When my DH had been out drinking the other night, he just kept tossing and turning restlessly in his sleep, and that was annoying, I had to kick him out ask him to sleep in the spare room!

MotherOfCleo · 01/04/2014 09:51

Not too sure when it hit alex around 16/17 weeks I think and H has just come out of it at 20 weeks(ish) we had illness and teething in the middle though so hard to tell which made his sleep the worst.

Alexandra6 · 01/04/2014 11:05

I don't suppose anyone knows the cheapest place to get baby passport photos from? Want to sort Sophia's out. Can't believe airlines charge so much for babies - Sophia is paying more than me to fly on Ryanair (£60) so my lap is more expensive than their seats! And she doesn't even get luggage allowance!

HazleNutt · 01/04/2014 11:29

Daylight robbery, that Ryanair. Lufthansa charges a very nominal fee for V and he gets his own luggage allowance, in addition to buggy and car seat.

OP posts:
Cavort · 01/04/2014 12:00

Alex a local independent photography shop here only charged £5.99 for E's passport photo.

Ryanair are notorious for that kind of thing but unfortunately we all need to use them from time to time. Sad Emirates only charged £18 to have E on our laps and for that she gets 10kg hold baggage, additional hand baggage for baby stuff, pushchair for free and we had a bassinet next to our seats so our hands were free to raid the drinks trolley while she slept. Grin

Hazle are you taking the Sirona on holiday? It weighs a tonne!! Grin

Cavort · 01/04/2014 12:01

When I say here I obviously mean at home not the UAE. Grin

Alexandra6 · 01/04/2014 12:15

Was going to say smuggling S into the UAE for a pic didn't sound the most cost effective way Wink

I know bloody Ryanair have got a cheek - easyjet didn't charge quite as much for Spain but still a rip off. We're hoping to use BA for Mauritius in October, bet they don't rip you off as much for infants plus free booze

Look at me showing off about all my holidays! Grin

HazleNutt · 01/04/2014 12:46

cav noooo, way too heavy. And would need to buy V a separate seat, which doesn't make sense with such short flights. But in principle we could, if we wanted to.

OP posts:
Cavort · 01/04/2014 13:24

Yes Alex I haven't even finished this holiday yet and I am already jealous of yours!

Ah right Hazle, I gets ya. I had visions of you lugging the Sirona up the aisle of a plane. Grin Having said that, car seats have been an issue while we've been away. I booked a car to pick us up from the airport with a baby seat but finding a taxi with one is nigh on impossible so we've had to do a few short taxi rides with E on our laps which is far from ideal, especially as the driving standards here are particularly shit. It is law here that babies should travel in baby seats but nobody seems to give a monkeys. Hmm

HazleNutt · 01/04/2014 14:01

Yes, considering that in many countries even seatbelts are considered a useless novelty, I would guess car seats are even more so. Have already written to the travel agent in Russia a few times that we definitely need a car seat.

I have forgotten how lovely it is to travel visa-free, trying to fill out the forms for Russian visa here: So, what did your grandma die of? Please attach death certificate, original and stamped. Are you planning to have coffee while in Russia and if yes, please indicate what kind and how often? This question cannot be left blank!! I might be slightly exaggerating. slightly .

Sigh. Hope it's worth it. And it won't even be a relaxing holiday, I totally expect to be absolutely exhausted after that. Should have gone to Mauritius instead.

My stitches have just fallen out!

Tallyra · 01/04/2014 18:42

how does it feel Merk? well healed?

CatsCantFlyFast · 01/04/2014 19:03

Hmmm... the midwife on Sunday had commented that perhaps there was some pieces that were supposed to be joined and weren't and she was right :0 Not sure whether they stitched the inside and outside (muscle and skin) with one set of thread or two separate so not altogether sure which part of the stitches has come out. Don't want to look and don't want to ring anyone as I am a wimp so am drinking wine and ignoring the problem for tonight :0
