hazel I could hug you Grin Grin

Hug away Grin

The threads here on MN where husbands come home and refuse to lift a finger because 'they work' always make me stabby. Of course a SAHP can do more stuff around the house, just because they are there, but I see no reason why one partner should work 8 hours and then put their feet up, while the other one works around the clock.

I don't mind doing my fair share, I've always been a grafter but it would just be nice to have some back-up, even if he washed up when I cooked or emptied the bin now and again. He actually labelled his drawers as he didnt like me putting his laundry away in the wrong places, I told him I'd leave it for him to do but he said no it's better if I do it, I just wasnt doing it right. How he's not buried under the patio I don't know Wink

CatsCantFlyFast · 04/04/2014 17:16

Mother you have the patience of a saint

MotherOfCleo · 04/04/2014 18:29

No I'm just a mug merk

MotherOfCleo · 04/04/2014 18:53

Well H just ate a vegetable that he seemed to like Grin finally! He much prefers fruit! Butternut squash is the saviour.

PickledLilly · 04/04/2014 21:12

Mother, you have my sympathy, he sounds exactly like the arsehole I used to live with my OH. Aside from burying under the patio (which is my plan) I don't know what to advise as 9 weeks later, me, pickle and my dog are still living in my Mum's spare room.

MotherOfCleo · 04/04/2014 22:00

lilly hope you are ok! It's so frustrating isn't it.

PickledLilly · 04/04/2014 22:10

Ah we're ok Mother (although I'm only a few days from murdering my mother and burying her next to him!)

It's interesting seeing how they cope without you when they're used to you doing everything though, if you can call the total contents if the fridge being beer, butter and mouldy asparagus coping Grin I think our £40 an hour relationship counsellor is starting to despair of us.

PickledLilly · 04/04/2014 22:12

You might want to tell your fella what I said to mine a while ago though "it's called maternity leave, you know for looking after the baby, it's not called run around after the lazy twat you live with leave"

HTH Grin

MotherOfCleo · 04/04/2014 22:36

I will use that lilly! Grin

Don't blame you, there are many times since having H that I could have killed my dad. I love my folks dearly but there is no way I could live with them again so you have my full respect. Wink

PickledLilly · 05/04/2014 10:29

So too much sugar and salt is bad for babies right? So we but expensive baby stuff that we assume has less of this in it.
Oat so simple porridge per 100g: carbs of which sugars 1.0g, salt trace
Heinz creamy oat baby porridge: carbs of which sugars 23.5g, salt 0.38g

Interesting no?

MotherOfCleo · 05/04/2014 17:54

oh my god that is awful Sad

Alexandra6 · 05/04/2014 19:10

Ridiculous, am going to try and keep S's diet as basic and 'clean' as poss. Speaking of food, I want to pack some of those Ella pouches for S when we go to France. She'll be 6 months/25 weeks. Does anyone know if she should be on stage 1 or 2 by then? Stage 2 says 7 months plus, but stage 1 seems to be just fruits and smaller packs.

HazleNutt · 05/04/2014 19:24

depends on when you start weaning I would say - I think the 7 months plus guideline is for babies who only start with solids at 6 months. If you start earlier, they should be fine by then.

There are organic pouches similar to Ella's available over here as well, like those: www.goodgout.fr

Thanks - I think bearing in mind S was two weeks overdue, she might be ready for stage 2 by then. I was planning to start weaning at 5 months but just realised that's really soon! I got quite emotional buying her plate, spoon and sippy cup, my little girl's growing up (blub) Bet I cry when she goes into her own room. I need to get a grip Grin

MotherOfCleo · 05/04/2014 19:32

alex I would say stage 1, as they are on mainly fruit and veg plus baby rice/porridge until 6 months plus. H is 21 weeks ( I think Hmm ) and has a while until he has more than fruit and veg purees. Some of the hipp organic ones are 6 month plus and have cereal or some meat I think. I registered with hipp organic and cow and gate and both have sent me really helpful weaning guides and discount vouchers, I make 90% of his food myself but obviously buy his baby rice (organix) and his baby porridge (hipp organic). I plan to start giving him some of our food blended obviously once he is 6 months plus though.

Alexandra6 · 05/04/2014 20:09

Oh really? Maybe I'd better pack stage 1 to be on the safe side. The reason I'm being so organised is janey's mum is driving out there and offered to take a box of stuff for S. I know NOTHING about weaning though - including porridge/baby rice?! I bought a box of organix baby rice - is that and the Ella pouches all S would need? Should I have bought porridge too or can they do without that?

janey1234 · 05/04/2014 21:19

M doesn't have baby porridge. I think stage one is fine as we can make stuff out there too, packets are just useful for when out and about.

Lilly that can't be right?! 23g sugar in 100g of baby porridge?!! Confused

Cavort · 05/04/2014 21:53

Alex maybe ask Janey's Mum what they sell in the local supermarket where she lives? I only took a few pouches to Dubai as the shops and supermarkets there stocked a decent range of Ella's pouches so we just bought more while away, and it also meant we didn't need to guess how many we would need.

MotherOfCleo · 05/04/2014 22:48

I would say stick to stage one alex and then you can't go wrong Grin There is bound to be stuff available out their too.

Porridge is actually H's favourite janey, odd as I hate the stuff.

Quodlibet · 06/04/2014 00:30

I can't believe we are in sight of weaning! W is getting very into putting stuff into her mouth - she loves pulling my fingers into her mouth and chomping on them. She's also been really vocal the last couple of days, she keeps coming out with these big rambly baby monologues that go on and on and get more and more excited and quite often eventually end in shrieking. It is really funny.

janey1234 · 06/04/2014 04:51

Gah. DP snoring. M snoring. I'm wide awake. We're at a wedding tomorrow. How annoying....

Alexandra6 · 06/04/2014 07:27

Ah janey I was awake then too! I just don't get how my DH sleeps through S being awake, I know I'm a control freak but he said he would deal with her last night all night, if I slept in the spare room. I said no though?! Mad. He sleeps through her waking up although I suppose maybe that's a good thing and am sure he'd wake up when she really gets going with the crying?!

Anyway when she had her first wake up at midnight Angry I decided to try and get her to self settle after the feed. I lay there for absolutely ages while she moved around, sucking fingers etc. Eventually she seemed to fall asleep and I was over the moon but then she woke up ten mins later so had to hold the dummy in place etc, damn! She was then up again for ages at 4am and started the day at 6.30am. Yawn.

Alexandra6 · 06/04/2014 07:28

Oh and my mum (aka S's biggest fan) would say this is a successful night because her first run of sleep was 5 hours. I guess she's right and it could be worse, I just need to start sleeping at 7.30pm!!
